DHCP IP Version 6 and Version 4 Issues

I have been investigating an issue with Remote Assistance within my company for the past several days an i think i have narrowed it down to the DNS server.
The DNS Server seems to have an IP version 4 address and an IP version 6 address. when you ping the device the DNS returns an IP Version 6 address.
When i remove this addreess from the server the Remote assistance starts working again. my networking guys tell me that they do not rout IPv6 over the wide area network, however they do over a local area network.
my guess here is that a local DC is registering the IP Version 6 address in its DNS and then replicating itself to all my other DC's causing computers to try and communicate using IPv6
So i am thinking that i need to switch all the computers to Prefer IPV4 over IPv6.
Is there any potential problems in inacting IPv4 over IPv6 over a the entire environment?
Environment Setup:
49 Domain Controllers in mixed mode between 2003 / 2008 and 2012.
16000 computer's give or take 1000.
SCCM 2007.
Orchestrator
Exchange 2007 + 2010.

It seems you've isolated the cause.

No. IPv4 worked for thirty years before IPv6 was turned on by default.

  • No phone service after a new iTunes version is issued

    I tried to use my phone yesterday and the call didn't go through. When I connected to my computer I saw that a new iTunes version (9.0.2.25) had been issued, and when I synched with iTunes it restored my connectivity. The same thing happened the previous time a new version was issued. There was no message on the phone saying it needed to connect to iTunes. I rely on the phone for continuous service in case of emergency, and don't sync it every day. If I were out of town I would be out of luck. Does Apple (or AT&T) de-activate the service each time a new version is issued, and rely on customers to re-sync when their phone goes dead?

    I have not experienced the same - not with any iTunes update when released.

    After installing 2.0, will Encore projects from previous versions open seamlessly into 2.0? I'm in the middle of a large project--is it safe to change horses mid-stream?

    You guys really never had any problems with 1.0 or 1.5? 2 out of 3 friends of mine (professional DVD authors, as myself), had to abandon Encore because of bugs. And yes, as a programmer, I certainly do know when a program has bugs, as opposed to my own errors. I'm not saying I have never had problems that weren't my own fault, obviously I have.
    Encore 1.51, on an ongoing basis would randomly corrupt files, menus, subtitles etc., which caused me to do over days of work more than once. Almost everyone I know has had these corruption problems, and I have seen it mentioned in these forums many times. These problems happened on at least 6 different PCs, with Encore being reinstalled on some of the machines a couple of times. Drivers/compability issues don't apply to most of the problems (for instance simply closing a working project and then reopening it the next day, and it becoming corrupt, wouldn't be a compatibility issue). I use many high-end animation programs, graphic design tools and interactive media creation tools without problems like I have witnesssed with Encore.
    As for subtitling issues - I thought that was clear how I knew that the fault was within Encore and not the user. I'm not talking about simple overlap issues and incorrect coding issues, which I have had, I'm talking about Encore deleting all subtitles throughout the project, once you completed adding them.
    Question for those that disagree with me, who say that Encore 1.51 works great - have any of you done really in-depth interactive projects? (I am asking seriously, not sarcastically) For instance, I did not have problems on simple DVDs with 2 or 3 menus and 10 or 11 linked videos. When Encore seemed to start corrupting my files was when I was working on educational DVDs with 30-40 menus, 50+ linked videos, with each video having subtitles in english and spanish, as well as audio in English and Spanish. {Encore advertises that all this should not be a problem]. So I'm asking seriously - has anyone worked on really complicated projects, with many subtitle and audio tracks, that took weeks or months to complete - without any corruption problems? I'd actually like to know - I'm not putting it out there to be rude.
    If Adobe can admit that since 1.0 and 1.5 were early versions of the product, and, not surprisingly, had some issues which have now been fixed, then I'll gladly upgrade. If Adobe's official position is that Encore NEVER had any bugs, and the only possible errors were on the user end, then I am not interested in upgrading.

  • My experience with Apple TV and HDMI/HDCP issues

    I am convinced that it is the software update to 4.2.2 from 4.2.1 that is causing this issue.  All forms of applications only worked once for me and then it reverted back to HDCP issues.  I read several postings everywhere including plenty at Apple's forum and AVS where people were very frustrated with this HDCP issues.  Anyways, here is what I did before taking it back to Apple store....I bought AUVIO high speed cables from Radio Shack which is rated very high and tried that and I still got HDCP issues when using NetFlix or AirPlay from iPad.  Youtube from Apple TV always worked well without HDCP complaints.
    I packed everything back and took it to Apple Store (you can return without re-stocking fee up to 14 days from the day of purchase).  After 14 days, you cannot even return it and you can ONLY fix it.  I waited for a Technician.  They heard my complaints but didn't refute any of it (possibly because they have had numerous complaints on this product).  It took 5 minutes inside for them to test and see similar issues with the box that I had.  So, they have swapped it for a new box.  Before I left the store, I checked the settings including software version and Audio/Video settings in the Apple TV that is connected at the store.  I found three main differences none of which the Apple customer service staff agreed could be the reason for my problems (surprise!!)
    1.  The software update from the shelf and the one they were using was NOT updated to 4.2.2 (it was still running 4.2.1)
    2.  Because of the software update, the Audio/Video setting for HDMI had the options to toggle between Auto, RGBy, RGBhi & RGBlo bandwidth.  I believe this was in place to make the HDMI interface output as component with higher or lower bandwidth but the newer update will ONLY give you the Auto option (!!!)
    3.  They had this directly Ethernet wired and not through Wireless network and were recieving the all the full bar strength signals.  On the box that I returned, eventhough I have 18 Mbps speed at the house (any given time of the day), the Network speed test was taking a long time.  Moreover, after the Apple TV network test, it doesn't spit out the outcome of the tests (a BIG bummer and useless for testing).
    Anyways, I took the new box and hooked it up directly to my SONY BRAVIA XBR3 TV to one of the HDMI ports, disabled the feature to send or recieve data to Apple directly and did NOT update the software.  It worked fine and have tested all of the options.  From what I have read so far (I have only spent 30 hours of my weekend on this when Apple product hookups are supposed to take 5 minutes ONLY), there is NO guarantee that it will work continuously as people have had things work on them for 6 months and then suddenly have the HDCP issues.
    Will wait to see....if it continues to work....

    I figured it out. Had to go to general settings on the main screen and restart. Synch of audio is much better.

  • Upgrade to MDEX 6.4.0 and RAD toolkit issues

    We are currently evaluating the 6.4 build for use with our web app and are having issues due to it being designed with the RAD toolkit for the 6.1.3 build of MDEX.
    Process.
    Upgrade of MDEX to 6.4
    Update the Reference App (normal not Rad) with the presentation API dll's
    Run Reference app and it works as usual.
    Upgrade current web app with Presentation API dll's and the fun started. (this pointed to needing to Upgrade to RAD Toolkit for 6.4 (RAD 2.1.3)
    Upgrade to RAD toolkit
    Upgrade all references to use the new RAD dll's
    now we get +"Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."+
    After stepping through the code everything looks good. It points to the MDEX server @ port 16000 (which is exactly what the Reference App uses)
    At that point I decided it might pay to see if the RAD reference app would run.
    Configure iis7 to use the RAD reference app and Run the site.
    Set the input box's to point to our MDEX server and MDEX port and it returned the following error.
    An unexpected error occurred: Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

         I am facing the same issue.I installed the entire setup(mdex version 6.4.0,tools and frame work,platform services,RAD tool kit) and configured a project .The project runs fine in workbench and in the reference jsp application.But i am unable to connect it through the RAD tool kit.I get the same "Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." error.
           Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.

After we upgraded our appliances we are having issues with our ESA appliances showing the RAID status as unknown. When we reported the issue to CISCO we were updated there were no issues reported at all. Could anyone please confirm if you have experienced the same issue.

    There are times post-reboot, that you'll see and get notification of RAID sub-optimal --- meaning that the appliance is running through on a health-check of the appliance's RAID.  You should be getting a notification once RAID status has returned to OPTIMAL, or as per the older OS revisions, READY:

  • OS 10.4.4, iLife 6 and Background images issue

    I upgraded my Mac from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 (with Automatic Updates) and the same day purchased and installed the iLife 6.0 package (that updated the 5.x version that came with my Mac).
    A day or 2 later I decided to change the background photos on my displays. I had been using photos from my iPhoto library and as I scrolled around looking for appropriate pictures and trying them out System Preferences quit on me. I had to restart in order to bring back the ability to alter the background images. Other programs and operations remained unaffected but I was unable to bring up the "Change Background Image" option on the contextaul menu until I restarted the computer. iPhoto was not running at the time. I restarted the computer and the same issue cropped up several more times, always after scrolling thru and trying several images.
    These problems never occurred with 10.4.3 or before or iPhoto 5 or before. I don't know if the problem is with iPhoto or not, but I assume that there is interaction between System Preferences and iPhoto, or at least that System Preferences uses the iPhoto database files.
    Any ideas?

    Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
    Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
    You can double check this yourself:
    First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.

  • Printable PDF and few other issues

    I am using BIEE 11g and experiencing few issues and looking for advices for issues below :
    1. Printable PDF format
    - When i download dashboard and answer to printable PDF, the PDF's format doesnt seem following the format of dashboard. It maintains overall format, but it becomes uneven. And gap between sections and columns of dashboard are quite different with it of dashboard on the screen.
    - Image included inside columns of table for conditions, It looks fine on the dashboard and answer, but it gets misplaced if i download them in PDF or PPT. Sometimes the images are outside the table. However, it works fine with Excel.
    2. Mobile Device Management
    - For addition of new mobile device, I go to Administration => Manage Device Types. When i try to create a new device, it gives me error message saying "This Device Type cannot be deleted/updated as it is a pre-configured system device". Is there anyway i can add new devices?
    3. MS Word. Direct download impossible for dashboard and answer
    - This one is simple. Is it possible to download answer or dashboard directly as MS Word format. I heard that security of MS Office blocks users for direct download.

    you update it by connecting it to a computer running itunes and starting itunes up on the computer clicking on it in devices and clicking on the update button in the content menu
    if it say you have the latests then it's because you don't own an iphone 3gs but an iphone 3g where the version 4.2.1 was the last released
    in that case you can't ever update it

  • Flash trapallkeys and context menu issue on Mac

    Hi
    Using Flash CS3 and AS2. There seems to be a conflict when trapping all keys and with the context menu on Mac. If I have a Flash movie with a single line of code:
    fscommand("trapallkeys", "true"); 
    When I open the resulting swf in either the standalone Flash Player or if I publish as a Mac projector, when I right-click I get the context menu appear as normal, but none of the menu items work - nothing is triggered and the menu disappears. This is even the case for "Settings..." and "About Flash Player..." items. If I open the swf in a browser or run the movie from the Flash authoring environment, then the context menu works - but of course the fscommand is not run in these circumstances.
    I've tried publishing for different Flash Player versions (down to 5!) and running in different Flash Players (a couple of version 9's and the latest version 10). 
    Has/can anyone get the fscommand to run AND the context menu to work together in the standalone Flash Player or the Mac projector? By the way, this only seems to be an issue on the Mac version - both work together on a Windows machine. 
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    We had the same issues as you described and we're on NW 2004s patch 9.
    We applied the OSS note 909314 (as SAP suggested) and those two issues were resolved.

  • Xserve 2006 and Lion -- any issues

    We just became aware that our old suite of 2006 Xserves cannot do Mountain Lion -- a bit of a surprise. We got these 4 years ago so then the deal we got seemed good.  So my quesiton which I cannot find a clear answer to is this:  Are there issues with Lion on these old Xserves we are missing.  I get this gut feeling from having run Lion on 4 of these for better part of year and now finding them failing  and having to reinstall -- corruption issues--- that as a transition from Snow Leopard to Moutain Lion that some issues may be the almost transition status of Lion that leads to Mt Lion.
    Cany anyone provide information if we are going to have these  problems again?  Is trying to run more than Snow Leopard Server on the 2006 Xserves going to continue to have issues?  We had hoped to go to Moutain Lion which clearly is more robust and not with issues that Lion Server brought, but that is not going to work.  Our racks do not have room, nor do we have funds to buy some new Mac Pro Servers. And even the expense of 4 new mini servers and the need to get a HD rack to work with them rather than bays of  Xserves which we use as file servers is more than we had planned for in this years budget.
    The ultimate question in having file servers for a mostly now Mac with a few specialized Windows 7 hard ware  (and ipads and iphones) end up being better on Snow Leopard?  One issue is that some of file servers have people running a few items on them, may be hard to also go back to Snow Leopard, but then we have tried to push these as archival file servers and do your work locally but the old habits of working on files on the servers still is hard to kill in  people who say well we have never done it that way.. argggg.
    Any feedback on what we are trying to do would be very much appreciated before we go too much further down rabbit trail of keeping Lion going on these servers. 3 of the 4 have issues now, the ones that people do alot of file access on  -- maybe a problem with Lion and file servicess???

    Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
    Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
    It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
    I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
    Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Firefox OS device. Can you please specify the device Model and Version?
    If your device is one of the Firefox OS Tablets from the contribution program, please be aware that those builds are still being improved and ironed out. If that is the case, please follow the guidelines for the contributor program to report issues with the device.

  • Updated to 7.0.5 and STILL having issues!!

    Just updated to Presenter 7.0.5 and STILL having issues.  Hopefully someone here can help (I'm at my wit's end!)  (BTW: Running Windows Vista)
    Specific error:  "MediaWriter::write: Unknown codec."
    Thought updating would relieve me of this problem, but it happened AGAIN when I went to update the audio on a PPT I'd published! 
    [This error] pops up sporadically, but OFTEN during editing and ALSO during syncing - I tried both!
    When it appears, I cannot move ahead.  Each time I click "ok" and attempt to re-play from the point I was at, the error will appear.
    The work-around I found requires that I:
       - Click "ok" to the error message
       - Go back to the editing window and jump a little ahead of where I was editing; then
       - Click play/record
    Doing this forces me to skip what I was attempting to listen to/edit and move forward from there.  It happens ALOT during one editing session.
    I cannot find anything on the Adobe website, or in Google search about this MediaWriter codec error!  Do you know of it?  Any answers on how to resolve it?
    PPT STILL CRASHES!
    PPT often crashes during audio editing and it did again, after updating [to 7.0.5]. It freezes and then I must force it to exit.  It will attempt to restart PPT automatically, but not before I see this error on my desktop:
    "PowerPoint experienced a serious problem with the 'adobe presenter powerpoint com addin' add-in.  If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?"
    I know Presenter must work better than this... any ideas on what's going on?
    Maybe I just need to uninstall and re-install. I have to find a fix.
    Sorry for the long post, but as you can see, I'm in dire need of help and am hoping someone or some others have experienced these things.

    I would seriously be sooo happy with THAT if I understand what you're saying.... So for all NEW presentations (that is I start with a blank slate, if you will), I will likely not experience either of these issues?  I just really can't go back to previous PPTs, try to edit them and expect them to work w/o these issues?
    If that's the case, I'm fine with that and will start anew.  I've just been experiencing this since installing Presenter (Version 6) and am finally at my wit's end with it since it's so time-consuming.  I do 100's of PPTs so can't go through this anymore.

  • IPads/iPhone and Open Wifi Issue

    Running Cisco wireless at a larger university and We're running into issues with ipads and iphones on our network.  We run an Open guest network.  No encryption.  But are having difficulty getting ipads and iphones, of variying models, getting connected reliably.   We get "error joining network" messages, but only for the Open networks.  Also, it seems Random.  3 out of 4 times it fails and then it will connect a few times and then fail again.  It makes no sense whatsoever.
    Here is out network setup:
    Wireless network enryption:  None (Open)
    WLC is a 5508 Running version 7.0.222.0
    We also have 2-4400 models running 7.0.222.0
    APs are 1131's (ABG) and 1142's (AGN)
    We have run several tests to confirm that this seems isolated to our Cisco envirnoment and only Open networks.  We have another vendors products on site (That we've been slowly replacing with Cisco) and have the same network configured there and are not having these issues.  We have also tried putting a WPA2-PSK password on the network for testing purposes, and that elminates the issues, however, we need this network to be Open due to requirements on our end.
    We've tested everything from iPad 1's up to iPad 3's all running the latest iOS 5.1.1 as well as iPhone4 and iPhone4S version running 5.1.1.  All seem to have the issue.

    I better explain this better:)
    The session timeout will force a user to have to log back on the webauth. Idle timeout will allow the wlc to know of the iDevice even if it goes to sleep, or else it will timeout after 300 seconds which is default. Fast SSID change might not be needed unless you want the ability or devices to be able to switch to a different SSID or else the will have to wait for around 30 seconds.
