DEV_ICM_SEC logs filling up disk

I'm getting the message below, over and over. I can't figure out why or where it is coming from. I konw this is the ICM Security Log file, but that's about all I know at this point. The log file grows to 500KB, then a new one is created. These files are taking up over 5 GBs of disk space. Aside from constantly deleting them I want to find out the cause. Any idea as to where to start looking?

  • Best Practices: opmn/logs filling up disk

    Has anyone experienced( I assume we all have this issue) with the logs in the $HTTP_SERVER_HOME/opmn/logs getting HUGE. I have APEX 3.0 installed on a UNIX box. Also I do not have a full install of Oracle AS, only the DB http server. What happens is that the logs fill up and the disk hits 100% so the HTTP server can't be started. We bring the DB and HTTP server down every evening and back up every morning(this is done with a scheduling tool that calls a couple of scripts) but it looks like it is only taking about half a day to fill up the logs(depends on the amount of activity on the different apps in APEX). Maybe this isn't the right place for this, if not I'll move it over to the other forums.
    Any thoughts/suggestions.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
    That's an error message indicating that you're trying to run it on the same port as something else, take a look at the following thread -
    ons.log growing enormously in 10g on RHEL3
    which shows you how to resolve it.

  • SQL Logs filling up disk space

    Hi there,
    On my DEV SQL Server - suddenly the logs have been filling up space so quickly - this morning I increased 10 GIGs and now it is full again just in a few hours.
    What action should I take?
    - Is it okay to switch Recovery Model from Full to Simple? (It is DEV server)
    - Anything else?
    Thanks.

    Hi frob,
    For development databases, if you don’t care that if recent data changes are lost, you can change the recovery model from full to simple. Then shrink the transaction log file to a reasonable size, below is a example for you, please note that you can't shrink
    it below its original size.
    USE AdventureWorks2012;
    GO
    -- Truncate the log by changing the database recovery model to SIMPLE.
    ALTER DATABASE AdventureWorks2012
    SET RECOVERY SIMPLE;
    GO
    -- Shrink the truncated log file to 1024 MB.
    DBCC SHRINKFILE (AdventureWorks2012_Log, 1024);
    GO
    Additionally, there are other options resolving the issue that SQL Server  log file grows out of control as follows.
    • Backing up transaction logs frequently.
    • Adding a log file on a different disk.
    • Completing or killing a long-running transaction.

  • Mail logs filling up disk space: why? ok to delete?

    Computer spec’s: 2GHz Mac Mini with 4GB of RAM and a 250GB flash storage. I am running OS 10.9.5 and Mail 7.3.
    Problem: My storage has been mysteriously filling up, with about 200 GB in “other” in “about this Mac.” I would delete files and then it would fill up again. Using WhatSize, I determined that Mail logs took up 107GB, with two files accounting for most of this (details below).
    Questions: Is it safe to delete Mail logs? Why are some so big? Why are dates so random? Can I prevent large mail logs in the future?
    In Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Logs, here are the dates and size of the largest files named in format: [long stream of numbers and letters]=imap.gmail.com.txt
    July 15: 55.8 GB
    Sept 3: 47.17 GB
    Aug 6: 5.43 GB
    Aug 6 3.64 GB
    Then there are six files between 312GB and 867.2 GB and many others named in the above format and multiple files named in this format: [date]_GmailDelete.log dating back to May 21.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi, I'm having a very similar trouble but I do not use Gmail. I have several mail accounts, essentially from 2 mail server providers (hosting and registrar companies), most accounts in IMAP but some still in POP.
    I'm on a PowerBook pro, retina 15 mid 2012, 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7, with 750 Gb SSD disk", running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    Since one week I experience the same problem, disk space filling up without appearant reasons. In the Data/Library/Logs/Mail I have 541 files (!!), some of them very huge. I have deleted a 75 Gb file and another of 13Gb, but I still have files from more than 9Gb (ten file obver 1Gb).
    I have changed passwords in my accounts and even to access my hosting proividers. But no changes.
    Deleting the huge files in the Logs doesn't seem to affect Mails except the fact that I have to enter all POP / IMAP and SMTP passwords :-(
    In the logs, the hugest files are "2015-03-18_IMAPMailboxSyncEngine.log", 2mail.mydomainname-d44f367b-6650-4ddf-9cc6-4fe08822ab6c.txt", "2015-03-21_SocketStreamEvents.log", "137778C8-7690-48F3-877E-48D400322117-mail.mydomainename.txt", and I have plenty like that.
    The question is, where the problemn comes from ??
    When deleting the log files ... the problem is not solved because it continues to filling it with new logs, again ..
    Thank you for your assistance and help.

  • Logs are filling up disk space

    Dear all
    i am facing a problem in my database
    the database is in archive log mode and continuous archiving of log is filling up the disk space
    please let me know what should i do so that at the end of activity there should be no complaints of logs filling up
    i wil ensure the big disk space
    please let me know what kind of administration i have to do with this issue ...

    hello Sagar
    when you use RMAN for backup you can set RETENTION POLICY for window of day or redundancy for example
    RMAN> CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 3 DAYS;
    or
    RMAN> CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 3;
    and when you backup use "BACKUP ... PLUS ARCHIVELOG" for example
    BACKUP DEVICE TYPE sbt
    DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG;
    it cause that RMAN when backup your database , backup your archived logs too ;
    and about that two first CONFIGURE command
    first command cause backupfiles and archived log files that backuped up before than 3 days signed obsolete in V$BACKUP_FILES view
    (you can query the V$BACKUP_FILES view and check the OBSOLETE column)
    second command cause backupfiles and archived log files that backuped up 3 times signed obsolete in V$BACKUP_FILES view
    and if you use "DELETE OBSOLETE ..." command in RMAN it delete obsolete files
    and your archived logs that backued up and are obsolete will be delete
    AND you can use DBMS_SCHEDULER for synchronize this routine

  • Starting sunstudio without DISPLAY: ide.log fills up the disk

    We had a user starting sunstudio from a terminal that didn't have DISPLAY set. I'd expect sunstudio to fail, like in the case when DISPLAY has a non-valid value, but no: The process goes into an infinite loop and the ide.log fills with exeception messages.
    I guess this is a bug - but is it a known bug?
    A search on sunsolve didn't give any match - except for an old bug where the command did exit silently (see http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4917734).
    Regards,
    Bernd

    I can't reproduce this problem with Sun Studio 12:
    $ unset DISPLAY
    $ sunstudio
    /opt/12/SUNWspro/bin/sunstudio: ERROR: environment variable DISPLAY is not set
    So even if there was such a bug, it has been fixed.

  • Samba log filling up

    Hi!
    My customers' server is filling it's Samba log for some reason. Obviously it fills the disk up and the we are in trouble...
    Followin appears every 30 sek:
    readsocketdata: recv failure for 4. Error = Connection reset by peer
    [2008/04/14 09:36:59, 0] /SourceCache/samba/samba-100.9/samba/source/lib/utilsock.c:read_socketdata(400)

    I believe its fixed.
    open Keychain Access then select Keychain Access -> Keychain First Aid
    Run a repair
    Select the crlcache.db keychain and right click -> delete files and associations
    Run a repair
    I had to do the set twice until crlcache.db was no longer in my keychain.   After it was removed, the logs no longer posted when I used safari.

  • Best way to move redo log from one disk group to another in ASM?

    Hi All,
    Our db is 10.2.0.3 RAC db. And database servers are window 2003 server.
    We need to move more than 50 redo logs (some are regular and some are standby) which are not redundant from one disk group to another. Say we need to move from disk group 1 to 2. Here are the options we are thinking about but not sure which one is the best from easiness and safety prospective.
    Thank you very much for your help in advance.
    Shirley
    Option 1:
    1)     shutdown immediate
    2)     copy log files from disk group 1 to disk group2 using RMAN (need to research on this)
    3)     startup mount
    4)     alter database rename file ….
    5)     Open database open
    6)     delete the redo files from disk group 1 in ASM (how?)
    Option 2:
    1)     create a set of redo log groups in disk group 2
    2)     drop the redo log groups in disk group 1 when they are inactive and have been archived
    3)     delete the redo files associated with those dropped groups from disk group 1 (how?) (According to Oracle menu: when you drop the redo log group the operating system files are not deleted and you need to manually delete those files)
    Option 3:
    1)     create a set of redo members in disk group 2 for each redo log group in disk group 1
    2)     drop the redo log memebers in disk group 1
    3)     delete the redo files from disk group 1 associated with the dropped members

    Absolutely not, they are not even remotely similar concepts.
    OMF: Oracle Managed Files. It is an RDMBS feature, no matter what your storage technology is, Oracle will take care of file naming and location, you only have to define the size of a file, and in the case of a tablespace on an OMF DB Configuration you only need to issue a command similar to this:
    CREATE TABLESPACE <TSName>; So the OMF environment creates an autoextensible datafile at the predefined location with 100M by default as its initial size.
    On ASM it should only be required to specify '+DGroupName' as the datafile or redo log file argument so it can be fully managed by ASM.

  • Online redo logs fill-up due to long running SCM processes

    DB2 v9.7
    AIX v6.1 P570
    Running Standard SAP Code
    Going live with SCM system running SNP/DP GATP how can we avoid having our online redo logs fill-up due to long running processes (i.e., CTM. Process Chains, BOP, DP Runs) Need to know SAP Best Practice regarding this -
    Per our developers, BOP jobs performs commit when everything is processed and update table in one go at end, Hence not possible to perform commit regularly. Actually they will have to run BOP for 3200 material with 98000 sales order items.
    But after just running BOP for 40 material with 22000 sales orders line items we are getting DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR + CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB dumps
    Any assistance on this would be helpful...
    Thanks -

    Fred
    Check OSS notes for this error. The BOP compponent has a steady stream of corrections developed by SAP especially in older releases.
    Also make sure your Livecache Build is consistent with SCM Release/ Patch level.

  • System.log fills up with uninstall_folder_path no 0

    My system.log fills up with the following text:
    Apr 10 22:09:48 Macken DelMonitor[60]: hokan
    Apr 10 22:09:48 Macken DelMonitor[60]: uninstall_path no 0
    Apr 10 22:09:48 Macken DelMonitor[60]: uninstall_folder_path no 0
    Apr 10 22:09:50 Macken DelMonitor[60]: install_path yes
    These four lines adds every other second, and just fills upp the system.log.
    I habe tried to google but can not find any clues to what this is and how to make it stop!
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    I have a Mac Book Pro with verson 10.7.3
    Regards,

    It's some third-party software that you installed, but I can't be more specific. If you can't figure it out any other way, you'll just have to start uninstalling things until the log messages stop.

    Update your BRTools. They are very old.
    Check that your DB is in archive-log-mode. If no enable it.
    testing backup
    - run a online backup
    - run "sqlplus / as sysdba"
    - SQL> alter system switch logfile; ... this switches the current online log... a new log will written to oraarch.
    - run a archivelog backup
    ... now you should have complete db-backup with minimum 1!!! archive log.
    Now you can delete old redologs from oraarch.
    If this doesn't work and your database is in archive-log-mode:
    - shutdown sap and oracle
    - MOVE all redologs from oraarch to a other location manually... no more files should be on oraarch
    - run a offline backup
    If the offline backup was running successfully you can delete the prior moved redologs. The backup is consistent and the redologs will no more required.
    - start oracle and sap
    Oracle should now write new redologs to oraarch. Test online backup!

    Hi
    I want to take Redo log backup on disk. what changes i have to made in init<SID>.sao file.
    Regards
    Vikram

    Hi Vikram,
    If you use brtools then even without parameter change in init<SID>.sap also you can take backup.You have to provide media as disk at the time of backup then the backup will be stored in the default ....../<SID>/sapbackup.
    You you want to take backup to some other place then you have to change the parameter
    archive_copy_dir=<dirctory where you want to take the backup>
    But if you want to take using db13 then you have to change the parameter for backup media to disk
    backup_dev_type = disk
    archive_copy_dir = /oracle/<SID>/sapbackup

    This works for me and stops the logs filling with the messages. I'm not sure when I set the LCD display settings, but I imagine it was when I was learning what the settings do.
    Just select the items in the top 'lcd module settings' table and set them to no display.

    Do you have any threshold action stored procs firing in the master database and if so could you post (as a *txt attachment) the said proc(s)?

  • Logs filled up circular logging not working

    hey. i have exchange 2010 with dag and logs filled up and shut down database.  i remove some logs according to old date then i turn on circular logging.  But still not logs shrinking but only growing.  i move more logs now.  how come
    circular loggins not work?  i dismount and remount already.  thank you in advace.
    EC David

    EC,
    Do you have time to just run a full backup?
    The reason why the circular logging is not working is because you need to break the DAG.  Dismount the passive copy, remove the copy then dismount the active.  Once you remount the circular logging should work.  Once that is done you Or you
    can just run a full backup if you have the time to let the logs truncate from that.  Either way you will have to run a backup.  Actually, why don't you just run a full backup?
    Oh, if you go that route, don't forget to reseed the database.  I hope you can just do a full backup.
