Device Recycling Program is a nightmare!!!!!

On top of everything I've had to do to switch to Verizon being a nightmare, now the last item, getting (5) $200 gift cards for trading in 5 old iphone 4 & 4's.  One iphone 4 will only get $36 because it was apparently not unlocked, which is impossible because we did them all the same way at the same time.  Then a iphone 4s will only get $36 because of an apparent "cracked screen" which unfortunately was not there before it was shipped, so who is at fault here???  Verizon when will you wake up and see this program is not working and needs to be done onsite at the stores NOT though the mail.  Seriously, I'm not dumb to send a cracked screen and think I would get $200 but I shipped it in your required packaging so I guess I have to eat the other $164 just because it got thrown around in the mail.  RIDICULOUS!!!!! I WILL NEVER TELL ANYONE TO SWITCH TO VERIZON!!!!

Hi, just to update my previous post, VZW Trade-In Support emailed me to say that they are making an exception to the rule (I'm not sure why since I am in the right) about reduced trade in value for locked phones. I'm not going to bother arguing that it was in fact unlocked since they are giving me the difference to make it the full $200 program value.
Here is the email (hope it helps you):
Dear Valued Customer,
Recently you participated in the Verizon Device Recycling Program and the value you received for your Apple device was lower than the original appraised value because you failed to turn off the “Find My iPhone” (or “Find my iPad”) feature before sending the device to us, as indicated in the trade-in instructions. Find My iPhone can help locate your device if lost, but also blocks activation by a new owner.  Because of this Verizon (or any other trade-in program) cannot offer full value for devices with Find My iPhone enabled.
Nonetheless, as a courtesy we have elected to waive the deduction in this instance and issue you a supplemental credit in the amount of $164. You will receive this payment in the form of an additional electronic gift card within two days.
Submission ID: xxxxxxxxxx.
To disable “Find My iPhone” in the future, you can sign into your Apple iCloud account athttp://www.iCloud.com to see active devices and turn off the feature.
We thank you for your business and hope you enjoy the additional gift card value.
Regards,
Verizon Device Recycling Team

I have sent my iphone4 two weeks ago, but the status still showes 'not received'.
I think 2 weeks are enough time for delivery, so i cannot know what happened.
I hope they delayed the update of status, and i would like to ask you how long it was taken to see status update after you send your phone?
Is it normal to delay the update of status?

Thank you for reaching out to us, bgpark. I apologize for the delay in receiving an update on the status of your device. It is possible that if your phone has been received by the trade-in team, your phone may still be getting processed due to the number of devices received. Please give them a bit more. The trade-in page should be updated soon with the details of your trade in.

All - Wanted to follow up on my original post.  After getting in touch with  Verizon, and talking to a human (had to call the Business line - as there is no way to get thru on the Consumer line).  The agent on the other end was patient and took notes on my complaint.  She filed a "dispute" on my behalf - meaning that within 10 days I would receive a response, and that they would "recheck" my phone.   Today I DID receive a response from verizon that they were issuing me an additional $164 gift card for my iPhone 5.   This, along with the earlier $36 gift card,  adds up to the $200 originally communicated at the time I sent the phone in.  I am satisfied at this point - but a little upset that I had to go thru all of the hassle to get them to deliver on their original commitment.  At least they listened and responded - the sign of a company that cares.

  • Verizon Device recycle program "**"

My Iphone 5 was in pristine condition when I sent it in for trade 2 weeks ago. I always took the best care of it and always had a case and screen cover on it. It always powered up and worked perfect, thus I was expecting the full amount of $200 returned to me.
The phone had the Locate my iphone disabled and the sim card removed as required.
I get notice yesterday that I only received $36 because they said it won't power up.  This not true, it powered up and worked fine when I sent it to Verion You can check my billing, it shows calls and texts on the day I returned it.  I am very disappointed; I am a loyal 30-year customer with Verizon and have never had any problems before. If I had thought my phone was only worth $36 I would have never sent it in and not bought the new phone.
If this is not resolved to my satisfaction, I will return my new IPhone 6 plus and cancel my contract with Verizon and if nothing is still done, I will take this to small claims court. I will not allow bog corporations to scam others like I was scammed.    Thank you !  monty

This is the problem, I submitted my phone on Sept 12 Submission # (removed) After sending three emails to the trade in team I still have not received a response. So now I have sent in a perfectly good iphone 4, status showed paid, but no virtual gift card.  Horrible customer service. Sad, I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 10 years.

  • Verizon Device Recycling Program--SCAM! DO NOT USE!

My flawless 32 GB iPhone 4S was appraised at $210.  I dutifully followed the instructions--deleted all the data, and turned "Find my iPhone" OFF.  I remember thinking as I was doing it, "I should video myself doing this as proof" because I knew how important it was for the trade-in value, but thought better of it because I had no prior poor experiences with Verizon and believed them to be a trustworthy company.  BOY WAS I WRONG.  After weeks of waiting, my iPhone got appraised at $17!  The stated reason? "Find my iPhone enabled".  I immediately started calling the worthless customer service line and have since requested several "escalations".  I received one email back from the "support" team, with the purpose supplying me with a photo of my phone's screen--but guess what?  No photo attached to the email.  I called customer service back again and they were able to read my the IMEI number from the photo that I never received--It didn't match my phones (Thank God I saved the original box!).  I am absolutely livid.  I either want my phone back (not going to happen customer service says!) or I want the full $210 credit.  This is such nonsense, someone in this magical "support" team should be able to actually provide customer service and speak to me.  Otherwise Verizon has lost a longtime customer and the BBB will receive another complaint (and from what I understand, there have been hundreds already).

We had a similar problem with our iPhone4. They both worked perfectly and were in excellent condition. We used them right up until we got our iphone 6. They were appraised at $200 each. I followed the instructions to the letter. Remembering to turn off find my phone and resetting the phone to factory settings to wipe any passwords. I even called Verizon before I mailed them to make sure they were deactivated. I was told that they are deactivated as soon as we turned on our new iphones.
However we got our gift card e-mailed to us for $36! I called to ask why and was told that our phones weren't deactivated. I explained that I made sure they were and I remember turning off find my phone on both phones. They said they would get someone from the factory to call me. No call. Still waiting! I wonder if find my phone was turned back on when we activated our new phones. I don't know but I'm sure I followed all the instructions before mailing the phones and Verizon hasn't given me a good explanation for why we only got $36 for each phone rather than $200 as expected. If I'd known this I could have sold them on ebay for alot more.
The only reason we continued to stay with Verizon was because of this deal. I was expecting $200 for each iphone that I sent. I'm now thinking of switching to Sprint as I heard they are buying new customers out of existing contracts.  So unless Verizon pays the difference or gives us our old phones back I think we will be leaving.

  • Device Recycling

Very disappointed in Verizon's recycling program. Returned an iPhone that was 2 years old. The site said you could get $200 back depending on condition.  However, I did not expect to get back only $32!! If that was going to be the case I should have kept the phone and sold it myself! It's like false advertising!

We thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the trade in value that you received, cluclas1952.
I can understand how you were expecting an amount, but instead received a different amount. For questions regarding the amount, please contact 877-247-3846.

  • Apple recycling program

does that program they offer apply to the ipod touch?
because i have an old ipod mini lying around thought id put it towards that and get a %10 discount, does any one know if it matters if the ipod is broken?

    hey!
The Apple Recycling Program was not iPod specific. It was merely Apple encouraging people to not throw away an Electrical device which contained batteries,LCD screens and other possible pollutants which are environmentally unfriendly if disposed of incorrectly.
The scheme was still running before the Touch so I can't see why they would not give you the 10% discount.
    Cheers,

  • Apple Reuse and Recycling Program

I'm not sure where this should live. Its not a question more of a warning.
I recently took advantage of the Apple Reuse and Recycle Program in the UK to recycle three iPhones and obtain some vouchers in return. The Apple Partner for this service in the UK is 'BrightStar'. I used the on-line website and within days the return packs from BrightStar arrived. Enclosed was a flatpack box and a returns label. I packaged up the iPhones as instructed by BrightStar's own documentation, affixed the postage label and took the three packets to the Post Office, to be sure I obtained a 'Certificate of Posting' from the clerk.
Within a couple of days, emails started to arrive saying that the iPhones had been received by BrightStar, however only for two and not three. A day passed and more emails arrived with the Money off Vouchers for the two iPhones but not the third. I left it a day and contacted them via email and received the reply to say that they had not received the third iPhone. Ok.. its got lost.
So I then ask BrightStar, what now happens? Did they have insurance to cover the loss in the postage that they had arranged? No.. they don't pay for any kind of insurance in the postage that they themselves arrange. BrightStar then informed me that it is up to the customer to take out extra insurance or arrange 'Special Delivery' when they take the packages to the Post Office. However, this is not stated in the packaging instructions. So foolishly I have assumed that their pre-paid postage included insurance for the items.
So no iPhone, no voucher . I know its not Apples fault but what really annoys me is the attitude of BrightStar, their Recycling Partner, basically washing their hands of the whole affair, even though they had arranged all of the postage and packaging. Apple really do need to have a word with these people, I expect Apples Partners to be of the same standard as the Apple Organisation.
So people be warned. If you use BrightStar's service make sure you insure your package when you take your pre-paid packet to the Post Office, otherwise if it gets lost, you like me will be out of pocket.
I don't know who to take this up with within Apple, I can find any kind of contact for this kind of issue.

You might try contacting the Customer Support folks and see if they can give you a number for customer relations: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201232
In the US, the user has the option of taking the devices to an Apple store where the transaction is handled by the Apple staff, sounds like a significantly better option.  But, thanks for the warning about buyer-beware - the need to protect yourself anytime a valuable device is sent through the post or any shipping organization.

  • Trade in / Recycling program return policy?

I am wondering if I send in my phone to the trade in/recycling program and it is denied........will it be sent back to me or will Verizon keep it and not pay me?
The website says that devices will not be sent back, but when I was chatting with a Verizon representative she said it would be sent back.   Which is it?

You don't get the phone back.  And they add what ever the allowance for the early upgrade on your account.  Figure $200-300 bill if your phone fails inspection.
IF it is damaged in shipping, you have to prove it, or you get stuck with the bill.
i Say, keep the phone or ebay it.

  • Recycling program service

the customer service person at the recycling program would not let me talk to her manager?   Hung up on me.  why?

Possibly they are getting hammered by unhappy customers who have sent in their devices having followed all the recommendations, and have been shortchanged on the funds received, our perhaps have never received a mailer, or something related to their return not showing in the system.
Likely the popularity of the program was underestimated, and they are under resourced to handle the traffic.
You might want to try calling in again to speak with someone else, or try a regular CSR.... But if that isn't working for you...  depending on your issue, worse case, you might have to file a complaint with the BBB.

  • Will apple credit to my account gift card for recycling program

will apple credit to my account gift card for recycling program

If you mean the program Apple runs with partner companies to send in some computers and iOS devices, you will get an Apple Store gift card for the value. I don't know what you mean by "credit to your account", but this program has nothing to do with the iTunes Store. Apple explains the program, at least as it's constitued in the US, here:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/
If that doesn't answer your question, please post back and clarify.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

I went to Verizon Executive Customer Service you can find your area Customer Service head here:aboutus.verizonwireless.com/leadership/executive/
You'll get a call from one of their reps in a couple of days.   It'll be an Atlanta GA number.  They'll listen to your complaint and they are now aware that there are many people that have been affected just like you.  They are supposedly looking into this 3rd Party company they hired to handle the device recycling to see what the problem is...?
They gave me $75 credit statement as a "good faith" however I'm still not satisfied.  I was quoted $350 for an excellent phone. I've totaled $138 out of the $350 I was quoted.  I feel completely robbed.  My phone would've sold on eBay in excellent condition for $400.  I did this program in '12 and it worked fine, no problems.  I'll never do it again.
I also complained to my Attorney General Office as well as the BBB.  I would recommend all avenues.  Many, many people have been screwed over.  Good luck!

  • Don't Want To Use Apple Config, Device Enroll Program

I have been reading a lot on how to implement profiles onto devices like the iPhone, this functionality is what I am looking for, mainly with iPhone for some businesses and schools I work with. I have red that with the new technology you don't have to us Apple Configurator, and I have red about the Device Enroll Program... for my purposes I don't want to use any Apple method (nor would the situation I have even qualify for the Device Enroll Program) I really would like to deploy custom configuration profiles, with restrictions specified by my customers.
I have been scanning the developer guides and and slowly grasping what I need to do...it sounds like I don't need to use Apple methods if I don't want CORRECT???  If I can implement custom profiles and in some cases it might just be three iPhones... I was hoping to find the proper guidance for implementing those custom profiles, thru the webpage method  or e-mail message is more suitable for my needs.
I found the Apple play by play on how to do that, but sometimes for myself finding another perspective helps me learn... Any places anyone has found that can give that play by play on how to deliver those custom profiles  thru web page or e-mail?
I have looked at the Over the Air Profile Delivery and Configuration Developer Pages... I'm just looking for that alternate information source to help me out. Appreciate all the help

Using Get Info to change all documents to open with Pages 4.3 doesn't work. The Mac OS will always default to the newest installed version & has for as long as I can remember. It will work on individual files, but that could be a lot of files to reset.
This is what worked for me. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "Applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder & renamed the applications Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages & Numbers running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3 or Numbers 2.3. This should also keep the Mac App Store from nagging you to update.
Since the last update I've used the solution Peter Breis posted (4th post in that thread) in iWork Tips 'n' Tricks with a little "tweak."
Making Numbers '09 the default whilst keeping Pages 5
    1. Move any new iWork apps in another clearly labelled folder (I created a new folder in Applications & named it iWork 13)
    2. Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy > drag the above folder into the list
    2) Move the new iWork folder into the trash (temporarily)
    3) Select any Numbers file in Finder > Menu > Info (cmd+i) > Open with: > Pages '09 > Change all
    4) Re the new iWork folder from the trash (right-click > Put back)
Pages 5 should no longer appear as a default App, and you won't have to keep a copy in a separate drive or dmg.
IMPORTANT: Make a note of where and how Pages was installed for the next App Store update and temporarily move it back there before putting it away again in the folder concealed from Spotlight.

  • Apple's iPod recycling program apply to iPhone

My 4th generation iPod finally died on me and I'm thinking of using this as my excuse to replace it with an iPhone. I'm wondering if the iPod recycling program (http://www.apple.com/environment/recycling/), w/ it's 10% rebate on the purchase of a new iPod, might apply to an iPhone purchase...?

The words you quoted in your intial post
"Bring your old iPod to an Apple Retail Store and receive a 10 percent discount on the purchase of a new iPod.* "
sat it all. Turn in an old iPod (except Shuffle) and get a discount on a new iPod.
