Device event from within a semantic event

Is there a way through which, in an event listener for a Java semantic event, we could get basic
properties informations on the raw physical event from the device, e.g. mouse, that had triggered
the semantic event?
I know Component#getMousePosition() is usable but it only gives current (x, y) coords of
the mouse. It seems we have nothing else.
TIA.

  • How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

    I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
    I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
    I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
    I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
    So, then, how can I do this?
    Thanks
    Ted
    NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
    NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.
            try {
                java.lang.ProcessBuilder pn = new java.lang.ProcessBuilder("array_function_test.pl");
                //pn.directory(new java.io.File("K:\\work"));
                java.lang.Process pr = pn.start();
                java.io.BufferedInputStream bis = (java.io.BufferedInputStream)pr.getInputStream();
                String tmp = new String("");
                byte b[] = new byte[1000];
                int i = 0;
                while (i != -1) {
                    bis.read(b);
                    tmp += new String(b);
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + tmp);
            } catch (java.io.IOException ex) {
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + ex.getMessage());
            }

    Hi Fonsi!
    One way to execute an external program is to use the System Exec.vi. You find it in the functions pallet under Communication.

  • WPF UI running in seperate runspace - able to set/get controls via synchronized hash table, but referencing the control via the hash table from within an event handler causes both runspaces to hang.

    I am trying to build a proof of concept where a WPF form is hosted in a seperate runspace and updates are handled from the primary shell/runspace. I have had some success thanks to a great article by Boe Prox, but I am having an issue I wanted to open up
    to see if anyone had a suggestion.
    My goals are as follows:
    1.) Set control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
    2.) Get control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
    3.) Respond to WPF form events in the UI runspace from the primary runspace (Kind of broken).
    I have the ability to read/write values to the form, but I am having difficulty with events. Specifically, I can fire and handle events, but the minute I try to reference the $SyncHash from within the event it appears to cause a blocking condition hanging both
    runspaces. As a result, I am unable to update the form based on an event being fired by a control.
    In the example below, the form is loaded and the following steps occur:
    1.) Update-Combobox is called and it populates the combobox with a list of service names and selects the first item.
    2.) update-textbox is called and sets the Text property of the textbox.
    3.) The Text value of the textbox is read by the function read-textbox and output using write-host.
    4.) An event handle is registered for the SelectionChanged event for the combobox to call the update-textbox function used earlier.
    5.) If you change the selection on the combobox, the shell and UI hangs as soon as $SyncHash is referenced. I suspect this is causing some sort of blocking condition from multiple threads trying to access the synchronized nature of the hash table, but I am
    unsure as to why / how to work around it. If you comment out the line "$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Dispatcher.Invoke("Send",[action]{$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Text = $Value})" within update-textbox the event handler will execute/complete.

    Thanks again for the responses. This may not be possible, but I thought I would throw it out there. I appreciate your help in looking into this.
    To clarify the "Respond to control events in the main runspace"... I'm would like to have an event generated by a form object in the UI runspace (ex: combo box selectionchanged event) trigger a delegate within the main runspace and have that delegate in
    the main runspace update the form in the UI runspace.
    ex:
    1.) User changes selection on combo box generating form event
    2.) Event calls delegate (which I have gotten to work)
    3.) Delegate does some basic processing (works)
    4.) Delegate attempts to update form in UI runspace (hangs)
    As to the delegates / which runspace they are running in. I see the $synchash variable if I run get-var within a delegate, but I do not see the $Form variable so I am assuming that they are in the main runspace. Do you agree with that assumption?

  • Unknown Device Event Type from a router

    Hi,
    I just included my first router within the reporting devices and decided to take a look at the raw events coming in to the MARS. To my surprise I see just two types of events :
    - Generic IOS syslog
    - Unknown Device Event Type
    This second one looks like SNMP because every message begins with "SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises." and seems to contain OIDs and data. Is this normal or am I having some kind of problem? The syslog messages seem to be interpreted correctly; in fact they generated a few incidents when there were some problems on one of the interfaces. I'm worried that the SNMP messages (traps?) are not being understood.
    Thanks for your help,
    Joe

    Yes, I realize that. Unfortunately I don't have access to the router and I'll have to ask what has been configured. I was wondering why MARS sees this data as raw events, if indeed they are SNMP traps. Does MARS listen on port 162 UDP?
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • Can I perform persistence activities from within a JPA lifecycle event

    I have a question about what is valid while inside JPA lifecycle events like @PrePersist or even Eclipselink lifecycles like postBuild. I would like to perform persist and delete operations from within these lifecycles, however they seem to get lost when the commit finally happens at the end of the transaction.
    Is this not valid...and if not how to I perform persistence operations from within these lifecycles. For example I may want to delete objects from a @PostDelete.
    Thanks.

    I don't see any reason why doing a persist() or remove() from instead a JPA PrePersist or PostRemove event would not work. What is your code for your event? Make sure you use the same EntityManager.
    For the EclipseLink events, most of the write events are raised during the commit, so it is too late to perform a JPA operation such as persist(). You can however use EclipseLink DatabaseQuery to insert or delete objects, but you need to be careful doing this. In general it may be better to put this logic in your application instead of events.

  • Raise event from within process chain

    Is there some way to easily raise an event from within a process chain?  The only way I know to do this is to run an ABAP program that raises the event.

    Hi Shashank,
    sorry for the delay: I didn't notice your question. Try this way.
    1 - define ABAP Report Z_EVENT_RAISER (see sample code below)
    2 - define a variant for this Report (Event Name mandatory)
    3 - Call ABAP Report Z_EVENT_RAISER from within your Proces Chain.
    This should work

  • Fire event from within another event ?

    It seems that an event fired from within another event does not
    actually execute its code until the firing event completes. The fired
    event's Time value in its Event Data Node indicates the time that it
    was told to execute, but using GetTickCount calls shows that its code
    does not execute until the firing event is finished. This happens
    whether Value Signaling is used to generate a Value Change event or if
    CreateUserEvent and GenerateUserEvent is used. Is this because events
    are placed in a queue ? This behavior is different from Delphi for
    example where the fired event executes right away when called from the
    firing event (before the firing event completes).
    I have an event that executes upon a button value change. I would
    like that same event's code to execute when another button is pressed,
    but also have other code in the second button's event execute after
    that first button's event's code completes. Is there another way to
    accomplish this ?

    I'm not that familiar with Delphi, but LV events are asynchronous.
    Window
    s OS has two ways of firing events, Send and Post. The LV events
    are always posted. The primary reason is that the LV events are handled
    by a node, not by a callback. The node you are calling is in the middle
    of a diagram, and reentering it not valid.

    The best way to reuse code is to use subVIs. Firing events, or rather
    sending events is pretty close in other events to making a function call
    dispatched to anyone interested in the event. The event just hides who
    you are calling and makes you put your parameters in a funny format
    stuffed inside the event. IMO it also makes the code very hard to read
    since you don't know what calls what.
    Instead, just put the code into a sub
    VI and call it whenever you need
    to, from the event structure in one or more locations, and from other
    loops and diagrams.

  • Cannot access Dynamics XRM from within Event Receiver

    Hello everyone
    I'm struggling with an issue here and I would like to hear some advice from you. The problem is the following:
    I need to do something on Dynamics CRM whenever a document is uploaded to a specific location in SharePoint. I'm using an Event receiver for this purpose and connecting to CRM via the IOrganizationService, like this:
    IOrganizationService service = new OrganizationServiceProxy(serviceUri, null, credentials, null); //service uri is https//serviceUri is something like "https://crmserver/organization/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc"
    But for some reason I'm unable to execute that line successfully (looks like it times out) from within the Event receiver. However, the same exact piece of code works perfectly fine if executed from a separate console application (i.e., outside the IIS application
    pool) running on the same SharePoint server...I'm confused, do I need to configure anything else on the SharePoint application pool so it let's me access the XRM service?
    More info:
    - It's not credentials issue, even provinding hardcoded it doesn't work
    - Both SharePoint 2013 and Dynamics CRM 2013 are on premises.
    - Integration between SharePoint and Dynamics CRM is done through the CRM List Component, over https, and it's working fine.This is not really important for this but it's just to tell that both servers can comunicate over https.
    I would really like to get some advice on this. Thank you in advance.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, there is an issue when trying to access Dynamic CRM in an Event Receiver.
    As you said, the same code works in a Console Application, it means the code should be OK. To narrow down the issue, I suggest you do as follows:
    1. Please debug this Event Receiver in Visual Studio to see if the Event Receiver is working, what’s more, it will give you more information about how the code works
    or if there is any exception thrown during debugging;
    2. Is it a Sandboxed solution? Sometimes
    the limitation of a Sandboxed solution would interrupt the code execution, you can try to change it to “Farm” solution and make another test;
    3. If the above steps not work for you, please trace the requests using Fiddler when the Event Receiver running, more details there would help you easier to find out
    the root cause of this issue.
    Thanks

  • Calling User Preference event from within portlet

    Not sure if anybody else has looked at this but we are in the process of rolling out a new G6 Portal and on a number of portlets want to take advantage of the ability to turn off the portlet header. However in doing so you loose access to the inbuilt support for providing access to the User Preference, if one has been defined as part of the portlet definition. This is relevant on a number of portelts that we want to migrate to the new G6 portal.
    So rather than try and re-invent this from scratch using a different 'link' in the portlet itself we were wondering if you can 'call' the inbuilt user preference functionality from within the portlet code. i.e. When a user clicks on the link within the portlet it performs exactly the same action and interaction within the portal as if they clicked on the User Preference icon in the portlet header.
    We have had a look around to see if this is possible but not come up with anything yet so thought we would seek comments from this forum.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Ross Ellard
    Devonport Management Ltd

    Hey Ross,
    I just realized I have to do the same thing on a very limited scale (3-5 portlets).
    SO I just wrote a little bit of (shoddy) code to show community preferences based on group membership.
    It works for me, but I get the feeling your looking for something like communityactionsdata geared toward portlets, which unfortunately I dont think exists. If you put it in as an enhancement request then support will contact you to discuss your options.
    Here is the code that I'm using for now:
    <pt:standard.choose>
    <pt:standard.when pt:test="stringToACLGroup('group=1,755,760;').isMember($currentuser)">
    <immg border="0" src="htttp://localhost/imageserver/plumtree/portal/public/img/action_portlet_edit.gif">
    </pt:standard.when>
    </pt:standard.choose>
    The only problem is that the preferences submit button refreshes the popup to the portal. So I might need to tweak that a hair so it just closes the popup.

  • Unknown Device Event Type Adobe?

    Starting yesterday I have about 60 notifications that state "Unknown Device Event Type" and the packet was dropped inline. The majority of the Raw message starts out with....P...L...E.... and has ...Adobe..d...in the message body. Maybe Adobe sent out an update that is causing this? Different Source, Destinations and Ports in the notifications. No virus or spyware on the network that I can find.

    They're apparently IPS alarms? Take a look at the raw message and it should tell you the signature ID. Then look that up on mySDN.

  • Calling a concurrent request from within the trigger

    Calling a concurrent request from within the trigger.
    Does it requre apps initilization.
    Thanks,
    Lavan

    Hi,
    Whether apps initialization needed or not will depend on followings
    1. Trigger is written on which table seeded or custom. In case of seeded tables, there is no need for apps initialization (although oracle does not recommend writing trigger on seeded tables).
    2. Triggering Table Update/Insert/Delete event processing is done from apps front end or Backend. In case of front end apps initialization is not required.

  • How can I check the progress of a Loader from within a movie clip?

    Hi All,
    I have a Loader called profileContentLoader that I create in AS3 on the main timeline, I would like to check the bytesLoaded of profileContentLoader from within a movieclip thats in another movieclip....
    I tried:
    MovieClip(root).profileContentLoader.bytesLoaded
    but that doesn't work....
    Thanks for any help

    The Loader class uses a LoaderInfo class object to do its loading event informational bidding.  Look into the contentLoaderInfo property of the Loader class and then followup looking at the LoaderInfo class to see what you can make use of from it.

  • How to refer to enclosing instance from within the member class?

    Hi
    How to refer to the enclosing instance from within the member class?
    I have the following code :

    public class MyDialog extends Dialog
         public MyDialog(Frame fr,boolean modal)
              super(fr,modal);

         class MyWindowAdapter extends WindowAdapter
              public void windowClosing(WindowEvent evt)
                   //MyDialog.close(); // is this right?
    In the above code, how can I call the "close()" method of the "Dialog" class (which is the enclosing class) from the inner class?
    Thanks in advance.
    Senthil.

    Hi Senthil,
    You can directly call the outer class method. Otherwise use the following way MyDialog.this.close(); (But there is no close() method in Dialog!!)
    If this is not you expected, give me more details about problem.

  • [Forum FAQ]How to troubleshoot common issue when configuring user device affinity from usage data

    Symptom:
    Some clients might fail to automatically configure user device affinity from usage data if you have manually configured user device affinity before.
    When you check the UserAffinity.log, you can find the similar error messages as below:
    User 'XXXXX\XXXXX' has xxxxx usage minutes UserAffinity
    Setting auto affinity for user 'XXXXX\XXXXX'. UserAffinity
    Found same state message existing. (was sent before) Skip sending same state message for user 'XXXXX\XXXXX'.. UserAffinity
    Figure 1. Error Message in UserAffinity.log
    Cause:
    As the log said, there is a user affinity state message existing in WMI which prevents client from sending new user affinity state message.
    Resolution:
    We can delete the user affinity state message in WMI to force the client to resend the user affinity state message.
    We can follow the steps below:
      1. Run Windows Management Instrumentation Tester (“Wbemtest”).
      2. In Windows Management Instrumentation Tester dialog box, click “Connect”.(Figure 2)
    Figure 2.
      3. Type “root\ccm\statemsg” under the Namespace table and then click “Connect”.(Figure 3)
    Figure 3.
      4. Click “Enum Classes”. (Figure 4)
    Figure 4.
      5. Choose “Recursive”
    in Superclass Info dialog box.(Figure 5)
    Figure 5.
      6. Double-click “CCM_StateMsg” in Query Result dialog box.(Figure 6)
    Figure 6.
      7. Click “Instances”
    in Object editor for CCM_StateMsg dialog box. (Figure 7)
    Figure 7.
      8. Choose the messages that contain "domain/user_Auto" and click “Delete” in the Query Result dialog box.(Figure 8)
    Figure 8.
    After you delete user affinity state message in WMI, the user affinity state message for the user will be resent. After a period time, we can check the UserAffinity.log to
    see if the user affinity state message has been successfully sent. The related information would be similar as below:
    Successfully sent user affinity state message for user 'xxxxx\xxxxx'.
    Successfully created pending user affinity for user 'xxxxx\xxxxx' into WMI.

    I'm not sure whether this is the appropriate place to add this but - a (possible) cause that I have seen which is not mentioned above is a request for an AAAA record (IPv6 address)
    being responded to with an A record (IPv4 address).
    DNS debug logging (Windows 2008 R2 SP1) captured requests to
    192.225.156.200 and the corresponding responses. In each case the response was followed in the debug log by the event “The DNS server encountered an invalid domain name
    in a packet from 192.225.156.200. The packet will be rejected. The event data contains the DNS packet.”
    The domain name in the response was the same as that in the query, and looks OK.
    The logged query shows an AAAA record (IPv6 address) request and the logged response returned an A record (IPv4 address).
    http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc4074.txt “Common
    Misbehavior Against DNS Queries for IPv6 Addresses” says, under “Expected Behavior”:
       Suppose that an authoritative server has an A RR but has no AAAA RR
       for a host name.  Then, the server should return a response to a
       query for an AAAA RR of the name with the response code (RCODE) being
       0 (indicating no error) and with an empty answer section (see
       Sections 4.3.2 and 6.2.4 of [1]).  Such a response indicates that
       there is at least one RR of a different type than AAAA for the
       queried name, and the stub resolver can then look for A RRs.
