Did anyone feel disappointed of the MBP 13 inch?

I was very disappointed about the new MBP 13 inch, that they called new, since they only things changes were the processor and the graphic card. They could totally added some new features into the computer, such as the new design.

I definitely feel pretty disappointed in the updates (or lack thereof) for the new 13" MBP for primarily two reasons:
1.  No retina display
2.  The superdrive was not removed which leaves the height or thinness at .95 inches (vs. the .71 inches for the 15" MBP with retina display)
I was about to purchase the new 13" MBP today but decided to wait until next year in the hopes that these two features will be added by then.  I currently use a 2004  12" PowerBook G4 and was really hoping to replace it this month.  Bummer.

Did anyone have success applying the Invisible Shield to their Ipad?

Yes.  Make sure any iPad Cover that you have for it is removed first.  Then, start at the bottom where the On/Off button is.  Peel off only a small section of the bottom of the invisible layer and attached the small exposed sticky side to the bottom of the iPad.
Line it up as best as you can.  Placing the edge of the iPad against a flat surface like a wall or backsplash on a kitchen counter can help you to keep the invisible sheet "square" with the iPad surface.
    Was that a confusing answer?

Seems awfully slow to load pages and surf after I installed. Not sure if it's just because it's still in development or whatever. Just wanted to get some thoughts.

  • Did anyone have luck getting the $200 SMARTPHONE recycling credit promo?

I purchased 4 smart phones on Black Friday and was promised by the Verizon store rep that I would receive $200 for every smart phone turned in to the recycle program through a promo code that would be emailed to me in a "few days" but then never received the codes. I have visited the store where I purchased the phones and received more promises but.... so far all I've gotten is the run around and confusion by Verizon. Has anyone made it through the gauntlet to receive the codes?  Bait and switch?

Been on the phone twice over the last two days with the recycle folks but they know nothing about the $200 smart phone turn-in promotion.  They did give me some promo codes that were good to bring the value of the phones I am turning in up to $100 but still not the $200 I was promised at the dealer.  I did finally reach someone at a "no kidding" Verizon owned store (some stores say Verizon on them but are actually just "authorized dealers") who told me that she would personally handle the phone turn ins if I bring the phones in to her.  I'll do that on Monday and post the results afterwards.

  • Did anyone have problems with the 2012 4GB Data Promotion?

I purchased a Droid RAZR on June 4th with the understanding that I would receive the 4GB upgrade on the data plan. Verizon did not and will not honor this promotion because, in their words, I manually activated the phone and the promotion was never applied to the account and there was nothing they could do. Really? Nothing? Even though I attempted activation through the device 3 times to no avail?  I have documentation that I placed the order during the promo and added the promo upgrade on the order. This is totally unacceptable and I am angry & disappointed in Verizon's customer service. I have been a customer with Verizon for 10 years and never experienced anything like this.
I am curious if anyone else has had issues with Verizon not honoring this promo? Thanks.

If you have the record of the purchase, and it lists the option to add the "Double Your Data" on it, then I would just go to a Corporate Store and talk to someone there. Did you buy the phone through Verizon Online? Somewhere else?

  • Anyone feeling left in the cold by verizon as a whole?

What to do when verizon reps say: " so sorry you picked the worst cell phone we've ever sold, but you're stuck in a contract & even though you been a customer for almost 30 years now... we can't do anything to help you". ?

Here is my original post. I feel that Verizon has been devious and unfair in their recent dealings with my daughter and me. I am still VERY angry about this. The phone in question is phone number removed for security would appreciate any help, but don't have high hopes.Thank youDavid  Thering.  I have had an account with verizon wireless for over 10 yrs. I currently have 3 lines on my account, 2 with data plans, 1 without.
In May of this year I replaced my daughters phone at a verizon store. I sat with the customer service rep and explained that I needed a new phone.
I chose the phone and he did his thing setting it up. As he was doing this he asked if I'd be interested in changing my plan.
I said no, I don't want anything changed, just the phone. We finished, and I walked out with a new phone for my daughter. I was unaware of any changes to my account.
In the middle of July, I got a notice that she had almost used all her allowed data. That had never happened, so the first chance I got I stopped at the verizon store where I bought the phone.
They said she used 1.9 of 2 gigs alloted to her. I said that I had unlimited data, and that it doesn't run out. The CSR said that as of May, I only had 2 gigs. She said that verizon was taking away the unlimited data. I told her that when I bought the phone, to my knowlege, no changes were made to the account.
She said that all accounts were being changed and that I should have gotten 6 gigs instead of unlimited. She also said the CSR that sold me the phone was new and didn't know what he was doing. When he sold me the phone, the data defaulted to 2 gigs. I was entitled to 6 gigs. Apparently he wasn't aware that it changed, at least he never mentioned it to me.
She contacted whoever it is in verizon that takes care of this stuff. After about an hour and a half, she said that verizon would take care of it. 2 days later I checked the phone account, and still only 2 gigs.
I went to the store again, and after another hour with the same CSR was told that the change was more than 60 days old and verizon wouldn't give me what I was supposed to get. Needless to say, I was angry beyond words. I called verizon customer service, and after an hour on the phone was told basically the same thing. Their solution was to pay an additional $20/month for 2 more gigs.
Is this fair? Does verizon make changes without telling their customers, and then try to suck more money out of them? The error was at verizons end with a poorly trained CSR, and policies that apparently weren't explained to their customers or employees. The 60 day excuse doesn't cut the mustard when it was their error.
I am angry and dissatisfied with the way I've been treated. I work in a customer service field, and I'd be fired if I did this to a customer. Verizon is one of the worst companies I've ever done business with.

  • Is anyone else disappointed by the nano 1st generation replacement programme?  I received a tiny mini nano in replacement for my recalled one - I at least expected something the same size and functionality!

I wondered if anyone else also got a tiny replacement that was not really like for like.  Or am I the only one?

Because it is smaller it is not like for like?
Sell it on the open market, lots of people are looking for refurbished Generation 6 Nanos.

  • Did anyone have trouble getting the Upgrade to a 6 Rebate?

I upgrade my Iphone 4 for the Iphone 6 promotion and as of today have not yet received my Rebate. I had to call again today and the guy told me it would be another 15 days for a response to see if I was even going to receive! Not sure what's going on but I sure could use that rebate to pay my bill.

Ensuring you receive your mail in rebate is very important Vince-jessie. Congrats on your recent upgrade to the iPhone 6. Did you mail in your rebate? For faster process you may also submit your mail in rebate and check the status online at www.verizonwireless.com/rebates. What was the reason you may not receive your mail in rebate?

  • Will the MBP 13 inch feel heavy or slippery in ur hands?

    just wondering.

I am sure no one intended insult.
Some have reported that the aluminum to either side of the trackpad is discoloring, indicating that something in their body chemistry reacts badly with the finished aluminum surface.  Some people naturally produce more oils.
Also, some have reported that the case is bending from where they hold it with one hand only.  Even the strong aluminum case should be held with two hands, one on either side.  This carrying position should reduce risk of it slipping out of your grip, even if your hands are slick.
I have never felt my MBP slip as the aluminum has just enough of a surface-texture with my two-handed carry.
But, as JoeyR has indicated, there may be some underlying question you have not directly asked, or not.

  • Did anyone get to download the video preview of LOST, Season 5?

I just happened to check on LOST, Season 5 which I've the season pass. There's a new sneak peak video, "Going on Vacation" with release date 12/1/08. It's a paid episode. Strangely, it has not been downloaded. Fellow season pass holders, are you experiencing similar issue? Don't want to contact customer support until I know it's a widespread issue.

Guess it's the usual late delivery. There's some connection issue with iTunes Store today as reported at CNET. Hope they iron out things soon. If I don't get to download the sneak peek by next week, I probably will contact customer support. Anyhow, I have watched the sneak peek at ABC.com

  • Anyone recommend MBP 17-inch?

I'm currently a windows/unix user and I've been thinking of migrating to mac for everyday use. I'm in the market for a laptop so I'm currently looking at the MBP 17-inch. My main concern is that there seems to be a lot of hardware issues with the MBP. Are hardware problems really all that common for Apple products? I've always thought that Apple had a good quality control program. If you could provide any perspective I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks

I've been using PCs since DOS 3.0 on my 80x286. I've never liked macs. They've always been slow, too "user-friendly" (which, to me, was always code for "inflexible"), with inadequate software. All through elementary and middle school, all the schools I went to had apples and they were constantly breaking down and generally performing badly. My PC could do just about anything I wanted it to, so I shied away from macs for a long time.
I got started with a G5 when I was a production office coordinator for a major feature film. I was sweating bullets about sharing crew and vendor lists, call sheets, and other information over the network. In a previous life I had been a network administrator for a small startup in Massachusetts, and the windows network never worked consistently. We were constantly rebooting, plugging and unplugging cables, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers... So I was getting ready for more of the same when I set up the osx network in our production office.
Despite a heavy userload and a lot of different flavors of laptops coming through the office, everything worked flawlessly. The windows machines people brought in even worked better with the osx machines than with other windows machines in the office.
That was when I decided to give OSX a try.
My apple 17" laptop is the first apple I've ever owned and it is far and away the most reliable, easy to use, and problem-free computer I have ever laid hands on.
The 17" is not exactly a joy to carry around with me all day, but as a portable workstation it has been fantastic.
I'm even running xp on it, too, so that I don't have to give up all the software I've been using all these years.
    Anyway. Highly recommend it.

  • Is my hardware obsolete with the MBP?

    Hi,
I currently own a Powerbook G4 15" (awesome machine!) and was curious how hard is the move to an MBP. Not too concerned about software, since most are now available as Universal Binary (Adobe, what the ****??). I'm mostly concerned about my invested hardware. For instance, these are things I use ALL the time:
    - S-Video port to connect a projector
    - Firewwire 800 port (must have this for external video drive)
    - PCMCIA slot for my Type II Cardbus audio card (http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/CardBus/IndigoDJ/index.php)
I noticed all of these are omitted in the MBP. What are the solutions for someone like myself to easily move over and use my existing hardware investments? Thanks for any info.
    John
    G4 Dual 533   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

    John, here are responses:
S-Video port - optional Apple or third-party connectors will handle that. Cheap.
FireWire 800 port - get a MBP 17-inch, which has this port. Or get an adapter that uses the new 34 mm card slot in the MBP 15-inch and which allows connection to a FireWire 800 external drive. Free with the more expensive 17-inch MBP; an add-on for the 15-inch machine, probably less than $100.
PCMCIA slot for your audio card - You won't find PCMCIA slots on Macs from now on, and they will soon disappear from PC notebooks. The new (and faster) card bus will will require hardware upgrade to the new card type.

  • Brand new Macbook pro 15inch (not Retina) wont boot my MBP 13 inch (2011) HD

Just bought a brand new macbook pro 15 inch, replaced the hdd with my 13 inch hdd and it wont boot. i got a Error msg. (Lion)
    - I put the new hdd in the old MBP(13 inch) and it boots fine.
    - I put back the old hdd in the MBP(13 inch) and it boots fine.
I figured the hdd wasnt compatable with the 15inch so then i cloned the 13inch hdd onto the 15inch hoping it would work. i still got the error msg.
so now im stuck because the 15inch wont boot from the stock hdd because it has the data from the 13inch. Very frustrating, what could be the logical reason to why it wont boot?

That's correct. The version of Lion you have on your old disk will not boot on the new machine.
What you should have done is make a Time Machine backup of your old drive. You still may be able to buy an enclosure for it and see if you can use Migration Assistant to migrate your apps and data, but I'm not sure that will work (works when an old drive is in another Mac and you transfer via, for instance, Firewire).
So you'll just have to resinatll the correct version of Mountain Lion and then you can TRY to use Migration Asistant to get your data/apps from your old hard drive once it's in an enclosure (again, I'm not sure that it will actually WORK, I've never tried it).
