Different port when I restart oc4j server
Hi,
Probably a basic question ... I'm kinda new to this side of things.
I'm trying out the XML request in MapViewer with a format of PNG_URL. I got it to work correctly and return me a url with port 8888
http: //127.0.0.1:8888/mapviewer/images/omsmap6_1.gif?refresh=-228906910254702338
... which works perfectly, but if I stop and restart the oc4j server, I get the url referencing port 80
http: //127.0.0.1:80/mapviewer/images/omsmap1_2.gif?refresh=-5499825747321924789
Is there a configuation file somewhere that I need to edit?
Any help v. much appreciated.
Mary
Many thanks for reply.
Its a standalone oc4j.
I hadn't edited the file in between restarts ... I had wanted to leave the images in the default location so I wasn't editing the <save_images_at tag but you're right ... when I set it explcitly, its returning the right port. What was confusing me, is that it was returning port 8888 sometimes and port 80 on other occasions.
Anyway, its working correctly now. Many thanks again.

OHS not able to redirect to two different ports of the same managed server
Hi
I need to redirect to different ports of the same managed server (say M1, M2) based on the availability of the managed server. ie when managed server M1 is busy handling other requests i need to redirect my new request to M2. i already have this mechanism to find out which managed server is free.
so now the problem is if M2 is free how would i tell ohs to redirect it to M2 server??
M1,M2 both managed servers are hosted at host1.example.com.
M1 port - 8001
M2 port - 8003
my context root is /YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService
my mod_wl_ohs.conf is defined as:
<Location /M1/YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
PathTrim /M1
WebLogicHost host1.example.com
WebLogicPort 8001
</Location>
<Location /M2/YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
PathTrim /M2
WebLogicHost host1.example.com
WebLogicPort 8003
</Location>
when i type the url in browser as "http://<ohs_server_url>:7777/M2/YpsSupplyPlanningEngineService/supplyPlanningEngineService"
This is not working. Is there any way to do it?
Please help me here.
Thanks in advance.

[Slvd] What to restart after system upgrade? When to restart X server?
Hi all,
After a system upgrade, what should be restarted? The following actions I know about:
kernel (linux): reboot
daemon (sshd, cups, iptables, etc.): rc.d restart ...
application (fvwm, mutt, etc.): restart application
But what will require restarting X server? Can the current X server continue to run after upgrading one the following:
1. xorg-server
2. libx11 or other libraries xorg-server depends on
3. anything else?
I want to keep the system up-to-date but avoid restarting the X server to maintain my X session (>100 windows carfully spread and grouped over 22 workspaces). Unfortunately, there is no xsm anymore and, no, I don't like gnome/kde/thelike.
Thanks,
Daan

A useful command is:
lsof | grep 'DEL.*lib'
I put this line in a script called stalelibs. Helps to see which services should be restarted. Or whether I'll just take the easy option and reboot :)
This is very helpful!
Also, in the link that you sent it is explained why programs don't break when their shared libraries are removed:
Existing programs (that are already loaded) have pointers to the old version, as Naib says, in RAM as code or an inode location as a file handle to the deleted version. Once all handles are gone/programs terminated, the file will then truly be "removed" from the disk and space reclaimed. Until then you'll see shared libraries still eating disk space and RAM, despite them being removed.
This is why it's good to reboot the machine after certain upgrades such as libc, so programs like init can pick up a new copy of libc.

MyServlet.init() not called when restarting my server
Hi everyone,
I use Weblogic Server 9.1. I developed a Web Application that I packaged using the .war format. Some global settings are read from a configuration file in the init() method of a servlet called mypackage.MyServlet. In this servlet, the destroy() method is also overridden in order to release resources when servlet is dereferenced.
In order to load the settings at webapp deployment, I added the following block in file WEB-INF/web.xml :
<servlet>
<servlet-name>init</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>mypackage.MyServlet</servlet-class>
<load-on-startup>100</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
When I use the following process :
* stopping my deployment
* updating the .war using "Update" button in "Deployments" menu
* starting my deployment
... I can see in my log files that destroy() method then init() method have been called.
In the other hand, when I stop then I start the server on which my webapp is deployed (using links "Environment" then "Servers" then "Control"), only the destroy() method of my servlet is called at server stop, but not the init() method when I start the server.
- why is the init() method not executed in that case ?
- what do I have to change in order for my configuration files to be reread when I restart my server ?
Thanks for your help,
FrançoisOK, I found my answer. Here's how to do it. Following 'jitu' on Apr 10, 06
import javax.annotation.Resource;
import javax.xml.ws.handler.MessageContext;
import javax.jws.WebService;
import javax.servlet.ServletContext;
@WebService
public class Hello {
@Resource
private WebServiceContext wsc;
@WebMethod
public String setValue( @WebParam String name) {
ServletContext sc = (ServletContext) wsc.getMessageContext().get(MessageContext.SERVLET_CONTEXT);
sc.setAttribute("SharedValues", name);
}This sequence gives me my servletContext, so I can proceed with my work, but for the record I'd really like to know why I had trouble with ServiceLifecycle, and how I might have made it work. -
Power-off USB-port when O.S. restarts
I need to switch-off the power of the USB-ports when system restarts.
I have a device connected to an USB-port and it gets the power from the USB-port.
I need that, when the system restarts (a simple software restart, not a complete reboot), the device is restarted with a power-off/power-on.
I have already tried with "devcon restart *ROOT_HUB*", but the command seams that restarts the software layers not the physical power.

How to Starting and Stopping OC4J Server using Ant
How to Starting and Stopping OC4J Server using Ant
In the ant task definitions for ant-oracle-classes.jar (see antlib.xml) there are two tasks called
name="restartServer" classname="oracle.ant.taskdefs.deploy.JSR88StartServer"
name="shutdownServer" classname="oracle.ant.taskdefs.deploy.JSR88ShutdownServer"
I thought that these would shutdown and start the OC4J server. I guessed the parameters as – (Does anyone know where 50 ant targets are documented?)
<oracle:restartServer
userid="${oc4j.admin.user}"
password="${oc4j.admin.password}"
deployeruri="${deployer.uri}"
/>
<oracle:shutdownServer
userid="${oc4j.admin.user}"
password="${oc4j.admin.password}"
deployeruri="${deployer.uri}"
/>
This, however does not start and stop the SOA suite. To do that I've hacked this solution together -
<path id="oc4j.console">
<pathelement location="${oracle.home}/config"/>
<pathelement location="${oracle.home}/jlib/startupconsole.jar"/>
<pathelement location="${oracle.home}/opmn/lib/optic.jar"/>
<pathelement location="${oracle.home}/lib/xmlparserv2.jar"/>
</path>
<target name="stop" description="stop oc4j server" depends="init">
<java classname="oracle.appserver.startupconsole.view.Runner">
<classpath refid="oc4j.console"/>
<sysproperty key="ORACLE_HOME" path="${oracle.home}"/>
<arg value="stop"/>
</java>
</target>
<target name="start" description="restart oc4j server" depends="init">
<java classname="oracle.appserver.startupconsole.view.Runner">
<classpath refid="oc4j.console"/>
<sysproperty key="ORACLE_HOME" path="${oracle.home}"/>
<arg value="start"/>
</java>
</target>
This sort of works – except when the SOA suite doesn't stop cleanly – and needs user interaction to press a Close button. This isn't very useful when doing a continous integration build and deploy.
So, does anyone have any suggestions or alternative methods to do this?
- frankActually if the server throws exceptions when it stops (which it always has since we applied patch 10.1.3.3) this technique will pause until a user responds to pop-up ... So a better way (I think) is -
<target name="start" description="start oc4j server" depends="init">
<java classname="oracle.appserver.startupconsole.view.Runner">
<classpath refid="oc4j.console"/>
<sysproperty key="ORACLE_HOME" path="${oracle.home}"/>
<arg value="start"/>
</java>
</target>
<target name="stop" description="stop oc4j server" depends="init">
<echo message="We expect OC4J *NOT* to stop cleanly, so we will timeout after 3 minutes ..."/>
<java classname="oracle.appserver.startupconsole.view.Runner" fork="true" timeout="180000">
<classpath refid="oc4j.console"/>
<sysproperty key="ORACLE_HOME" path="${oracle.home}"/>
<arg value="stop"/>
</java>
</target>
<target name="restart" description="restart oc4j server">
<antcall target="stop"/>
<!-- wait for server to quieten down -->
<waitfor maxwait="2" maxwaitunit="minute">
<not><http url="http://${oc4j.http.hostname}:${oc4j.http.port}"/></not>
</waitfor>
<antcall target="start"/>
</target> -
When Essbase restart, I cannot log on EAS
Hi,
After installing and configuring EPM 11.1.1.3 (Essbase + SS), I can connect correctly on EAS.
But when I restart the server, I cannot log on EAS: "Could not connect to Administration Server".
In the log of EAS: I have this error: com.hyperion.hit.registry.exceptions.RegistryException: java.sql.SQLException: [Hyperion][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]
I suppose SS try to register after essbase restarted, but I don't understand why EAS is block.
If I restart the service manually it works.
Thank you for your help.Is this the hypservice?
We have found in system 9 if we do a reboot the services comes back but after 3 minutes the hypservice fails. It is a timing issue with the OpenLDAP service on your Shared Services box (I am assuming they are on separate boxes)
We logged a case with Oracle and tried some re-edits but to no avail. So we just keep a mental note that if the servers do reboot, to recheck the hypservice service to see if it has started

How to use the same OC4j server with different port number
How to use the same OC4j server with different port numbers..?
I have to OC4J installed on my machine on different hard disk drives....
I want to be able to run both the server simultaneously..?
is it possible ..it yes then how..?
for that i have changed the port number of one server...
but when i am trying to start the other server with different port number..it says that JVM -Bind already...
Is there any clues...?
Nilesh GIn the config directory:
default-web-site.xml: Change the port the HTTP listener listens on
jms.xml: Change the port the JMS service listens on
rmi.xml: Change the port the ORMI listener listens on.
Or, you can add another web-site.xml file, and deploy your applications to 1 server, and bind the web applications to the different web sites. This way you only have to deploy your applications to 1 place.

Problem when we created the managed server to configure different ports.
I am trying to configure different ports for admin console and my communication service as we can’t share admin port to the outside world.
So that only admin can access admin console using admin port.
And out side clients can access my webapplication using different port.
For this i have created the managed server in weblogic.and I deployed the application on managed server.
Now admin server is running on 8001 port and my Communication Service application is running on 7001 port.
But when I tried to configure MBeans related to myCommunicationServiceApplication those were disapper on admin console. And the other wlng services are appearing on admin console.
1. Since my application deployed on managed server MBeans registration happened from myapplication hence it’s disappear on admin console.
Now If I want to configure Mbeans (related to my communication service) how can I configure it?
2. My communication service using configurationStore module and other wlng services.
When I tried to start my application on managed server I got the below error:
<Apr 28, 2009 12:22:44 PM IST> <Error> <Deployer> <BEA-149231> <dscp11166.TechMahindra.com> <Unable to set the activation state to true for the application 'wlng_nt_qualcomm_active_mediation [Version=1.0]'.
com.bea.wlcp.wlng.api.storage.configuration.ConfigurationException: Configuration store module is not available.
3. I tried to target all wlngResources to manged server by editing config.xml file.
Then all wlng services disappears on admin console. If this is the case how can I configure container/account services on wlng?
I have created the Basicweblogic domain.
Below is the config.xml for reference.
"QualcommServer" is managed server name.
Can any one please suggest me how to configure this kind of scenarios?

Error when restarting admin server
I'm testing clustering with WL 6.1.
I have one machine acting as the admin server and the EJB server and a
second machine clustered with it as another EJB server. When I restart
the non-admin machine everything works flawlessly. When I restart the
admin machine the other machine shows this error:

same listen address and port.>
any clues? They are running on different machines so I don't really
know what to make of this.

Thanks, I figured it out: I was running one WL instance on one machine
that was both admin and a cluster server. I simply didn't understand

How to specify port when ssh to server
Hi all.
I have a server that I am configuring, and one of the steps I'm taking is to change the default ssh port from 22 to another port to elude the script kiddies.
When I ssh to the server in Terminal, I'm having issues connecting (while I don't using Putty in winblows).
I think it is because I'm not specifying the port correctly.
Does anyone here know the correct syntax in Terminal to specify a different port than 22?
I've used ":" and "[]", so I'm at a loss at the moment...Hi--
Does anyone here know the correct syntax in Terminal
to specify a different port than 22?
<pre class="command">ssh -p 1234 [email protected]</pre>assuming you're just doing a straight login to a command-line, has always worked for me.
By the way, if you're new to the Terminal, most of the commands you'll run in the Terminal have really good man pages. Just type:
<pre class="command">man ssh</pre>to see it.
If you know what you're looking for, it's right there in the last line of the synopsis:
<pre class="command">SYNOPSIS
ssh [-1246AaCfgkNnqsTtVvXxY] [-b bind_address] [-c cipher_spec] [-D port]
[-e escape_char] [-F configfile] [-i identity_file]
[-L port:host:hostport] [-l login_name] [-m mac_spec] [-o option]
[-p port] [-R port:host:hostport] [user@]hostname [command]
</pre>If you're not sure what you're looking for, you can often find it a bit lower down. Unfortunately, in the case of ssh, it has a long man page, so you have to go quite a bit further down to find it:
<pre class="command"> -p port
Port to connect to on the remote host. This can be specified on
a per-host basis in the configuration file.</pre>

Different error when starting Lite Server
I have managed to get Oracle Lite 10g_2 installed...
However, when I try to start it, I get a message:
Mobile Server ID not found, Failed to register.
I am using Oracle Express Edition for the repository, on the same machine.
Parameters are localhost, 1521, XE when I installed.
Can anybody give me a hint of how to fix this?
Also, I can't seem to log in.
I use the default user name Administrator/Admin and I get:
WTG-10143: You do not have Administrator privileges to logon to the System
Note, this is my first experience with Oracle so I apologize if
the question is silly.
Thank you.
-MikeI will have to install XE on my own system and test it out. Here is the recommended solution for configurations with Oracle.
Check to see if the schema MOBILEADMIN was created. If so, check the mobileserver_instances table for information about mobileserver.
Symptoms
The problem is that when using the MOBILE SERVER 10.2.0.1.0 in order to oracle lite
by doing the following :
- Install Mobile server inside OAS
- Start it.
it fails with the following error :
: Mobile Server ID not found, Failed to register.
- This happens with those versions :
mobile Server 10G R2
Cause
The Mobile server Repository (schema mobileadmin was not created properly)
The table mobileadmin.mobileserver_instances does not have any information about the mobileserver.
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1.Stop OAS
2. drop the mobileadmin schema using:
drop user mobileadmin cascade;
3. Recreate the repository using: c:\ORACLE_HOME\mobile\server\admin\repwizard.bat
(check that there are not any special Error into the repository.log)
4. restart OAS -
Deployed Files getting overwritten every time when I do a server restart
Hi,
I have deployed a web application in weblogic server. For testing purpose, instead of placing the changed file inside the war our team will change the files directly in the deployed area. Once when we restart the application server, the new files are getting overwritten with the old one. Is there any setting with which we can stop the weblogic server deploying the old war file again?Hi,
I am stopping and restarting the weblogic server through startManagedWeblogic.sh script. I am not using the weblogic console. Some of our application developers directly drag and drop the Units in the Deployed Area for testing Purpose. Even with nostage mode the war file in the upload folder is getting redeployed at the time of server restart.
