Determine How long a connection using file services stays active for

Hello all,
I am trying to resolve an issue which may be related to the allowable concurrent transactions in Windows 7 Pro. We have a program that runs on 17 computers that connects to a MYSQL 5 database on a master machine running windows 7. There is an action that
occurs on each of the 17 slave computers initiated by a user. The program creates a file to a network share on the master, however this share isnt a permanant share network share on the slave computers. The program creates the file into a location it is told
to such as \\computername\share\ and this path location is held in the software. What I need to find out is when the slave computers create the file in the share location how long does it 'reserve' that connection? does it release it straight away or does
it hold the connection for sometime before releasing it for another 'concurrent' connection.

You can use this command netstat -ano 
and determine the number of active connections. 
For SQL specific queries, you can post the same in SQL forums. The above is applicable to shares.
