Difference in field length internal note in sc and longtext

When I fill in an internal note in the shoppingcart the fieldlength is around 60 characters wide , but when I look in all the structures involved in shoppingcarts with longtext it is 132 characters width ?
Why is the webinterface length different than the actual structure and is it also possible to make them similar so there will no be strange line breaks in the internal note when you copy past textelements ?
or is it an error in customizing ?
the problem is when people create a sc and copy paste a text in a textelement then it is truncated to 60 characters. when it is printed the correct linebreaks are gone and the words are just filled until end of line.
we work with SRM 5.5

Hi dear,
This is the standard. Using Extended Classic Scenario the SRM document will be the lead document and not all information will be transferred to ECC. This mean, internal note and vendor text can be read in SRM only.

This is the question asked in IBM .
What will you do if field length of a field in flat file is not constant or not equal to the FIXED FILED LENGTH ?.
i.e. f1 is of length is 10 and in one row its length is only 9 what will happen and what will you do to overcome this situation.( consider its a FILE TO FILE SCENARIO )
can anyone help me in this regard.

The ans for this question is very simple.
Since your FIXED FIELD LENGTH is 10 correct. now if any value comes of length 9 or less, then there will be no problem at all. It will work perfectly without doing anything. BUT if your length goes beyond 10 then it will throw an error message which you can see in RWB.
Shorter length is never a problem in case of FIXED FIELD LENGTH.
I hope now you got the ans, but good way to learn is, to create a simple scenario and test it. )

Difference between field staus group for posting key and GL account

Hi all,
can anyone tell me what is the difference of usage for field status group in posting key and GL account as i notice the fileds are the same. during data entry, system will check both field status or how?

Both are to control the field status of the line item.
But, the FSG of the Posting Key and the GL FSG status should not clash like below.
Take 'Assignment' field as example :
Posting key FS - Suppress & GL FS - Required - will give you error message at the time of posting
Posting key FS - Required & GL FS - Suppress - will give you error message at the time of posting

I want to extend table "hr_location_extra_info_lei" column name "lei_information3" field length from 16 to 30 and was wondering if I can do this and how?

I am trying to extend the field length for colun lei_information 3 from 16 characters to 30 characters in the table hr_location_extra_info_lei, but cannot seem to do this. Can the length be changed and if so how?

Hi Louise,
All the "lei_informationX" columns in hr_location_extra_info table are of size VARCHAR2(150) (Oracle EBS R12).
So I understand why you're saying it's limited to 16 characters.
May it's only a question of your setup limiting it to 16 car., in which case you can easily change it to 30 by unfreezing the DFF and modifying it.

APEND the file depending upon the source field length

Dear ALL,
Scenario is IDOC to FILE(using File Content Conversion in receiver side)
*Requirement:*
Payment Id is the field from IDOC.
1st time data for the field length is 6 digit that always end with '0' that is 6th character or 6th position '0'(this for the 1st transaction in a Day)
2nd time data for the same field length is 5 digit(this is the 2nd transaction in the same day.this can be many times)
End of the day the last transaction always the same field length should be 6 digit and end of the digit always 1.when the last transaction is over then appended files should be merged and send to target folder.
All this transactions always same file and should append.
Could you please give some idea.
Note: with out BPM.

R3 TO File using file content conversion.
1st transaction to till last transaction all the file will store in local folder.As soon as the last transaction completed then the appended file file move to target folder using command line(DOS command)
Note:
all the transaction should be the same file.
File construction mode will be append.
this not merging using partner profile.

ANSI X12 EDI 850 V4010 - REF Field length Increase

Hi,
The standarad EDI V4010 definiation contains Segment:REF, Field:127, MaxLength:30 (ISA.GS.ST.REF:127), partner sending a EDI data with more than 30 characters for this field. As per their EDI guide lines the MaxLength allows upto 50 chars for this field.
Have changed the field length from 30 to 50 chars in ANSI X12 850 V4010 message structure and re-generated EDI To XML mapping.When test the mapping in BIC tool, the EDI file is getting converted to EDI XML when the field value is more than 30 chars i.e upto 50 chars. Also Tested by giving more than 50 chars value for this field and it's failed to convert in BIC mapping tool saying 'The length of the field value is too big'.
As the change working in BIC tool, generated sda file and deployed on PI QA system. While test the change after .sda file deployment the change of Field Length is not reflecting and it's only allowing upto 30 chars only., and more than 30 chars data for this field EDI files are failing.
As the change working alone in BIC tool fine and not reflecting thefield length after sds file deployment. Any ideas about this issue and how to handle this requirement.

If you see the documentation what you have given :
Parameters:
on: delimiters at the end do not appear
off: delimiters at the end appear
it clearly says the parameter is used for the delimiters, but not for truncating length of the fields in Seeburger.
I'm not sure if you've ever used the BIC Mapping tool and what I'm really looking for is someone with experience in this area to give a solution that works for this question:
By the way I have used the seeburger and this requirement we have done within XI because we have done all the rules within XI not in seeburger. But I will give a try with this requirement and will try to update you. Until unless I work with any of the issue I will not suggest. Even If I didnt I will try and then will suggest. Dont get me wrong.

EEWB field length modification error

Hi,
In our system, an EEWB project is already exist for custom fields in Quotation's product item (CI_EEW_CUSTOMER_I).
I want to change the field length of those custom fields. Thus, I run the wizard of this EEWB project and change some of the field length.
After the wizard and some of the tables are converted, following error occurs:
Task CRM_BTX_ADD_NEW_FIELDS CD3100
deleting of existing BAdI Implementation "ZEEW_CUSTOMER_I01" failed
Moreover, the EEWB icon is changed to red & broken.
How can I continue and make it back to normal?

The error is coming because EEWB does changes in the ABAP dictionary objects. Now you are not able to delete the field properly thats why you are getting the error
Once you delete the field then only you can process.
check your customizing in transaction EEWC.
Look at note 649336 to set up the customizing.

Field Length too big to display

We have a scenario where the wrong unit of measure was used and resulted in numbers that were too big to display on deliveries and reports eg 555, 000, 000, 000, 000.00. We are now changing the UOM for the affected PNs but wondered if anybody has any other solutions on how SAP can cope with displaying fields that are too large for its defined length for all the old deliveries created previously. Currently these hit run time display errors. We have already extended the field length once but need a more robust solution in case there are any more materials like this.

Extending the field length would not make the error going away. Instead it makes it easier for the user to enter wrong units and conversions. As SAP will less often dump, you will encounter your errors much later than now.

Fields Lengths (Mapping)

My cenario is: POS calls RFC enabled function module from SAP trough EAI.
So a function module Z* is called. When this function is Tested in SAP with transaction SE37 everything seems to be fine. There are one table returned and all the data is in correct fields.
But, when this function is called trough EAI data is misaligned accordingly to difference of field lengths. For example ITEMS_OUT (used in my FM) table fields DOC_NUMBER in xml has 20 characters in function module 10, and so on.
Do you have any idea? Where should be the problem? In mapping or should be a function module problem?
Example:
In xml file i get this:

I think there is only 1 solution
1) you will have to edit the XML structure so as to ristrich the field lengths to that needed by FM . As SAP will simply truncate the value if the length of the field is more than the required.
The changes can be made in SAP FM also if the altered length is valid as per the SAP data type for that certain field.

Internal note \ Vendor text in shopping cart not getting correctly saved.

We are at SRM 4.0 with extended classic.
We are facing issue with shopping cart ( BBPSC01 ) for vendor text \ internal note in " Documents and Attachments Tab" in item detail screen as below :
Suppose we enter below three lines in internal note \ Vendor text as:
XXX
AAA
CCC
They will appear as below :
XXX
AAA
AAA
CCC
CCC
Line items are getting duplicated. Please let me know how this can be resolved or if any SAP note available ?

Here is solution :
kindly apply the following notes:
1253076 No Vendor Text Exists Incorrectly Displayed
1289174 Vendor text/Internal Note is not deleted
1313904 Extra Line Breaks are added in Approval Notes
After this please republish all of the Templates with the Report
w3_publish_services.
Afterwards the Template Cache has to be invalidated with the
transaction sitspmon -> Tab "Template and Mime Cache" -> Button
"Systemwide".
If you use Proxy Server, you have to empty the cache there as well.
Furthermore the Temporary Internet Data of the Browse has to be deleted.
Retest the scenario and see if the behavior still persists.
Those note solved the issue

I am trying to send data from internal table to file format, and I have a field in internal table with 500 length (constant value always). So how do I can declare and append this field value to table?

So it will allocate space between 1, 3 and 4.

Identifying vendor text ,internal note fields

iam not able to find vendor text and internal fields can u pple just help me in dis matter.
Internal Note (TDID = NOTE) : This field appears under Document tab of the PO at Item level. The value maintained in this field needs to be concatenated with Vendor text (TDID = ITXT) field separated by ,.

If you want to concatenate texts, first of all you need to get the text first.
use read_text function module to read the text passing
Text name - PO number/vendor number and language = syst language and text id = (to get this go a head double click on the text and then go to - header ... this will give yo the this) and text object. do the same for other text and then concatenate. if this is not the one you want. Explain it clearly and dont ask users to send to your email....

Difference between Field symbols and work area for Internal tables

In ECC versions we all know that we need to declare the internal tables without headerline, and for handling the internal tables we need to use exclusive work areas.
Currently i have an issue that we have been asked to use field symbols instead of work areas...can any one help me how to use the field symbols and also let me know how it will improve the performance of the program..

Now the problem is you can't know the name of the fields of the table at runtime, so you can't write:

ENDIF.
Anyway you can create a field-symbols strcturated like the table:
[code]FIELD-SYMBOLS <WA> TYPE ITAB.
LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
IF <WA>-FIELD = .....
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP.
I don't know which are the differences for the performance between to use a field-symbol and to use a structure as work-area.
The differnce between the field-symbols and work-area is the field-symbol is assigned directly to the record, so u don't need to do a MODIFY statament to change something:
LOOP AT ITAB INTO WA.
WA-FIELD =
MODIFY ITAB FROM WA.
ENDLOOP.
LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
<WA>-FIELD =
ENDLOOP.
These two pieces of abap code do the same action, so probably the field-symbol improve the performance because it do an access directly to the record without to use an external structure as workarea.

Making the Vendor Note or Internal note field default CAPS

Hi all,
We have to make the "Vendor Text" or "Internal note" text field as default CAPS. As when a user enters any text in this feild after clicking out of that box, the text should become by default as CAPS.
We have done the same thing for " Notes for Buyer" field.
But now I am not getting the source, the internet template that defines this "note" field. I have done a left click on that screen & got the source filed but the coding is not visible, when i have checked in SM80.
Pls help me find the source template.
Is it possible that many templates are looped inside one another?

The only one more help i require is that, how we we change the text to CAPS now.
When we had changed in previous one, it was already having some other PAI defiened, but this template has no PAI defined.
