Digital CAC signature

I love every one of my APPLE products and since I "converted" completely over 2 years ago, myself, 5 teenage/adult children are all Apple "runners" exclusively. We own 2 iMac's the (third got smashed for the reason listed...), we also have 7x iphone4, 2x Mac Book Air, 1x Apple TV, 1x Time Capsule, 3x iPad's, and 5 various iPods.  For the most part there is perfect harmony however, we are a very large military involved family. With more than half of us either directly or indirectly involved at some point dealing with the Army and all its "wisdom" and its endless forms and web sites.  The conversion of a certain family member has been the most difficult because he is less patient and has the most pressure from the higher echelons to have things done in a timely manner. It has been horrible to see such frustration with myself and the other un-named individual if the form can not be loaded, read, filled or DIGITALLY SIGNED this is a huge problem people with rank do not care for excuses that my APPLE could not do it! How does that make such a great product look to others that have serious rank and money that may not be running such great products of there own. Would it not be better to say Yes Sir, and have the mission accomplished within minutes? Rather than "AHHH Sir, UMMMM I need to find a... one of those annoying, window popping..." You get my point!  After spending several hours researching the problem I have come to the conclusion that at this time it is NOT possible to digitally sign military documents even though my CAC reads my card and my certificates are allowing me access to the web sites that I need. Of course this would not have anything to do with politics and money but when, why and how can this problem be fixed for us individuals who are intelligent enough to realize that Apple products are the best but deal with the military and all they're wisdom. It infuriates me that I have to drive on post to hopefully find a system that I can access at anytime day or night just to DIGITALLY SIGN the form that they need NOW!?

Wrong place to vent.   If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
Alternatively, File a bug report with Apple.via feedback. However, you get no response from Apple and that meanders through marketing and other esoteric pathways before getting to the engineers, if ever.

  • Digitally Verified Signature Fields After Saving

I am using Acrobat 9. I am creating a PDF with a whole slew of editable fields. Once the PDF is done I need to be able to email it to several people who need to be able to fill it out and save it (so that they can upload it to a website for me). I have figured this part of it out thanks to someone else asking the same question. HOWEVER... when I save it as "Extend Form Fill-In and Save In Adobe Reader" and email it to my co-worker she is able to open the doc and edit the fields and save it... all except for the Verified Signature Fields, which are VERY important to this particular doc as it is a contract.
Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas? I'm in a pickle and needing to get this doc done very soon. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. I remember getting a prompt to add the password after certain actions so that is why I thought it could be the same with the printing if the option had not been disabled.
From my point of view, I set security options for others not to be able to modify/do certain actions on my doc, but I would expect I would continue being able to do so...this way securing a document is also limiting myself as the author of the document.
Of course the inconvenience prior to signing turns into impossibility when digitally signed as you say...
I can cope with an inconvenience as I understand the way it has been thought (similar to when you protect an excel sheet or anything similar) but I also think it would be useful to find an alternative solution seeing the constraints added when the doc is signed. Printing out a document does not modify the original document...so it should be allowed (of course, in order to ascertain its validity, the printed copy would need to be checked against the digitally signed one (similar to what we need to do if we copy a document in paper...it needs to be checked against the original or even get attested).
    Thanks again!

  • Possible to validate data entries during Digital Signature?

I have a form that was built from scratch using Adobe LiveCycle  Designer ES 8.2. I also have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3.2. (WinXP)
I  see numerous articles online related to validating user input prior to  data submission for an online form via a Submit button, however, I  am trying to figure out how to implement the same sort of data  validation during the signing of a particular digital signature field in an offline pdf form. Simply, I want to perform data validation during a digital  signature instead of when user presses Submit button.
    Here's my  use-case:
    1. Form Originator fills out a large number of data fields  and signs form via a CAC cert.
    2. Another person will review,  possibly edit/add data, and sign another signature block with CAC.
    3.  Then there is one more final CAC signature on the form before it is  completed and then emailed to the right folks for processing.
    4. I  would like to be able to enforce the population of several Mandatory  data fields (at least one Radio button and one text input, possibly  others) before the 3rd signature can be applied to the document.
Again, I  need to emphasize this is all happening in an offline form, no data  submission or database back-end. Also, everything with the digital  signatures (and locking up fields afterword) works totally fine, just interested  in adding Data Validation capability during Digital Signature.
I am in no way a javascript expert, but I can  probably learn from a good example. Any help or guidance is very much appreciated. Thanks...

If you are using SignatureField in the form then you will get two events preSign and postSign which you can use to validate the field input just like you do with a Submit button.
    Thanks

  • Use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature?

    Dear all,
I am looking to setup the use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature. We SSO to the backened ABAP AS via an SAP NW Portal to which SPNEgo kerberos authentication is setup. Today we specify R3 user id/password to digitally approvae a lot release. The idea is to have users maintain one AD password and don't have to remember the R/3 password anymore and also our Security team to avoid password maintenance.
I know there are 3 options for digital signature and
System signature with authorization by user ID and password (We use this currently)
Digital User signature with verification - (We would like to use this with AD userid/password, so the system still ask the users their AD userid/password for the authentication when they try to "sign" a document.)
    User signature without verification
Do you think there is a way to configure the system in order to ask and check the active directory userid/password instead of SAP R/3 password? Where can I found documentation about it ?
I have several different versions of AS ABAP starting from NW 7.02 to NW 7.31.
My active directory is based on Windows 2008.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Dhee

Actually enabling Kerberos for SSO purposes and enabling Kerberos for digital signatures are two different topics although the latter is because of the former. I'm interested in the topic as well and I'm currently looking at different options. SAP provides a BAdI for the digital signature API which can be used for external authentication but they do not provide the solution to invoke Kerberos authentication based on username and password. SAP provides a semi solution with NWSSO 2.0 SP2 which works only on Windows with classic dynpros meaning SAP GUI for Windows is assumed. The solution is based on an ActiveX component which does the actual Kerberos authentication using the Secure Login Client which is part of the NWSSO suite. Extending that implementation to non-Windows and non-GUI applications would require some sort of web enabled service that could be used to authenticate the user with username and password. In case authentication is successful, a Kerberos token would be returned to SAP which would then be validated. All the required pieces are there since SAP has Kerberos support now in both stacks of the NetWeaver Application Server, some bits are still missing though which leaves customers looking at 3rd party or custom solutions.

  • Multiple Digital Signatures in Adobe Acrobat XI - PDF locks after first signature is saved

I am working with a fillable pdf that was set up by an administrator to have multiple DIGITAL ID/SIGNATURES inputted, i.e. it does not allow images of signatures or text; when you click on the signature field, it ONLY prompts the insertion of a Digital ID. This form requires multiple signatures and editing/text from diverse people. I need to sign it and then circulate it to these other people. For some reason, when I insert the first digital ID and save it, the pdf becomes locked - it is no longer fillable, and no one else can edit or even insert their own signatures. What can I do to allow editing/additional signatures to be inputted after putting in my signature and saving the document? PLEASE HELP.

I don't know where I could post it...Could you please tell me how I might check if signature fields are set to "read only" or not? I have been looking through this pdf for so long and I don't even see the option to do that. When I click on the signature field, it just prompts me to insert the digital signature...there isn't much information displayed at all.

  • Programmatically Accessing Self Sign in Plug in for Digital Signature

    Hello There,
We are looking forward to use “Adode Acrobat 9 Pro – Self Sign in Plug in” for one of the application to digitally sign PDF document i.e. appending signature to existing PDF document. We have gone through Adobe site (http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/download/attachments/52658564/samplesignatures.pdf?version=1 ; http://www.adobe.com/ap/epaper/tips/acrsignatures/ ) and explored “Tips and Techniques” along with screenshots.
We would like your help on following queries:
    ·         Can we programmatically from C#.NET access Adobe Object and create certificate for digital signature? If Yes, can you please provide pointers, references and sample code snippets? [We understand that we do not need to purchase SDK as Professional would be sufficient for digital PDF signature]
    ·         Does Adobe Pro installer provide DLL which can be leveraged in Code base i.e. C#.NET?
    ·         How does certificate management work for digital signing? Can third party like verisign, local computer / certificate from organization server work for digital PDF signature?
    ·         Please provide Technical Reference manual to use Adobe from C#.NET
    ·         Can you please throw some light and pointers on Licensing and Cost?
We are running on a deadline hence your quick help and response will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Digital or Digitized Signatures

    Hey -
Doing some research, as we're looking into having digital/electronic signatures perhaps for documents that require multiple signatures within the company - save money/etc.
Has anyone ever looked into or discovered products that will also allow a signature to appear on a Purchase Order generated (or RFQ or Blankets) within Oracle prior to printing? We are hopefully soon looking at not printing and faxing, so I am tasked to see what the possibilities are.
Any help would be great! Kind of on my own for this one...and can't get clear answer from signage suppliers.

  • Digital Signature :- Changing contents in Original and revoking Diital Sign

    Hi
We have a requirement as follows
    1) There are 4 approval levels for a status A2 (Approval 2)
    2) Levels are S1, S2, S3, S4 where S4 is the Program Director who finally releases the status
    3) Initially S1 wud approve, then S2, then S3 and so on. Finally S4 would sign digitally ( after signatures from S1, S2 and S3 ) to complete the Digital Signature process.
    4) I have created release strategies and everything is working fine.
    5) Now consider this
    a) Approver S3 found that the Document needs to be changed, he want to edit the document and sign it.
But since we are using Digital Signature , the status is locked and orginal cannot be edited. How can we do this then..
    b) Approver S3 want to cancel the Digital Signature process and return to old status A1.
Here I tried to cancel the "Signature process" but old signatures of S1 , S2 was not canceled and the Document status was not reverted to A1 (old Status). Only thing happened was that the process was terminated and again when I open the DIR its asking signature from S3 only ( it should ask from S1 and S2 ideally, I believe)
    Please guide.
    Regards
    Aby

    Aby,
You are actually trying to find a technical solution for a business process issue. I suggest that you first set the business processes right, before trying to resolve it technically.
Once you have decided that S4 will finally sign off using a digital signature, if somebody further down in the loop wants to change the document, definitely it should lead to the creation of a new version of the same document and it should follow the same S1,S2,S3,S4 route.
    Hope this clarifies,
    Sojan

  • Can Acrobat auto populate a date field upon digital signature of a form?

We use several fillable forms with digital ID signature fields.  A business rule requires a date field next to the signature field.  Is it possible to define the date field to auto populate once the user signs the form?  I can't check this in Acrobat since I only have the reader.

    Hi,
The short answer is yes, but of course you'll need to get Acrobat to edit the PDF file.
Generically, here is what  you are looking to do:
Open the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    Select the Signed tab
Select the This script executes when the field is signed radio button
    Click the Edit button
Add the code snippet below to the JavaScript editor
Click the OK button on the JavaScript editor
Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
// JavaScript code to add the date at signing time
        var currentTime = new Date()
        var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1
        var day = currentTime.getDate()
        var year = currentTime.getFullYear()
var signingTime = day +"/"+month+"/"+year  //Modify into your preferred format
var f = this.getField("Text1");  //Modify the field name as necessary
        f.value = signingTime;
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • Stuck in digital signature mode

When click to place a signature it gives me cursor to draw a box to place a digital verified signature option and not the normal signature option. How do I switch this back to normal signatures (aka drawing my signature in a box, or having the computer draw it for me)? Thanks

  • Lock digital signature to prevent scanning

Hi, is there a way to lock an electronic signature to prevent someone else from scanning or copying it as with signatures on checks or perscription papers?

If you use the digital ID signature, the image could be copied but not the digital certificate.
There are international, national and state laws governing the use of electronic signatures.

  • Adding multiple signatures in one interactive form

Hi, I'm creating an insertion form for a client. THey have one area under credit card info that has a signature line, and another spot at the bottom of the form that has another field for a signature.
When I bring the PDF into acrobat Pro and do the form wizard, it only makes one of these boxes have the red tag/signature look to insert a digital signature. My clients wants both signature boxes to have this feature.
I can not figure out how to do this. please help.

After you've added the form fields, including the signature fields and have the form working like it should, it needs to be Reader-enabled in Acrobat. How this is done depends on which version of Acrobat you're using. This thread has more information: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4896660
This enabling really should be done by your client with their licensed version of Acrobat Pro, not yours. It's an Acrobat licensing issue, actually several issues.
In any case, the resulting file is a PDF, the same as what you're working with now.
Another thing to consider is that if the form is intended to be used by the general public, most won't have any experience with using digital signatures. An alternative is to use Adobe's new EchoSign service, which does not use digital signature fields but instead uses an electronic signature (e-sig) process which does not rely on the form being Reader-enabled, so there are no Acrobat licensing issues. But there is a fee associated with the EchoSign service. Digital/Electronic signatures are not free.
Then there are legal issues that need to be considered. EchoSign may have an advantage here, at least over the use of self-signed certificates as are most commonly used with digital signature fields. Even if I knew more details about the form and intended workflow, I can't provide you any specific advice about this.
