Developing a reader in VB6

Hi,
We are trying to make an app to read PDF using VB6, we are using the acropdf.dll activex v7.0.
So, we are trying to get the hypertext string when the user make a click on a www link inside the pdf, but the control does not allow that operation.
1) Is there any way we can get the hypertext string in VB ?
2) Is there a manual about that activex to know more about the events and properties ?

1 - no.
2 - all the information about the ActiveX control is in the Acrobat SDK along with sample code, etc.

Start adobe Reader by VB6

Hello,
to start Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) in VB6 by set AcroApp = createObject("AcroExch.App") and open a Document by set AVDoc = chreatObject("AcroExch.AVDoc") and AVDoch.open "c:\test.pdf". That's O.K.
When I start this way with a Reader-installation, then I take runtime error "429" by set set AcroApp = createObject("AcroExch.App")
How can I get the Reader Application per VB? Is there any chance?

After intrgrating with Webcenter site with EClipse using CSDT plugin. When i tries to create a template using eclipse IDE. And when i click on 'Create New Template' icon on eclipse , I am getting error "*** Developer Tools: Reading sites for user: fwadmin returned status: Forbidden"

Check if your user has correct permission or not.

Develop a reader plugin

Hi I am a dev (not a co.) & want to develop plugin for Adobe Reader, I'd like to know licencing policy for developng a plugin for reader. Would request your replies/suggestion at the earliest ?

But note that if as an invidual you want to develop to save yourself from buying Acrobat, that will not work as you will need Acrobat to develop the plug-in.

Sql Developer not reading right tnsnames.ora

I have both a local 9iv2 and a 10xe (app_express) databases installed. Oracle home is set to ora92 and therefore should be reading the tnsnames.ora file in c:\oracle\ora92\network\admin. However, I recently used SQL Developer to connect to the 10xe database, and now all it reads is the tnsnames.ora file in the oraclexe\....\network\admin directory.
Any suggestions as to how to get it to use the tnsnames.ora from the ora92 home again??
The only solution I can think of now is to create one tnsnames.ora file with all the connections I need and copy it to each place where a tnsnames.ora file has been installed (ora92, ver 8 server, oraclexe, designer, forms/reports installs - etc.) Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I don't know why it is not reading from the specified home.

SQL Developer cannot read collections

Hi,
I have a problem with my SQL Developer that cannot query on objects with collections. I get the same error when trying to query these DB objects.
Error starting at line 1 in command:
select * from customers
Error report:
SQL Error: Fail to construct descriptor: Unable to resolve type "OE.CUST_ADDRESS_TYP"
However when I am using PL/SQL Developer I have no problem to access the objects.
I am using SQL Developer Version 2.1.1.64 with the letest jave SDK on windowns XP.
Please let mw know how to fix it.

Here is another possibility. It takes three or four smart playlists.<pre>Playlist 1: Limit to 200 songs selected by most often played.</pre><pre>Playlist 2: Limit to 30 songs selected by least often played.</pre><pre>Playlist 3: Match any
Playlist is Playlist 1
Playlist is Playlist 2
Limit to 100 songs selected by random</pre>The numbers can all be changes around, I have just put in some as an example.
You could further refine any of the playlists by adding other conditions. For example, you could duplicate and modify Playlist 3 so you have one for general music (no other conditions), one for rock, one for new age, etc.
One drawback of the above is that Playlist 1 will choose the x most listened to songs and Playlist 2 will choose the x least listened to songs. One way around this is to add a fourth playlist:
<pre>Playlist 4: Last Played is not in the Last 1 Days
Limit to 200 songs selected by Random</pre>And then add the condition "Playlist is Playlist 4" as a condition for both Playlist 1 and Playlist 2.
The Last Played condition is to force songs to drop off of Playlist 4 so they can be replaced with new songs. You can vary the number of days. Making it a larger number would make it so it selects songs you haven't heard in a while.
Set Live Updating for all playlists.
Yes, this is a kludge. Yes, I wish there were more options and boolean operators in the Playlist editor. OTOH, you would only have to set these playlists up once, except for maybe fine tuning the "Limit to x songs" lines. And you would sit back and listen to Playlist 3.

Development App reading backward on iPad

Hello,
I have created a Folio in Indesign CS6, made up of 8 different articles (ie 8 different Indesign files). I have added these articles to the Folio in the order that I wish them to appear. (I am using Viewer Version 26)
I then went through the "Create App" process with Adobe App Builder, however I have found the Demonstration version that I downloaded to my iPad for testing is reading completely backward. Funnily enough, the Chapter list on the iPad is in the correct order, but the pages themselves are completely back-to-front. Is there something I could have done wrong in the building process to cause this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Developing an Add-in for Adobe Reader to insert the PDF into Lotus Notes

Hi
We currently have a document management solution in MS Word & Excel, where by you can open/create a document click a button that is linked to a macro and it brings a Document Management screen up and allows you to save the file into a new Lotus Notes Document.
We are now trying to get the same functionality into Adobe Reader, whereby a user can open a PDF they have on their PC and then go to a menu item and it will perform similar function to our macro/VB that we have setup in MS Word & Excel.
Does anyone know of anyone who has developed such an idea or could point me in the right direction of where to start developing as I have never developed any add-in/plug-ins for Adobe Reader.
This needs to be done really in Visual Basic, but any help would be great

You start by downloading the Acrobat SDK.
In the SDK is information about developing a plugin for Reader, which will require you to obtain a license from Adobe. Submit the necessary paperwork to see if you are approved. It doesn’t make much sense to start development if you don’t get approval.
Once approved, you will want a copy of Adobe Acrobat for development as it’s easier than developing with Reader.
Plugins are developed in C/C++ and there are samples in the SDK.

Read keywords from file but not develop settings?

Is there any way to read IPTC Core metadata, but not develop settings, from a file? I'm still figuring out my Lightroom workflow and made some errors that I'd like to recover from. Here's the situation:
In Lightroom 2.x I selected images, gave them star ratings, and made initial Develop module adjustments. I did NOT write the metadata back to the files (my mistake). Later, my keywording assistant opened the files in another program (Breeze Browser) and added extensive keywords using a controlled vocabulary that works very well and very fast in Breeze. Now I have extensive caption and keyword data in the XMP sidecars, but develop settings in Lightroom's database. I need to merge them.
The slow and tedious workaround in Lightroom is to select the photo, copy the develop settings, read the metadata from the file, then paste the develop settings back in. It works, but is repetative and slow. There's not even a keyboard shortcut for reading metadata. The other tedious workaround is to export the keywords to a text file (using Breeze) and copy & paste them into Lightroom's keywords field. But that's even slower.
Is there a way to write only the develop settings to the files?
Any other suggestions on how to proceed? I have several hundred images that need to be fixed.
In the future, I know I need to write the metadata to the files after making any adjustments in Lightroom so the data travels with the files themselves and isn't just in Lightroom's database.

So, assuming that i would have
String content = "458,304,0,345,432";i could split this and put this in an array string using a code like
String[] arry = null;
array = content.split("\\.");I haven't tested the code yet, cause i'll go to bed soon, but will this split all at once and put it in the array or do i have to create a loop or something ?
And is it possible to put number one using split in the array[x][v] on the x location and the others at the [v] location ? (the first number of each five has to be added to [x] and the other 4 to [v] )

Print selected pages of a PDF file to printer as a batch job using VB6

I have the following:
1) 1,000 multi-paged PDF files (say 00000001.pdf, 00000002.pdf, ..., 00160000.pdf)
2) A list of pages for each document to print
(e.g. 00000001.pdf: 2,3,5,7
00000002.pdf: 3-8, 10
00001000.pdf: 5,6,7,10)
I want to perform a single batch job to print the specified pages of all 1000 PDF documents to default printer.
I am using VB6, Acrobat Reader 9 installed.
I am thinking of writing a function like that:
Private Function PrintPDF(byval sPDFFilePath as string, byval iPageNum() as integer) as boolean
and then write a looping routine to print the files one by one.
Seems that Acrobat SDK has such feature.
Please advise how can I do this?

I downloaded the Arcobat SDK and now learning to use it with its sample.
However, I got stuck when I run the program BasicIacVB.
I got the following error message:
Cannot create ActiveX component.
When running the line
gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
I run this program on my PC with VS2005 installed.
What extra step do I need to do to use the sdk?
Seems there's no installation package there...
Sorry about my stupid question, I am a total newbie in AcrobatSDK.
P.S. My ultimate goal is to develop the program in VB6 (not using VB2005),
as my client PCs does not (and cannot for some reason) install .net framework.

Multiple development repositories issues

We are going forward with multiple repositories for development. I would
greatly appreciate any input from individuals who have implemented such a
strategy or who have investigated it.
Development would occur simultaneously in several repositories with one
repository ultimately having all plans (projects) from all repositories.
Other repositories would only have the projects that they are responsible
for developing and read only copies of ones that they need as suppliers.
The following are concerns
* Keeping track of project versions and supplier plan dependencies
* Propagating changes in one repository to another.
* What is the definitive number of people in a repository for
development/production. I have heard 10-12 and as many as 25 before
performance degradation occurs.
The solutions we have settled on (in the interim) are:
* There will be no more than 10-12 developers per repository
* Each development team will get their own repository
* All project versions developed will be checked into a source code
control (SCC) program
* Anyone requiring a project as a supplier plan will pull them from
SCC into a slave workspace of their repository, integrate it into the
baseline and check it out (along with all supplier plans to that project
with correct version).
Does anyone else see the headache here?..... Bueller?
BTW our version is Forte 3G2 on HPUX with NT4 clients.

How to install developer suite on windows vista

trying to install the dveloper suite on windows vista, keep gettting error that the pagefile(swap file) size is 0 and need to fix this problem.

Have you followed the steps under "III. After the install completed" in this thread?

And note the fourth paragraph from the top. There is a BIG bug in Forms Builder 10g running on Vista. When you try to compile a program unit (procedure) that calls another one that has compiler errors, the Forms Builder crashes. So it can be pretty frustrating if you actually try do any forms development work.
