Dialup connection on e72 to connect to a wifi netw...

Hi,
I recently bought e72 . I thought it was easy connecting to my wifi modem, while I am at hme . My issue is that I am having BSNL(NETWORK NAME) broadband network. I have connected it to a wifi. Its not always ON BROADBAND, I need to enter my username and password to access internet, else my data gets charged.
In order to connect to this network I use my laptop, in which I have to enter my username and password to access the broadband.
But how is this possible in my mobile. i can see my wifi network, I entered my network key and it detects my wifi too. But without entering the username and password of my wifi my mobile wont be able to access internet, how can I make this possible in my E72.
In short as you connect to a wifi using a username and password in a laptop, is it possible to do the same in a E72 mobile phone, detect your wifi on your mobile, enter username and passwword when asked and access internet.
Sanju

Thanks for your reply. See I entered WPA pre shared key, but what should I do next. In order to access internet on my wifi modem, I should enter my ISP's username and password. This username and name password is not asked by my mobile.
Its a dialup broadband connection, u need to enter usenrame and password to access internet,

  • N78 Restarts when trying to connect to a wifi netw...

    Hello,
I upgrade my N78 firmware recently and now when it tries to log in to a web protected wifi network the phone just hangs and restarts right away.
Is there anything that I can do? I haven't test it with other wifi networks but I will soon...

  • OS 10.4.6. has broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching

I installed OS 10.4.6. It seems to have broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching when switching from one user to the next.
For dialup, it is extreamly annoying that I can not resume downloading a file from were it got cut off, but now, if another user wants to check their email, my download always gets broken and has to be restarted. Dialup is slow enough with out having to start from scratch even more frequently, now.
Also, in earlier versions of 10.2 or 10.3 (I don't remember which), I was able to switch users and maintain listening to a single users' iTunes.
I would like to be able to switch users and not lose either my dialup network connection or the primary users currently playing iTunes songs.
Perhaps for iTunes, one should be able to chose to mute another users' instance of iTunes, if it is currently playing.

I have not tried replicating this but might be able to provide some additional information.
We use network login accounts on our desktop computers. Fast User switching deliberately will not work for multiple network login accounts. (Remember network login accounts normally also have an associated network home directory mounted via AFP.)
Now a bit of background about volumes and mount points under Mac OS X. Under Mac OS X, any additional drive (or more accurately 'volume') is listed under the 'Volumes' folder, remember also that Mac OS X is a Unix operating system. So just as normal for Unix, the boot drive is '/' or the root level and Volumes is a folder in it. The underlying Mac OS X software automatically 'attaches' and additional volumes as sub-folders in the 'Volumes' folder (in Unix speak these are called 'Mount Points'), if you have an external hard-disc called 'Fred' then this would be represented by the following path
    /Volumes/Fred
If you happen to have two volumes with the same name connected at the same time then while in the Finder they may show up with the same name, in Unix they would have different names automatically assigned to keep them separate like so
    /Volumes/Fred
    /Volumes/Fred 1
Now getting back to the Fast User switching problem and AFP volumes, when you login to a File Server volume it also is automatically added to the Volumes folder, so if we have a File Server volume called 'Shared' it would look like
    /Volumes/Shared
With Fast User switching potentially both user accounts could be accessing the same /Volumes/Shared which means both user accounts would be talking to the server via the same File Server login, hence the possibility for one of the Fast User accounts to be using the 'wrong' permissions.

  • Tethering Bold causes Dialup connection box to appear when opening IE

I am using a Bold 9000 from ATT.  The ATT 6.10 Com Manager installed on a laptops causes the dialup connection box to come up every time I open Internet Explorer even when I am connected to the network.  It wants me to dial out to make a internet connection.  If I log onto the system as admin I can unselect the dialup box and it works fine, when the user logs in under his profile it will not allow him to unselect the dialup connection box.  This is without the BB being connected to the laptop and the laptop connected to the network.  The laptops is running Windows XP.  I have removed and reinstalled the software to try to fix the issue and it still persists.  Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry, it was not my intention to be rude.
I've been following your helpful suggestions. Ie. checked to see if perhaps my missing mail is ending up in a junk box. I have created an Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, and Archives, within MAIL, but never a junk box. So I checked everywhere, ie. through all these existing mailboxes, through Spotlight, etc. for anything to do with Junk and found nothing relevant.
Next, went into MAIL Preferences. Found within 'Rules' folder, that there is only one Rule ticked as Active. Its listed under 'Description' as 'News from Apple'. I think the Apple store guy who first helped me set up my email put this in? Anyway, when I pressed Remove button, a message said, 'Are you sure you want to remove the selected rule, 'News from Apple'? This operation cannot be undone.' So I wasn't sure, and pressed Cancel button.
I did decide to untick the 'Enable junk filter' box, but all that it was doing was highlighting suspect junk mail text with a brown color. The rest of the emails appear in black text when they arrive in Inbox.
Meanwhile, I am using an ordinary dial up POP connection. I have an Apple external modem attached to my MbP, and a modem cord plugged into the modem at one end and the telephone socket at the other. This is the same modem cord I used successfully with my G3.
Further comments or suggestions are very welcome.

  • Dialup connection with Advance Replication

My Multimaster replication 9i is working fine on LAN with hostname setting with dblink method.
I want to connect office and home databases for replication with dialup connect with local isp. DSL connection is available in office.
    1) How will I connect with dialup from home; i.e. should I make a dblink with IP setup instead of hostname at home; and provide the dynamic IP address of home server in office server?
    2) Do I need static IP for home as well?
    3) If we setup our server with dynamic IP then what changes will we make on every connection; I mean should I make a dblink for every dynamic IP? Or should I open tnsnames file every time when we connect through dialup?
Is there any other setting required for connection between two servers? Please guide me in detail.

Assuming that the dialup link even provides enough bandwidth to handle the volume of changes you're making, and that we're dealing with asynchronous, rather than synchronous, operation...
You would almost certainly need to have a static IP address on both sides. I'd be a little suprised if a dialup ISP offered static IP addresses, but I suppose it's possible. Barring a static IP address, you might be able to use some sort of dynamic DNS service, but that would just be adding another level of fragility to an already very fragile system.
You would need to be able to make a direct connection from your database at home to the database at work. Assuming that you follow basic security guidelines, though, the work database should be behind a firewall and inaccessible to the public internet. That would mean that you would want to create a VPN tunnel from your home machine to your work machine. That encryption, though, will tend to decrease the bandwidth you have for replication. If you don't use VPN software, you'd probably have to open holes through the firewalls at work and at home to allow database traffic, which would be somewhat insecure.
What is the purpose of this exercise, though? It seems unlikely to be particularly stable, however it is configured. If you can describe the goal, we may be able to suggest more stable alternatives.

  • How to share dialup connection from XP (ICS) through Airport Extreme?

Is it possible to configure my Airport extreme (gigabit version) and client computers to share out a dialup connection coming from an XP machine using ICS?
I figure I could pick up one of the old airport router that had a built in modem, but figured I'd try this approach first. thanks
Here is a graphic that shows what I'd like to set up
    http://spfarm.com/network.jpg

Hi, is the AEBS/n going to have it's own internet connection. This is important, because you can't have two gateways on the same subnet. This means you can't have both Dialup and ADSL on the same subnet.
If your only gateway to the internet is your dialup throught ICS, then you are forced to use the DHCP service provided by XP. However, XP DHCP server is very simple, and you can't change server computer's IP address, or change the range of allocated addresses. And you MUST disable the DHCP on the AEBS/n.
To summarize, you can only have one gateway per subnet, so if the XP is setup to use ICS, you must setup AEBS/n as a bridge.

  • Security requirement for dialup connection

    Dear All,
I have installed Cisco 3745 router with NM 8A/S module at central location which is connected to the PSTN network for dialup connectivity. Now remote users are connecting to central location through PSTN dialup connection.
Is it possible to do some configuration at central cisco 3745 router so that a specific telephone number subscriber can only make dialup connection to a specific NM 8A/S port.i.e. is it possible to restrict the diaiup users based on their telephoine number at the central router.
Also is it possible to create GRE or IPSec tunnel in this dialup connection.
    With Regards
    Anand

  • Will iChat work with a dialup connection?

I recently handed down my 2nd gen iMac to my father. He only has dialup capability where he lives. Does iChat work on a dialup connection? I have tried Skype and it was terrible. What other options are there if it won't work?

    Hi
Yes it should work for text and audio only.
Have him set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 56kbps
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.
    Restart iChat.
    And let us know.

  • Solaris 8 and dialup connection

I have a SunBlade100 running Solaris8 with a dialup connection to the internet using a 56k external modem. The connection has been fine until several days ago when the dialup script started ending at
    "call cleanup (0)"
    with the following error message:
"10:08:43 process_ppp_msg: PPP_ERROR_IND maximum number of configure requests exceeded".
The following Q&A is from docs.sun.com:
Problem: Cannot establish PPP link. Operation fails with the status message:
"PPP error on ip_interface: Maximum number of
    configure requests exceeded"
Solution: PPP Configure-request frames are generated to start the link
establishment phase. After a certain number of frames (defined by the keyword lcp_max_restart in the file ppp.conf) are generated without a valid response, the client assumes that the remote server is unreachable. This may indicate one of the following:
There is a problem with the physical connection between the two hosts. Check the cable to your modem.
PPP is not running on the remote host. Check that PPP is configured and started at both ends of the link.
The link establishment phase is not completed, because the configuration negotiation does not converge. Check for configuration problems.
If you are trying to establish a link over a long-delay network, such as a satellite connection, or over a congested line, the maximum number of configure requests may be exceeded before the negotiation is completed. Increase the maximum number of configure requests sent (lcp_max_restart) and the time between retries (lcp_restart_timer).
My question is: where do you go to edit the variables "lcp_max_restart " and "lcp_restart_timer" ?
Thanks in advance for any info!

    Thanks for the reply.
I did a file search for ppp.conf as it doesn't exist at /etc/opt/SUNWconn/ppp/.
It doesn't seem to exist anywhere on my computer!
Is ppp.conf the normal location for the variables "lcp_max_restart " and "lcp_restart_timer"?

  • How to setup Linksys WRT120N for a dialup connection?

I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router. There is NO broadband modem connected to it. There is only a dialup modem inside the desktop computer.
Windows XP SP3 is sensing that there is an always on connection to the internet with the Linksys WRT120N
Question: How to I configure the Linksys WRT120N for a dialup connection?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update
The DHCP Server "disabled" setting doesn't stick, it returns to "enable" when returning to the configuartion settings tab, for whatever reason.
Anyway, everything else seems to be there, including the "MSHOME" for networking; but STILL doesn't recognize dialup as default connection.
Here's an example of what I'm seeing:
When a time sync program is run automatically at startup, before the Linksys router was added, it would WAIT for dialup connection to be made BEFORE syncing the time.
After Linksys router was added to the computer, the time sync program, when starting with windows, will NOT WAIT for a dialup connection to be made, it will attempt to sync with NO DIALUP CONNECTION being made.
A temporary fix has been to go to Local Area Connection (the Linksys router connection), right-click and uncheck Internet Protocol (which will also uncheck client for microsoft networks and file and printer sharing).
I've manually reset Linksys router back to factory defaults and waiting for any help.
The USB Adapter has not been configured to work with the computer that will be networked.  Currently, I plugged it into the computer with the Linksys router to quickly give you all the information I have for the ipconfig /all
(The networked computer will not always be used.  What prompted my post, is that first, what I am really after is trying to fix this problem with the time sync program seeing the internet connection as "on" when a dialup connection has not yet been made.  Then, I'll focus on the second computer networking.)
As you requested here's the ipconfig /all info:

  • Why doesn't dialup connection work?

I just bought a MacPro and cannot get a dialup connection to work 90% of the time. My old computer connects every time, but the MacPro hardly ever goes thru, maybe once for every 10 tries. What's up?

If you are using the v.92 dialup protocol try scaling it back to the v.90 protocol. maybe that will give you some better reliability.

  • My iPod Touch will no longer connect to the wifi?

I have a 4g iPod Touch with IOS6.0.1. My  iPod was connected to my wifi and working fine two days ago. I went to get on about 7PM yesterday, but there was no connection. I have tried shutting the wifi on and off, airplane mode on and off, reseting the network connections, have made sure I put the password in correctly each time, powered off the iPod, restarted it, and even rebooted it back to factory settings. Nothing has worked. I did get connection finally about an hour ago, but it lasted three minutes and then disconnected again. I know it's not the router because all my other devices that use wifi are working just fine. Does anybody have any other clue as to what to do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
