DIAdem memory increase

Hi, I have a question about the memory used by DIAdem.
On one PC with DIAdem Base, I this code:
For I = 1 to 10
    Call DataDelAll
    Call DataSetLoad("EXAMPLE.TDM")
    Pause(10)
Next
Every time DIAdem load the file, I see in the tasks manager, that the memory increase, even if before I use DataDelAll.
If I run the same code on other PC with DIAdem Pro the memory is every time the same.
Do you know if I need to configure something in DIAdem Base to avoid that memory increase???
This is a problem for me because sometime the process use all the RAM available and some of my problems that I describe in other my posts are probably due by low memory.
Thanx a lot

Hi Michelle,
We will need to try to reproduce this error in order to advise you.  Can you tell us what version of DIAdem you are running?  It really sounds to me more like an issue with the particular computer that DIAdem Base happens to be installed on, rather than a difference between DIAdem Base and DIAdem Professional, but we can at least try to reproduce it.  Theoretically there should be absolutely no difference between the two versions, since the same functionality installs in both cases and the only difference is what interactive features are activated in the licence file.  When running a VBScript, I do not believe there is any difference between DIAdem Base and Pro, at least not since DIAdem 9.1.

  • Memory Increase - MacBook Pro mid-2012...?

Hello to all who reads this post…
I’m wondering if it's possible to upgrade the memory in my mid-2012 MacBook Pro...?
I believe this should be fairly simple and relatively inexpensive. However, after reading some of the forum posts & reviewing my systems specs on Apple's specs pages , I've become less sure of the possibility to increase the RAM.
My system specs indicate that my memory is upgradable:  Memory Slots ECC:  Disabled     Upgradeable Memory: Yes
One of Apple’s Support pages I came across seems to indicate that my systems RAM can only be upgraded to 8 GB’s max…(but now I’m thinking they mean 8 gigs max per memory slot) and the spec's page on the site seems to indicate that 8GB is the MAX for my MB-pro…?
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1270
Do any of the guru's here know how much, (if any), memory I can add to the 8 gigs of RAM currently installed?
If so, what brand of memory and how much of a memory expansion would be best to boost the speed of my MacBk?
I’m hoping the memory increase will give my system an extra boost & extend the lifespan of my Mac…. ( not to mention that my 3 year old son is getting more and more involved with gaming apps…the type of apps that become resource hogs, hogs that love RAM chips..) In any case, I’d like to increase the 8GB of RAM to 16 GB or 32GB and I would truly appreciate any thoughts, advice, feedback, shout outs, etc…
In any case, here are my system spec details:

Look at this video for installation instructions:

You will need a #00 Phillips driver to take off the bottom panel.

  • Memory increase problem on Solaris

We need your help in understanding and solving a memory problem in one of our products running on Soalris. The server memory keeps growing and there is a fear of a server crash.
We've run our product with Purify and libumem to identify memory leaks. Both of these products didn't report any leak. So, we are very much confident that there are no memory leaks in the product. Still the memory increase is seen on Unix systems. We've done extensive analysis on this subject and absorbed some key points regarding memory management in Unix.
    1) Memory doesn't shrink on Unix systems. This is for the libc to retain the released memory and reuse it for further memory requirements.
    2) Based on the memory requirements to our application there can be a stabilization point where in the application can serve all memory requests.
After reaching this point the Server memory doesn't increase. But the fear is that it may exceed the hardware resources constraint.
    3) Rapid increase in memory can be because of Memory Fragmentation problem. There are environmental variables like Small Block Allocator (_M_SBA_OPTS) and Arena (_M_ARENA_OPTS) on HP-Unix machines which can be used to address Fragmentation issues. We've performed some tests using these variables and found significant improvement in the usage of memory. This confirms that there are no memory leaks. These variables are specific to HP-Unix machines and we are unaware of similar variables/mechanism on Sun Solaris Platform. Please recommend some environmental variables/mechanism on Sun Solaris platform to solve fragmentation problem.
We are performing some tests to observe memory stabilization over a period of time .
The memory bloat is following a pattern. Memory is increasing in chunks of (MB) 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 MB pattern.
For example if Memory increase is 64 MB, then it stabilizes for some time and the next increase would be 128 MB at a time.
Then it stabilizes for double the time consumed earlier for 64 MB and after that only increases by 256 MB.
So the memory increase and stabilization time are getting doubled each time. Please validate our analysis and kindly suggest what can be done on Unix platforms for solving this memory increase problem.

    Thanks MaximKartashev for your inputs.
Ours is a Multithreading application. We are testing it with Hoard for the last three days. The observation so far has been that the performance of Hoard is high but the bloat pattern is not avoided.
Even with Hoard, memory bloat is following a pattern. Memory is increasing in chunks of (MB) 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 MB pattern.
We are searching for other ways to control this pattern and stabilize the application by making it to reuse the fragmented memory completely.
We have also tried Solaris libgc memory allocator (http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/libgc.html). It worked well initially and memory drop was seen. But on heavy load, it crashed the application with 'Can't allocate header' error. So this can't be used for heavy load.
We are trying to use Boehm-Demers-Weiser Garbage Collector (http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc/). Do any one have idea, if it controls memory fragmentation ?

  • Runtime engine memory increase when .exe is not running.

    Hi,
I have built a stand alone application that on launch will pop up it's front panel, and wait for the user to click the run button.
If i look in Task Manager, i see the .exe is present and has memory allocated to it.
If i do nothing (do not click the run button), and leave the application window open, the memory allocated (as seen in Task Manager) increases (about 3mb over 24 hrs). -note, the .exe is not actually 'running' my code, as the run button has not been clicked.
    1, is this normal?
2, is there anything i can do to stop it?
3, is this down to my coding? (-would seem not as my part of the .exe does not run until the run button is clicked by the user?)
I do not have experience with memory & windows handling of it.
I understand the concept of a memory 'leak' -increasing memory due to continually incremented arrays etc.
Note, i am running the Execution Trace Toolkit, and it is enabled in the .exe.
LV 2011, SP1, WIn XP. (going to upgrade soon, but have held it static as a dev platform...)
    Suggestions welcome...
    Thanks.

    BlueTwo wrote:
    1, is this normal?
No it is not.  An application needing to click run before it works, is not normal.  Open Microsoft Word, does it run?  Do you need to click a run button?  Other programs do not behave like this and neither should yours.
That being said I don't think this memory increasing by not running is normal, but I have never seen it and maybe that's because my program is either running or not.  It is never in limbo where it is running but not doing anything.

  • Will more memory increase my iMac performance ?

will more memory increase my iMac performance ?

    Depends.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

  • Report Background Engine Memory Increasing on Reports 6i

Hi... we recently upgraded our ERP system from Developer 2000 to 6i. Some of our functions require many reports to print at once (labels, invoices, pick tickets, etc).. What we've noticed is that when we do this, the report background engine increases in memory significantly and does not release the memory when finished.... and can cripple the work station.
We know we can issue the Oracle_shutdown parameter to close the RBE after each report, but are there any other options as we feel this may slow down our printing?
    Thanks,
    Scott

If you use "dynamic" ref cursor, your package specification must have "dynamic" ref cursor type for (dynamic) query
(from 9i we can use predefined SYS_REFCURSOR built-in data type) and "static" ref cursor type for Report Layout.
SELECT statement in "dynamic" ref cursor must have the same number and type of columns as "static" ref cursor type.
And, of course, your package must be stored (=database) package, because PL/SQL engine in Reports 6i is v.8.0
but "dynamic" ref cursor is a new feature of PL/SQL v.8.1.

  • IPod Touch, iOS6, "Other" memory increasing every sync?

I have noticed that since the "update" to 6.0, my iPod touch has an increasing amount of "other" memory with every sync. The amount of "other" increases by about 400 mb every time I sync it. Even when I synced it twice in a row with no new podcasts or anything at all that would have been different from the sync just performed.
I restored it from backup, and the "other" memory stayed the same. When it got up to 14 GB, I restored and set up as "new", and the "other" memory dropped back to normal, then immediately started increasing with each sync.
I de-selected the only 2 apps that have updated recently, the only thing I couldn't undo is iOS 6. Other than that, I have done nothing different than I've been doing for the 2+ years I've had it.
Is there something I have set wrong in the settings since it's a touch and not a phone? I didn't change anything when 6 was installed, should I?
I really don't want to have to restore this thing as "new" every month!

Thanks for your reply.  I saw those threads and a few others when I searched earlier, but not the one about Safari. I don't use Safari often, but I will try clearing the cache. That's the only one of those things I haven't tried.
I wondered what the "other" was a long time ago, and looked it up. It was behaving normally until recently, after the iOS update, when it started gaining .2-.5 GB per sync. And restoring as "new" didn't stop that, it only reset the "other" to a normal size.
I mainly use this iPod for podcasts & mp3, and watching videos. A few other apps, nothing new added or changed that I could maybe think might be the cause.

  • PGA Memory increase indefinitely

    Hello.
I'm using Oracle XE and doing some load tests on a java application using JDBC as connector.
During the load, 6 data tables increase but every 3 minutes, a scheduled job purge everything.
My problem is that my PGA memory size increase indefinitely and, after 12 hours, I exceed the 1GB memory in total and oracle doesn't respond.
I have about 40 query each seconds.
    Thank you very much !
    Bruno

Sounds like some pretty serious testing. Might want to try backing off some of the workload, get a successful test baseline established. Memory might be the fastest storage method, but its not infinite. Even more so when using XE with the 1G/1CPU limits.
What are you trying to accomplish, what do you want the database to do, and what are you asking the database to do? Those aren't always quite the same things ... ;)

  • Heap Memory Increases to Maximum

    Hi,
I am new to weblogic Server.
My problem is the used heap size keeps increasing till the maximum(1GB) and then Garbage collection happens, once GC happens the used heap comes down to 250MB
and it continuously goes though this cycle, even if no application is actively running on the server.
Is this normal, this is the way it would work?
    current Setup
    -Xms1024m
    -Xmx1024m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
    Weblogic 10.0
    No maintenance pack installed
    AIX and IBM Java 5
I got Out of memory when I Had the application running, but the same application running in local system (Tomcat winxp 512MB, where I simulate the load also) did not throw OOM error.
So the possibility of memory leak by application is very less(I will investigate that also later) but I need to confirm if any fine tuning is required for the above setup
Please help me to identify the problem.
    Thanks

You need to do a stress test with the current JVM, as each JVM behaves differently over stress test and based on the values we can tune the JVM for optimal settings
The below settings may be used as a starting point in debugging this issue.
    -XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m -XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -Xmn256m -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m
I hope it works for you.

  • Memory increase  in a Flex state application

I built a simple Flex state based video application on Flash Builder 4.5. There are 4 states. Everytime I go from State1->State2->State3 or State1->State2->State4, the memory in internet explorer increases, but is not released. What am I not deallocating?

It really depends on your application architecture. The key is to remove all references (including event listeners) to an instance in order for it to garbage collect. This is done by implementing a manual clean up on the instance.
The most basic form looks something like this:
    public var view:MyView;
    private function load():void
              this.view = new MyView();
              this.addElement(this.view);
    private function unload():void
//make sure to remove any event listeners attached to this.view
              this.removeElement(this.view);
              this.view = null;
This is assuming the above code is in some kind of component, and MyView is the view you want to display.
If you wish, you can initiate the view loading/unloading process by listening for the stateChange event on the parent component.

  • Total application memory increase?

About 2 months ago I purchased a 32gb memory card for my blackberry 8330 smartphone. Is there any way I can possibly increase the total application memory of my device? (Please forgive me if this is a stupid question as I am new to this whole smart phone universe.)

    No.
The media card will be of use for media, i.e., music, videos, pictures and documents. You can't increase the device memory.

  • PAVILION 7955 memory increase

    Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion 7955 system P5269A (2002) with  1.49 Ghz 256 of RAM. I have some video editing software that requires 512 of RAM 1GB or more recommended. They also recommend using a seperate drive from the one that is running any operating systems.
I have been told that I need to purchase and install an SDRAM PC133 512 MB maximum memory 1GB. and that particular store priced one to be ordered at 56.99.
I see on Amazon, what looks like the same thing for 8.90
    http://www.amazon.com/Generic-512-MB-PC133-SDRAM/dp/B000068IKV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377042674&sr=...
My Pavilion manual says my motherboard contains either DIMMs or RIMMs depending on which model I have. HP site has no further info that I can find to help, apparently because my model is so old.
The Amazon memory board is 168 Pin SDRAM DIMMS - Synchronous DRAM. 3.3volts, 2K refresh rate, 133MHz.
1.) Will this Amazon purchased memory board, match to my model ( DIMM or RIMM )and give the needed increase of RAM ?
2.) I have Windows XP Home edition version 2002 Service Pack 3, I'm told that installing more memory than my system can handle will cause major problems. Is my system OK for this RAM increase ?
3.) If in fact, I can install this memory board and get the 512 of RAM, when I install the 2nd hard-drive, to be used for the software, will the 2nd drive have 512 of RAM, or is the increased 512 RAM actually shared between the two drives, and I would still be too short to use the software properly ?
My thoughts and questions, are coming from a very limited knowledge of computers. I may be thinking and asking completely inadequate questions. Did I mention that I'm a musician ? ( ohhh nooooooo )
Thank you anyone, for any help.

    Sambaboy, welcome to the forum.
A musician, huh?  Me, too (Guitar/Sing).
Before I answer your questions, I want to let you know that because the computer is older it may not give you the performance that you require even with the new memory.   I suggest buying a new computer when you can afford it.
Here is the Product Specifiction page for the computer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph06804&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&...
    1. It may work, but it would be best to buy all new memory.  It is difficult to match new memory to existing memory without having problems.
    2. You can only upgrade to 1.5GB (3x512MB).  This is the maximum supported.  The computer simply won't boot with more.
    3. The new drive will not have any memory. All of the memory is on the motherboard.

  • Sawserver memory Increased rapidly and crashes the services.

    Hi Gurus,
In my development env we are using Windows Server 2003 R2, OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2, Internet explorer 6 and Oracle 10 g . When i logged in and go to the Dashboard which having only one simple report (table view report, Oracle) I entered the value in prompt and i got the result. Once i got the result when i am clicked on refresh button which is below the dashboard report and i saw the memory of the sawserver service in task manager is increasing. Then i am keep on doing this for few times it increased lot and after that my browser get freeze and i cant do anything. At that time when i am trying to restart the service i cant stop them i have to kill the services ( BI Admin and presentation).
My Question is, Is this behavior is right? why the sawserver services are increasing rapidly when i am trying to refresh the report.
Might be you are asking me why i am refreshing the report. Because we got the heap error in the production and production team told that sawserver is not releasing the memory. So to test that i have done above task
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    @li
