Detect Desktop Deployment 20.2.1 version programmatically

There is the 3d Pr Advanced, and the Electro Mechanical Advanced, etc
How can that be determined programmatically, from Java programming?

Hi,
Can you please try using the following Java code:
        Profile p = m_JVue.getActiveVueBean().getProfile();
        String productResName = p.getString("RUNTIME", "JVUE_LONGNAME", "");
        String productName = Resources.loadFrameString(productResName);
        System.out.println("PRODUCT NAME = " + productName);
Thanks,
Daniel

  • Windows 8.1 clients are not detecting updates deployed to them through SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
We are using SCCM 2012 R2 to deploy software updates.
On Windows 8.1 SCCM does not show certain updates as being needed and isn't deploying them to the clients even though Windows Update will show them as high importance. These same updates are being detected and deployed to Windows 8 clients successfully.
I believe that the update catalog that WSUS uses may have some incorrect detection rules for the following updates:
    2917933
    2913320
    2913270
    2913152
    2909569
    2904440
    2904266
    2903939
    2899189
    2893984
    2893294
    2892074
    2916626
    2898785
My automatic deployment rules include Windows 8.1 in the product category. I have even created a standalone rule for Windows 8.1 that builds a new package and the behavior is the same.
We only have a handful of Windows 8+ clients so this hasn't been a big issue but others may want to keep an eye out.

I am also running into this issue.  After "checking online for updates" on one of my machines in office I found that there were 21 important updates for my 8.1 box.  When I cross reference them in SCCM under All Software Updates, it appears these
8.1 updates are not listed.  They are however listed for all other OS.
10 seconds after typing this, I went in to verify my WSUS ->  Products and Classifications settings and come to find 8.1 and 2012 R2 weren't selected, even though it's an option in SCCM.  Go figure!  This wasn't the end though.  After
running a Synchronization, my issue still wasn't resolved.  Went back to check my settings and they again were changed back to having these OS unchecked.  Finally, a solution!  I found that in SCCM, under Administration tab, Site Configuration
    > Sites > ABC - Mysitename, right click and scroll down to "Configure Site Components" > Software Update Point.  This setting (although the same as is in WSUS) takes precedence, thus was rolling my settings back to the original configuration
    in WSUS.
So long story short, even though my automatic deployment rules stated approve all windows 7/8/8.1 criticals/importants, 8.1 was getting skipped for the most part because my WSUS server wasn't syncing with Microsoft for all of the updates I required.  I
did have a couple of updates that squeezed through because they were categorized as "Security Updates for Windows 8, 8.1".
Not sure if this is the solution you were looking for, but your thread got me started in the right direction, hopefully this response helps in the same way!
    Thanks!

  • Autovue desktop deployment installation on terminal.

    Hi,
We are trying to install Autovue desktop deployment installation on citrix - VDI solution.
It seems like the installation installs files on the user that run the installation and when other users are trying to open autovue they are getting error message.
I tried to put config.properties file on each %userprofie% but it doesn't help.
Do you know if there are special installation instructions for installing on terminals server / citrix?
    Regards,
    Sagi.

    From the KM article
Using AutoVue Desktop Deployment on Citrix(Doc ID 1905348.1)
Citrix is not a supported environment which means that we can't log bug when an issue is only reproducible in a Citrix environment.
Putting %userprofie% in the config.properties is useless as it is a WINDOWS convention not a java one
it is also not a must that all user have a config.properties (c:\Users\username\AutoVue\Offline_Files\Config.properties), not for Desktop deployment (for OCX, it is)
You will need to look in to the logs (see related KM notes articles (Enabling Logging when Using AutoVue Desktop Deployment(Doc ID 1342222.1)
and debug it from there, it will probably be a file permission issue

  • AutoVue Desktop Deployment

I am trying the new AutoVue Desktop Deployment and I have a couple of questions.
    1. When I use the application VBExample.exe I get a connection error. Could not initialize socket on localhost:5099;.......
Please tell me what I need to do. I also put in what I think is the appropriate code to do in in my application and I get the same error.
    ax.initActiveX()
    ax.setFile("upload://" + txtURL)
    2. If I try to run autovue.exe from the C:\oracle\AutoVue Desktop Deployment\bin I cannot open any drawing files I get unsupported file format. Additionally, in the about screen it shows Oracle AutoVue Office 20.1.0.
    Thanks for your help!!!

    Hi Paul,
For issue #1, it seems your Desktop Deployment is not installed properly. The log file located in <AutoVue Desktop Deployment installation dir>\bin\Logs should contain the error in more details. I would suggest re-install Desktop Deployment to see if the problem still occur.
Regarding your code, after ax.initActiveX() is called, you need to wait for the doneInit event that signals the ActiveX is completed initialization, and only then you can call the setFile method
For issue #2, i am not sure which flavor of the product you have (AutoVue Office, 2D Pro, etc.) Each flavor support different set of file formats so please make sure the file you are viewing is indeed supported by your product flavour.
    Thanks

  • Detect if there is a new version for an application

How can I detect if there is a new version for the application?.
I want to know if there is a new version, and then restart the application to take the new version.
Is there an API for JWS or something similar to detect this?
    Thank you

You can also specify that a jar should be updated on the server side by using the version="" tag on each jar resource. You also need a version.xml file that specifies a list of possible version numbers.
Having said this, I've yet to try it out. Have yet to find decent documentation on how to get it working (anyone?). But it sounds like a good idea since there are definite problems with the regular update mechanism.
For example, I've found that if my client tries to update while a copy of the App is running it won't work. Not only this, it seems to never work again until the client removes the App and does a full update again.

  • Group Policy Deployment Acrobat Standard XI Version 11

I was able to successfully create a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Group Policy that would be able to distribute the Adobe Reader Application using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI. I tried to use the same procedure from the Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 download from the adobe licensing site and was unable to get the Group Policy to work. The error message that I am getting is...
The install of application Adobe Acrobat XI Standard 11.0 from policy  Deploy Adobe Acrobat 11 failed. The error was : %%1603
This is the procedure that I created for deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI using Group Policy.
How to create a group policy deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI
    Overview:
This procedure covers the steps needed to create a group policy that will deploy the Adobe Acrobat installation.
    Requirements
    •    Windows 2008 Group Policy
    •    Adobe Acrobat Customization Wizard
         o    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz11000_en_US.exe
    •    Adobe Acrobat XI (Version 11)
         o    download from adobe account
    Procedure:
    1.    Download the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    2.    Extract the contents of the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    a.    Type msiexec.exe /a AcroStan.msi
    b.    Click Next
    c.    Put in the Network Location Share where everyone can extract the installation.
    d.    Click Install
    e.    The package will then extract to the network location as indicated above.
    f.    Click Finish, once the installation has completed.
    g.    Open the Adobe Customization XI Wizard, and customize the package by selecting the AcroStan.msi file.
    h.    Customize the AcroStan.MSI installation file
    i.    Default viewer of PDF files: Make Acrobat the Default PDF Viewer
ii.    Remove previous versions of Acrobat
    iii.    Run Installation: Silently
iv.    If reboot is required at the end of installation: Suppress reboot
    i.    Shortcuts: Remove the desktop Shortcut
    j.    Online and Adobe Services: Disable Product Improvement Program: checked.
    k.   Generate Transform File
    i.    Click Transform > Generate Transform File
ii.   Create an Setup.Ini file in the folder of the Distribution Package.
iii.  Name the Transform File something useful like “CompanyConfigs”.
    3.    Create a Group Policy to deploy the software package. It is usually best to have a group policy for each software installation package.
    a.    Update the Domain Default Policy with Always install with elevated privileges. This will allow all software deployment packages to install.
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer > Always install with elevated privileges : Enabled.
    b.  Create a Group Policy to enable Windows 7 Verbose Mode
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > Verbose vs normal status messages : Enabled.

    iii.   Click the AcroRead.msi
    iv.   Click Advanced
    v.    Click the Modifications Tab and click Add
vi.   Optional: Click the Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management.
Note: This setting can be used to uninstall the application if the group policy ever changes in that the application should be removed.
vii.    The package is now created …
    4.    Test the Client in a Virtual Machine
    a.    Go to a windows client and run “gpupdate /force”.
    b.    The system will then respond that it needs to restart the computer.
    c.    Type Yes, and allow the computer to reboot.
    d.    If Group Policy is not setup to allow for verbose messages in Windows 7 then the user will just see “Please wait…”, if verbose message is enabled the user will see “Installing Adobe Acrobat…”.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing to get the group policy deployed? It has the same permissions as the Adobe Reader folder and I have done everything exactly the same, except that Adobe Standard has the license number, and owner information included in the Transform file (.mst).
    Thank you.

Your case isn't unique. We've heard this a lot. While Acrobat has a small, very small percentage of settings available in the ADMX files,
in case you don't know, PolicyPak software has a solution to manipulate, basically, near 100% of the settings in Acrobat Reader and Professional.
You're welcome to check out how it works. These videos are for Acrobat X, but there is also tempaltes in the download for XI.
Here are links to the pages with full how-to videos:
    http://www.policypak.com/products/manage-acrobat-reader-with-group-policy.html
    and
    http://www.policypak.com/products/manage-acrobat-x-pro-and-acrobat-x-standard-using-group- policy.html
You can be up and running in 20 minutes, but note, it's NOT a template.. PolicyPak is full application management and lockdown system.

  • Desktop deployment does not show all localized strings when deployed to windows 8.1

We created a desktop application using the .Net 4.0 framework that contain localized strings.  When deploying the app to Windows 7 and Windows 8 vm, all of the strings appear.  It even works on Win XP.  My issue is when deploying the same
application to the win 8.1 vm, several of the localized strings do not appear.  It is as if the OS picks and chooses which string to appear.  Has there been any changes to the Resource Manager that we should be aware of?  Was there an update
in windows 8.1 that is causing the issue?  Is it the Oracle VM that is the culprit?  Not sure, so if you have any insite to this issue we are having, by all means respond to the post
    David Moss

    Hi,
I think that the problem is related to .Net Framework 4.0
Windows 8.1 include .Net Fra 4.5 that may be not supported by your desktop application. that why serveral of the localized string don't appear.
I think that you can downgrad the .Net framework to 4.0 version, from Windows 8.1, launch appwiz.cpl (from Metro Interface) => display installed updates, locate .Net Framework 4.0 and remove /uninstall it)
Reboot the W8.1 machine and retry to launch the desktop app and let me know if the problem is resolved.

  • Muse auto detecting desktop vs. mobile layout

    Hi,
In my site which is under development at www.gary-online.com/ncmobile
If I view it on my mobile device I see the 'desktop' version of the site. I would expect that Muse would detect that this site has two possible layouts (a desktop and a mobile version) and auto select the mobile version for display.
I've put buttons on the site (in the footer) where the user can manually select if s/he wants to view the 'mobile' or 'desktop' version' and that works well, but I'm not sure why Muse doesn't initially automatically pick the correct version to display based on the device being used to view it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Gary

I have checked your website <http://www.gary-online.com/ncmobile> on an iPhone and it successfully redirects me to the Phone layout <http://www.gary-online.com/ncmobile/phone/index.html>.
It appears your mobile device is probably locked to the desktop view as you have direct links to different layouts on both versions of the site. You just need to visit the mobile version once in order to lock the view to the Phone layout again. Refer to the following thread with a similar situation - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5109991#5109991

  • Detection/Monitoring of major/minor FlashPlayer version updates across all supported platforms

Is there any API we can use to call against or is there
another way of polling to monitor when new updates are released for
any/all platforms that FlashPlayer is published and maintained for?
I run a very large multinational consumer facing website with a ton
of Flash/Flex applications deployed on it and desperately need a
way of automating the process of making sure all of our apps work
between version updates to the player.
I see that in the client configuration settings for the
player, there is a way to configure the client to check for server
updates for itself periodically, the shortest interval being 7
days. Is the API it calls exposed in any public way that I could
use the same mechanism but also poll for updates for all supported
FlashPlayer versions? I tried to detect what it was using as an
endpoint on the Adobe.com with no success. Ideally I'd love to have
a daemon (I write myself obviously) on my end check the version
numbers periodically and send me messages when any of them change
so that way I can initiate the QA and any resulting development
updates to ensure that everything stay working nicely.

Thanks. Being able to do this would solve a ton of problems
for us as we get killed by version updates occasionally and I'd
rather be able to handle this as proactively as possible as opposed
to purely reactively. I was headed down the path of writing a cron
job to run some CURL code to just sniff at
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
until I realized that I was going to introduce two points of future
failure by hand-parsing the generated HTML to extract the version
string as well as having to seed the request header since the page
is dynamically generated based on the client browser. An external
API or at least a supported method of getting the same information
that I could rely on would help a TON.

  • MSI deployment problem/previous MSI Versions or Uninstaller?

I'm attempting to deploy the latest Flash Player 11.3.300.265 MSI but almost every installation is failing.  If I try to deploy the MSI manually on a problem workstation, I'm prompted for previous versions of the MSI.  Apparently the older copy of the MSI we have on our file server doesn't match what's on some of the desktops, so I receive error 1714 and the installation fails.  On workstations that have the same MSI version as what's on our file server installed, the new MSI installs properly as it's locating the previous MSI it needs.  Apparently the newer MSI packages are dependent upon whatever existing MSI is currently loaded. So my solutions appear to be:
Obtain each previous MSI package from version 10 and up and rotate the version stored on our network file share. Each workstation will then eventually see the old version it's looking for to faciliate a successful installation of the new MSI.
Find an automated way to uninstall the current version of Flash Player and run this task ahead of the new Flash Player MSI deployment task.
Option 1 would require me to obtain each previous version we may have deployed.  Is there such a file repository available?
Option 2 is something I've tried working on but have not been successful.  The Flash Player uninstaller does not seem to work correctly.  After running it I'm still prompted for the previous MSI at the original location it was deployed from.  The Player is not listed in Programs and Features/Add-Remove Programs and the Flash directories in the Windows system folders only have the Flash log file and nothing else.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks!

    Hi Todd
There is a "universal flash player installer" you can get it here  :  from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe.
This uninstaller gets updated with each flash player release. You also need to get the current copy to  uninstall the latest version of the flash players.
here are some notes I've placed in my script
REM WARNING a new copy of uninstall_flash_player.exe must always be used for every new Flash version.
    REM from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
REM After downloading remove the "unblock" stream from uninstall_flash_player.exe
    REM
This will get ride of all prevous version.
    uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall
after this you can install the current version with the msi files.
    Good luck.
