Determining the date on the clients computer

Does anyone know of a way to determine the Date/Time of the clients computer using JSP?
For example:
request.getRemoteAddr();
can be used to determine the IP Address of the client - is there a similar method that can be used to get the clients Date/Time?
I browsed the javadoc and googled for a while, but I can't seem to find anything on the topic.
I'd prefer not to have to rely on javascript if at all possible...
Thanks in advance
Tristen

I think you are going to be limited to javascript getting that for you via a javascript:new Date() call.
If you want to get fancy and stick with java, you will need to create an applet that will communicate back to the servet with the Date when it runs on your JSP.

  • How can I display the front panel of the dinamically loaded VI on the cliente computer, the VI dinamically loaded contains files, I want to see the files that the server machine has, in the client machine

I can successfully view and control a VI remotly. However, the remote VI dinamically loads another VI, this VI loaded dinamically is a VI that allows open others VIs, I want to see the files that contains the server machine, in the client machine, but the front panel of the dinamic VI appears only on the server and not on the client, How can I display the fron panel with the files of the server machine of the dinamically loaded VI on the client computer?

I down loaded your files but could use some instructions on what needs run.
It seems that you are so close yet so far. You need to get the data on the server machine over to the client. I generally do this by doing a call by reference (on the client machine) of a VI that is served by the server. THe VI that executes on the server should pass the data you want to diplay via one of its output terminals. You can simply wire from this terminal (back on the client again) to an indicator of your choosing.
Now theorectically, I do not think that there is anything that prevents use from getting the control refnum of the actual indicator (on the server) of the indicator that has the data, and read its "Value" using a property node. I have never tried this idea but it seems t
hat all of the parts are there. You will need to know the name of the VI that holds the data as well as the indicator's name. You will also have to serve all VI's. This is not a good idea.

  • What determines the client connection memory size?

We are trying to scale up the number of connections on our db - (dedicated not shared) .. but quickly consume the box.
    Its 11gr1 - Linux .. 500G of memory ..
The "only" parameter we have set is:
    *.memory_target=216522555392  (~200G)
Processes set to 6000 - but are are only around 1800 at this point.
We are seeing (via top) client connections with a reserved memory of 25-30g (usually the dbwr type processes) and client connections showing 5-10G in size.
With clients taking this much memory,  we start to see swapping on the box. In our dev/qa environment the clients are in the MB range .. of course they are not seeing real world traffic so I presume that memory requirements are growing as the app runs.
Can we set something to reduce the footprint of the client connections?
    Thanks for any tips..
If we get one db bounce this year .. we want to be right .. cant guess here..

    >Can we set something to reduce the footprint of the client connections?
    no
Since *NIX maps SGA into every client's process, displayed RAM size is distorted.
If you simply SUM every reported client size, it will greatly exceed total RAM (in most cases)
The fact that any swap is used is in itself not a negative indicator.

  • Client computer showing a restart notice prior to the software updates deadline date

Does the SCCM 2012 client send notices to the client computer prior to the software update deadline date, but not actually restart the computer until the deadline has been reached?
I am asking because I see that there are restart notices in my System log when filtering Event IDs 1074, 6006, and 6005, but when I filter Event ID 12116 on the Application log, it only shows one restart on the day of the deadline being initiated by SCCM.
I am assuming the SCCM client will generate a computer restart notice after a software update deadline is set and the client systems receive the policies from the Site Server, but not actually restart until the deadline, but I am just speculating.
If someone can offer an explanation here, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you very much

On the day that I deployed my SUG, here is what the Event Viewer shows for the following Event IDs in the System Log:
    System Log Events
    Event ID 1074
The process C:\Windows\system32\winlogon.exe (Computer1) has initiated the restart of computer Computer1 on behalf of user MyDomain\User1 for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
     Reason Code: 0x500ff
     Shutdown Type: restart
     Comment:
    Event ID 6005
The Event log service was started.
    Event ID 6006
The Event log service was stopped.
On the actual deadline day, here is what the Event Viewer shows for my Application Log, but it does not show any previous restarts like the System Log shows:
    Application Log Event
    Event ID 12116
Configuration Manager restarted the computer to complete installation of software or software updates.

  • Backing up the server to a large drive on a client computer.

    Hi,
I'm running a small network with a Windows 2012 Server Essentials server and 8 client computers running Windows 7 pro. One of my client computers is located in the building adjacent to the server home building some 200ft away. This computer is hard wired
into the network and functions fine. I installed a large secondary hard drive onto this computer and shared it with the network. It's visible and accessible to the network. I'd like to configure Windows Backup to backup the server each day to the secondary
hard drive, however I'm having trouble configuring Backup. It seems that Backup only wants to back up to an external hard drive connected to the server with a USB connection. Please advise me how, if it's even possible, to configure Backup to back up the the
client computer. Will I have to invest in a 3rd party software to accomplish this? If I need additional backup software can you reccommend one?
    Thank you for your input.

    Hi,
It is supported to backup to a network share. See:
Configure Automatic Backups to a Remote Shared Folder
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd851825.aspx
However a possible problem is that it will only keep 1 copy when we back up to a network location.
A possible workaround is to backup with command line and use a wild-cast like:
    wbadmin start backup -backuptarget:\\computer\share\"%date%" -systemstate - include:x:
I will create different folders instead of overwriting the original one.
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

  • Issue with re-connecting a Client Computer to the Server Essentials R2 2012

I have an issue re-connecting a Client Computer to Server Essentials R2 2012.  The Client Computer in question was connected to the Sever originally.  I started getting Error Messages indicating that I was running out of storage room.  I
had been wanting to re-configure this Server with additional Hard Drives for some time, but something else always came up first.  Now, I was forced to address the problem.  I shut down the Server and added additional Hard Drives and while I was at
it I replaced the original Hard Drive that the Server Operating System was on with a much smaller Hard Drive, and reinstalled Server Essentials on that Drive.  Everything was working fine and the Server Back-up went fine to an external Hard Drive.
I was ready to re-install my Client Computers.  I started with my primary Production Computer first.  The Connector Software seemed to install fine, but as I moved through the Connection Wizard I received the following Error Message:  "Cannot
connect this computer to the network.  This computer is already connected to another Windows Server Network.  Before connecting this computer to the Windows Server Essentials network, you must remove this computer from the current network.
To resolve this issue, contact the person responsible for your network".  I am the Administrator.  I removed the Connector Software following the instructions in the "Troubleshooting connecting computers to the Server", but I continue
to get the Error Message whenever I attempt to re-connect the Client Computer.  I have not attempted to connect any of the other three Client Computers yet as I need to resolve this issue first on my primary production machine.  Where am I going
wrong?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi PARADOX-RED,
Based on the error messages that you provided, please remove the connector software from Control Panel completely. Then, in the problematic computer, please locate
to: Control Panel-> System-> select Change settings. And select the Computer Name tab in the System Properties dialog box, click
change button. Then in the Computer Name/Domain Changes dialog box, please take the computer out of the domain as a workgroup, and rejoin in new domain.
Please check if this issue can be solved. If it still exists, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • SCCM Client Push Installation Wizard does not install the client. CCMSetup folder - not created

    Hello,
I have tried running the Client Push wizard for a single computer or a pilot collection of 8 computers, the result is always
the same - no SCCM client is installed on any computer.
The computers are running 32-bit Windows XP SP2.
    The Windows firewall is disabled.
The client push installation account is setup and have domain admin and local admin privileges. Client Push automatic method
    is not enabled.
The domain is AD WIndows 2000.
The SCCM server is running Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bit Standard.
The AD schema has been extended.
MP, and SLP are installed and published. (MP is published in DNS as well.)
    FSP is installed.
MP, SLP and FSP are running on the same server.
SQL 2005 server is running locally.
System management container is created and all rights and permissions delegated.
With the Push installation account I can access C$ share on the client computer from the SCCM server.
RPC, Remote registry, WMI services are running on the client machines.
All prerequisites are installed from the client folder on SCCM server- latest BITS 2.5, Windows installer 3.1 and MSXML6.
All computers are in the same IP subnet which is listed in the boundaries.
Yet, the client is not being installed.
No CCMSetup folder is created on the client machines in Windows\System32 folder, so it is really difficult to troubleshoot
what the is the issue. I do not see anything helpful in the ccm.log on the server.
I have tried running the CCMSetup.exe manually on one of the workstations and that was successful and reported back to the
    SCCM server / console.
What else I should check / try? I really want to push agents via the wizard.
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Hi Wally,
    I have changed 2 things:
    1. Enabed automatic push installation (so I am not usign the wizard any more)
    2. Changed the IP subnet to IP ranges in the site boundairies.
After runnignt the discovery, I was able to see some activities in the ccm.log. A ccmsetup folder is now created but the agent is still not instaleld. Here is the ccmsetup.log

  • "We have consolidated 2 of our MATRIXx licenses ver 6.2.2 & 7.0 onto a single server. Now I want to run them on the clients as well. How do I go about?

Two different versions of MATRIXx licenses to be loaded & run on the clients as well??

You will need a copy of the license.dat file on the client computer to use the floating licenses from a server. You can either copy the license.dat file from the server. Or you can create a proxy license file. A proxy license file is a two line file, where the first line is the first line from the server license file. The second line is USE_SERVER. For example
    SERVER host1 17003456 2700
    USE_SERVER
If you are using redundant servers you will need one line for each server. For example
    SERVER host1 17003456 2700
    SERVER host2 17006789 2700
    SERVER host3 1700EF34 2700
    USE_SERVER
The advantage of using a proxy license file is that if the licenses change on the server you do not need to update all the clients. In both cases you would place the license.dat
in the ISILM directory of the client.

  • Opening a text file in server from an applet running in the client

    Friends,
    I want to open a text file in the server(The server machine uses tomcat 4.1.12 server)from an applet running in the client machine;
The applet invokes a servlet that opens the text file;this text file is opened in the server machine; but I want it to be opened in the client machine where the applet is running.
Plese help me to get around this.

You can open the textfile on the servlet and then send the information to the client (applet) as stirngs. The must then applet convert the stirngs into some object or simply display the information in someway. But then the text file that you are opening must be stored in some relevant tomcat directory e.g. on the server. If you want to open a file on the clients computer, you get into signed applets.

  • Read a directory on the clients box

    All,
I have written some code that when you make a pick in the web browser I want it to give you a list of files in a directory on your computer.
    File current_dir = new File("e:\\pro_work\\.proi");
    String file_list[] = current_dir.list();
This is a piece of the code I use and it seems to work fine when I am testing the application on my own box. When I go over to another persons machine and try it . I get the directory listing of my computer. I am using Netbeans as the server until I get it finished and deploy it. Any help on how Ithe client would see the list of iles on there machine would be appreciated. Thanks

No, you can't access the client computer with java code.
Java runs on the server. Thats why they call it Java Server Pages.
You would need an applet/activex control to access the client computer's file system.

  • Getting the domain name of the Client PC using WebUtil

    Hi Guys,
Is there a way I can find the domain name of the computer running the forms using webutil.
I use WEBUTIL_CLIENTINFO.GET_HOST_NAME to get the client computer name. I would also need the domain name.
    Thanks!
    Anand

    Try this:
message(CLIENT_WIN_API_ENVIRONMENT.GET_ENVIRONMENT_STRING('USERDOMAIN'));I believe if no domain is defined, it will return the host name. Also, this obviously will only work on Windows clients.

  • Two versions of jdk and RTE on the same computer

When Installing j2sdk1.4.1_01 I had not uninstalled jdk1.1.8 believeing that the new version would overwrite the old one.
But instead it installed alongside the old one.
I now have both showing up in the Cintrol Panel/Programms and I have two relevant folders on w2k drive.
    Might the collide?
I was about to remove jdk1.1.8, but noticed that it takes 28.1 Mb whereas j2sdk1.4.1_01 is only 1.88 mb - perhaps j2sdk1.4.1_01 uses some files from the old one, and removing the old, I disable the new one?
The same about Java 2 RTE: I have both v.1.2.2 (19MB) and 1.4.1_01 (1.6 Mb)
    What would you recommend?

Thanks, sounds like a good idea.
I uninstalled all the versions of JDK and of RE and re-booted the PC as prompted.
Question: folders j2sdk1.4.1_01 and jdk1.1.8 are still there - should I remove them manually?
Before reinstalling JDK and RE, I run an ASP page with a java-applet, sitting on my PC. As expected, the applet was shown as an empty rectangular.
However, when I accessed a similar page on the Internet, the applet there was working fine.
I was dead sure that the applet is executed on the client computer and that computer heeds RunTimeEnvironment which I uninstalled.
In any case all the applets should either work or not work, nomater whether they are sitting on my local drive or downloaded with a page from the Internet.
I feel I am missing something. Could you provide further comments?

PS. I have multiple partitions on that disk with two other OS - can this be a cause?
When RE is installed, which folder and where to is added?

  • RDS Per Device CAL - Where is it stored on the Client?

I'm having an issue with running out of CALs too quickly. 70 clients with 100 Licenses.
I have Deep Freeze on several of the Thin Clients. After restarting the thin clients the revert back to a default state, removing any changes. I believe that when my RDS server issues a CAL to one of these, the thin client looses the issues CAL to it once
it restarts. SO my question is, where Does the CAL get stored specifically so I can allow that area to be changed.

    Hi Jmair,
When Per Device licensing mode is used, and a client computer or device connects to an RD Session Host server for the first time, the client computer or device is issued a temporary
license by default. When a client computer or device connects to an RD Session Host server for the second time, if the license server is activated and enough RDS Per Device CALs are available, the license server issues the client computer or device a permanent,
RDS Per Device CAL. The temporary license is valid for 90 days.
An RDS Per User CAL gives one user the right to access an RD Session Host server from an unlimited number of client computers or devices. RDS Per User CALs are not enforced
by RD Licensing. As a result, client connections can occur regardless of the number of RDS Per User CALs installed on the license server. This does not absolve administrators from Microsoft Software License Terms requirements to have a valid RDS Per User CAL
for each user. Failure to have an RDS Per User CAL for each user, if Per User licensing mode is being used, is a violation of the license terms.
Client will get a Temp CAL while it firstly logged on the RDS server. After the client logged off and logged on the RDS Server again. The client will get a permanent CAL. So
you could see the temp CALs, it’s expected behavior.
