Device Recycling

Very disappointed in Verizon's recycling program. Returned an iPhone that was 2 years old. The site said you could get $200 back depending on condition.  However, I did not expect to get back only $32!! If that was going to be the case I should have kept the phone and sold it myself! It's like false advertising!

We thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the trade in value that you received, cluclas1952.
I can understand how you were expecting an amount, but instead received a different amount. For questions regarding the amount, please contact 877-247-3846.
This is the number to the Device Recycling Program.

  • Device Recycling Program is a nightmare!!!!!

On top of everything I've had to do to switch to Verizon being a nightmare, now the last item, getting (5) $200 gift cards for trading in 5 old iphone 4 & 4's.  One iphone 4 will only get $36 because it was apparently not unlocked, which is impossible because we did them all the same way at the same time.  Then a iphone 4s will only get $36 because of an apparent "cracked screen" which unfortunately was not there before it was shipped, so who is at fault here???  Verizon when will you wake up and see this program is not working and needs to be done onsite at the stores NOT though the mail.  Seriously, I'm not dumb to send a cracked screen and think I would get $200 but I shipped it in your required packaging so I guess I have to eat the other $164 just because it got thrown around in the mail.  RIDICULOUS!!!!! I WILL NEVER TELL ANYONE TO SWITCH TO VERIZON!!!!

Hi, just to update my previous post, VZW Trade-In Support emailed me to say that they are making an exception to the rule (I'm not sure why since I am in the right) about reduced trade in value for locked phones. I'm not going to bother arguing that it was in fact unlocked since they are giving me the difference to make it the full $200 program value.
Here is the email (hope it helps you):
    Dear Valued Customer,
Recently you participated in the Verizon Device Recycling Program and the value you received for your Apple device was lower than the original appraised value because you failed to turn off the “Find My iPhone” (or “Find my iPad”) feature before sending the device to us, as indicated in the trade-in instructions. Find My iPhone can help locate your device if lost, but also blocks activation by a new owner.  Because of this Verizon (or any other trade-in program) cannot offer full value for devices with Find My iPhone enabled.
Nonetheless, as a courtesy we have elected to waive the deduction in this instance and issue you a supplemental credit in the amount of $164. You will receive this payment in the form of an additional electronic gift card within two days.
    Submission ID: xxxxxxxxxx.
To disable “Find My iPhone” in the future, you can sign into your Apple iCloud account athttp://www.iCloud.com to see active devices and turn off the feature.
We thank you for your business and hope you enjoy the additional gift card value.
    Regards,
    Verizon Device Recycling Team

  • Lucid 3 Promo code for old device recycling

I got a Lucid 3 about a month or so back.  There was some promo code for $50 you'd get within like 5 days that you could use for recycling an older phone.  Anyone who got a Lucid 3 recently get that code?

Tersanyus1 We're glad to see that you have the new Lucid 3. The trade in promo was for purchases made between 4/17 and 6/30 who also had basic devices. Was your previous phone a basic device that was in working condition?

  • Verizon Device Recycling Program

I have sent my iphone4 two weeks ago, but the status still showes 'not received'.
I think 2 weeks are enough time for delivery, so i cannot know what happened.
I hope they delayed the update of status, and i would like to ask you how long it was taken to see status update after you send your phone?
Is it normal to delay the update of status?

Thank you for reaching out to us, bgpark. I apologize for the delay in receiving an update on the status of your device. It is possible that if your phone has been received by the trade-in team, your phone may still be getting processed due to the number of devices received. Please give them a bit more. The trade-in page should be updated soon with the details of your trade in.

All - Wanted to follow up on my original post.  After getting in touch with  Verizon, and talking to a human (had to call the Business line - as there is no way to get thru on the Consumer line).  The agent on the other end was patient and took notes on my complaint.  She filed a "dispute" on my behalf - meaning that within 10 days I would receive a response, and that they would "recheck" my phone.   Today I DID receive a response from verizon that they were issuing me an additional $164 gift card for my iPhone 5.   This, along with the earlier $36 gift card,  adds up to the $200 originally communicated at the time I sent the phone in.  I am satisfied at this point - but a little upset that I had to go thru all of the hassle to get them to deliver on their original commitment.  At least they listened and responded - the sign of a company that cares.

  • Verizon Device recycle program "**"

My Iphone 5 was in pristine condition when I sent it in for trade 2 weeks ago. I always took the best care of it and always had a case and screen cover on it. It always powered up and worked perfect, thus I was expecting the full amount of $200 returned to me.
The phone had the Locate my iphone disabled and the sim card removed as required.
I get notice yesterday that I only received $36 because they said it won't power up.  This not true, it powered up and worked fine when I sent it to Verion You can check my billing, it shows calls and texts on the day I returned it.  I am very disappointed; I am a loyal 30-year customer with Verizon and have never had any problems before. If I had thought my phone was only worth $36 I would have never sent it in and not bought the new phone.
If this is not resolved to my satisfaction, I will return my new IPhone 6 plus and cancel my contract with Verizon and if nothing is still done, I will take this to small claims court. I will not allow bog corporations to scam others like I was scammed.    Thank you !  monty

This is the problem, I submitted my phone on Sept 12 Submission # (removed) After sending three emails to the trade in team I still have not received a response. So now I have sent in a perfectly good iphone 4, status showed paid, but no virtual gift card.  Horrible customer service. Sad, I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 10 years.

  • Verizon Device Recycling Program--SCAM! DO NOT USE!

My flawless 32 GB iPhone 4S was appraised at $210.  I dutifully followed the instructions--deleted all the data, and turned "Find my iPhone" OFF.  I remember thinking as I was doing it, "I should video myself doing this as proof" because I knew how important it was for the trade-in value, but thought better of it because I had no prior poor experiences with Verizon and believed them to be a trustworthy company.  BOY WAS I WRONG.  After weeks of waiting, my iPhone got appraised at $17!  The stated reason? "Find my iPhone enabled".  I immediately started calling the worthless customer service line and have since requested several "escalations".  I received one email back from the "support" team, with the purpose supplying me with a photo of my phone's screen--but guess what?  No photo attached to the email.  I called customer service back again and they were able to read my the IMEI number from the photo that I never received--It didn't match my phones (Thank God I saved the original box!).  I am absolutely livid.  I either want my phone back (not going to happen customer service says!) or I want the full $210 credit.  This is such nonsense, someone in this magical "support" team should be able to actually provide customer service and speak to me.  Otherwise Verizon has lost a longtime customer and the BBB will receive another complaint (and from what I understand, there have been hundreds already).

We had a similar problem with our iPhone4. They both worked perfectly and were in excellent condition. We used them right up until we got our iphone 6. They were appraised at $200 each. I followed the instructions to the letter. Remembering to turn off find my phone and resetting the phone to factory settings to wipe any passwords. I even called Verizon before I mailed them to make sure they were deactivated. I was told that they are deactivated as soon as we turned on our new iphones.
However we got our gift card e-mailed to us for $36! I called to ask why and was told that our phones weren't deactivated. I explained that I made sure they were and I remember turning off find my phone on both phones. They said they would get someone from the factory to call me. No call. Still waiting! I wonder if find my phone was turned back on when we activated our new phones. I don't know but I'm sure I followed all the instructions before mailing the phones and Verizon hasn't given me a good explanation for why we only got $36 for each phone rather than $200 as expected. If I'd known this I could have sold them on ebay for alot more.
The only reason we continued to stay with Verizon was because of this deal. I was expecting $200 for each iphone that I sent. I'm now thinking of switching to Sprint as I heard they are buying new customers out of existing contracts.  So unless Verizon pays the difference or gives us our old phones back I think we will be leaving.

  • Avoid online device trade in, GO TO THE STORE.

This has been posted about numerous times already but I feel the need to add more information to what seems to be happening with these device trade in issues.  specifically, the claim that the power supply has an error and the phone wont power on.
I had an iphone 4s in pristine condition, my wife used it and kept very good care of it.  I was expecting to get the offered $200 for the phone when I created the application online, so I wiped it (after itunes also decided it needed to install IOS7 first), charged it, and sent it out in the envelope they issued me.
a couple of weeks went by with no status, and then finally my submission info changed to indicate that it was being evaluated.  the next day the submission status was changed to the infamous "Phone does not power on - Power Supply Error" message, and the reduced value offered was to be $26.00.  I called the trade-in support line and asked for details regarding my submission and what could have caused this error, they said their computers were down and that I should call again so we could get this resolved.  no biggie, that happens.
I called again the next day, and was told that my submission ticket was "locked" meaning it was currently being updated.  the operator was very friendly and actually told me that they had a large volume of calls and complaints regarding this specific problem, and that it was an issue with the way apple phones are modified when updated to the new OS.  I am assuming this means that the "find my iphone" setting is turned back on or the like, but she did not know specifics.  The FAQ indicates that this error can be attributed to the "find my iphone" service, so I felt comfortable that after my phone was reevaluated, the value of the trade-in would be corrected.  as a side note, the "find my iphone" service was disabled on this phone, at least under IOS6, so i'm not sure if it was reenabled by IOS7 or not, I literally waited for itunes to update the phone so I could wipe it.  the phone powered up fine and asked to create a user, so it was definitely in working order after the new OS when I shipped it.
The $26.00 trade in value was removed from my submission status and for a couple of days remained blank.  then, suddenly it was back, but this time it was $36.00.  Same error message, same wording, no real justification for the bump up in value.  I called the support line again and was told that a support technician would have to give me more details, so my information was taken for them to give me a call back sometime that week.  that was over 2 weeks ago.  no calls, however, I didnt really expect one.
I called the trade-in support line yet again and asked if there was any way they could gain access to my submission ticket information.  surely, when the technicians analyze and appraise the phone, they log more information that the one-liner on my submission update about a generic power supply failure.  what were the dates of their analysis of the device?  does the phone show any signs of booting?  is there any physical damage to the phone?  is it an OS lockout?  most specifically, what is the justification for the $10.00 bump in value? The operator was friendly and informed me that they do not have access to this sort of information and that a technician would have to call me back.  I asked if the technicians have some separate ticket tracking system than the operators, and if so why?  why can't the operators view the full history of the submission in detail?  The operator told me that when the technicians call me back they are going to tell me the same thing, and that there isnt any more information; simply that they can describe this general error more specifically.  This really bothered me.  if there is no information tracking of the device beyond tossing the phone into a bucket and moving on, then there is a serious flaw with the trade-in program which is harmful to the consumer.
no justification information for the minor increase in value, no specifics regarding the nature of the error.  nothing preventing this bucket of phones from being hard-reset and fixed, to be sold again at full price.  the phone cannot be returned to me (to be honest, I'm doubting they could find it again given the shoddy nature of their tracking system), all I want to know truly is what happened to so severely reduce the value of this phone?
the communications with the help-line are one way disguised as two way, or there are only one or two technicians, since I have had my information taken 3 times and not received a call at all from anyone in over 2 weeks.  the operator indicated that there is no way to contact or email a technician directly, which is understandable, but then the operator needs to have more information given to them if it exists.  VERIZON WE NEED YOUR HELP.  I am not the only one with this issue and this looks very bad from the outside.  please tell me there is a reasonable explanation for these issues.
who can we contact now?  I feel as though there is no way to escalate this.
sorry about the rant.  thank you.

  • Can old devices be traded in through the store or can this only be done online?

I'm not eligible for an upgrade until mid-June.  I was just browsing and saw the advertisement for turning in an old device for a VZW gift card.  Can this be done in the store too?  Or is this only available online?  I have an old phone that no one's using that was appraised for a decent amount that I'd like to turn in.  I'm going to be near the store tomorrow so figured I'd bring it to trade in if I could.  Thank you very much for your replies and assistance.

There are two methods customers can use to recycle a used device:
    In a VZW store, or
using the Device Recycling Program website.
    i hope this helps

I went to Verizon Executive Customer Service you can find your area Customer Service head here:aboutus.verizonwireless.com/leadership/executive/
You'll get a call from one of their reps in a couple of days.   It'll be an Atlanta GA number.  They'll listen to your complaint and they are now aware that there are many people that have been affected just like you.  They are supposedly looking into this 3rd Party company they hired to handle the device recycling to see what the problem is...?
They gave me $75 credit statement as a "good faith" however I'm still not satisfied.  I was quoted $350 for an excellent phone. I've totaled $138 out of the $350 I was quoted.  I feel completely robbed.  My phone would've sold on eBay in excellent condition for $400.  I did this program in '12 and it worked fine, no problems.  I'll never do it again.
I also complained to my Attorney General Office as well as the BBB.  I would recommend all avenues.  Many, many people have been screwed over.  Good luck!

  • Can anyone tell me where I can go to leave a customer service review? I'm angry and feel like someone needs to know

I am completely frustrated with vzw at this point. I traded in my old iPhone 4s through the device recycling program, but i was not given the $200 credit as promised. I did not know that I could do this in store, and made the mistake of mailing it in. They obviously got my device confused with someone else's and they said i turned in an iPhone 4, and only credited me $100. I have been given the run around by their call centers for 2 weeks now. It clearly shows in the system what my old device was, and they can even tell me that the IDs do not match up and that I should be credited, yet I still have not received my $100. Every time I talk to them, I keep getting "you'll hear something in 7-10 business days." It's been that long and no response. I also visited a local store and spoke with a manager who said he would follow up on it for me and get back to me in 48 hours. Do you think I ever heard back from him? Nope. I called the store every single day and he never called me back. Awesome customer service right? So now I'm out my iPhone and my $$. And does anyone from VZW care? NO. They could have fixed this issue. They could have credited my account the $100 that everyone seems to agree I'm owed, but yet they haven't. Instead, they continue to waste my time by making me have to continuously call their call centers just to be told the same thing over and over again. This is unacceptable service from a company that's supposed to be the #1 cell service provider. And I can't find a single place to write an actual customer service review, I guess that means they don't really care if they give poor customer service because they don't want to hear about it. If anyone knows how I can speak to someone who might actually care about this issue and the horrible service I'm receiving that would be great. And I would highly recommend not using their device recycling program unless you do it in store. They are incompetent and will screw you out of your money.

Did you get resoulution.  What state are you in?

  • How do you get the trade in code for the $100 gift card?

On January 28, I activated a Samsung S4 that I had mail ordered from Verizon Wireless.  I went to the online chat service to find out about the $100 trade in for my functioning Moto Bionic, and after some back and forth, was told that they could not help me and I had to call customer support.
I generally prefer not to call because of the waiting time, but on several of my calls on this I have actually gotten through fairly quickly (i.e. under five minutes of wait).  So, on the first call, I was told to fill out the form on the trade in page using the code "Smart100" where required the online form.  The "Smart100" code did not work (and I tried various permutations, including initial cap, initial non-cap, space, no space, underscore_connect, all with no success).
I called back to inquire why "Smart100" did not work, and after the CSR explained case sensitivity to me (and I explained all the permutations that I had already run through before calling back), we agreed that Smart100 was just not going to work.  She then went to find further information.  She returned to the line to advise me that, indeed, Smart100 would not work, but that Verizon would send my phone a text of the code to enter on the trade in page within five calendar days of activation of the new phone.
I called on the sixth day, and I spoke to another CSR.  She told me that the five calendar days was inaccurate, and the code would arrive on my phone within five business days.
I waited until COB on the fifth business day , and called again.  However, the CSR (accurately) pointed out out that it was not yet midnight, and  the code would surely arrive that evening.
Unfortunately, I still (some 2 1/2 weeks after activation) do not have the code.  I have decided to try a different approach, to wit, a posting here.
    Suggestions?

For whatever it's worth, I received an email back in the same day from the "Wireless Device Recycling Team" with a code that went through.  I am not sure who the Recycling Team is, but this was a very positive experience after the frustrations of talking and chatting with CSR's who, while trying hard, were not well informed about this particular issue, so hats off to the Recycling Team.

  • ATV2 No Longer able to Sync with iTunes Library

My ATV2 has been working just fine for weeks. I've watched a lot of content from my iTunes library on my iMac. I started up the ATV2 to watch a show and the interface was all garbage. It displayed blurred garbage of some of the movie/show icons at the bottom of the screen and reported that the Apple Store was not available to try again later. It then let me navigate, but the interface was still messed up. Part of the far right section of the display was on the left side of the screen. I finally unplugged it and plugged it back in and the interface was fine. It also appeared to be showing content from the Apple Store. I proceed to watch my show from my library, and it will not sync. It appears to but none of the content images show scrolling on the left side of the interface. Selecting a content category results in it displaying a message that it is "Loading...", but it never loads. I've restarted both devices, turned off and back on Sharing on both devices, recycled my Internet connection, but nothing seems to work. The ATV2 appears to be dead as far as syncing with my iTunes library now.

This just happened to me. Lost all my info on my phone but when I logged onto my laptop it showed all info was still in my calendars. If this is the same for you need to go to your settings, then go to mail, contact, calendar, then go to add account, then other, add CalDAV account.. You will have 4 things to fill out put Yahoo (server name) put your  yahoo email and password and the description as yahoo... When you hit save will change the server name on it's own to CalDAV.calendar.yahoo.ca..... Once this goes threw all your info should come back to your calendar. This is what I did and it worked. Hope this helps.......

  • How do I get Verizon to honor the $200 trade-in? (they only gave me $36).

I'm writing this while on hold for the "Verizon Device Recycling--rippoff--Program".  (877) 835-2024.
I've seen on line that many others have had the same problem.
I traded in my iphone4 (in great condition), followed all the directions to a T and they send me a gift card for $36.
It was promised to be $200 ($40 for the phone in good condition and $160 in promotional value).
Has anyone had any luck in getting the $200?  If so, how?
