Hi Reddy,
During your requirements gathering, you will have to determine which processes you will want to execute automatically, and how often you will want to have them run.  From these requirements, you will develop your job list.
Refer to these SAP documents.  They contain the major management issues for each of the major modules.  Many of the programs that you will want to run regularly in batch will be contained in these documents.  These documents also provide a nice overall picture in business terms of how SCM/APO can be used.

  • Background job in APO does not start because of invalid user name

    Hello,
    I have a macro in a planning book and the /sapapo/cons_check program which a triggered via a background job. Now, I have problems with the start of the job:
    At the time the job was created inside SAP, an error occured. The job contains invalid values.
    The user name within the job does not exist any more.
    Now, I try to change the user name of the job (via step in sm37), but the error occured again.
    I have the possibility to create the invalid user name once again in su01.
    But I want to change the user name of the job - does somebody know how to do it?

    Hello Heinz, this looks surprising.
    It's quite easy to change the user name in the SM37 job step, and we haven't faced issues with this.
    Could you check how many jobs are in either "scheduled" or in "released" status, and change steps for all of them? May be you changed the scheduled job, but the released job wasn't changed.
    Use your job name and give a search date as 1-2 years in the past, and around 1 month in the future. With this time horizon, you should most likely be able to capture all the relevant jobs having the same name that you are using.
    Now change the user name in step for all the jobs received above to be fully sure.
    One more trial could be to copy the current scheduled job to another job, modify the user name in this newly created job and then delete the old one.
    One of the above trials might possibly help you in some way, else its very tough to understand/explain your situation.

  • How to reschedule STOs in BOP jobs in APO?

    Dear Friends,
    We have a problem in APO BOP .
    While running BOP, the STOS are not rescheduled. Upon checking the BOP result, the STOs are displayed with Status 'Unchecked'. and dates are not altered, even though the availability situation has changed.
    I would like to know, what needs to be done to reschedule STOs in BOP run?
    PS:
    1. I have selected the STOs (BI) in the BOP filter criteria.
    2. My Sort profile contains the following fields with the priorities indicated on right side.
    ERTMS     Created on                          3
    LFTMS     Delivery Date/Time     7
    LIFPRIO     Delivery Priority     1
    ORDSTARTTIM     Start Time     5
    WMENG     Requested quantity     9
    3. We are using SCM 7.0 with ECC 6.

    You can check your selection in Confirmation situation Tab in BOP Filter and make changes so that STOs can able to reschedule.

    In APO DP or SNP we have many jobs which have to following certain sequence. For example after loading the sales history only you can generate the CVCs. All these jobs has to start and finish in sequence. In the process chain you can defined or sequence all the your jobs according your need. You can also schedule these process chain as pre our requirement.
    So I will say process chain is better and more flexible way of scheduling and sequencing different jobs in APO. For example In you case you have daily process chain which might be loading the data in different Infoobjects  which are master data.

  • Planning area data not updated in infocube in APO system

    Hi all,
    User is uploading a flat file using addon program to an infocube 1, from this infocube data for  sales forecast KF is getting transferred to a planning area KF using standard program RTS_INPUT_CUBE.  I can see the updated data in Planning book (which refer the same planning area) data views. In planning book the sales forecast data is also getting copyied to second KF 'Arrangement FC' and its correct.
    Now there is a infocube 2 (second) which is getting data directly from this planning area (infocube also contains both KFs). But When i checked this infocube 2 , the updated data is availabe in Sales forecast KF , but arrangement forecast KF is having old data only and user is running query on second KF , so he is getting wrong report.
    Since there is no data flow for this infocube 2, and it is getting data from planning area, I feel its remote infocube.
    I have also found the datasource for this planning area but don't know how to move further to find why data is not updating properly? Please help on this.
    I have information that 2 weeks before data was properly updated, but this time data is not updated,
    system version  is SAP SCM 4.0

    it is advisable to run the background jobs when the planning books are not being accesses by the users to prevent such inconsistencis. Hence i would advise you to run the jobs durng non-working hours. and if you have a global system, then you may restrict to run the jobs based on regional levels.
    in addition, it is also a good practice to run consistency jobs before and after your have completed the background jobs. i hope you are using process chains to execute the sequeuce of jobs. if yes, then you can add consistency check jobs in the process chains.
    some of the consistency check reports are :
    /SAPAPO/OM17 - liveCache Consistency Check
    /SAPAPO/TSCONS - Consistency Check for Time Series Network
    /SAPAPO/CONSCHK - Model Consistency Check
    and so and so forth..
    you can find these conssistency jobs under APO Adiminstration --> Consistency checks in APO.

    Hi,
    We are running program in background to close order with FM BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE.
    The job is failing with messages in Job Log
    APO: Message number 999999 reached. Log is full
    APO: Task handler for transaction IZVSlIkXAQxX0000bkikP 0 has not been registered
    Please can you provide some pointer to stop these messages in LOG or disable the LOG. These messages are coming after FM AVAILABILITY_CHECK (Include LATP4FA0).
    What is reason for these messages and what is solution for this problem.

    i think u cannt deactivate application log creation.

  • Program does not create PCP0 documents for TMS Idocs

    Hi All,
    We have a dialy job that will catch up all payroll/tms idocs that is being received by the system. The program will automatically creates a document in the tcode PCP0 for every idocs that it has gathered both Idocs that have no errors and Idocs that have errors. Would like to ask if you have experienced the cause of this?

  • Operation status 'Fixed' in Production order

    Hello all,
    We are facing an issue with Operation Status 'Fixed'. If we go to transaction /sapapo/rrp3 and double click on Production Order (R).  Then clcik on Operation , say 0100, at right side you will see multiple Operation status. One of them is 'Fixed'. We can make this indicator active ny fixing the order in planning board (right click=> Fix).
    Here we are facing an issue. We are not fixing any order through planning board and still I see Operation status 'Fixed'. Even I unfix it, next day it gets fixed automatically. I suspect that either any job in APO or R/3 do this activity. Please note that in this case 'Date_Fixed' indicator is not checked. Like when you fix the order from planning baord, system check the checkbox for 'Date_Fixed" and for operation status 'Fixed'. In our case only Operation status becomes 'Fixed.
    Please let me know what are the different ways to fix the operation status.

    As you mentioned, if the operation is scheduled at non-working hours then it gets fixed. I checked with the user and they confimred that they are not using the non production hour while rescheduling the order. It means they are not using the check box of non-working hour from DS startegy or Heuristic.
    Please let me know what are the different possibilities which can schedule the operation in non-working hours.

  • Pointers for optimizing system performance (run time) while running DP process chain with parallel processing

    Hi Experts,
    We are running APO DP process chain with parallel processing in our company, we are experiencing some issues regarding run time of process chain, need your help on below points;
    - What are the ways we can optimize process chain run time.
    - Special points we need to take care of in case of parallel processing profiles used in process chain.
    - Any specific sequence to be followed for different processes in process chain - if there is some best practice followed.
    - Any notes suggesting ways to improve system performance for APO version 7 with different enhancement packs 1 and 2.

    HI Neelesh,
    There are many ways to optimize performance of the process chains (background jobs) in APO system.
    Firstly I would recommend you to identify the pain areas (steps) which are completing with more runtimes. Then each one of the step has got different approaches to decrease the runtime.
    Like you may end up with steps like infopackage executions, DTPs, DP mass processing jobs etc which might be running with more runtimes. So now target each one of them differently and find out the ways to optimize. At the same time the approach you follow should be technically possible with basis perspective (system load and utilization) as well.
    And coming to parallel processing, you can use parallel processing for different for different jobs. You can further r explore on the same using parallel processing. Like loading an infocube, mass processing, infopackage execution, DTP, TSCOPY etc.

  • Client error in OM13

    Hi,
    wrt the subject line. waht does the message mean.
    the planning book (DP only) is not being read and gives this msg while loading a selection
    Internal error /SAPAPO/OM_TS_CHANGE_TG
    Error reading data: planning book cannot be processed.
    and thats when i traced down to OM13 assuming this is the problem. On the check tab of OM13, the field client error is RED
    To reassure myself i have done the initialization of planning area, deactivation and activation of pos and recreation of cvc's, ts cons checks, om17, tsreorg, pstru etc, everything is consistent. no errors.
    planning books is still not read. only DP planning book, SNP books are fine

    yes. this was a case of non-existent time bucket profile in data view.

    I am trying to complete a large initial load of sales statistics data from an R/3 system into a BI system. I get this error:

    I have searched OSS and found many references to a programming error that causes this, but not for program RFKK_MASS_ACT_SINGLE_JOB. Is this a known issue? Is there something I can set up differently?

    My User has deleted the CVC's combination for one product in APO. He is asking me load the deleted  data by tracing in ECC.How can we trace out the Product Hierarchy in ECC for the Product. Please help me.

    Hi Manasa,
    Assuming that the user has deleted the CVCs only in the planning area, I have the following possible options:
    1) Do you take backup of data from planning area? If yes, go to the backup cube, and you can find all the CVCs correspodning to the product. Create CVCs using the backup cube. Then load the data from the backup cube to the planning area (by using this material as selection criteria). Most likely you would be able to recover all the lost CVCs/Key Figures in this way (Depends on what kind of backup you take).
    2) If you are not taking a backup (I would be very surprsied if this is the case), your task might not be easy. Talk to your BW team. They would be either sending the history data relevant for creation of CVC, or they might also be extracting data from DP planning area for reporting purpose. Either ways, it might be easy to identify the CVCs based on data available in BW system.
    Next would come the issue of how to get the Key Figures data against the CVCs. It could be simple or complex depending on your design. I can't directly comment. May be you can get history data easily from BW, and then run the DP jobs in APO to do the relevant calculation, or otherwise wait for the already scheduled DP jobs to run and they would take care of DP related calculations. Be very careful about this part - you would need to understand your DP flow properly before taking any actions.
    3) You could try to identify the missing CVCs in R/3 by understanding what all characteristics you use in DP, and how you derive them during creation of CVC.  Again you could try to identify how you would get the Key Figures against the CVCs from R/3 to APO. Again, my guess is that these calculations should mostly happen in BW, so above option no. 2 should hold good, but depends on your design. If you are not using BW to get data for DP, your situation could be very tricky.
    PS: If backup is taken (option 1), that is the simplest and straight forward option for you, go for it. Otherwise, best of luck.

    i am going through this peculiar problem of background job scheduling:
    scenario is like , i have an CSV (excel file) in aplication server which would load data into the infosource, which i have scheduled to run in backhround (in infopackage) ,after event is triggered (option in scheduling tab of infopackage...THE SCHEDULING OPTIONS)
    now everything seems to be fine.. but the data is not getting loaded...?? could u lease help me out..how to load data from excel file (in background), after an event gets triggered.

  • APO jobs cancelled due to error- Time limit Exceed.

    Three jobs are scheduled daily to transfer data from R/3 to APO,
    These are cancelled due to error -"Time limit exceed".

    Hi Pankaj,
    There is a specific time allocated for each queue to clear and to get transferred across the system. the probable reasons are.
    1. The queue itself is taking more than the allocated time to clear due to system load. Each queue requires specific free memory from server , in case of overload system is unable to allocate desired memory hence the error might appear.
    2. If in a queue the very first entry is stuck due to x,y,z reason the queues following automatically go into "timeout" and then "system fail"
    Proposed solution.
    1. Analyze the first entry functionally. If Ok then ask the basis team to clear that particular entry.
    2. after time out the queue will go to "SYSFAIL". Double clicking on this will reveal the reason. Based on the technical reason I can suggest the relevant OSS notes to be applied.
    For detailed technical analysis check t-code CFG1.

  • " Send Masterdata Changes to APO" Job failure

    Hi All,
    We are facing issues where there are changes in Material Description in R/3 and those changes were reverted again.
    When these changes were sent to APO through background job, the job due to stuck queue. it shows the error "The ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert results in duplic ate database records.".We deleted the queue and rerun the job.
    This is happening everyday.
    Can you tell me what can we do to avoid queue failures?

    The same material should not be part of more than one active material integration model. I hope you have just one active material integration model.
    The other thing is if the total number of materials in the active material IM is very less , then you can try deactivating and reactivating the model. But it is not a good idea to do it if you have a huge volume of materials in the IM. Also try this in the test system , test thoroughly and then do it in production system
