Desktop policy managment IPS6 vs IPS3

In IPS3 we've had Policy Module access from
the admin console(Manage Domains->Profiles->Policy)
where we could specify attributes and properties for
applications and channels(e.g. isEditable for a channel).
Is there something similar exists in the amconsole in version 6 ?
If not, how can I (for example) set/reset "isEditable" flag for a channel?
Is any documentation(which I can show to a client) available?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Karthik,
Thanks for your response.
Yes, that was exactly my initial try to set a display policy:
"Click on container and channel management from the
desktop service and then go to your channel.
In the channel go to properties, click on add and add the
boolean property isEditable with its value false .. "
Which results in an error: "A property with the same name already exists."
And this is correct: this property exists, but it is not displayed in the channel profile!
You can test it with SampleJSP channel. (which has isEditable property)
This makes me suspicious and I started to check for all
other standard display properties with the same results...
I tried User Management->Service->Portal Server
Configuration ->Desktop ->container and channel
management (which is the DP for this organisation)
And I also tried: Service Management->Portal Server Configuration
->Desktop ->container and channel management (which is the DP for the portal)
Now the question is: How to manage/admin the display profile and policies in portal 6
amconsole without xml editing for each channel in each desktop profile?!
Thanks for your help,
Alex

I am unable to see the Remote App and Desktop Connection in Group Policy Management Editor on my 2012 R2 DC. I am therefore not able configure the connection URL in Access RemoteApp and desktops in our Windows 8.1 client environment.
Within the Group Policy Under User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components all I see is:-

    Remote Desktop Connection Client
    Remote Desktop Session Host
    But NOT
    Remote App and Desktop Connection
Which I need. Is there anyway of adding this?

  • Remote Desktop Connection Manager can only open 6 sessions at a time on Server 2012

I am only able to open, and view thumbnails, for a maximum of 6 RDP sessions on my Server 2012 box at a time in Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCM). If I add more sessions I just get a variety of connection errors for the additional sessions. If I activate
a 7th session one of the existing 6 sessions goes off-line with a connection error message. Sometimes the error says 3334, sometimes the error says 0x8345000E, and sometimes it just says there is a connection error.
I have checked Group Policy on the server to ensure I don't have any settings restricting the number of RDP sessions.
In fact, I will often have 30 or 40 RDP simultaneous sessions opened, I am just not able to view them all in RDCM. I have seen reviews of RDCM with screenshots showing dozens of thumbnails so it seems to be something that's possible to do.
Are there any settings I should make on the server to allow RDCM to connect to more than 6 simultaneous RDP sessions?
Just to be clear, all these RDP sessions are running on the same server. Also, I am just using the trial license for Server 2012 and Remote Desktop Services right now. I don't think that should have an impact, but I wanted to be thorough.

    Thanks Jakub for "corflags" info.
Unfortunatelly it doesn't work because running mRemoteNG.exe process in 64bit can't load MSTSC ActiveX component (referenced assemblies) because original files were assembled from 32bit dll [mstscax.dll]?
Error message when making RDP connection:
Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.MSTSCLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
I was able to create new AxInterop.MSTSCLib.dll and Interop.MSTSCLib.dll assemblies from 64bit dll version and now it works with "AnyCPU":-)
    http://www.filedropper.com/axinteropmstsclib-mremoteng
Using AxImp.exe and TlbImp.exe didn't worked for me because it creates assemblies in wrong namespace "MSTSCLib" instead of "Interop.MSTSCLib" (AxImp.exe) and TlbImp.exe for changing namespace generated many "marshaled errors"
    so final .dll wasn't working.
Adding MSTSCAX.dll reference in Visual Studio directly created correct and functional assemblies. Who don't know how to create 64bit compatible assemblies or don't have Visual Studio, feel free to check linked file.
    Hope it helps
P.S. Sorry for possible technical misinterpretation, I am not programmer so creating new assemblies was trial-error process...

  • Server 2012: Remote desktop licence manager not issuing licences

    Hi,
I am battling with an problem which i cannot seem to resolve and no other forums actually come to a conclusion on how to resolve this problem!
I have a windows server 2012 server which is NOT part of a domain.
I have installed Remote Desktop Services and also installed the Remote Desktop License manager and i just cannot get the license manager to issue cals when users connect remotely via RDP
I have installed an extra two CAL's and tried using them as both a "Per User" and also "Per Device" but still does not work.
I have now run out of my grace period and cannot connect to the server at all
I have also tried changing some gpo's with no luck,
Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Licensing
"Use the specified RD license servers" = myservername
"Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode" = Per User
    How can i fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you seen that you have activated RDS License server before installing CAL?
Please check that the License Server should be part of ‘Terminal Server License’ group in Active Directory Domain Services. You can also configure RD License server manually by powershell commmand. Please check below article for information.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2013/09/20/rd-licensing-configuration-on-windows-server-2012.aspx
In addition, please install below Hotfix and verify the result.

  • Remote Desktop Service Manager - configure permissions for Remote Desktop Users to Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff

    Hello, dear colleagues.
We are using Windows Server 2012 R2 as Remote Desktop Server. Also use Windows Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Service Manager to control RDS user sessions (Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff, Query Info).
Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff options works only for users in Administrators group.
I can't to configure permissions for Remote Desktop Users, specific user or AD group.
To set permissions I'm running RDS Host Configuration on Windows Server 2008 R2 and connect to Windows Server 2012 R2. Then double-click
RDP-Tcp, Security tab, add specific user account , AD group or configure
    advanced permissions
    for Remote Desktop Users.
But, as I sad above, these options works only for users in Administrators group. How to make it work for Remote Desktop Users or specific user, AD group?
    Thanks.
P.S. If move specific user from Remote Desktop Users group to Administrators group on
    Windows Server 2012 R2 - it works.

    Hi,
You can prevent administrators from changing the permissions for a connection by applying the
Do not allow local administrators to customize permissions Group Policy setting.
This Group Policy setting is located in Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security
Apart there is one command with which you can set the permission for that check the related
    article. Additionally checkthis
    thread for more detail.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • What is the differents between Policies and Preferences in Group policy Management Editor

What is the differents between Policies and Preferences in Group policy Management Editor?

Policies: If you delete a policy in GPO it deletes its registry files form the clients. Policies don't tattoo the registry. Policies Settings are permanent as long policy is in effect i.e. Desktop Backgrond. Policies are applied at Computer
Startup, User logon and Manual and automatic refresh. Takes Precedence over Preferences.
Preferences: Even if you delete a policy form Preferences tab the registry files will still available on the systems. Preferences tattooed the registry if you want to remove the registry entries you have to do it manually. Preferences exampl
is i.e. mapped drive. Settings applied with preferences are not grayed out. Not available in Local GPO.
    Usefull for

  • Group Policy Management | No such interface supported

Running Windows Server 2008 R2 as a Domain Controller and when I open Group Policy Management, click on a GPO, then click on the Settings tab, it pops up an error message that says "No such interface supported".  I've found several articles
that talk about registering .dll files and I've done that and nothing.  I've uninstalled GPMC and reinstalled and that didn't fix anything.  Can anyone help resolve this?

    Hi Jason,
Before going further, do we have other domain controllers? If yes, does GPMC work correctly on these domain controller? GPMC reports the error "No Such interface supported" normally is due to a missing or corrupted Windows component.
Besides, do we update the server to the latest? If not, we can update the server to the latest and then reinstall the GPMC to see if the issue persists.

  • VS, ODT and using "Oracle Project"-template requires Policy Management

    HI,
I installed the ODT 11.1.0.6.20 and tried to create a new project using the "Oracle Project" but received the following error message: "The project <ProjectName> requires Policy Management. Open this project in Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Developer or Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Architect."
I have tried this using VS 2008 Professional and Team Edition. The operating systems is Vista x64 Ultimate.
Oracle documentation doesn't mention any specific VS version so this is perhaps something else. Is there a workaround or fix to get around this?
    TIA,
    Kari

OK, I'll give it a try. This suggestion makes perfect sense. I have used that template to create a project before, but noticed that it doesn't contain a windows form by default and so I assumed that it was a build for a n-tier application database access class, which is not necessarily what I want, and so I abandoned the effort. I know I can add a window form. I appreciate the response and will post back my results.
Is there an example project somewhere that I could download and have a look at?
Thanks again for your reply, even though you didn't reply to me. I think you resolved my problem! :-)

  • Where I can find and use "Java Desktop System Management Tools "

With Solaris 10, you not only get the Java Desktop System desktop environment, but also the Java Desktop System Management Tools and a selection of free and trial Development Tools, which are available for download only.
I found only an information about JDS release 2

this page said how to install but ...where I can find CD/
    regards please help

Good question. It appears to have been installed with Solaris 11/06, as I have all of the packages listed here:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-7575/6mmsrpdus?a=view
However, it does not appear in the Java Web Console. I tried adding it using the wcadmin command, but haven't managed to get it to run as per the docs. The documentation assumes that it is already installed and visible in the Java Web Console...
    According to this documentation:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/6mhm8o5l6?a=view#gdjpi
An application for the Java Web Console should have a WEB-INF directory and an app.xml file. The apoc packages come with neither, so something is missing.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App Manager still does not work - HELP?

Using Windows 7, have Adobe subscription, cannot get the CC desktop Application Manager to work under any circumstances! This is driving me crazy, paying for the subscription, cannot update any programs, because I cannot access anything. I urgently need to finish a job where I have previously used a font I have in my typekit - but of course I cannot access the typekit so cannot get the font - this is urgent.
Can someone please help - I have uninstalled all reference to Creative Cloud Desktop App, restarted computer, re-installed. Nothing, uninstalled everything - changed OOBE folders in both locations to _old, restarted, reinstalled, nothing. Uninstalled again, ran the CC Cleaner Tool, option 3, option1, renamed the OOBE folders, restared Windows, ran exe file again. Failes repeatedly. Comes up with a blank white space, blue wheel spins a few times then stops, and stays like that. If you click in the white space, then it just goes black!!!

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App Manager never self update correctly

I have no idea what is wrong with the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App Manager. I downloaded and installed it ever since I subscribed to Creative Cloud. EVERY TIME when there is an update to the Creative Cloud Desktop App Manager, it will prompt me to update which I did. However, EVERY TIME the update would fail and I would either have a broken CC Desktop App Manager or, started recently, it would prompt me to update again.
The only solution I could find was manually uninstall CC Desktop App Manager and then reinstall it.
Perhaps the CC Desktop App Manager is not needed?

  • Desktop Window Manager Service on Windows 7 Starter - Any Reason to Leave It Running?

    Hello everyone,
-As per title, I'd like to know whether is it better to turn off Desktop Window Manager Session Manager (UxSms) service on Windows 7 Starter - or not. I mean changing the service's default startup type from Automatic to Manual (or Disabled).
-In Windows 7 Starter, the Aero theme and desktop composition are not available at all (not even a basic/partial one), so letting Desktop Window Manager (DWM.exe) to continuously run is useless as it does absolutely nothing. Is my deduction correct?
-All opinions and suggestions are welcomed, thank you very much.
    Regards,
    -Musafir_86.

Please read the information posted @
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa969540%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
    Desktop Window Manager
The desktop composition feature, introduced in Windows Vista, fundamentally changed the way applications display pixels on the screen.  When desktop composition is enabled, individual windows no longer draw directly to the screen or primary display
device as they did in previous versions of Windows. Instead, their drawing is redirected to off-screen surfaces in video memory, which are then rendered into a desktop image and presented on the display.
Desktop composition is performed by the Desktop Window Manager (DWM).  Through desktop composition, DWM enables visual effects on the desktop
as well as various features such as glass window frames, 3-D window transition animations, Windows Flip and Windows Flip3D, and high resolution support.
The Desktop Window Manager runs as a Windows service. It can be enabled and disabled through the Administrative Tools Control Panel item, under Services, as Desktop Window Manager Session Manager.
Many of the DWM features can be controlled or accessed by an application through the DWM APIs.  The following documentation describes the features and requirements of the DWM APIs.
