Difference in reports  Vs source system

Hi experts!!!
We have One Monthly Cube and One weekly cube...Both get data from  database source system...weekly data extraction happens one time in a week to Weekly cube and Monthly data extraction happens one time in a month to Monthly cube....Whenever lastweek in a month starts in one month and ends in next month, our last week report is not matching with months report(its YTD figure that needs to be same).I assume its because monthly extraction extracts data from 1st date to Last Date in a month whereas Weekly extraction extracts data from first day in a week to last day in a week irrespective of which month it is.
how can I do so our last week's report matches with that whole months report...I am thinking of changing the way our users post data in our source system...like whenever we notice that a week starts in present month and going to end in next month,we message users that they can post only until the last day of present month and they cannot post in the beginning of next month until the week that started in present month ends.In this way,our weekly reports will be equal to monthly reports.
I donot know if this is possible but do you have any better ideas which can be implemented either on source side or BW side?
Regards.......

Hi,
if you have month populated for every record you load into weekly Cube, and restricting the query by month when reconciling the data should resolve the issue, I think
please let me know if my understanding of the question is wrong, or you think it does not work some way.
thanks

  • One report, One Source System with multiple Company Codes -- Authorization

    Hello Guys
We have 2 DEV source systems for our BI implementation right now. one for US (CCode - 406) an one UK(CCode - 301).
We have already completed the implementation for UK with 38 reports.
we are right now moving the US implementation.
when we move to QAS we are going to have one Source system with both US and UK data.
so when we move to QAS, the US clients wants to view the reports developed in UK implementation with their own data.
How can we do that. since some reports doesn't have company code to restrict the data to respective users.
    Thanks and Kind regards,
    shekar.

    Hi
First make the company code authorization relevant in infoobject BEx explore tab
If your in BI7 , you have analysis authorization concept

    REGARDS,
    AXEL

    Hi Axel...
if yo want ot jump from a query to some R/3 report, pgm, transaction...you can use the report-report interface (RRI)...but if you want to add a field on the same screen of your query, you can go for a virtual char/KF: it's enough to add it in your cube, let it empty and fill it runtime with some ABAP lines with an RFC link to the table field you need...
pay attention to performance issues and to the consideration that this field will be empty if your RFC fails (foe unavailability of R/3 system, for example...)
Otherwise try to use a virtual cube !
    Hope it helps!

When I checked in TC WE05 says that  IDoc: 0000000000355113 Status: Error during syntax check of IDoc (outbound) with status 26 .
    Please advice .
    Many thanks

    Hi  Krishna4bi,
Actually we will monitor idoc status in BD87 in SAP BI As well ECC , while extracting the data from source sytem  if any idoc struck we will manually process in BD87 , But you are telling that while loading the datasource the error occurred , so please check once in ECC side . Otherwise see how many packets are still process, make it red that infopackage and do manually update.

what happed if I delete source system?
What's the difference between spurce system

    Hi Shen Peng
I believe you trying to delete the current R/3 source system and trying for SAP BI my self source system right?
    If yes
We can very well dete the source system
The impact would be in th efollowing ways
-- You will loose entire datasources, transfer rules and PSA related to that particular source system and it will be Major impcat on you Bi system which is not at all preferable untill unless you are really no more use of the R/3 source system and its configured with any of the bi pass clients.
Coming to BI Myself souce system : Which is purely realted to the DATA MART Loadings and its also a similar like R/3 source system connection you have to give ALEREMOTE passwords and serve ips.

    Hi
I am also facing the same problem. This happened after restoration of the original system with a copy of the production.
I am not able to get the IDOC posted in the source R3 system.
I did a debug and it failed when verifying the table, RSBASIDOC.
There appeared to be some missing records which need to be inserted.

  • Standard report which gives Record count of ODS, Cube and Source system.

    Hi-
Is there any standard report which gives the record count of ODS, Cube and Source system?
    or
If any one has ABAP program which takes care of record count pls let me know.
    Thanks in advance

I don't understand. You need to check the data loads. What for do you want a list of ODS, Cubes and sources systems?
You can use messages from process chains to monitor the data loads.
You can also use an abap program inside teh process chains to save data into a table and then an abap report to see if everything went OK.
But, thinking again, you may be able to use BW statistics to get some of the information you need. Check the help for BW statistics, it might give you an idea of what you can do.

  • Difference between Report screens vs Dynpros

    Hi All:
Could someone please tell me what is the difference between report selection screens and dynpros?
    Thanks.
    Mithun

    Hi
See the doc for Web Dynpros
    Web Dynpro ABAP
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/db22242d-0701-0010-28a2-aeaa1fefd706
Hope that the following also helps you.
Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web
applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical
development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP
    Workbench (SE80).
Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation
    effort
Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
Strict separation between layout and business data
Reuse and better maintainability by using components
The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed and the required
data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire
    application context.
Note that stateless applications are not possible.
Automatic data transport using data binding
    Automatic input check
Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
    User interface accessibility is supported
Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
    Web Dynpro Architecture
    Definition
Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the
following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
Clear separation of business logic and display logic
Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
Execution on a number of client platforms.
    Extensive platform independence of interfaces
    Structure
    Metamodel Concept
Web Dynpro provides support for developing Web representation of a business application.
You use specific tools to describe the properties of a Web Dynpro application in the form of
Web Dynpro metadata. The necessary source code is then generated automatically and
executed at runtime. In addition to the events offered by the framework, you can also define
your own events for a Web Dynpro application. However, the event handling must always be
programmed in separate source code areas which are executed automatically when the event
    is triggered at runtime.
In Web Dynpro, each user interface is always made up of the same basic elements. These
elements of the metamodel can be statically declared using Web Dynpro tools.
It is also possible to implement elements of the metamodel at runtime and to change them or
reintegrate them at runtime. Using these implementations, you can make any changes or
enhancements to a user interface that has been created by declarative methods by
generating new interface structures at runtime.
This means that you can combine declarative processes and the implementation of source
    code.
    Graphical Development Tools
To support this declarative concept, both the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and the
ABAP Workbench contain a range of Web Dynpro tools. You can therefore generate a large
proportion of a Web Dynpro application using the tools provided, without having to create your
own source code. This applies to the following parts of the application:
Data flow between the front end and back end
    Layout of the user interface
    Properties of user interface elements
The Web Dynpro tools enable you to create source text areas manually within generated
source texts. These areas are not changed if the source code is regenerated.
Separation of Business and Application Logic
Using Web Dynpro enables a clear separation of business logic and display logic. A Web
Dynpro application runs on the front end and has local or remote access to the back end
system via a service. This means that the display logic is contained in the Web Dynpro
application, while the business logic and the persistence of the business objects run in the
back end system. The following options are currently available for connecting Web Dynpro
    applications and the back-end system:
An interface generated using adaptive RFC, through which BAPIs of an SAP system
    can be called
An interface for calling Web services
    A self-generated interface
The source code required for connecting the Web Dynpro application can be generated
from a UML definition of the Web Dynpro interface. A UML definition can be imported
into the Web Dynpro tools as an XML file.
    Conversion of the Model-View-Controller
Conversion of the Model-View-Controller Programming Model
Every Web Dynpro application is structured according to the Model View Controller
    programming model:
? The model forms the interface to the back end system and thus enables the
Web Dynpro application access to data.
? The view is responsible for the representation of the data in the browser.
? The controller lies between the view and the model. The controller formats
the model data to be displayed in the view, processes the user entries made by the
user, and returns them to the model.

We have installed a BI 7.0 system recently and I am setting up the server to connect to SAP ERP.
In TA SM59 a connection to the SAP ERP has been established. The “Remote Logon” is OK, (meaning clicking it nothing happens). The “Connection Test” is OK.
According to the Best Practices paper: “B84: BI Connectivity” (B84)
    http://help.sap.com/bp_biv170/BBLibrary/documentation/B84_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc
    I have done the following:
    In TA RSA1
    1.     Choose Modeling.
    2.     Choose Source Systems.
    3.     Select SAP in the window on the right.
    4.     Choose the Context menu (right mouse click).
    5.     Choose Create.
    6.     Make the following entries:
Available destination: (The above tested connection)
Background user in source system: RFCUSER (I created the user in ERP according to step 1.4 in “B84”)
    Password for source system: *****
Background user in BI: RFCUSER (I created the user in BI according to step 1.4 in “B84”)
    Password for BI user: *****
    8.     In the dialog box Please log on as an administrator in the following screen choose Continue.
    9.     Log on to the Source System with your administrator user. Choose the correct client.
    10.     On the dialog box New Source System Connection choose Continue.
    THEN I GET THE ERROR:
    Source system already exists.
    Message no. RSAR201
What is wrong? I cannot locate any SAP notes to help on this problem.
    Best regards,
    Carsten Pold

    Hello Carsten,
just some guessing at this point...
    a)
Is the connection really new? For example, was there another system connected to that ERP, maybe with the same logical name? Or was any of the two systems copied from another system?
    b)
Authorisations issues in this process may result in strange error messages. Make sure that the admin user in step 9 really has SAP_ALL. There are a lot of complex activities that this user must be able to do (ALE management, RFC access etc.). To exclude issues with the RFCUSER users: If possible, give them SAP_ALL, too. Of course only temporarily for testing.
    c)
I normally don't use existing RFC destinations. Usually, I let the system create those, too. So maybe it makes a difference if you remove the RFC destinations on both sides and try again. In that case, you will of course have to provide the RFC details when creating the source system connection...
I hope this brings you forward a little...
    Regards,
    Christian!

  • What is difference between report programming and dialog programming?

    hi,
what is difference between report programming and dialog programming? plz provide some example code
    bye

    ABAP programming
Basically reports are used to read database and represent the results in lists.
Reports are collections of processing blocks that the system calls depending on events.
We can use reports to evaluate data from database tables.
Reports are stand alone programs and controlled by events.
A report itself never creates events
    steps in report:
    Processing the selection screen
    Reading the database
Evaluating the data and creating lists
    Outputting a list.
1st u write simple logics, after that u can enhance the code as step by step.

    http://www.sapdev.co.uk/reporting/reportinghome.htm
    Dialog Programming
    Structure of a Dialog Program
A dialog program consists of the following basic components:
    Screens (dynpros)
Each dialog in an SAP system is controlled by dynpros. A dynpro (DYnamic PROgram) consists of a screen and its flow logic and controls exactly one dialog step. The flow logic determines which processing takes place before displaying the screen (PBO-Process Before Output) and after receiving the entries the user made on the screen (PAI-Process After Input).
The screen layout fixed in the Screen Painter determines the positions of input/output fields, text fields, and graphical elements such as radio buttons and checkboxes. In addition, the Menu Painter allows to store menus, icons, pushbuttons, and function keys in one or more GUI statuses. Dynpros and GUI statuses refer to the ABAP/4 program that control the sequence of the dynpros and GUI statuses at runtime.
    ABAP/4 module pool
Each dynpro refers to exactly one ABAP/4 dialog program. Such a dialog program is also called a module pool, since it consists of interactive modules. The flow logic of a dynpro contains calls of modules from the corresponding module pool. Interactive modules called at the PBO event are used to prepare the screen template in accordance to the context, for example by setting field contents or by suppressing fields from the display that are not needed. Interactive modules called at the PAI event are used to check the user input and to trigger appropriate dialog steps, such as the update task.
All dynpros to be called from within one transaction refer to a common module pool. The dynpros of a module pool are numbered. By default, the system stores for each dynpro the dynpro to be displayed next. This dynpro sequence or chain can be linear as well as cyclic. From within a dynpro chain, you can even call another dynpro chain and, after processing it, return to the original chain.
