Detection Method Process during install

My question is in Reference to how it appears the detection method works in SCCM 2012. <o:p></o:p>
I am running the
AcrobatCleaner Tool which uninstalls Acrobat. In my case I am looking to uninstall version
11.x. This is set in the command line for the tool.<o:p></o:p>
In SCCM I have an application deployment type. I set a detection of the MSI for Acrobat
10. (If I set for 11.x It would not run and ver 10 it will not run if Acrobat 10 is installed which 11 would not be.) <o:p></o:p>
During the Application Discovery the MSI GUID is found.
The application is installed (Uninstalling version 11, producing a return code of 0)<o:p></o:p>
I am getting a return code 0 in the AppEnforce log. However it is showing failed in the Software Center and an error code of 0x87D00324<o:p></o:p>
Is there another process which the checks for the component which was set for the detection? <o:p></o:p>
It seems the install is running correctly.
Since Acrobat 10 is still not installed (Which is expected) after the uninstall it appears, The detection is being re-run and not finding it.<o:p></o:p>
If this is the case, any thoughts on what I should use for detection instead of Acrobat 10.x. Guess on option would be to put the exe in a MSI.<o:p></o:p>
Thanks for any input and helping me to know I am not crazy.

Hi,
Are you deploying the Application with the option to "Uninstall" and not install so you have your command in the uninstall string? That is what you should do, the error translates to "The application was not detected after installation
completed." which is correct if you have the Uninstall command for Acrobat in the Install option in the deployment type and not Uninstall.
So switching it to uninstall should do the trick.
Regards,
Jörgen

  • [Solved] Error upon selecting "base" package during install process

    Hey guys,
I got stuck in the install process. the following issue never occured to be before.
Upon selecting the base package during install and pressing "OK", i recieve the following error:
    ERROR: check_is_in needs a non-empty needle as $1 and a haystack as $2!(gote: check_is_in '' 'base')
and that throws me out of the installation process.
A google search on the error message only returned sites where the responsible script is postet.
I am installing arch linux on a lenovo x220, on a seperate ext4 partition.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I just read through this post and it did fix my issue.  However, I do not remember what mirror I selected.
It was a few selections below kernel.org......

  • Pass kernel arguments during install to force sata detection

Is it possible to pass kernel arguments during install of the 0.7.1 noodle base iso? I want the installer to detect my harddisc (with is a pata drive but I have a sata controller in my laptop) as sata. (Needed because of this problem http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=17696)
    Update
I managed to pass the kernel argument (just typed arch hdc=noprobe) but I have to do hdd=noprobe as well because otherwise my harddisc is not recognized at all. But as a result, I'm unable to get my dvd-drive working and for that I'm unable to use the reiserfs to format my root disc. Also my ethernet module can't be loaded so I'm still unable to install
    Solved
Problem solved, I managed to chroot into my install with the install cd (after doing the install but not having installed bootloader) and with passing kernel arguments hdc=noprobe hdd=noprobe I was able to install lilo on sda. I edited fstab and the kernel 2.6.15 handles the disc and the dvd-station very well. So I'm happy

Hmm, I saw that klibc before I installed to the pata drive.  I just ran pacman -Rd klibc before upgrading and had no problems.  Though, since klibc is a dependency of mkinitcpio, I should try removing the symlink rather than the package itself.

  • The setup not auto detect to force close or notify user close current process when install new version

I created an Project 2010 add-in and create two setup project for it the one for Project 2010 32-bit and another for 64-bit. The Add-in is loaded work fine on both project bit version. just i got an problem on 64-bit version setup.

The setups project has some settings:
    DetectNewInstalledVersion: true
    RemovePreviousVersions:true
    My problems is:
    - I create old version of Add-in setup version and install it (Version:1.0.0).
    - I open Microsoft project 2010 (add-in is loaded and ready to work).
    - I build a new version of add-in (Version:1.0.1, Product-Code is changed,  Upgrade-Code is same as old version)  and install it. Setup is complete and not notify the Project is current running and must be closed to install. the old files (myaddin.dll)
not be written by new files.
    - I close Project and open again. My add-in is not changed.
The problem is not occur on 32bit version of add-in.
Please help me resolve this problem. how i can force the setup detect my component  is current using by another process and must be close that process to install.

  • MSO 2010 Application deployment hangs if detection method for presence of deployment is specified

SCCM 2012 R2 is configured to deploy MSO 2010 to our systems, even the ones that already have it deployed. Regular deployment does not re-install MSO 2010 because it detects it already installed on a system, so I added "Detection Method" and configured
it to look for a file "mso_installed.txt" in C:\WINDOWS. A custom MS Office package was created to place this file into C:\WINDOWS during the setup as part of App deployment.
The logic is: if the app deployment does NOT find this file in C:\windows, it will force MSO reinstall. Introducing this method appears to hang the setup. I can see that deployment shows up in Software Center, content is downloaded, status changes to "installing"
and then nothing happens. Setup32.exe process appears to sit doing nothing - no change in CPU or MEM utilization. Eventually, the status changes to "Past due - will be installed".
We currently have a deployment that works, but doesn't have the detection method logic above. What could be causing this deployment not to work and if my method above is not ideal, what are my options for forcing re-install of the app, even if already present
    on the system?

  • Creating enhanced detection method via powershell

    Hi folks,
im trying to automate the application creation process and so far I got a lot of usefull hints and tipps from technet forum etc.pp.
I would like to set an registry detection method via powershell.
Since I am not used to C# I found a nice approach translating a C# script into PS script.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/93bddee4-6aee-4641-b104-170968ad1549/automating-application-creation?prof=required
Unfortunately I can't get it to work... (same error as descriped in the link above "generic Error from the Put()-Function.") When I am using e.g. an MSI productcode as detection method in my script, I am able to create an application with
    deploymenttype and detectionmethod.
Has anyone a solution for this problem ? Or was anyone able to set a registry detection via powershell ? Is it possible ?
    Any help will be appreciated.

Any time I've seen a Put() error, the problem has been I've been missing a needed property.
If you are using Config Manager 2012 R2 (Not sure about previous versions), you can use the built in cmdlet Add-CMDeploymentType.  This is the command I use.  For a PS detection type, change ScriptType to Powershell and $Script will be your detection
    script.
    $param = @{ApplicationName=$Name
                    DeploymentTypeName=$ScriptName
                    InstallationProgram=$Install
                    ScriptType="VBScript"
                    ScriptContent=$Script
                    InstallationBehaviorType="InstallForSystem"
                    ContentLocation=$SourceLocation
                    UninstallProgram = $Uninstall

  • How to use property Upgrade Code in detection method "Windows Installer"?

    Hi
I am a packaging specialists helping our deployment guys to add our software (100rds of installers) as application entries in SCCM 2012. The methods supplied by SCCM seem however quite generic and limited.
The detection method "Windows Installer" is hardcoded to use the Product Code, why?
Normal detection of Windows Installer packages are done using the Upgrade Code and the Product Version. Is it possible for us our self to add/reconfigure to use that method or are we forced to use the custom detection method?(both those methods should be provided
by SCCM to better match Windows Installer architecture)
Ps. It says in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632336.aspx for Version that "This
must be in the standard Windows Installer four-part version number format.", but the version number is 255.255.65535 (which is real stupid) as described by http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370859(v=vs.85).aspx. Ds.
    Regards
    Pär

Under LV 7.1 with DSC installed I get the same error code (-2147418113) but "explain error" gives me this.
"LabVIEW DSC:  (Hex 0x8000FFFF) Catastrophic failure."
This prompts the question is it possible to set an activeX object running in a container for Full Screen.
This is probably a Q for MS.
If it look like it is possible, try to get a VB example and that will tell us what we have to do to make this work.

  • Creative cloud installer just disappears during install

I had creative cloud and on last update most of the applications are gone along with the desktop icon.
I have tried to install creative cloud again - but it just stops halfway and disappears during install.
    I've tried safe mode install
Ive renamed OOBE folders in both librarys
I've tried the adobe application manager and that crashes on install
I've tried the Adobe clean up tool
Nothing is working to get creative cloud to reinstall on the computer - I've lost about 4 applications in creative cloud
Working on a Mac - Yosemite OS

Hi!  The cleaner failed - simply could not detect any creative cloud products. ( It did find a previous CS6 installation, long since uninstalled, actually).
Didn't get a chance to try ROOT, as an Adobe tech (Loveneesh) remoted in and did some 'known fixes'... basically he cleaned up the failed CC desktop installation ( deleted a couple of folders) - and then gave "wide open" permissions to a couple of sets of library folders ( One for machine, and one for user). I believe they were
    /library/application support/
    /library/application support/Adobe/
    /users/[username]/library/application support/
    /users/[username]/library/application support/Adobe/
Still couldn't install CC desktop, (failed twice!) BUT that at least allowed  the installation of "Adobe App Manager" - which was subsequently UPGRADED to CC Desktop. Something of a clever workaround, if you ask me!
And now its all working OK again.
I'm a bit bothered by the somewhat cavalier ""Everybody" permissions applied to library folders, but as I understand this is the quick fix when nobody quite knows what the heck is going on with permissions... (I suppose ROOT access gives much the same effect for installations)

  • Error during install of the iTunes 11.0.1 update on Windows Vista

Error during the process of installing the iTunes update to 11.0.1, when iTunes attempts to write to file C:\Config.msi\b530a0c.rbf. iTunes says it can't access that directory, but i'm installing iTunes as an Administrator.  And i don't find the specified file in this directory on my c:\ drive

I seem to have solved this problem as follows:
    1.  Download the iTunes.exe file from apple.com, but save the file to my Desktop rather than running it.
    2.  Execute (double click) the iTunes.exe file from my Desktop.
    3.  When i encountered the problem that i've reported (the iTunes installer announces that it can't access a file in the c:\config.msi directory, i clicked the Retry button in the error window.  The iTunes installer process appeared to move past the error.
    4.  I experienced the same error one more time during my apparently successful iTunes 11.0.1 install, but the 2nd time this error came up iTunes reported that it was trying to access a different file name in the c:\config.msi directory.  Again, i clicked the Retry button in the error window and the iTunes installer appeared to move on past the error.

  • "WRITE SAME failed. Manually zeroing." error during install or boot

    Hello everyone!
Since the lasts kernels (I'm almost sure it happens since 3.9 because 3.8 worked fine) I can't boot on Archlinux anymore. This error floods my screen and I can't do anything, and because the new Archlinux iso (june 2013) comes with 3.9 kernel it now also happens during installation. Fortunately, I saved the may iso so I still can install archlinux and switch during install to LTS kernel but this is not a good solution. I can't find a solution online, some people have this issue but it seems to be a bit different everytime.
I use Archlinux on a server, with hardware raid : Dell PERC H200a with LSI SAS2008 according to my BIOS. According to http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_3.7, the WRITE SAME SCSI command "allows the same block to be efficiently replicated throughout a block range. Only a single logical block is transferred from the host and the storage device writes the same data to all blocks described by the I/O (commit)". Here is the exact configuration :
    - DELL® PowerEdge R210 II
    - 1x Intel® Xeon® E3 1220 V2
    - HDD: 2 x 1 To SATA2 RAID
    - RAID: Hardware, Dell PERC H200, (Raid 1)
So my first problem is that I can't find online if my server is capable of this command (but I don't think so) and then the other issue is that I want to know if I can disable it. I found kernel patches for this issue :
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1898441/ and https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1982051/ (the first link seems to be a better solution).
Then, I checked in the kernel source of 3.9 and I think that this patch isn't implemented (there is no device_write_same_capable function for instance). But kernel patching is not a really good solution, if I have to patch my kernel everytime the main kernel is updated...
After some research, I found that my hardware RAID driver seems (I'm not sure) to be the kernel module "mpt2sas", so I checked both may and june isos of Archlinux and it's the same version (14.1) so it shouldn't be the problem.
Does somebody can help me on this issue ? I don't really know what to do now.
Thanks for reading, if I forgot something or if you want more informations, ask me!
    Bye.
PS : My English isn't very good, sorry.
EDIT : I found a part of the solution ! It seems to be an issue with the kernel that doesn't detect properly if my disc is capable of doing WRITE SAME command.
So I have to write "0" in the file "max_write_same_blocks" under /sys. But the problem is that /sys is renewed every boot so I don't know how to make my changes permanent. I made a systemd service file, it almost works, but this solution isn't nice : the parameter is applied lately so errors shows at the beginning and this is not really easy to set up. I prefer a solution like "sysctl" but it seems that it only controls parameter under /proc/sys and not /sys, am I right ?
Moreover, I tried two other things : Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.9.4 works and Archlinux iso with 3.8.10 has max_write_same_blocks > 0 and it also works... So I don't really understand this issue. Maybe in 3.8 the parameter max_write_same_blocks has no effect (or not the same as in 3.9) ?
Here is the systemd file that I made to reduce the issue :
    [Unit]
    Description=No WRITE SAME
    After=local-fs.target

I found a solution to disable the WRITE SAME command. That doesn't answer all my questions but it solves my issue. I was looking for a file like "sysctl.conf" but for /sys parameters : you already can do that in Arch, just create a file that ends with ".conf" in tmpfiles.d and add one line per parameter you want to modify. This file will be loaded early at boot.
To disable it in an existing Archlinux installation, add in you file the line :
    w /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/host0/target0:1:0/0:1:0:0/scsi_disk/0:1:0:0/max_write_same_blocks - - - - 0
Read the manpage of tmpfiles.d if you don't understand this line, it depends on your configuration and you can't copy it.
Then reboot and no more error !
If you want to disable it during the Arch install, just change directly the value you want in /sys. You have to do it at the beginning before mounting partitions, for instance just after choosing your keymap.
    Bye.

  • Wireless Works during install.... Does not work after install.

    Hiya!
I just finally finished semi-installing from live.  it's exciting.  I'm stuck at cli trying to get wireless to work.
it's really weird.  First-  I only have wireless (it's from my downstairs neighbors).  I used it DURING the install process- downloaded all of the packages, etc etc.
But when I start up my computer, I get a [FAIL] by network (it does not start up).   However, if i # ifconfig wlan0 up, the wireless turns on.
    iwconfig does not work
and I cannot scan for networks...
During install, I was able to see the names of every network.
There isn't any sort of password for the router I would like to connect to (and connected to before); it's just a linksys.
My wireless card is intel 5300 and I'm almost certain I installed the 5000 driver package.
    Thoughts?
Perhaps I should go to sleeeeeeep..

  • HP Envy m6 - getting error while recovery of my OS. Detect some error during PININST_BBV

I am receiving the following error while reinstalling my OS using the HP recovery Discs.
I get this window with no close button except for Save , Details or Retry.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : or, check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log
(The two .LOG files do not exist on the C: partition which is there.)
My hard disk has crashed, so I used a new one [1 TB] which is bigger in size from the factory installed 750GB.
I did all the tests by pressing F2 - system diagnostics. All system tests have passed.
Please help me with the solution, as I need my laptop running ASAP, but the recovery is giving problems.
I did other procedures to reset the Boot options to Factory defaults using F9. IT didnt help me.
It keeps throwing the same error.

I have tried all the suggestions to change the BIOS date from year 2013 to 2012.  The recovery CD's shipped from HP automatically changes the date to 8/27/2012.  I can't help it.
I bought another new HDD with size 750 GB similar to the facotory shipped HDD.  Did the start-up test again. Everything passed.  But, in the recovery, I still have no luck.
I reordered the Recovery discs from HP which had the application repair disc as well. I used all the 4 recovery discs , and the system ran for almost 2.5 hours and gave the same Error  PININST_BBV  , BurnbootWan.log and other one.
Can anybody help to resolve my recovery issue ASAP. the model is HP envy m6-1188ca.

  • Adobe AIR fails during install

    21.5" intel iMac, 10.6.1, 4GB RAM, CS4 Premium new install - upgrade from CS2.
    CS4 successfully installed to laptop.
iMac <easy installation> timed out several times during install, the first time trying to install Adobe AIR. System setup transferred from previous machine, including CS2 apps, settings, etc.
This is a replacement iMac for a defective unit returned 5 days ago. Was able to install CS4 on defective machine minus transfered user info, applications, data. (Prior to return to Apple CS4 was deactivated, SN removed. Subsequent launch of PS into trial mode confirmed.)
After quitting the app installer several times discovered the dialogue box below was hidden by installer box. Clicking "OK" allowed process to continue.
CS4 is now installed and updated, but I don't know which apps the dialogue box was referring to, or if this requires a solution.

I did not find automatic graphics switching, but after several failed attempts of trying to install it, it eventually installed.
