Dimension loading-Type 2  with a sequence in source

Hi all,
I have a table (staging) and its primary key is populated by a sequence defined in OWB.
This table is used as a source for the Dimension-Type 2 SCD.
Dimension and Mapping to populate it were deployed fine and the initial set of rows were populated to the dim table.
Now,
with a change in the values of the Source table (those coresponding to triggering columns in Dim)....I have executed the mapping and not able to see SCD behaviour as epected
just I gave it a try by inserting a
new row manually(without sequence for primary...I have inserted a manually) in staging,executed it--->got one row in target as expected
Changed the triggering col values ----->I can see the SCD behaviour.
Why is this happening?
Are the sequences that I defined for staging table avoiding to load the Type2 dimension?
Could you please help!Its very urgent issue.
Thanks
Sridh

Hi All,
I have found the problem...
Sequence is not the culprit...In the staging table properties,the Match by constraint option is by default set to 'ALL_CONSTARINTS'...i have reset to 'NO_CONSTRAINTS' and the dimension is loading fine...
Thanks

  • SCD 2 Dimension Load is Inserting with every load..

    Hi,
    We are using OWB Client 10.2.0.3.33 and OWB repository 10.2.0.3.0.
    We are trying to load the customer dimension (SCD 2), but with every load a new record is getting inserted into the dimension even if no change is being made to the trigger history columns.
    Is it a bug? Can any one provide any insights into this.

    Hi Jörg,
    The same mapping is working fine in the development environment but its working differently in Test and Production. So, I have checked the nls_lang settings and now both the source system and repository have the same nls_language setting, but still the problem is present.
    Can you please suggest any thing else to look for?

  • Load fact table with null dimension keys

    Dear All,
    We have OWB 10g R2 and ROLAP star schema. In our source system some rows don’t have all attributes populated with values (null value), and this empty attributes are dimension (business) keys in star schema. Is it possible to load fact table with such rows (some dimension keys are null) in the OWB mappings? We use cube operator in mappings.
    Thanks And Regards
    Miran

    The dimension should have a row indicating UNKNOWN, this will have a business key outside of the normal range e.g. -999999.
    In the mapping the missing business keys can then be NVL'd to -999999.
    Cheers

  • Can't use Data type created with External Definition

    Hi,
    In the repository, I would like to transport a very complexe DataType from one XI system to an other one. As I don't want to spend a week to create data types, I created a new External Definitions and loaded my XSD schema (that I exported as XSD from Source system) with Messages parameter set to "From All Available Global Elements". I don't set the "Source". I can see the "Imported Document" and "WSDL", but the Messages and External References tabs are empty. Furthermore, I can't use my new message type in a Outbound Asyncrhronous Message Interface.

    Thanks, Davy

    Hello Moorthy,
    My XSD is correct since it's XI itself that generated it from real Data Type on my source System (but I tested it in Internet Explorer and it looks fine).
    I tried to select my ExternalDefinition as source in MessageMapping, but XI doesn't let me specify it (Apply button is disabled when I select my ExternalDefinition).
    I'm pretty sure that it is related to the fact that I should have a Data Type in "Messages" and "External References" tabs and I have nothing. My XSD is legal, but it seems that XI can't automatically create the data type from it.
    Do you have any other idea?
    Thanks, Davy

  • Dimension out of synch with relational table

    Hi Gurus,
    We have an issue of Dimension Loading in OWB10grel2.
    My Dimension DPROD Details are as below..
    Storage :star
    SCD type:1
    Levels : Lev1,2,3...15 with each level having ID,CD,DESCR as level attributes.
    Hierarchy: prodlev1,prodlev2....prodkey
    All the attributes,heirarchies,levels are defined properly.
    I have a mapping to populate this dimension
    RELATIONALPROD---->DPROD.
    The RELATIONALPROD is the staging table which is equivalent to Dimension table(except the dim keys) and acts as a source for populating DPROD.
    we have loaded dimension succesfully and refreshing it on a need basis.
    However;we are now facing a strange issue of some attributes in few records are being out of synch in DPROD.
    For e.g the Level2 DESCR,Level2CD in DPROD for a given prod_key are not the same as in
    RELATIONALPROD table for that prod_key.
    When we have tried re-executing the mapping it doesnot update the DPROD with the values in RELATIONALPROD for that matching prod_key.
    Anyone faced the same issue?
    Any idea on why this happens and could you please suggest any workarounds/methods to overcome this problem.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Sridh

    Hi David,
    I am a bit confused..Can you please give me more details please
    Futhur,I have the following scenario
    I have the below defined as attributes in the OWB dimension
    ID surrogate
    CD Business
    DESCR
    x
    y
    z
    And my levels for level10 till level50 has the following three as 'Dimension attribute names' with 'Applicable' option checked
    ID
    CD
    DSCR
    and the top most level with the below as 'Dimension attribute names' with 'Applicable' option checked
    ID
    CD
    DESCR
    x
    y
    z
    A mapping from source to dimension is created.
    The problem is the mapping doesnot update CD information at the levels in dimension based on the values in source.

  • Step Type Problems with TestStand 3.5

    I have a TestStand system where I have created some custom step types (Created originally in TestStand 2.0). I've
    used these step types successfully in TestStand 3.1 projects with no problems.
    With TestStand 3.5 I have a recurring problem that I cannot clear.
    Once the custom steps have been added to the system, I re-load my Process model sequence files and resolve type
    conflicts by selecting currently loaded types. (Since my process model utilises these steps and was developed under
    3.1)
    I save the Process Model and then load in my test programs, again resolving type conflicts by selecting currently
    loaded types.
    So far so good.
    However, when I exit the sequence editor I'm ALWAYS being prompted that the NI_FlowControl.ini typepalette file has
    been changed.
    This happens even when I set the system to have NO Process Model selected and don't load a program! i.e. I open the
    sequence editor and shut it down immediately.
    1. Why isn't the Sequence editor prompting me that it's about to change the typepalette file?
    2. Why is it changing the type? (And at what point is it happening?)
    3. I have no indication as to what has changed within the type and where the conflict is coming from.
    4. Why is saving the type having no effect whatsoever?
    At one point with a configuration it kept telling me that the NI_DatabaseTypes.ini file had changed (and that it was
    the only one to change) I experimented by removing that type palette entry (since I didn't use the database steps
    with my process model) and it then started complaining about one of the other NI types as being changed! (Is this a
    TestStand bug?) or is there a decent explanation?
    I've even tried redefining the typepalette files of my step types to create a clean system, but it all falls apart
    whenever I try and load an existing test program. No matter how careful I am, TestStand insists on changing loaded
    types without telling me or giving me the option to choose what I want to do!! (Note - re-writing the test programs
    is NOT an option!)
    Any ideas would be welcomed....

    Brian,
    Have you modified the CommonResults data type?  What is the version that you have loaded?  I have seen this problem when you have a newer version of a data type than the engine loads on startup.  You can fix this problem by either reverting back to an older version of that type (the same as the engine version), or using the following workaround:
    In TestStand, open your type palette window. In the Palette pull down ring select "Customize". Create a new type palette and make sure it is the top-most palette in the list. Name it whatever you like. Click "Ok". Now select your NI_DatabaseTypes.ini from the pull down. Go to the "Standard Data Types" tab, select the "CommonResults" type and copy it.
    Select your newly created type palette from the pull down, and paste the "CommonResults" type into this palette. Save all of your palettes.
    You should no longer be prompted to save your type palettes unless an actual change has been made.

    When loading a page with many hires images, Firefox becomes really slow and scrolling becomes jumpy then eventually becomes completely unresponsive. Unusual high memory usage of up to 2gigs just for firefox when loading these pages. This was never a problem with v3.6.

    I encountered the same type of problem. Firefox running terribly slowly and slowing down my entire machine (Core i5 with 256GB SSD). Searching the forums, I found a couple of things about troubleshooting performance issues, one of which was to use '''hardware acceleration''', that is on by default. It was turned on on my PC, '''so I tried deactivating it, and it worked!'''
    So doing the exact opposite as Mozilla support said solved the problem. It is really a pain now to work with Firefox. I'm using it because I have no choice, but I'd recommend IE and Chrome over Firefox... Whatever, the market will decide once Firefox has become to crappy...

  • Error: "File couldn't be opened for writing" with CinemaDNG sequence

    Using a Premiere Pro > After Effects workflow with my colorist.
    I created a project in Premiere CS6 and used MOV transcodes because Premiere CS6 does not read CinemaDNG sequences. I do not have CC installed on my computer. My colorist, on his computer (we are both using Mavericks), imported the .prproj into AE CS6. We tried to replace MOV files with CinemaDNG sequences, and AE returned this error:
    After Effects error: File couldn't be opened for writing: "[file path]". ( 3 :: 0 )
    Normally when you replace footage with a CinemaDNG sequence in AE, Adobe Camera Raw pops open so you can make changes before the file is important. I have never seen this error before.
    My colorist has CC installed as well as CS6, so we tried that instead.
    Colorist opened the Premiere CS6 project in Premiere CC, creating a new Premiere CC project. Replaced MOV files with CinemaDNG sequences within Premiere CC with no error, project plays fine in Premiere CC. Finally! So we imported the new Premiere CC project in AE CC, and all linked CinemaDNG sequences appear as color bars (unlinked footage). When testing to import a CinemaDNG sequence, AE CC returned the same error as AE CS6.
    So we tried opening the same CinemaDNG files in Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC to see if there was an error with Camera Raw. Both versions of Photoshop open the CinemaDNG files correctly in Camera Raw (version 8.3). So now we have CinemaDNG files functioning properly in Premiere Pro, Photoshop, but... not AE?
    Tried replicating this on a second, Mountain Lion computer with both versions of AE, and returned the same issue.
    CinemaDNG files from a different source DID open in AE CC and AE CS6 on both computers, which leads me to believe there is some kind of permissions/metadata issue in this particular set of CinemaDNG files I'm using that's causing problems for AE, but NOT Premiere Pro or Photoshop. Anyone experience anything like this?

  • Spry Tabbed panels + Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry

    Is there any way to combine tabbed panels together with "Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry"?
    Visit: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/progressive_enhancement.ht ml#updatecontent
    And click on the "Using Spry.Utils.updateContent()"
    The 3rd example shows how to use a fade transition whenever the content changes.
    I already have tabbed panels. My menu contains buttons (on tabs) and my Content div contains the panels.
    Tabs code;
    <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
              <li class="TabbedPanelsTab">
                   <table class="Button"  >
                        <tr>
                        <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home">
                        <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
                        </td>
                        </tr>
                   </table>
              </li>
    etc
    etc
    etc
    and the panel code:
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="Home">
         CONTENT
    </div>
    I hoped i can use the example code from the link into my tabbed panels.
    I thought this code:
    onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;"
    could be added to the tab code like this:
    <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
    But the content doesnt fade...
    I know i need to change the header etc.
    The following is from the link:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Aquo Events</title>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function FadeAndUpdateContent(ele, url)
    try {
         Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 100, to: 0, finish: function() {
              Spry.Utils.updateContent(ele, url, function() {
                        Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 0, to: 100 });
    }catch(e){ alert(e); }
    -->
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* IE HACK to prevent bad rendering when fading. */
    #event { background-color: white; }
    </style>
    </head>
    So i changed my header etc, put the SpryEffects.js and SpryData.js into position and nothing changed...
    Is there a way to keep my tabbed panel (or change as less as possible) and let
    A. The fade work
    B. The loading work.
    The problem now is that it loads all pages instead of only the home. Therefore i wanted this Progressive Enhancement.
    And the fading part is just because its nice...

    It doesnt show in the post but off course i changed this link;
    "data/AquoThonFrag.html"
    into;
    "javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);"
    I must say i dont know if this even works...

  • Sql Developer 1.5.5 bug with large sequence start values.

    We have a small table in our sql server 2005 schema (~700) rows. Its primary key is a bigint. We randomly generate ids for this table (don't ask). We have ids for this table which are larger than 2147483647. (java.lang.Integer.MAX_VALUE). I'm using a Windows 10g instance as the repository:
    SQL> select * from v$version
    2 ;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.1.0 Production
    TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Capturing this model works fine.
    Converting this model works fine.
    When the converted model is "Generated", Sql Developer stops generating the script before the worksheet window is opened with the generated sql. If run from sqldeveloper/bin, this exception is output to the console:

    A problem row can be viewed by issuing this query against the repository:
    select * from md_sequences where seq_start > 2147483647;
    We have one row returned. The oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.MdSequence class uses a java.lang.Integer value to store the start value for the sequence. The value stored in the repository's MD_SEQUENCE table overflows the Integer type.
    Updating the SEQ_START column in the MD_SEQUENCE table fixed our problem. (Well, I can now generate the schema. I may have other problems with the sequence being off).
    I've written this post to save someone else the day it took me to diagnose this problem with Sql Developer 1.5.5. At the very least Sql Developer should inform the user that it could not generate the script because of the large sequence start value. It basically swallows any error and terminates script generation without any type of feedback.

    Update: I was able to recreate the problem!
    1. Create a new table (I used TEST).
    2. Mark first column af primary key.
    3. Save the table.
    Notice the name of the primary key index created: (TEST_PK in my case)
    4. Edit the table.
    5. Under constraints change the name of the primary key constraint.
    6. Save the table.
    Notice that the index still has its original name.
    7. Edit the table.
    8. Change something.
    9. Attempt to save changes (Fails).
    Conclusion:
    Either SQL Developer should be aware of indexes with different name than a constraint,
    or when SQL Developer changes the name of a constraint with an index, both the constraint and the index should be renamed.

  • How to call sql loader ctrl file with in the pl/sql procedure

    Hi Friends,
    I am doing a project related with the transferring data using queues. In the queue , I will get a tab delimited data in the form of CLOB variable/message. I do want to store that dat in the oracle table.
    When updating data into the table ,
    1. Don't want to write that data into a file.( Want to access directly after dequeueing from the specfic queue).
    2. As the data is in tab delimited form, I want to use sql loader concept.
    How do I call the sql loader ctrl file with in my pl/sql procedure. When I searched , most of the forums recommending external procedure or Java program.
    Please Guide me on this issue. my preferrence is pl sql, But don't know about external procedure . If no other way , I will try Java.
    I am using oracle 9.2.0.8.0.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vimal..

    Neither SQL*Loader nor external tables are designed to read data from a CLOB stored in the database. They both work on files stored on the file system. If you don't want the data to be written to a file, you're going to have to roll your own parsing code. This is certainly possible. But it is going to be far less efficient than either SQL*Loader or external tables. And it's likely to involve quite a bit more code.
    The simplest possible thing that could work would be to use something like Tom Kyte's string tokenization package to read a line from the CLOB, break it into the component pieces, and then store the different tokens in a meaningful collection (i.e. an object type or a record type that corresponds to the table definition). Of course, you'll need to handle things like converting strings to numbers or dates, rejecting rows, writing log files, etc.

  • How to load a sysdate with flat file

    How do I load a sysdate with a flat file
    I tried using a constant with a sysdate expression but it seems like OWB creates the ctl file with 'sysdate' as a text and not as a sysdate() function

    Ola Wernere,
    Two things to check:
    - is the data type of the constant a date?
    - did you enter 'sysdate' or just sysdate (without the ampersands)?
    Other thing that might help you is generate the intermediate result in the mapping. This will show you the results you'll expect to be loaded in the flat file...
    Good luck & regards
