Designjet 800 - error 86.01

We've been having a problem lately with our plotter giving us the 86.01 error. Ive combed through various forum posts and have tried every suggestion I found to fix this problem: Cleaning and lubricating the Slide Rod, cleaning the encoder strip, checking the belts, clean out paper, etc, etc. Nothing has worked.
A difference between the problem we've been having and what every other post i've read has said is that we are only recieving the 86.01 error when our plotter has finished actually printing and is cutting the sheet from the rest of the paper roll. The cutter will cut through about a quarter of the sheet and then stop. We just replaced the cutter assembly, believeing that maybe the cutter just got too dull, but still are recieving the error.
Any ideas on how to fix this??

90% of the time this error is caused by 1 of 3 things.  First you have to make sure the complete path of the carriage is smooth all the way from the right to the left.  To test turn the plotter on and when the carriage moves out from the service station, unplug the power so you can now move the carriage using the belt by hand.  Move it using the belt and see if the action is smooth and free the complete width of the plotter.  If it is not smooth then you will want to look at the conditon of the belt to see if it is starting to fall apart. If the belt is good but not smooth, then you will want to lubricate the center rail with synthetic oil lightly.   If necessary use a flashlight to shine in both ends to get a better look as you move the carriage.  The second item is the encoder strip.  Make sure it is clean, especially on the right side.  To clean use a damp cloth and GENTLY move the cloth over the top part which are the lines the carriage reads to position itself in the correct spot for printing.  Do not rub to hard as lines are known to disappear and a replacment encoder strip will then be necessary. Third you have to make sure there is nothing in the service station on the right side impeding the movement of the carriage when it moves to the left to start printing.   Of the 90%, 90% of the time the belt is in need of changing.  You can also get a better observation of what is happening by opening the center cover and sticking a wad of paper in the cover open switch opening on the right side.  Hope some of this helps.

  • HP DesignJet 800 24" doesnt work with Mac OS 10.7 Lion

Having just upgraded to Mac OS 10.7 Lion, my DesignJet 800 24" no longer shows up on the network. Every time i upgrade my Mac OS this happens, in the past i've had to install previous version drivers to get it to work as the current ones never do - as is the case with the current one for lion. But this time that's not working and it's not even visible on the network. The HP help pages (of the links that actually work) basically say it's up to Apple to provide an update to their OS to make it work - Not good enough, it's an HP product.
If anyone can suggest any work arounds for this i'd be grateful as i don't have time to keep messing about with this.

OK, i have been reliably informed by a third party that the 'Mac_OS_X_HP_Designjet_Raster_Driver.dmg' (available from HP's 'Support' section) for lion catagorically does not work. The only way to get this printer to work is to connect to it via another mac running OS 10.6 (snow leopard) using bonjour, whilst running the Driver for 10.4 on that mac, which was the only way to get it to work for the last upgrade.
Since OS 10.4, HP have maintained the driver comes bundled with Mac OS and therfore didn't have one to download from the support site (until now - which, did i mention? - doesnt work!), but this is not the case (the PS version does), but not the standard version.
Come on HP sort it out.

  • Mac 10.9.5 hp & designjet 800 not compatible?

I just bought a used Designjet 800. I have a Mac and have 10.9.5 as the operating system. Apparently, HP hasn't caught up with Mac. The driver will install but the hp printer setup assistance won't. It won't print bigger than 8x14. I can't change the size of the document. I can't get into the printer to set up defaults. I have tried to install and unistall and reinstall many times. I downloaded the drivers from hp. i tried hooking up a usb to the printer from the Mac. It prints fabulous 8x11.5 or 8x14 pages, but no bigger. and it is a 42" printer. Is there a patch or some fix to get this to work? Gracias!

    Hey @l4smith4 ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Designjet 800 Printer series page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • Lumia 800 & Error code 80180048

Having waited patiently for EE/Orange in the UK to come up with the 7.8 update for my Lumia 800, there was great rejoicing when Zune finaly showed it as available - then gloom as the update only gets so far before throwing up an 80180048 Error Code.  I've tried a hard reset but still the same problem, and also tried it on a different PC (both Windows 7). Any suggestions please?

    Hi odseybod,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum.
Provided the error code, you can try these troubleshooting steps for us to resolve the issue. Before we begin, please see IMPORTANT NOTES.
    • DO NOT use the Windows Phone Support Tool if your phone's operating system (OS) version is 7.0.7390.0 or higher.
Note: To find out which version of the operating system your phone has: On Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings > About > More info. Look for the number next to "OS version".
    • Zune software version 4.8 or later versions are required for the latest version of the Windows Phone Support Tool.
To determine which version you have, open the Zune software on your computer and then click: Settings (top of screen) > Software (upper-left corner) > General (left column) > About Zune. Look for the number next to "Version".
The following steps show how to download the Windows Support Tool and use it to resolve your installation issues.
    1. Begin by reinstalling the Zune software. To automatically remove and replace your Zune software, a Fix It tool is available:
You may be able to resolve this problem automatically. Click the Fix this problem link. Then, click Run in the File Download dialog box and follow the steps in this wizard.
    Fix this problem
    Microsoft Fix it 50577
    Notes:
    • This wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
    • If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD so that you can run it on the computer that has the problem.
    2. You may have to update your computer:
                  a. Visit the following Microsoft website: http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate
                  b. If you have not previously done this, click to "opt in" for Microsoft Updates.
                  c. Click Check for updates.
    3. Unplug the USB cable from the phone.
    4. Download the Windows Phone Support Tool from the Microsoft Download Center:
               • If you have a 32-bit system, download the WPSupportToolv2-x86.msi package.
               • If you have a 64-bit system, download the WPSupportToolv2-amd64.msi package.
Note:  If you're not sure whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit system, read the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
827218 How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.
    5. Complete the online steps to install the Windows Phone Support Tool.
    6. When you're finished, click Start, point to All Programs, and then from the list of programs, click Windows Phone Support Tool.
    7. Restart your phone: Press and hold the Power button until you see Slide down to power off, then flick down. After it’s off, press the Power button again to turn on your phone again.
    8. As soon as the phone turns on, press and hold the Camera button until the connect-to-PC screen appears (shown at the end of this step). It may take a few moments for this to appear. As soon as the screen appears, release the Camera button .
    9. Reconnect your phone by using the USB cable that was included with your phone. Your phone will be detected by your computer and the Zune software may automatically start. This process frequently takes several minutes.
Important: If the Zune software DOES start, close the program.
    10. In the Windows Phone Support Tool, click the Recover button.
    11. The Windows Phone Support Tool will install an update that fixes the problem and restarts your phone. If your phone is locked, enter your password when you are prompted.
Note: If you receive an error after you click the Recover button, repeat steps 1-4 to make sure that you have the most recent versions of the Windows Phone Support Tool and the Zune software before trying again.
    12. When you see "The device has been updated" text, located at the bottom of the screen, close the Windows Phone Support Tool and disconnect your phone.
13.Reconnect your phone to the computer by using the USB cable included with your phone and install the latest Windows Phone update. To do this, click Settings, Phone, and then Update.
If the steps in this article did not resolve the issue, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more troubleshooting information:

  • Lumia 800 Error 80072FOD when Updating through Zun...

I hope someone can help! My Lumia 800 is set to inform me when updates are avaialble and these updates worked smoothly when connecting  via Zune.  Then my phone began resetting whenever a calender reminder was activated. So I wondered if I had missed an update. Going to settings/update in Zune now registers the "Cant find update" message with 80072FOD error. And when my phone tells me there is an update available the automatic download seems to have stopped.
So I have two problems - resetting with calender reminders and update error 80072FOD.
I have already tried the forum suggestions of sending latest root certificate to my phone.

I had tried all the other suggestions I found around the net, and none worked.
    - antivirus
    - (wasn't able to check phone's certificates)
    - rebooting phone, computer, router
    - windows update
    - connecting via hardwire to router (instead of wireless
    - uninstalling Zune and doing a fresh download and re-install.
    Nothing worked.
Eventually, I was inspired to go (in Zune) to Settings/Phone/Wireless Sync and that worked!
    Good luck,
    -John

  • Clearing Designjet T790 error messages

I use a Designjet T790 to print lots of engineering drawings, sending them all to print at once thus creating a long print queue before retiring to the print room to cut and fold them. There are times when I need to change a paper roll mid way, and sometimes this generates an error message eg 86.01 paper jam.
Even once the jam is cleared the error message can only apparently be cleared by switching off and on again, at which point the remainder of the print queue is lost and I have to send drawings to print again.
Is there a way of clearing error messages without losing all the remaining print jobs?

Short answer no.  Once you get a non continuable error, the plotter must be powered down and then back on.  What bothers me is you should not get a paper jam or path error message just because you run out of paper.  You should just get a message to load paper.  Have you checked the condition of the belt and lubriacation on the rails as that is the most common issue generating the 86.01 error.

  • HP DesignJet 800ps error 86:01 severe error 0x8010001

We have an HP DesignJet 800ps in which we have just changed the belt. After 2 successful (black only) printouts, and 1 unsuccessful colour printout (the blacks were all very grey and no color was printed) the front panel now displays error 86:01. If we hit "menu" we see  "Severe error 0x8010001."
I have lubricated the slide bar. I have cleaned out all the dust from the suction holes. I have run all the tests I can (by holding down "up-arrow" + "enter" on bootup) and they all come out OK.
The one thing I haven't done, mostly because I'm not sure how, is to do step number 5 on the error boot, "Align print heads"

This is the only forum for the DesignJet 800ps printer there is! Suggesting a different forum is not what I would call "customer support" instead, I would call that a lazy response.
The link I gave above is for Designjet's and will be populated with users with experience that may be able to answer your question.  This forum is focused on consumer level products - Deskjet's, Photosmart printers and similar products tpically selling for $500 or less.
Although you may be a standard consumer the Designjet's are not typical consumer items.  You are free to ask here, but you should be aware that you are likely to get much better results posting in the HP Enterprise Designjet forum here.

  • Designjet 500 error 86.01

    Hi
Can anyone help with this error, I have checked numerous forums and from them I am aware it is caused by a paper jam or a worn belt.
I got this printer from someone who had obviously had a go previously, it had a missing carriage bush and both fixing screws missing from service station. Got that sorted but problem still there, belt looks brand new with very little dust around axis motor, have replaced trailing cables as a few solder contacts were ragged and tatty, new carriage and cleaned and oiled guide rods. Also I have a new encoder strip (not yet fitted) as original looks ok through a magnifying glass. On power up it goes through diagnostics and carriage moves about 1/4" to the left and back to position then error code 86.01 is displayed, this happens wherever I position the carriage. I have tried system check but it locks out when attempting to drive the carriage. Can a faulty axis motor give this error code? also can axis motor driver board give same code? If so does anyone know a method to check either or both of these components.
There may be more to this than just this fault, I assume it shouldn't power up until the on/off button is pressed, unfortunately this one does (it starts up immediately when plugged in). Also it doesn't power down when in fault mode. The steady green power LED changes to flashing green after being pressed, constant on and off with the panel displaying the same error code.
    Any help appreciated
    Rob

  • HP Designjet 800 Plotter

I just replaced the carriage belt in our plotter now it says theres a system error 21:10 and I have checked ink heads??? Thanks =)

    What 21.10 means:
Service station failure. The possible cause could be this: 1. The steps counted by the service station motor are not consistent with the expected length of the current movement. 2. The aerosol fan has reached its maximum current limit. 3. The service station motor has shut down because of blockage.
    Resolution:
Replace the service station/aerosol fan assembly
(psst - readjust your carriage belt - it's probably too tight or too lose just by a bit, unless of course Murphy's Law has visited you and the service station just decided to pooch out at the same time you replaced the belt)
ooops - found some more info on this error
Make a thorough check inside the Service Station for any obstructions. Remove any paper from inside the Service Station path.
Tip: Sometimes an incorrectly routed cable can be the cause of the system error 21:10. Sometimes it is because of friction caused by a dirty service path.
Check for dirt inside the Service Station path. Clean and oil the Service Station path.
Reboot the printer three times to check if the system error persists, if the system error does not display you have resolved the issue.
If you know how you can also take the service station out and shake it - this might dislodge it if it's become locked.  However if you don't know how to remove it - call in a tech to do this for you!

  • Unable to print to my HP designjet 800 on either Mountain lion or lion

In Print & Scan, it says printer is not connected, yet it also says it is idle. When i Pinged it from Utilities, it would get anywhere from 5-8 packets out of 10 be successful. Although if recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, it was not working before that and is not working on my iMac connect to the same network.

    Hi,
iOS Uses Bonjour services to communicate with the printer through the network, those relies on Multicasting.
Some routers shipped with Multicasting disabled by default and some does not support those protocols at all.
Please try printing using Wireless Direct and check for any difference, if the feature works without using the router that indicates the issue as router related and will allow us to better understand how to go further,
To set up a direct connection using Wireless Direct follow the steps below and try pritnign from your iPad:
