Diagnostics Agent Configuration in MSCS environment

Hi,
Our production servers are running on MSCS environment. We want to configure e2e-RCA. Can you please advise how we can install/configure Diagnostics Agent in cluster environment & resources which I can refer?
Thanks,
Kris

Dear Kris,
You can refer the Diagnostics Agent Setup Guide - 7.11 which is available at service.sap.com/diagnostics--Media Library.
You will need to install the agent in each physical host as recommended in the guide.
Additionally this quetion has been answered several times in the forum, so you might want to try a quick search before you post your questions, they may already be answered.

Paul

  • How to install SMD Agent on a MSCS?

    Hello helpers,
we have installed a PI 7.1 (double stack) on a MSCS environment. The next step is to connect the PI 7.1 SAP system to our SolMan and to install the diagnostics agent. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any documentation explaining an installation of the SMD Agent in a MSCS environment.
Does anybody know what has to be done? Do I have to install 3 agents, one on every MSCS node and one in the SCS/ASCS cluster resource group, or is only one agent needed in the SCS/ASCS cluster resource group?
    Looking forward for any answers,
    Sascha Piotrowsky

    Hi Sascha,
To distribute a solution to the diagnostics the install path must be verified in TC SMDIAG_WIZARD. To verify the install paths an installed SMD-AGENT is neccessary.
    Yes
Another point is that we like to monitor the J2EE Servers and Dispatchers from the 2 instances on "nodeA" and "nodeB". So in my opinion at least 2 SMD-Agent should be installed, one on every node. Do you agree?
No, you need one SMD Agent, this agent can then monitor multiple instances on one virtual host. The connection is only between virtual host and agent, not between instance and agent.
But what shall I do with the ASCS00/SCS01 instance. Does an SMD-Agent installation bring any effort on "clusterSID" or is it a must?
It's not a must, only relevant if you want to receive host metrics from this host. As this is only virtual, I would not install one here.
    Best regards
    Michael

  • Skipping request for user policy assignments due to agent configuration for authority

    Hello all,
    Symptoms:
The Configuration Manager only shows the following actions:
    Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
    Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
In Software Center there are no applications visible. Also the default 'IT Organization' is shown instead of the 'real' name.
    The Confugration Manager:
shows in the tab 'General' the correct Management point. Connection type is 'currently intranet' (ok)
shows in the tab 'Site' the correct site code.
shows in the tab 'Components' all components as either 'installed' or 'enabled'. Only CCM Notification Agent shows 'Disabled'.
In SCCM 2012 under 'Client Settings' -> 'Default Settings' -> 'Client Policy' the setting 'Enable User policy on clients' has been enabled.
    Done so far (without success):
    Re-installed the MP
Run a query on the SCCM Database to check if there are any corrupt records. There are not.
    Installed version 5.00.7958.1000
    CCM Framework: 5.00.7958.1203
The computer is installed with a task sequence. There is a reboot after 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr (CM2012 R2 CU1)'.
Installation command of the SCCM Client (during OSD deployment):
    SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSSLP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local SMSMP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\TDS00020\KB2938441\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2938441-i386.msp"

  • Diagnostics Agent 7.11 vs SMD Agent 7.00

    Hello,
In our SAP System environment, most of managed systems are running under SAP NW 7.0 platform.
We are currently installing SMD Agent 7.00. The installation is not finished and I was wondering if we can install Diagnostics Agent 7.11 on managed systems running on SAP NW 7.0 ?
    In other terms :
SMD Agent 7.00 have to be installed only on SAP NW 7.00
Diagnostics Agents 7.11 have to be installed only on SAP NW 7.11 or also on SAP NW 7.00 ?
Thanks in advance for your feedback
    Best regards
    P. Cuennet

Yes you can install diagnostics agent 7.11 for a managed system 7.00
It's even possible for a managed system 6.40
Prerequisite is that your Solution Manager stack verison is 20 or higher (EHP1)
You can find the details in the installation guide for diagnostics agent 7.11 on SAP service marketplace:

  • Diagnostics Agent 711 - SAP Host Agent - Installation on a cluster environm

    Dear all,
We have the following architecture in our productive environment :
    1. Cluster 01 is composed of 2 nodes.
On Cluster 01, only "Database" and "Central Services" are running
       for 5 productive SAP systems.
    2. Cluster 02 is composed of 6 nodes.
On Cluster 02, only "Central Instance" and "Application Server"
are running for 5 productive SAP systems
As read in "Diagnostics Agents installation Strategy", rules #4, slide 12 :
    ===================================================================
    - Do not install a Diagnostics Agent on host that only run Database
      or SAP Central Services.
    - Install a Agent on EACH host running a Central Instance (CI)
and / or a Dialog Instance
    ===================================================================
For our productive environment, we do have to install Diagnostics Agents 7.11 on cluster 02 where we have CI + AS running.
    Questions :
    1. How do we monitor "database" and "central services" data on cluster 01 (DB + CS) as far as no "Diagnostics Agents"
       are installed ?
    2. Do we have to install the new "SAP HOST AGENT" in our cluster 01 ?
    3. As written in "Downloading and Installing Package SAPHOSTAGENT"
guide, "you only need to install the host agent host taht not have
an SAP Component". Does it mean that the new "SAP HOST AGENT"
will have to be installed on our cluster 01 to monitor "DB+CS" data ?
    4. What are for SAP a host that not have SAP Component ... ?
"Database" and "Central Service" running for a SAP system should be consider as SAP Component or not ... ?
    5. What is the difference between the new "SAP HOST AGENT" delivered by SAP today 23.11.2009
and the "Wily Host-Level Introscope Agent"
       delivered by CA ?
    Best regards
    PC

Yes, it has to be installed.

    Hi,
You may need to check whether your SQL server which hold SCOM database has any performance issue. You can restart related SQL services and system center management configuration service. In addition, please check operation manager event logs on management
server and find out is there any error messages related.
If there is event 31552, then you can try links below to troubleshoot it:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sudheesn/archive/2009/07/28/getting-31552-exception-sqlexception-timeout-expired-very-frequently-in-scom-server.aspx

In addition, please also try to flush health service state and caches for management server.

  • Assign an Diagnostics Agent to two System Types

On my system I have installed SAP using a C-name but the database which is on the same server uses the physical server name.  The server has the diagnostics agent installed but when I go to managed system configuration I am only able to assign that agent to one of the system types.  Is there a way I can assign the agent to both the ABAP and the database systems?

    Hi Mary,
Install a new diagnostic agent on your physical host.

    Hi, All!
I'am trying to configure Solution Manager 7.1 by SOLMAN_SETUP. Do I have to install Diagnostics agent to host, where Solution Manager is installed? There are no other systems.
    Thank you!
PS. please, sorry for my english

    Hello,
Refer to note  1365123. This note shows exactly where you have to install the SMDAgents.
Basically, the SMDAgents are used to gather data from the managed systems, so for each system you want to monitor through E2E Diagnostics you will need to install a SMDAgent. But it is not as simple as I stated here, refer to note 1365123 and it will show you where to install it.

  • How to configure multiple dev environment in single IP

    HI,

    Tom,
looks like you are specifying http protocol in
    sky.framework.ejb.SkySessionBean.getInitialContext method.
Change it to t3 or, if the JNDI lookup is in the same JVM, don't specify
PROVIDER_URL. If you have to use http tunneling due to any reason , you have to
enable HTTP Tunneling in server to which initial context is created. It is
disabled by default in 60. You can do so via console. Please refer to
documentation , let me know if you need additional help.

This advice applies to WL5.1. I have been trying to configure a
multiinstance Weblogic with no success. I want multiple copies
of the sample petStore available for test by multiple users.
    I think in 6.0
You would need to open an admin server
Open the configuration file for say PetStore.
Clone the petStore- call it petStore2. .
Create a copy of the startup script and modify it to start PetStore2.
After doing this only one config.xml is created for both servers.
I am able to start the first server and view the petStore application,
On the second server I get an error when I do
    http://host:secondServerPort/index.html
How does one create multiple instances in WL6.0 using the console
or using a XML editor ?

NT isn't a multiuser environment. I will assume that
    you mean some
Win32 box sitting in a room where people can copy their
    classes/EJBs and
test their stuff. If this is the case, the setup is easy.
Create a directory and startup script for every developer.
    Have a
global properties file in the same directory as the scripts
    so that
common settings are, well, common. Tell each user to
    modify the various
parts of the properties files in their directories to
    deploy EJBs and
    register servlets, etc etc.
In each startup script, you will have to specify the server
    directory
and the binding port for each person. Pick a port (something
    easy to
remember and high, like 30000, 30001, etc etc) for each
    person. Why?
Well, when they connect to the app server, they'll know
    they're hitting
only their server. Also, TCP/IP won't let more than one
    JVM bind to the
same port, so if you want simultaneous instances (> 4
    you better have
one kick ass Win32 box) you have to do this.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • SMD Agent 7.00 or Diagnostics Agent 7.11

    Hello,
Our managed systems are running on NetWeaver 7.00.
We are currently implementing SAP Solution Manager Diagnostics using SOLMAN_SETUP guided procedure.
    In https://service.sap.com/swdc -
Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group" SAP Technology Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0 EHP 1" Entry by Component" Agents for managed
there are 2 kinds of Diagnostcis Agents :
    1. SMD Agent 7.00
    2. Diagnostics Agent 7.11
    Question :
Can we install a Diagnostic Agent 7.11 on our managed systems running on NetWeaver 7.00 or must we install SMD Agent 7.00 ?
Are Diagnostics Agent 7.11 supported for managed systems running on NW 7.00 ?
    Best regards
    PC

    Hi
To avoid libraries conflicts it is highly recommended to install a Diagnostics agent which has the same kernel release
that the SAP systems already installed on the host.
Refer the doc in this [link|https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_HIER_KEY=701100035871000526434&_OBJECT=002007974700000409092009E&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&]  Section 2.3 Managed system page no:8
    Hope this helps you
    regards
    Naveen

  • Diagnostics Agent 7.11 on iSeries

I"ve gone and got the installation master DVD and the Kernel DVD but cannot find the standalone Diagnostics Agent. Following You can download Diagnostics Agent installation DVDs from SAP Service Marketplace at: http://service.sap.com/swdc Download SAP Support Packages Entry by Application Group SAP Technology Components SAP SOLUTION MANAGER SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0 EHP1 Entry by Component Agents for Managed systems DIAGNOSTICS AGENT 7.11 <choose operating system of managed> gets me to the area but I'm not seeing it for our system.
Am I missing it or has it not been released for the iSeries yet? If not, then how is anyone else getting this installed if no agent is available?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ryan,
the Diagnostics Agent Installation based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1 EhP1 is supporter for OS400. Unfortunately, the standalone SMD only installation kit was not release for the OS400 platform and therefore is necessary to use the standalone option found in the SAP NetWeaver 7.1 EhP1 installation media. You can follow the 711_Diag_Agent_Setup_Guide.pdf file attached in SAP note 1234387 to find the right components needed for this install.
    Best regards,
    Luis Gonzalez

  • Agent Configuration Assistant fails on installation

Trying to install 9iR2 on Red Hat Linux 7.3. I've got a test server working but the production one refuses to run the Agent Configuration Assistant. It just says

    Parameter /nodeinfo" = NO_VALUE

You can to verify if you have a problem with the firewall. Run the next comands
    Execute CMD and run
telnet hostname XXXX ------------> where XXXX is the AGENT PORT . This port its configure in the emd.properties file. This file is in the AGENT_DIRECTORY\sysman\config\
If you dont execute a telnet to this port, you have a firewall problem
