Devices Not Showing Up in Device Manager After WinXP Install

I installed Windows XP Professional CD after re-formatting and partitioning the hard drive in my ThinkPad T42 (2378-FVU).
After finishing the install and running Windows Update for an eternity, Device Manager still can't detect several items. (I was able to get my wireless networking to work after installing a driver from Intel.) These are the "Other Devices" in yellow listed in Device Manager:
- Ethernet Controller
- PCI Modem
- Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Yes, I dutifully downloaded and installed these and other device drivers from Lenovo's website.
Why doesn't WinXP SP3 detect my devices?!?
I saw other posts about a WinXP Pro install on T41 Thinkpads with the same problem. The recommended solution was to install the device drivers "twice." I'm sorry, but I don't understand what that means, twice? The solution also seemed to indicate that the install is supposed to be done at two different locations. But, only one path is listed in the solution and my drivers are installed in the solutions' paths.
Hopefully, someone can be more explicit about how to do the driver installations twice.

The other path is C:\DRIVERS\WIN....the first setup tells you the exact location if you pay attention.

EA4500 Router Device not showing up in device list - Please Help

Hi all
I have an EA4500 and am using Cisco Connect Cloud software. Its working mostly fine except that I have one device on the network that will not show up in the device list. This is not an issue in itself and normally I would ignore (although it used to show up when I forst got the router) however.......
The device is a WDTVLive media unit and required access to windows shares on a media server. Now the WDTVLive device is server an ip address by the router and is available from everywhere on my network but every couple of days it loses the capacity to search windows shares.
I know what you are thinking and I initially thought the same, this is an issue with the WDTVLive box. However one day I spent a few hours trying to resolve (Am an IT Consultant and know a little about networks) and found that I could not fix the issue. I then rebooted the router and it started working. I have since confirmed that every time it breaks I have to reboot the router.
So I kind of think the two issues are linked.
Sorry for the ramble. Can anyone help please.

Further to this issue which I ignored as it did not really cause any issues, I recently clicked a samsung tv device which thinks that is three different devices. It has three lan addresses listed. One of the addresses listed is the original device that will not show up so I suspect that this is why it does not show up.
It seems that I have a conflict but I can find nothing anywhere to allow me to resolve.
I cannot even delete the Samsung TV device as its x button is not editable.
Should I just try removing the cloud connect software. I must admit that I am starting to think that I made a bad decision with this router.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

W520 Smart Card reader does not show up in Device Manager.
It was working before and now nothing. Nothing happens when SD card plugges in.
Could my smart card reader stop working or is this a configuration issue?
Any thoughts?

The issue is related with software, to resolve this you need to re-install the card reader driver from the below mentioned web link.

After that check if the issue get resolved.

Here is the full story. It may be long so please bear with me. I take a lot of pictures and movies. Since I have over 30,000 pictures I decided to place the Iphoto library on an external drive to save space on my internal drive since ot was getting very full. After I did that it worked fine for a while. Then one day I could not open the Iphoto library. Since I was overseas at the time I brought it to the IStudio ( not an Istore) overseas. They said to rebuild the library and they would do that for me. It took all day since I had so many pictures. When they called me and told me it was ready, I went to pick it up. They started to show me the new library. It crashed again. Not knowing how to fix this at the ISudio, they installed Aperture and imported the Iphoto library. This worked fine for a short time.When back in the states, it crashed again just like Iphoto. I took it to the IStore. They did not know why the overseas Istudio did what they did what they did and rebuilt my aperture library. Again it worked fine. Now that I am overseas again. It crashed again. However, I concluded that the reason for these crashes is becuase I have the file on an external drive that derives its power from the Mac and not by itself. When I use it and stop for a while the MAC will go to sleep and this cuases the external drive to shut down. This then causes the library to have inconsistancies. Therefore, when it happened this time I tried to repair the library and after 36 hours it would close down Aperture. Therefore I decided to rebuild the library. That did not work either. So I tried opening the Aperture library with Iphoto. That seemed like it was going to work but after importing half of the 30,000 plus pictures. I photo shut down. I then made a new aperture libary and erged the old library with it. This worked. I now have an aperture library that works. However, when I plug my camera into the MAC nothing happens. The camera does not show up in devices in either Aperture, I photo nor in Finder. The USB port and cord I use works fine becuase I can read my external hard drives fine. I checked as SIG suggested in this thread and everything is set to open aperture when the camera is connected.
I have the newest OS version 10. 7. 2 and the computer frequently updates all my programs. I have not installed any ne software lately. The problem happens both if I am on battery or plugged in. Just before I came overseas the IStore replaced the Battery. I can go back to the IStudio here overseas but the last time I was there and told them about the problem ( I did not have my computer with me) they did not impress me with their wisdom. I will be back in that city in a month and can go there if need be. Thanks for all the help so far. God bless.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

ATV1 not showing up in devices

So, I HATE the ATV2 I bought some time ago, because the wifi in my house wasn't strong enough to support any decent streaming (I'd get constant buffering or music would get warped), so my boyfriend and I switched ATVs. I now have an ATV1.
I did a full factory reset, did all the upgrades, made certain my iTunes had all the latest updates, etc.
My ATV1 can see the internet just fine; my iTunes has home sharing turned on.
The ATV1 does not show up in devices.
I have re-done the factory reset
Turned off all firewalls
Checked and rechecked that home sharing is on
Both are on the same network
I get three/five bars on signal strength
Network test tells me that the test is "successfully completed" but doesn't tell me what the test results are
Airplay in iTunes can find the ATV no problem (but the audio comes out horribly corrupted [sounds like trying to watch TV when there's horrible weather interfereing with the dish])
Why can't I see my ATV1 in the devices? How do I get content onto it if it doesn't show up in devices?
Computer is a MacBook Pro 10.6.8
All software completely updated on the laptop, iTunes, and the ATV

Ok, solved my own problem.
It doesn't show up in devices until after its been paired.
For anyone else having this issue:
On the ATV1
Go to settings > computers > add computer
At this point, you should notice in your iTunes library to the far right of the screen, next to where it usually says library, it should say Apple tv. Click that and enter the five digit code you got on the television screen. Answer all the questions.
Then go into the "add shared itunes library" option
Click on the apple tv (same place) in iTunes.
Enter the new five digit code. Answer any new questions.
Ta-da, home free.

Try updating the driver for Apple Mobile Device in the Universal Device controller section of the Device Manager.
(Apple Mobile Device will not show if your phone is not connected)
If you want to manually assign it:
Make sure your iPhone is connected to a USB port on the computer.
Launch Desktop and hover your cursor over the bottom-left corner of your screen to reveal the Start screen icon. Right-click on the Start screen icon then click on Device Manager.
Right-click the Apple Mobile Device in the Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Click the Have Disk button.
Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the usbaapl file. (if 64bit then it may be called usbaapl64)
Click Open in the Have Disk window, then Next and Finish.

IMac Bluetooth keyboard not showing up under devices in my iPad

Even after I remove it from my list of iMac devices, if I touch a key on the keyboard, it reconnects to the iMac. So after I removed it from the devices on my iMac, I shut the iMac off to see if I could get it to work with my iPad (first generation) and it doesn't show up under bluetooth devices on my iPad. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, or is it not possible to do this? I even paired (and unpaired) my iPad to my iMac. I followed all the directions to unpair/disconnect my keyboard from the iMac, but I still cannot get my iPad to find the keyboard under bluetooth devices.

Firewire device not showing

using a G5, tiger 10.4.9
I have been using this computer for many months with no problem using firewire devices. I recently set up a seperate user account on the computer for my daughter. Prior to this ( for many months)I had a fireiwre device - LACIE external HD -connected that would mount each time at startup and show up on the desktop. Now, I can't get the icon on the desktop of the LACIE to show when I startup. I connected a camera to the computer using firewire, but it too would not show ( before it would). When I connected the camera using USB, it showed up on the desktop. Looks like firewire devices not showing. I checkd System Profile and it shows the LACIE device as connected and functioning. But it won't show up on the desktop. Any ideas on why I can't ge the Firewire devices to show on the desktop?

Sounds like you have the name wrong. Open Disk Utility and take a look to verify the volume name. Disk Utility will list the drive itself, then indented below that is the volume name. To verify that you are using the correct name, try launching Terminal and do a list command:
ls -a /Volumes/"Name of Volume"
Hit the return key and see if the contents of the volume are listed. There is a space after "ls" and another after "-a"--if you don't get anything or get an error then you might want to try
ls -a /Volumes
and try copying the name from the list and pasting into the AppleScript.

How can I connect my new iPhone to my iTunes account on my computer? It is not showing in the devices when I connect it.
