    Hi All,
I need help in Process chains and event collectors.I joined in new project and this client using process chains and event collectors and they ask me to work on these areas.I didnt work on this as of now So please send any docs on this area and explain the procedure and technology methods behind this concept.I would really appreciate If someone can send me the full documentation on this concept as I couldnt find any  any docs on this.
    Thanks,
    Ras

    Hi Ras,
Process chains are a sequence of processes to be performed. The are put together in a chain with the necessary dependancies (process A needs to finish before B can start) and conditions (if A and B are successful then C else send an email), and then scheduled. They usually revolve around processes related to data loading: Load, activate, roll up, compress etc.
Please take a look at this links/threads for more info:

  • Difference between process chains and manual loading

    Hi all,
I just posted a thread asking the difference between the manual loading and the process chains, but surprisingly Iam not able to see my thread.
Anyways, I will be very thankful if anybody can help me out in explaining the difference.
    Thanks in advance,
    Preethi.

    Hi,
To see you thread change you settings.  process chians allows you to auto mate your data loads, roll up process, compression, psa deletion etc. and you can maintain a sequence like load depending master data and loading transcation data.
by manual load you have to do all the thinngs manually, like executing an info pack, compressing the request, delete psa request etc, this things also you can schedule. but you dont know the dependencies.

  • Difference between automation task and event in OSM

    Hi,
What is the difference between automation task and event in OSM anyhow both are having the automation plugin. Under what condition we will use these different things
    Regards,
    Menaka

You can attach automators to different OSM entities.
The most natural in a certain way is the task, since that is the main building block of processes.
But you have also notification (wich different subtypes) and order state events.
    Notifications could be:
jeopardy (order or task duration exceeds a certain threshold)
task transition (e.g. into accepted or into a custom defined state)
process transition (from position A to position B)
data change (certain order template element updated / created / deleted)
Order events mean global order state changes (e.g. from in progress to suspended)

  • Difference between process order and Production order

    Hi Experts,
Can any buddy tell me the difference between process order and production order. Why process order is used for process industries. Why do we use recipe for it and routing for production order ?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit
There is a difference between production order and process order.
Supposing a 10,000 lit tank is being manufactured in discrete manufacturing. You have to follow the necessary routing steps and can make by physically seeing its development stage by stage. For this type production you can have a production order.
In case of process of order if some chemical in a reactor is loaded with intial temp of 30 C and need to be heated to 80 C then there is phase change. Hence we use Heating as an operation and the change of temp is phase. For such type of process we process order.
Hope this is useful. Pl reward.

  • SCOM-Difference between Problem Count and Event Count in Application Failure Analysis Report

    Dear All,
Could someone explain me clearly , the difference between  Problem Count and
Event Count in Application Failure Analysis  Report. Please help me in understanding What is meant be problem and event in the report .
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh Kumar C

    Hello Rajesh,
The "problem" is the logically grouped set of the exception events which have the identical hash calculated over several fields as "Stack", "Source", "Failed Function" and so on... So, even if exceptions are different
in the other properties but hash matches over the considered properties - then all those exceptions go into the same "problem group".
So, event is an instance of the problem. One event contributes to one problem but one problem might have a huge event count if you have a repeating issue.
The logic is similar for the performance analysis report, only fields that go into the "problem" hash are different. e.g. "Stack" is not used in hash for perf events...

  • URGENT:Process Chains And events Related

    Hi All,
I have created a new process chain which is a normal ODS Process Chain. For that I started with the start Process and then created event in sm62 to trigger the start of process chain.Similarly,I have at the end of the process chain ,I have added 2 ABAP Programs ,one to mark the successful completion of process chain and another to mark the Error or Unsuccessful completion. For these programs,I maintaines Processvariants and here, we have utility Programs. So used the relevant utility program and created a program variant and Events ,One for successful completion of process chain and another to mark the Error or Unsuccessful completion.
But ,Now ,I find that when I trigger the eventin sm64,I find that the process chain is not being run.Is that any problem with the events I created. This is the first i am involved  with creation of events in SM62.Can anyone help me in  this regard.
Can anyone, tell me thatdo we need to do anything else apart from  Creating events .Imean like assigning jobs and then Programs in the Step of that Job.
Please Kindly help me in this regard. It is very very urgent for me.Thank you.Points will be assigned.
    Regards,
    Samir

    Hi,
I have tried in the same way you have said .I have maintained as after event and activated and scheduled.after that  i triggered the event insm64.But still,I am not able to see the Load in RSMO.
I have just checked out in sm37.And found that some jobs have failed.I think this might be the reason for the Process chain to not run.
I am just pasting the error msg and solution.
Job BI_PROCESS_ABAP, waiting for event RSPROCESS 489W6WH6I7OHV7BL3N9909F7F, has no predecessor
    Message no. RSPC003
    Diagnosis
Although job BI_PROCESS_ABAP has been started by event RSPROCESS 489W6WH6I7OHV7BL3N9909F7F and is recognized in the process chain, the current run for this process has no job preceding it.
This is why the system was unable to determine a log ID, and the chain is broken.
    System response
    The job has been terminated.
    Procedure
With the exception of the start process, each process must have a process that precedes it.
Then Another error for the another cancelled job is
Job BI_PROCESS_OR, waiting for event RSPROCESS 489WC2QYBC4AJSYILQ10TWABF, has no predecessor
    Message no. RSPC003
    Diagnosis
Although job BI_PROCESS_OR has been started by event RSPROCESS 489WC2QYBC4AJSYILQ10TWABF and is recognized in the process chain, the current run for this process has no job preceding it.
This is why the system was unable to determine a log ID, and the chain is broken.
    System response
    The job has been terminated.
    Procedure

Please kindly help me if you understand the problem.

  • Infopackage laoding scheduled in Process Chain and events involved

    Hi BW-Experts,
Till now I was loading a infopackage normally and it had an subsequent event. Now if I schedule this infoapckage in process chain will it raise event after the load finishes.
    Thanks
    Arun Purohit

    Its BW 3.5
in it when we go into infopackage we get options like..
    Scheduling Options
    Subsequent Processes
in subsequent processes we can tick on chk box for triggereing event.......
if I load this infopackage without Process Chain then it will raise event after load finishes....
    my query is?
will this infopackage raise event if I Schedule it thru Processs Chain after load finishes..

  • Difference between product costing and cost collector

    Hello experts:
Can anybody tell me wich is the difference between the product costing calculation and the preliminary cost estimate for cost collector?
    Thanks
    Laura

    Hi,
Product cost collector is a cost object which collects actual cost which are incurred in the production of materials periodically.  This is normally used in product product cost by period.  Whereas, product cost calculation is wider scope.

  • Difference between Process dialog and process batch

    Hi experts,
could you explain me the difference between the two ?
For me, it is basically the same...they do the same work but one is less performant ?
    Kind regards,
    Jamal

    anyways pls find the answer
dialog-DIA, used for processing dialog program, e.g awb-administrator workbench, bw monitor.
batch-BTC, used for any kind of process submitted for batch processing, e.g data load process, aggregate rollups, infocube compression.
    the batch job :
load process, aggregate rollups, infocube compression.
the job name can be identified start with BI_xx e.g :
    BI_BATCHxxx trigger to r/3
    BI_REQUxxx load to data target
    BI_ODSAxxx activate ods data
    BI_STRUxxx attribute/hierarchy change run
    BI_STATxxx statistics
    BI_DELxxxx delete data/request
    BI_AGGRxxx aggregate rollups

  • Differences Between Infopackage Groups and Process chains

    Hi All,
Can anybody explain me what are the differences between Infopackage Groups and Process Chains ? And how process chains are more comfortable

    hi nagarjuna,
An InfoPackage group is a collection of InfoPackages. In order to summarize data requests which logically belong together from a business point of view, and to therefore simplify the request, you can collect data requests (meaning the InfoPackages) into an InfoPackage Group. You can schedule each of these groups in the scheduler . With the data request the scheduler can access InfoPackage groups directly and thereby request more than one InfoPackage at a time, corresponding to the setting in the InfoPackage group. Thus, you can support InfoPackage groups with the serialization of your data requests.
While a process chain is a sequence of processes that wait in the background for an event. Some of these processes trigger a separate event that can start other processes in turn. hit this link to know abt PCs:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8f/c08b3baaa59649e10000000a11402f/content.htm
Process chains are more comfortable becoz itz not like infopackages where we have to schedule each pack individually. And in PCs, monitoring is very convenient since u see evrything in a single page.

  • What is the difference between  Process Type TRIGGER AND CHAIN

What is the difference between these two process types.  When I am looking process types, I want to provide information only about process chains and not individual steps of process chain. Looks like one can do using either.
Along the same line, I am looking  at  data from RSPCPROCESSLOG, no where this table has a column process chain id. So How od I find information about a process chain.
    Thanks a lot,

A "Chain Process" can be a a step in a Process Chain as well.    For Example: So you could have the following Process Chain:
    Process Chain Example
Step 1. TRIGGER (Execute Daily at 4am)
Step 2. DTP_LOAD Execute DSO Load
Step 3. DTP_LOAD Execute InfoCube Load
Step 4. CHAIN Execute Master Data Process Chain
I believe the "Master Chain" is called a "MetaChain" since it controls the start of another Process Chain.
    Hope that helps...

  • Difference between connection, session and process

    Hi all,
Can anyone please update me on the difference between connection, session and process.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Sri

I got this useful note by googled in net. It describes session, connection, process gracefully.
A connection is a physical circuit between you and the database.A connection
might be one of many types -- most popular begin DEDICATED server and SHARED
server. Zero, one or more sessions may be established over a given connection
to the database as show above with sqlplus. A process will be used by a session
to execute statements. Sometimes there is a one to one relationship between
CONNECTION->SESSION->PROCESS (eg: a normal dedicated server connection).
Sometimes there is a one to many from connection to sessions (eg: like
autotrace, one connection, two sessions, one process). A process does not have
to be dedicated to a specific connection or session however, for example when
using shared server (MTS), your SESSION will grab a process from a pool of
processes in order to execute a statement. When the call is over, that process
is released back to the pool of processes.
