Diffrence b/w sync & async mode in bdc.

hi all,
wat is the diffrence b/w sync & async mode in bdc? plz explain interview point of view.

A Asynchronous updating. In this mode, the called transaction does not wait for any updates it produces to be completed. It simply passes the updates to the SAP update service. Asynchronous processing therefore usually results in faster execution of your data transfer program.
S Synchronous updating. In this mode, the called transaction waits for any updates that it produces to be completed. Execution is slower than with asynchronous updating because called transactions wait for updating to be completed. However, the called transaction is able to return any update error message that occurs to your program. It is much easier for you to analyze and recover from errors
one simple example : You are creating sales order from file and also you want to update header text of sales order.
when you want to update sales order header text, you need to use save_text function module ,here you need to pass sales order number.
when you use call transaction update 'A', data will update transaction level and it goes to the next record, here it will not wait for database .
when you use call transaction update 'S',data will update transaction level and it will update database then it goes next record.
if you want to update header text, then you need to use sync update
database commit -
comitt work - it will update data in database sucessfully
roll back - it will not update in database.

  • Sync/Async communication in JMS adapter without BPM

    Hi,
as of SP19 XI's JMS adapter offers this new feature for Sync/Async communication through JMS Adapter modules instead of using a BPE.
Now I would be interested to know if anybody has already successfully used this feature especially using WebSphere MQ as a JMS Provider (preferredly in the mode JMS Compliant: WebSphere MQ (non-JMS)).
I experienced some issues with the XI Message ID being used as the JMS Correlation ID which is then mapped to the MQ Correlation ID being truncated after 24 characters. So I don't exactly know whether this is due to wrong setup or some general issues with this messaging system.
Please let me know if you have any experiences at all with this new feature (please do not just post links to the following blogs, which I have thoroughly studied as well as the How-to Guide concerning this topic)

    Hi Peter,
we working on the same Problem. Using IBM Websphere MQ as JMS Provider for the new feature: sync/async bridge without BPE.
we switched on a high level trace for the adapter framework and saw a problem in the receiving Object of the JMS correlation id. The notify bean receives the JMS correlationid in hex format. so the beans have two different correlations, which could not find together.
did you have any solution to get this new feature works with IBM Websphere ?

  • Sync/Async brdige error in BPM

    Hi,
I am working on RFC-TO-Webservice scenario(Synchronous) and I am using the BPM in this scenario.
In BPM just I have used 2 steps.
    Receive - Opened Sync/Async bridge
    Send - Synchrouns step
Send - Cloase the Receive step
Send - Asynchrous send step (to send the response to the file...).
When I sent my RFC message from R/3 I am getting following error.

  • BPM - Receive Sync/ASync Bridge Problem

    Hi,
I am creating a scenario for an inbound Synch request to be serviced by a BPM process.
Here is the problem that I am facing while trying to configure the Receive Step
    - I created a Message Interface defined as Abstract Synchronous.
    - I created a process model and put in a Receive Step: Mode - Opens S/A Bridge, Synchronous Interface - defined as above.
    - I define a container with Abstract type. But when I try to locate the above defined Abstract Synch message interface, I cannot find it.
    - As a workaround, I create another Abstract Message Interface defined as Abstract ASynch.
    - I create a container with this Abstract ASynch message type.
    - I use this container in the Receive Step.
But activating the Business Process gives the error:
Message to be received and Synchronous Interface do not have identical types.
Can someone give me the correct procedure to configure the Sync / ASync Bridge ? thanks,
    -Manish

  • Sync Async without BPM and JMS.

    Hi Guys,
Searched SDN a lot but in vain...
i have soap(Sync) to File(Async) synario...Soap response can have like this "PI system received message"..
How can i, with out BPM?
    Thanks
    Prabhakar

i have soap(Sync) to File(Async) synario...Soap response can have like this "PI system received message"..
If the SOAP is mandatorily working in SYNC mode then the above solution wont work (SOAP --> XI --> SOAP)....this will be treated as two different calls for the SOAP and the solution would have worked for ASYNC flow.
Why do you need PI system received message .... if i send a SOAP message and if it is successfully send from the SOAP application then I would get a 200 OK message which would indicate that everything was fine till sending the message to the XI/ PI system.
If SYNC communication is needed then implement a BPM with a SYNC-ASYNC bridge.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • File based Sync-Async Bridge

    Hi All,
I have a scenario where a file is available in a shared folder.
This file needs to be picked by a RFC Function module called in a Synchronous mode and the contents of the file needs to be displayed as the output of this RFC.
Is this achievable using Sync-Async Bridge. If so can someone explain me the steps to achieve the same?

If i were to open a Sync-Async bridge, I need to do the following
Step 1: Receive step to open the sync/async bridge
    Step 2:Asynchronous send step
    Step 3:Receive step
Step 4: Send step to close the sync/async bridge
    In my scenario.
Step 1: Receive the RFC's request message
    Step 2: ????
Step 3: Get the message from the file
Step 4: Transform the file's message to RFC's response message
Step 5: Send the RFC's response message
Moreover file adapter works in a polling mechanism..

  • Async-Sync-Async Bridge Without BPM

    HI Folks,
    I have a requirement as
u201CAn Asynchronous SOAP request is triggered to PI and then should get records from a (JDBC)database and write the result to a fileu201D
It is of Aync-Sync-Async Bridge and i have to do without BPM
I know by using some module parameters at sender communication channel we can do this.
    But my query
1)Is that for SOAP sender communication channel can we provide the same module parameters
    Number - ModuleName - Type - ModuleKey
    1- AF_Modules/RequestResponseBean - Local Enterprise Bean - 1
    2- CallSapAdapter-Local Enterprise Bean - 2
    3-AF_Modules/ResponseOnewayBean-3
    Parameters
    ModuleKey - ParameterName - ParameterValue
    1 - passThrough - true
3-receiverChannel - Receiver File Adapter Name
    3-receiverService - Receiver Business Service/ System
    2) Does the SOAP support the without BPM scenarios
3)Scenario is like Soap --> JDBC -->File (Async - Sync - Async) and how abt for Soap --> RFC -->File (Async - Sync - Async)
    Thanks in Advance
    Lemon

For your requirement , you can handle this scenario without BPM in two ways.
    1) Async sync bridge without BPM.   You are going to use request response bean and one way response bean module to achieve this. very simple. See this [link|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/File-RFC-File(Without%20BPM)]
In the sender SOAP channel you have to configure first request response bean, second callsapadapter and third onewayresponse bean. Refer this link. Simply follow file sender configuration for your soap sender or RFC sender.
Note: one receiver agreement , one receiver determination, one interface determination. only two receiver channels one jdbc and one file.
    2) You can create SOAP  to File asynchronous.  Using quality of service  EO and creating service interface asynchronous mode.   In the mapping area do JDBC lookup.  If your version is 7.1 then this lookup is available. This is pretty simple no need to do async to sync pattern.
    Hope that helps.

  • Sync/Async communication with JMS Receiver

    Hi all,
I am working on one Sync/Async model without BPM. Sender is  RFC which is expecting some response, but we know receiver jms doesnt support response message directly. For this i used modules provided by SAP.
While developing interface i used below objects.
One Outbound Synchronous interface--> for Sender RFC channel
Inbound Synchronous Interface----->for Receiver JMS Channel
outbound asynchronous interface--->for Sender JMS channel
one request mapping and one response mapping
Operational mapping between outbound Synchronous to inbound synchronous.
    ID Objects:
2 sender agreements: one with sender jms channel
                                         one with sender rfc channel
1 receiver agreement: with jms receiver channel
    1 receiver determination
    1 interface determination
In receiver jms and sender jms channels i used modules as specified in the document http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/45/20d2b4c20a0732e10000000a155369/content.htm
But my interface is not working end to end successfully.
    Please confirm below points
1)do i need to have other external application put response message to response queue or will the MQ automatically generates the response message and put into response queue
2)In receiver jms channel is it ok if i will put response queue(Q2) name in the field JMS ReplyTo Queue Name or do i need to put in the form queue://<ReplyToQMgr>/<ReplyToQ>
3). what is the format of data type for asynchronous outbound interface which i used for sender agreement of jms sender channel.
4). Do i need to do any other special settings at MQ settings in MQ server.
Note: i am using PI7.1 and i selected the option JMS-compliant for target client in jms channels.
    Thanks,
    Madhu

1)do i need to have other external application put response message to response queue or will the MQ automatically generates the response message and put into response queue
The following information is available in SAP note-
Message correlation implies correlating a response message with a request message. With respect to the JMS adapter, this means that you sent have sent a message through a JMS receiver channel to some JMS queue (say queueA) , some external application processes this message and puts the response onto another JMS queue(say queueB) which is then picked up by a JMS sender channel. You need to relate this response message with the original request message.
In the simple case, for all JMS compliant providers this can be done in a straightforward manner:
    a) In the JMS receiver channel configuration, set the JMSCorrelationID to the XIMessageID. (or some other XI header which is applicable)
    b) Ensure that your external application does not change the value of the JMSCorrelation
    c) In the JMS sender channel configuration, set the XIConversationID to the JMSCorrelationID
    d) The XIConversationID header of the response XI message now contains the XIMessageID of the request XI message.
For some providers such as Websphere MQ in legacy/native mode this is not so straightforward.
Do i need to do any other special settings at MQ settings in MQ server.
If your using Websphere MQ, refer que#4 in sap note :1086303

  • . Why we use Sync-Async bridge? .

    Why we use Sync-Async bridge?

    Dear Manoj,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/c5633c3a892251e10000000a114084/content.htm
A distinction is made between synchronous and asynchronous communication for both imported interfaces and message interfaces.  You define the mode of communication when you define an interface:
    ·        In the case of synchronous communication, a response message is expected from the receiver after a request has been sent. Once the request message has been sent, no further messages can be sent until the response to the request has arrived back at the sender system.
    ·        However, in asynchronous communication a (immediate) response is not expected. A sending process can send multiple messages to a receiver in a bundle and then continue executing the process.
You would use Synch - Asynch Bridge to enable the communication between a synchronously calling business system (synchronous outbound interface) and an asynchronously called business system (asynchronous inbound and outbound interface), you can define a sync/async bridge in an integration process. You can only define one sync/async bridge for each integration process.

    Naveen.

  • DataGuard... SYNC/ASYNC

I m studying dataguard, but I m having confusion in parameter SYNC, ASYNC, AFFIRM, NOAFFIRM. Please explain how these parameters affect the Primary/Standby Databases.

    HI,
SYNC, ASYNC,AFFIRM, NOAFFIRMthese are basically used in which mode your standby is running.
In maximum protection & availibilty mode the logs from Primary DB are shipped synchronously and shipped to standby.
    lgwr writes it synchronously .
In Maximum performance mode asynchronously logs ar shipped by archiver or lgwr.(asynch. only if lgwr).

  • What is the diffrence between ASCII and BIN mode

    Hello All,
What is the diffrence between ASCII and BIN mode
    Regards,
    Lisa.

    'ASC' :
ASCII format. The table is transferred as text. The conversion exits are
carried out. The output format additionally depends on the parameters
    CODEPAGE, TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS, and TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS_EOL.
    'IBM' :
ASCII format with IBM codepage conversion (DOS). This format correspond
to the 'ASC' format when using target codepage 1103. This codepage is
often used for data exchange by disc.
    'DAT' :
Column-by-column transfer. With this format, the data is transferred as
with ASC text. However, no conversion exists are carried out and the
columns are separated by tab characters. This format creates files that
can be uploaded again with gui_upload or ws_upload.
    'DBF' :
The data is downloaded in dBase format. Because in this format the file
types of the individual columns are included, import problems, for
example, into Microsoft Excel can be avoided, especially when
    interpreting numeric values.
    'WK1' :
The data is downloaded in Lotus 1-2-3 format.
    'BIN' :
Binary format. The data is transferred in binary format. There is no
formatting and no codepage conversion. The data is interpreted row by
row and not formatted in columns. Specify the length of the data in
parameter BIN_FILESIZE. The table should consist of a column of type X,
because especially in Unicode systems the conversion of structured data
into binary data leads to errors.

  • Dynamic configuration in Sync/Async bridge in JMS

    Hi
    Scenario:
Portal sending request to JMS MQ and getting Response using sync/Async Bridge.
I have to written a UDF which will capture the value for cust_uid from request mapping and store it in dynamic configuration
And when the response comes from JMS MQu2026.this value gets populated in response mapping.
I have tested the UDF in a dummy Soap2rfc scenario and its working fine.
But when used in Sync/Async Bridge, the dynamic configuration  fails.
For Sync/Async Bridge, there are 2 channels 1) Sender JMS 2) receiver JMS.
The synchronous request is converted to an asynchronous request in the module processor and sent.
The asynchronous system sends a response to a sender adapter. In the module processor of the sender adapter, this response is forwarded to the module processor of the original receiver adapter, where it is sent as a synchronous response of the waiting synchronous request.
    Please  suggest
    Regards
    Abhijit

    Hi Abhijit,
Okay, so your data extraction/insertion is working fine for a simple synchronous request responser call.
I suppose this is working fine because your receiver adapter copies some part of the request message (at least the dc header) to the response message. (But I don't think this always works for all the adapter types). It is not working for the sync-async bridge because there are two unrelated messages in this case.
In order to copy the dc header from the first message to the second message, I think you can use the DynamicConfiguraitionBean module to store the dc header value in the module data and use this module again to recover it and set it to the second message. The whole process is somewhat complicated, but I will sketch the approach below.
First, let's call the first use of DCB the store step and the second the recover step. These store and recover steps must take place in the same module sequence so that they can use the module data to pass data from the first message to the second message. Furthermore, the store step must occur after the cust_id value is extracted into the dc header. So, your configuration must be placed in the receiver adapter side. Assuming the request message with the filled dc header coming into the module sequence, the first DCB module can be placed before the ROB module to store the dc header value in the module data. And the second DCB module can be placed after the WRB module to recover the dc header value from the module data and set it the dc header of the response message.
    I hope this will work.

  • Getting Time-Out Error in Sync-Async Bridge

    Hi All,
My IP has a Sync-Async Bridge. I have a fork, two senders, two switchs and a transformation step inside the bridge.
If XI takes much time to process the IP, the send step that closes sync-async bridge is not waiting for the message after a particular period and throws time out error to the sender.
Is it possible to increase the waiting time for sync-async bridge?
This IP works correctly 8 out of 10 times. Sometimes the message is sitting permenantly in the queue(smq2) and gives me system failure error.
Can u tell me why this problem happening?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Senthil.

    Dear Michal/Senthil,
Can you pl clear a confusion that i have had for ages...
suppose there is a sync/async bridge ( i understand that it is used for sync business system too async BS communcation )
    where we have 4 steps
sync receive - > async send -> async receive -> sync send..
i do understand that async send and async receive are combined through correlation
but i do not understand how do they work..
i mean when async send say send a file to a target system...does async receive reads a file from the same folder based on the corelation or wat...
basically can you pls explain me how do the steps 2 and 3 above work

  • Need help with Sync/Async BPM Scenario

I have an R/3 RFC -> XI -> HTTP (to vendor A) scenario that is working fine.  It is a totally synchronous call event.  The Integration Directory pieces sit in a scenario named HotkeyOutbound.
Now I need to create a process for RFC -> XI -> HTTP (to vendor Panduit).  The R/3 RFC is the same sender, but vendor Panduit only supports an asynchronous HTTP connection.  I followed the Sriram Vasudevan weblog on Sync/Async Bridge and created my BPM.  I am stuck on trying to determine what to set up in the Integration Directory.
First off, should I be able to use the same HotkeyOutbound scenario as with vendor A so all hotkey stuff can stay together?  Or do I have to create a new scenario with a copy of the R/3 business system for the sender?  I moved forward with a new scenario (PanduitHotkeyOutbound).
I also need to know how many config Agreements and Determinations to use.  The image at http://webpages.charter.net/kpwendel/keith1.html shows what I have so far.  Which are not needed?  What is missing?
And I tried setting up an HTTP communication channel for outbound async to vendor Panduit and another for inbound async from vendor Panduit.  XI won't let me set up a sender HTTP channel.  Why not?
    Thank you in advance.

I have yet to figure this out, and probably need to go back to my Integration Repository setup since my problems may start there.  This screenshot shows my Repository objects.

HELP!  These are the steps I took, with questions embedded.
    (1) Created data type and message type for xml document (note that same format is used for request and reply).
    (2) Created PANRequestAbstractInterfaceSync (abstract and sync) for first part of Integration Process.  Should the input message be the RFC or XML message type?
    (3) Created PANRequestAbstractInterfaceAsync (abstract and async) for 2nd part of Integration Process.
    (4) Created PANResponseToBPM_MessageInterface (outbound async) for interface back into XI from partner. Is this needed?
    (5) Created PANHotkeySync_to_Async_IntProc Integration Process to handle sync to async bridge.
    - Wondering why PANRequestAbstractInterfaceAsync is the only message interface available when I make container object (PANMessage)?
    (6) Created two Message Mappings to handle RFC data to XML mappings (outbound RFC-> XML and inbound XML -> RFC).
    (7) Created Interface Mapping that includes both the Request and Response message mapping programs from step six.  Source is the RFC and Target is PANRequestAbstractInterfaceSync.
    - Do I need another interface mapping with Source being PANRequestAbstractInterfaceAsync and Target being the RFC?
