Disable iOS auto-lock

Screen dimming (where applicable)
Disable auto-lock and screen dimming on the phone to prevent  applications from going to sleep (useful, for example, in a video  streaming application that doesn't require frequent user input).

Any Idea how to disable auto-lock on iOS with air SDK 2.6?

You can test if you're on a mobile device, and set up listeners for when the app is activated:
if (Capabilities.cpuArchitecture == "ARM") {
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, handleActivate, false, 0, true);
Then on the activate one you could make the system stay awake:
private function handleActivate(event:Event):void {
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.KEEP_AWAKE;

  • Disabling Passcode Auto-Lock

I have a new iPod Touch and ever since I enabled it to get my e-mail and calendar information from Outlook it requires me to use a Passcode and to set an auto lock time. This is frustrating but especially so when I am in the car listening to music and I want to skip a song. I have to type in my passcode and before I can skip the song. This is a dangerous operation if one is driving. Is there a way to disable the auto lock or make it only apply to the e-mail app? Is Apple planning to improve this in future uprgrades to the software? If not I will not be using the Touch as my MP3 player and only as a PDA. An Mp3 player that auto locks after a few minutes is not much good.

Apple's workaround for this is to tap the Home button twice. Then you get the basic player controls even though the unit is locked.
I hate the Touch for car use. I am forced to stare at it to change anything and find it dangerous. I keep a 5G iPod video in a case for extended car use, and I can feel around the scroll wheel that way.

  • My smart cover suddenly disables the auto lock function

Hi, until yesterday the smart cover on my new ipad3 was working fine, now it doesnt work anymore, 1. it disables the auto lock function, meaning when cover is on the ipad doesnt lock and 2.if I close the cover it doesnt lock the ipad automatically which it did until yesterday / anybody any idea ? Thanks !

Yes, this is a new account I set up lastbweekmprior to my holidays. That explains it. I thought I had a problem with the operating system, so many thanks for that.
I will contact my system administrator to adjust the settings.
    Thanks again.

  • IOS auto lock duration

After upgrading to iOS 6.1 i found that i could set my auto lock duration to 'indefiniate'. I noticed yesterday that my phone auto locked as i was driving home. I checked my settings and observed that my 'indefinite' option was removed from my phone.
i am using an iPhone 4.5
Anyone expriance this? Is this a known issue? i tired resetting my phone to the facory settings but that didnt restore the option for me.

Do you have a company MS Exchange email account on your phone? If so, do you have a security profile (Settings/General/Profile, near the bottom)? If so your Exchange administrator can remove that option.

  • Need STOPWATCH that disables the auto-lock

Here's the deal ... I start the stopwatch ... because I don't know how long it'll take (otherwise I'd use the timer, right?) ... and after a few minutes, the screen goes black ... and now I don't know how far along I am.
I'm sorry ... but that's just plain ridiculous.
I looked around ... I can't find how to change that.
Sounds like there's a lot of Clock apps out there ... but my need is very specific.
I'm hoping someone can clue me in as to which one, if any, can do what I need.
    Thanks!

cant you just set the autlock in settings to never before you start the stopwatch?

  • Disable auto lock

I have an iPad Air (1st Gen).
    Running iOS 8.1.2
Using a passlock code (no Touch ID on these models).
When I try to disable the auto-lock feature, it only gives me options ranging from 1min to 15mins. The "Never" option isn't there.
How can I set it so that the screen does not auto-lock?
The reason I need it is because I have a video streaming app but unfortunately the app has a bug whereby when streaming a video the screen times out.

If you aren't getting the Settings > General > Auto-Lock > Never option then do you have an Exchange email account (e.g. a work email account) set up in the Mail app ? If you do then it's possible that the account administrator is preventing the 'never' option for security reasons (to stop work emails being read) - if you remove the email account you should get the 'never' option.

  • Auto Lock still enabling during sync

I have disabled the auto lock to never come on. I was initially getting errors during syncing about the drive not being able to be written to after a few songs. I adjusted all my power settings on the USB hubs on my pc and in the bios, to make sure they weren't auto disabling to save power.
Now I can get much more songs on it before the error, and every time the error occurs through iTunes, my device shows that it's locked again.
Like I said, I'm disabled this feature, changing the setting to "Never". I have powered down device and disconnected from PC, booting device back up and reconnecting, attempting sync again, and after many successful track transfers, it locks itself.

You can re-download purchased apps for free. Click on buy, click yes to I want to purchase, another popup will appear, you have already purchased, do you want to re-download, click yes.

  • IPad Browser seems to Disconnect/time out after Auto Lock

After iPad auto locks, it seems like the browser (Safari and Chrome have both been tested) disconnects or times out. When I unlock the iPad, the pages need to reload or re-establish a connection - and because of the apparent disconnect I am forced to log back into the web page I was on. How can I prevent this disconnect so I can utilize ipads easily in my office? It's so much easier than lugging around a laptop from client to client.
Background: I utilize a few iPads for my business. My EMR software is web based, which means I can use anything with a browser (ipad, laptop, desktop, etc) to log in and use the program. The program itself has an auto log off at 60 minutes, but on my iPads we don't make it that long. We will log into the web site, begin our day but need to set down the iPad when working with clients which can take 20 minutes or more. Our iPads auto lock for security reasons. When we unlock the iPads to continue working, the browser has to, essentially, re-establish a connection to the site - so it is not maintaining an active connection in that browser.  The only thing I have found that helps is disabling the auto lock but that is unacceptable as a long term solution.
It's not the program or the programs site - my laptops work fine as long as I disable hibernation. If it were my network, both laptops and ipads would have the same issue when the wifi signal was lost. What's more, it will happen on other pages - like my bank site or even shopping.
So how can I keep the browser's connection active even when auto locked?
    Thanks!

    Reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • How to deactivate Auto lock in iOS 8?

EVERY time i want to use my iPhone 5 iOS 8 i have to enter my passcode! Auto Lock = NEVER does not have any effect! What can i do? PLEEAAASE HELP!!

    Hello, MaxsDad.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There could be two reason for this behavior and I will do my best to help. Try turning off Passcode off by going to Settings > Passcode > enter passcode > Turn Passcode Off.  If this feature is unable to be disabled, check out the attached section below.
Can’t turn off your passcode or change passcode settings?
If you can't turn off or change your passcode settings or these settings are grey or dimmed out, you might be:
Using Touch ID, which requires a passcode.
Using a configuration profile that requires a passcode. This is common with business or education devices. Contact your IT administrator for more information.

  • IPhone 3G after iOS 4 does not wakes after Lock or auto lock.

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 3G (not S), I upgraded it to iOS 4.0 on Tuesday June 22.
it took around 2-3 hours for the whole process, but it all workd out fine.
Now I have two issues, one major one minor.
    Major issue:
Every time I lock my phone, by using the (sleep/wake button), or if the phone gets auto locked, and if I leave it for a minute or so. I cannot wake it up by pressing the Home menu button (the round button in front). The only way to bring it back to life is to hard boot the phone by pressing the sleep/wake button and the Home menu button together for 10 second. This boots the os back to life, takes around 1-2 minutes. While the phone is inactive, if I make a call to it, on the calling side I hear the ring tone, but the phone lies dead like a stone. So no incomingcalls or SMS, while the phone is in this state, and the caller thinks I am not picking it up.
So far I am avoiding problems by not locking the phone at all, but that is eating up my battery.
Minor problem: as many have mentioned earlier also, it has gone too slow. And a substantially short battery life, accompanied by unusual heating.
Tried restoring the phone using iTunes 9.2, I am hitting 1602 error there, so tried restoring in the "Recovery mode", it worked fine, but the problems persists.
Another thing I noticed was that I can never switch off the phone too.
Every time I press and hold the sleep/wake button and initiate the Power off mode, either of the two things happen.
    1) The circular star loading animation starts, gets stuck a some point, and suddenly the phone boots back to life after some time.
    2) The circular star animation continues, for hours, untill the phone runs out of battery and dies out itself.
So far I have'nt seen a clean shut down after the upgrade.
    what to do....

    used

  • JQuery animate not working in Safari after auto lock on IOS 8.2

    Hi Guys,
We are developing a browser-based video platform which makes use of jQuery's .animate function and am encountering some problems. The animate function is used to simulate inertia when dragging buttons around. This all works perfectly, until the iPad auto-locks after 2 minutes. Once the iPad is unlocked, all inertia is gone. there's no error that I can see, the animate just doesn't work. Refreshing the page doesn't restore functionality, neither does re-entering the address manually into the address bar or navigating to the apps page and back. The only way to restore functionality is to double-tap the iPad's Home button to bring up the apps menu and swipe Safari up to close it.
'It's the code' I hear you cry. Well, I have 2 iPads for testing. One is an iPad 3, the other is a brand new iPad air. Both are on IOS 8.2. The old iPad works perfectly all the time in the exact same condition when the iPad air fails. I've also tried factory resetting the iPad air to try to resolve this but without success.
I've also done a lot of research into this and have seen the posts on stackoverflow saying a few people have resolved the issue with the upgrade from 8.1 -> 8.11 (I also had this issue on 8.1, the version that came with the iPad). Alas I still have it on 8.2.
Also, before anyone tells me to use CSS3 transitions, I use this on other platforms which work perfectly and do not support CSS3.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
    Problem iPad:
    Version: 8.2 (12D508)
    Model: MD785B/B
    Working iPad:
    Version: 8.2 (12D508)
    Model: MC705B/A

Mmmmm... this humble pie is delish.
Ok, so after managing to reproduce this error on my old iPad I think I have it sussed. It's not the iPad's fault entirely. It seems that when you lock the iPad is can mess with the timestamps on events. Even after the app is reopened the timestamp seems to think that its back when it was locked. I've worked around this and used getTimestamp. Seems a few other people have seen this as well.
Hopefully anyone in the same boat will see this. Thanks to anyone who read it.

I recently did the iOS 7.0.2 update, now I'm unable to purchase apps. "App could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later. ". I have tried a few of the suggestions and nothing has worked. Reset, change auto lock time on main screen, change language setting. Now what???

    This sorted it for me:
Backup your iPhone to iCloud (I believe backing up to iTunes will work too). Now go to "Settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings" to completely restore your iPhone to factory settings. Assuming you've backed up to iCloud, you'll be asked when setting up your iPhone if you want to restore from an iCloud backup. Choose that option and once your iPhone has restored itself from your backup, this annoying problem will finally be gone! (was for me anyway).
To restore from an iTunes backup, connect your iPhone to your computer, load iTunes. Click the File menu and select Devices > Restore from Back up.

  • Disabling iOS 7 Activation Lock in an enterprise environment.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for disabling the new Activation Lock feature in iOS 7 without needing to supervise the device through Apple Configurator?  My dilemma is we have about 50 iPhones deployed in our company.  The only way I have found to disable the Activation Lock feature is to supervise the device using Apple Configurator.  However, if the device is supervised, the user cannot sync it with iTunes on their computer.  A lot of our users do sync their iPhones to keep backups, transfer photos, etc.  So the way I see it, I am left with two choices:
We supervise all of our iPhones and tell our users they can't sync with iTunes anymore.
We leave them unsupervised and make a policy that whenever we have to wipe a device we make the user disable Find My iPhone first.
Has anyone found a better solution to this?  Also if we ever get in a situation where a user leaves the company and they did not disable Find My iPhone, can we send the iPhone back to Apple and have them wipe it?  Or would we be left with a nice expensive paper weight?

We just stopped providing phones and instead, cover a set amount of their monthly wireless bill.
If I were in your shoes, I'd offer 2 choices:
    1. The same as #1 in your post.
    2. Let them bring their own device.
Either you have complete control over it (via the configurator), or no control beyond the ability to wipe the data from a device connected to your Exchange server, require a passcode, etc. That can all be done without the need to supervise them using the configurator.

  • How do I disable Windows 8.1 Auto-lock

New Computer, Windows 8.1, 64-bit.  How do I disable the Windows 8.1 Auto-Lock?  I searched Forums, and the most popular answer was to go to User Accounts and Reset Security Policies.  I went to Control Panel/User Accounts and there is NO
option to 'Reset Security Policies'.  Now what?  :(

    Hi,
Did you have any custom GPOs for specific users/groups?
If you didn't modify your GPO,you cannot see this option(Reset Security Policies).
For this issue,I suggest you check your power plans setting first.
Also, please check Screen Saver's time and the following setting.
