Design Magnetic Card Interface

I have JKD6 and java2D is present. I have a small project that requires me to design the front and back of a magnetic swipe card (it's actually an identification card) for printing. Am expecting data, and an image of a user to come from a database. In this case am using an ordinary plastic /hard paper printer and a swipe card writer for encoding. My client already has a magnetic card printer which can do encoding but the process might be very slow as it does one card in about a minute. The software that came with the card printer is not flexible as it can print front and back of the card and encode but cannot be customised for printing cycles. I lready have a way to paste the designed cards into a layer like A4 paper and send them to printer.
Am requesting you to help me in solving this issue. The will be tackled in three steps 1:design and 2: preview 3: printing. In design, i will merge a background created by illustrator, paster user details and paste user image. I need flexibility to change details and image positions.
Am hoping to put the system into open source if it succeeds

Hello,
I really need help on smart card printing. i really don't have any idea how. all that i know is i have to print image using this 'persona' printer (card printer) on the surface of smart card.
Help please

  • Forms 10g Design Rich User Interface

    Dear All,
    i would link to design rich user interface in forms 10g.
    for example : the button shape is circle , not only
    rectangle.
    Is it possible to do that in forms 10g or import some java object from third party tools.
    best regards
    borisys

    Borisys,
    the concept of Pluggable Java Comnponents (PJC) allows you that. PJC only change the UI of a component without affecting its functionality.
    The Forms demos that are available on otn.oracle.com/products/forms contain enhanced buttons in teh form of mouse over effects.

    Lego no doubt designed the new interface for iOS7. Even has the same plastic feel.

  • Is it possible to design Business Cards

    I'm a newcomer to the world of Photoshop Elements in fact I only loaded the Programme onto my computer 10 minutes ago.
    Whilst browsing thru Photoshop Elements I noticed that in the "Create" section whilst it can do most things, I didn't see if you could
    design Business Cards, has anyone tried this & with what success.

      Try Vistaprint. They have a host of templates and you simply enter your details on line.
    You can get 250 free (you pay postage only) if you don’t mind their small logo on the back.
    I’ve used them myself and it’s a very good service - depending on your location.

    There is NO way to get the Unix (=Solaris) version of FM 8 to run
    under OS X. It's an executable compiled for the SPARC processor,
    and I don't think Apple has made a SPARC/Solaris emulator... :-)

  • Magnetic card reader

    I have 2 different magnetic card readers.
    A MSR100 and a Magtek. Bother are OSX compatible. Both say to just plug them into a USB and it will read mag cards and return the info like a keyboard. But neither is doing so.
    There are no drivers or apps for said readers.
    I do not see anything in preferences for HID's.
    Dont have a clue how to go about getting these to work on a MAC.
    Mac Mini running 10.6.8
    Tx for your time.

    Neither have drivers for MAC.
    For OSX all drivers are native.  All have same exact "install instructions" which is to simply plug in via usb and that is it. That it will read and send data via text as a keyboard would.
    Was hoping someone had at least use a mag card reader of any sort with their Mac.

  • Magnetic card reader and java

    hi all
    I am doing a project in java in which i need to read the magnetic card reader in my program.so please tell me how to read the text ,that the card reads, in java.Basically my project is to develop an attendence system in java that will use ATM card of the person.I need to read the string that the reader reads, in java.Please help me how to do this.Thanks in eadvanc

    Alright,let me give you an idea of what stratergies which we can follow with regards to your requirement assuming that the magenetic card contains just a stream of information.
    1).If you are using Magnectic card Over Serial / LPT ports,Try to use Java Communication Api.
    write a class using it which pools all the available initiated ports continuosly.If you find ready data avalable with regards to that device connect to that port & then fetch the data and then throgh an event with regards to that data obtained now parse the data accordingly and then use for your business means.

    http://java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/cookbook/11.pdf
    the above links would guide you through in acheiving the stated solution.
    2). If the stated Magenetic Card or Specified device already has a Driver in place and set of native methods(in low level languages) in place.all you ought to do is to make use of JNI and write a native Linking library using JNI specification which can make use of those native methods and export them to java and use them accordingly.

  • Usb video card/interface

    My mini display port isnt working, is it possible to get a usb video card/interface to run my external monitor instead?

    No noise problems when the interface is plugged into other systems.. Only on the G5...
    And I tried plugging it into all the different USB ports on the G5, the one in front and the two in the back... All with the same result.
    Thank you for your reply.

  • Designing a stack interface (HELP!)

    Hey guys, Im new to Java and to the forums, and I need desperate help, so I'd appreciate some. I need to design a Stack interface, implementing an ArrayStack class. It should be a ordinary Java array. I also need to write an application demonstrating the use of the stack. The problem is to read a sentence from System.in, using a scanner, and outputting the words of the sentence in reverse order. Here is what Ive been working on for the past few hours.
    public interface Stack <c> {
         public boolean isEmpty();
         public void popAll();
         public void push(Object c) throws Exception;
         public void pop() throws Exception;
         public Object peek() throws Exception;
    public class ArrayStack <c> implements Stack <c> {
         private Object item [];
         private int top;
         public ArrayStack(int MAX) {
              top = -1;
         @Override
         public boolean isEmpty() {
              return (top == -1);
              // TODO Auto-generated method stub
         @Override
         public void popAll() {
              // TODO Auto-generated method stub
         @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         @Override
         public Object peek() throws Exception {
              return item[top];
         @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         @Override
         public void pop() throws Exception {
              // TODO Auto-generated method stub
              return item[top--];
         public Object push(Object c) throws Exception {
              item[++top] = c;
              return null;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class UseStack {
         public static void main(String args[]){
              Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
    // declare and create an ArrayList that will hold String objects
    ArrayList<String> wordList = new ArrayList<String>();
    while (input.hasNext()) {
    String word = input.next();
    wordList.add(word);
    for (int c = wordList.size() - 1; c >= 0; c--) {
    System.out.println(wordList.get(c));
    I know its a mess but please help me out and tell me where Im going wrong. Thanks so much

    Here is the new thing i got
    public interface Stack <c> {
         public void push(char c) throws Exception;
         public char pop() throws Exception;
         public char peek() throws Exception;
         public int size();
         public boolean isEmpty();
    public class ArrayStack <c> implements Stack <c> {
         private char [] arrayStack;
         private int top;
         public ArrayStack(int MAX) {
              arrayStack = new char [MAX];
              top = -1;
         public boolean isEmpty() {
              return (top == -1);
         public char peek() throws Exception {
              return arrayStack[top];
         public char pop() throws Exception {
              return arrayStack[top--];
         public void push(char c) throws Exception {
              arrayStack[++top] = c;
              return;
    public int size() {
              return 0;
    public class UseStack {
         public static void main(String args[]){
         }}

  • Best software or programme? : I have designs for cards done on a particular app, I need to import somehow typed text (old type writer font) to beside the image? Is something like illustrator or photoshop the best? For card design to then send to printers

    Hello
    I have started designing cards etc
    I have been drawing items on two particular apps on my iPad, but I need to import some old school type writter style text alongside the image.
    What is the best software or programme to do this?
    I don't mind buying some good software
    Basically I would like something in could draw with a stylus on ( or import these images from another app that I can do this on)
    Then add bespoke text beside the image
    Play about with positions, colours sizes etc
    Has anyone tried any of the Wacom products??
    These would all then be sent to printing company to print
    Thanks for your help!

  • PCI card interfacing

    I want to communiate with a PCI card using java. How to do it?

    Is there a document from Sun somewhere that says; we want java to become a systems programming language ? I don't think so. Until then, I'm afraid you're going to have to write a (very much not portable) native interface in C.

  • Anyone successfully using the credit card interface?

    I have heard that this interface is not really a 'mature' product. Has anyone implemented it, and if so, would you mind providing some info about how you got there? Thanks in advance!

    So my sister and I have our own separate iTunes accounts, and she has her set up with her credit card. She let me use her credit card on mine but it keeps saying the security code is invalid. Then the credit card company called about her credit card activity. Are you sure it's not impossible to use the same credit card on our different accounts?

  • Configure Network (Ethernet Cards) interfaces doubts.

    Hi All,
    I m beginner in Solaris/Unix, and I have same problems in configure my network.
    I have one machine with 2 Ethernet Cards, this machine has multiboot, than it have Solaris 10 and Windows XP.
    I will show the configuration that I have on Window,I need the same configuration in Solaris:
    In eth0:
    IP: 192.168.0.117 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig is IP, OK?)
    Mask: 255.255.255.0 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig is
    netmaks , OK?)
    Gatway: 192.168.0.254 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig broadcast, OK?)
    Primary DNS: 192.168.0.254 (In Solaris I dont know how configure this)
    Secondary DNS: void (In Solaris I dont know how configure this)
    I Have an DHCP Server in 192.168.0.254, than I can use dhcp.
    The problems, When I try use DHCP:
    Ifconfg eth0 DHCP
    This command delay and return an Error.
    If Itry configure manually, like
    Ifconfg eth0 192.168.0.117 (this OK)
    Ifconfg eth0 netmask 255.255.255.0 (this OK)
    Ifconfg eth0 broadcast 192.168.0.254 (here the 254 is changed to 255 that is broadcast default, but in my net broad cast or router is in 254)
    Other thing how I save this configuration. When I restart I lost all changes
    Well in second interface the problem is same, but I didnt have DHCP:
    IP: 200.44.136.145 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig is IP, OK?)
    Mask: 255.255.255.192 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig is netmaks , OK?)
    Gatway: 200.44.136.129 (In Solaris the name of this is in ifconfig broadcast, OK?)
    Primary DNS: 4.2.2.2 (In Solaris I dont know how configure this)
    Secondary DNS: void (In Solaris I dont know how configure this)
    fconfg eth1 200.44.136.145 (here .44 is changed to 36)
    Any one can help-me please?
    Thanks

    yes. you got it .... eg..
    /etc/hostname.le0
    /etc/hostname.le1
    in here put the hostname ... so at the shell prompt:
    # hostname <cr>
    should give your hostname.
    now, in the hosts file: eg:
    # Internet host table
    127.0.0.1     localhost
    <your ip address> <your hostname>     loghost
    129.156.89.252 host2
    you need to reboot after this.
    if you get a 'bad address' error on boot,
    you probably have a mismatch of hostnames/ip addresses somewhere in their respective files.
    also, see:
    # man hosts
    # man ifconfig
