Disable untrusted website warning

I've been with Firefox almost from the beginning. Not being able to disable the untrusted website warning smacks of the sort of fascist paternalism that made us all turn away from Microsoft. I know there are workarounds. My point is: we shouldn't have to do this. We should have a choice. I'm sorry, but I'm giving Firefox the flick until it changes its policy. It's a good browser, but the principle is very important. Vote with your cursors folks, it's the only way to make this once-humble organisation listen.

The following approaches have been suggested in past threads and bug reports:
* Clear Firefox's cache (not sure this works)<br>Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced<br>On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"<br>''If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes''
* "Forget about this site" - this will clear cache, history, bookmarks, and permissions for the site, and apparently also a saved certificate<br>Open History > Show All History, right-click an entry for the site > "Forget about this site" ''or'' <br>Type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter > select the site > click the "Forget about this site" button
* Reset Firefox<br>See this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].

  • Disabling untrusted connection warning, or adding issuer without certificate?

I am using Firefox (20) in an environment where I am required to use a proxy to access any external websites, and the proxy has recently been changed in such a manner that it now intercepts HTTPS requests and seems to reissue the certificates from a new identity.
This means that every page I visit that uses HTTPS shows the 'untrusted connection' warning page. I can, of course, add exceptions - but I don't want to have to do this for every secure page (and every subdomain, including those only used for serving up images or stylesheets, etc).
Is there any way to.. disable the warning page? Add an exception for "*"? Add the identity that the certificates are being reissued under to my trusted list (I don't have access to the certificate file)?
Neither Chrome or IE exhibit this behaviour under the same conditions.
NB: Troubleshooting info attached is from a different computer.

You will have to acquire the root certificate of this proxy and install it in Firefox to prevent such an untrusted message.<br />
If you have this certificate in IE or Google Chrome then export it and import in Firefox.<br />
You can inspect the certificate chain in those browser to see how they link it to a built-in root certificate.<br />
You need to set the trust bit to trust this certificate for web pages.

  • Disable untrusted connection warning

There's a particular internal site that I am working on. it has a valid self signed SSL certificate.
When I go to this site in Firefox I get this message under "technical details"
The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
    (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)
Then I click on "add exception" because, yes, I know it is self signed. The "certificate status" section says
    Valid Certificate
This site provides valid, verified identification. There is no need to add an exception
And the confirm button is greyed out. So I can't go to the site because it is self signed and I cant add an exception because it's properly self signed.

  • Disabling the volume warning in the music player

When I raise the volume on my firefox OS device and I have something plugged into the headphone jack, I get an annoying pop-up warning. Where is the setting for disabling this annoyance?

I only use my firefox os device to listen to music when it is connected to my car stereo. Having to deal with the popup means that I am taking my attention away from operating a vehicle on a motorway, therefor the popup is most definitely NOT doing anything to promote my health and safety, and one could easily argue that by distracting me while driving, the popup is actually putting my life at risk. While I thank you for your opinion, it isn't really relevant to the question of "how do I disable the volume warning popup?".

  • Disable Selective Websites

    Hi
In previous versions of Mac OS X Server it was possible to disable certain websites in web services. From what I can see in Lion Server you can only have web services on or off. How would you keep web services running but disable a site from the list of available sites via the GUI?
    Thanks.

  • Disable Java Security Warning: Allow access to the following application from this web site?

    Dear all,
When I open web intelligence with BI launchpad, this warning has been shown:
"The web site is requesting access and control of the Java application shown above. Allow access only if you trust the web site and know that the application is intended to run on this site.
Allow access to the following application from this web site?"
and it has just three button of "Yes", "No" and "Help".
I go to Java Control Panel and Security tab, then set security level on the "Medium" and add my site in the Exception Site List but this warning is shown each time I open web intelligence.
I have searched the internet very much but I haven't found any solutions for disabling of it. How can I disable this security warning?

  • How do I disable the "Security Warning" - encrpted script message when I log in to a website using https ? If I cannot get the website owner to change it's code

    ''dupe of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1027400 - locking''
Whenever I log onto a website via https, I get this message and am unable to have Firefox save my password for the website.
Another user asked this question and it was answered, however, the user was asking in the context of his own website where he was able to change the code.
I am unable to change the code for this website but would like to disable this message and have Firefox remember my password for the user id I type in.
Whenever I log onto a website via https (including my website), I get this message:
Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to continue sending this information? This is followed below with two boxes, "continue" and "cancel".
In order to connect with the website, I must click on "continue" each time I log onto the website. HOW do I permanently DISABLE this message?
    Chosen solution
Firefox gives that error because the page is on HTTPS but your form action is HTTP:
    <form action="http://eclipse69forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=login&do=process" method="post" id="login">
Can you change that to HTTPS?

There is a disconnect here: if the form is being submitted securely, then you would not get that message. So although you may be looking at an HTTPS address in the address bar, Firefox is warning you that your username and password are going to an HTTP address and being transmitted in the clear rather than being protected.
That's definitely not the normal way to set up a login page. Do you want to give the URL of the problem login page to get specific comments? Without knowing more, it sounds as though it isn't designed for secure logins and you may be wasting your time accessing their login form using HTTPS.
Anyway, to answer your question, I don't think there is a way to disable that warning.

  • I have used a website for years, now I get an untrusted connection warning. How do I progress?

    Using FF 9.0.1
www.corp.delaware.gov gets me a "Connection Untrusted" note. Error code : ssl_error_cert_domain. Never happened before. Just used my wives desktop and it went through normally.

Rename the file cert8.db to cert8.db.old in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove all intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored by visiting secure websites.<br />
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed file cert8.db.old unless you have user certificates that you may want to export first and import them in the new file.<br />
Otherwise you can restore the certificates by renaming (copying) the file back to cert8.db<br />
Firefox will automatically store new intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send them.<br />

  • When try to access GE Money website I get an Untrusted Connection warning

www.gemoney.com uses an invalid security certificate.

I dont get this warning with Ie. Is this a FF5.0 issue? Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
    # At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
    # In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
    # Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
    # Click the remove button.
    # Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
For further information, please read [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]].
Did this fix the problem? Let us know!

  • How to disable IE Security Warning on opening a "local" visio file with Visio Viewer ActiveX?

    Hello all,
Everyone knows that Microsoft released ActiveX based Visio Viewer for free and allow the users to open Visio drawing and view/print via IE browser.
The problem that I am facing is that some users are complaining about IE browser's security warning on "active content to run in files on My Computer".
It means that opening .VSD files from the network, internet, intranet would be all OK but if the user wants to open .VSD files from the local hard drive (or open it as a mail attachment, which will extract it to a temp folder), it prompt the user to select "Allow Blocked Content" EVERYTIME they open them.
I know that I can GLOBALLY disable this warning by going through Tools - Internet Options - Security section and enable "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" but I hope that there is a way (or workaround) to allow them by file type or location, etc.
    Questions:
    1. Is there any way to disable those warning for all .VSD only while we still UNCHECK the option on Internet Options?
    2. Is there any 3rd party Win32 based viewer which wouldn't have those restriction?
    3. Is it safe assumption that McAfee VirusScan and Host IPS protection is sufficient enough to remove the IE's security warning feature?
    Thanks in advance?
    Young-

Are you able to host/launch the VSD file via an HTM page? In that case you can format the HTM page as shown below. This will trick IE into thinking it is loading the file off of a website. Commonly called 'mark of the web'.

  • Can I create a form that doesn't trigger Acrobat's JavaScript disabled / security issues warning?

    Hello,
Can I create a pdf that doesn't trigger Acrobat's JavaScript is currently disabled and this document uses it for some features.  Enabling JavaScript can lead to potential security issues.
I even get this error when I create a blank pdf.
I'm not using any JavaScript in the form and the nature of the message might tend to be a bit scary to some people since it mentions enabling JS can lead to potential security issues.  I basically want to disable the messaging of a feature I'm not even using.
Anyone know if this is possible and if so, how I go about it?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    I too share your frustration!!
Unfortunately I do not have a complete answer for you.
From the start I must say that Stefan Cameron has been very helpful (http://forms.stefcameron.com/2010/01/14/acrobatreader-9-3-now-available/), however I have not had sufficient time available to deal with the issue (or find a satisfactory resolution).
The original post that Srini shared with you related to an XFA form that had FormCalc and Javascript in it. I will now share with you another situation that is closer to your experiences.
Sometimes where we have a complex solution/form, we often give our users a PDF with instructions and demonstrations. We generate these using Adobe products:
    LiveCycle Designer ES to generate the solution/form;
    Captivate to record the demonstration (.swf);
Acrobat to package it up in a static PDF.
The screen shots below are from a PDF that includes written instructions and six Flash (.swf) files. The PDF does NOT include fields/form objects and does NOT include any FormCalc or Javascript.
One of the big sells in Acrobat 9 was that Adobe had fully integrated Flash (Adobe product, ex. Macromedia) into Acrobat 9. This mean that .swf files could run natively inside a PDF. Brilliant!!!  The website today is still pushing this message, for example:
Now bear in mind that the following screenshots are from a PDF that does not contain any scripting - its sole purpose is to "inform" the user, "look as good as the work I put into it", incorporate instruction and "multimedia" in a "single polished file" and I should be "confident that my audience will be able to view my work exactly as intended".
    Not so!!
When the user now opens the form, all looks OK. No warning. They can read the instructions and scroll down to the multimedia (.swf files).
However when the user clicks on the multimedia, the yellow bar appears:
I go through the "trust" process:
And the PDF looks like it is OK, no yellow bar. When I click on the multimedia, it begins to play - yes!! BUT ONLY FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND THEN IT STOPS AND GOES BACK TO THE START - AGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!. I would apologise for shouting, but this is beyond frustration. The work in capturing six screencasts in Captivate, annotating them, publishing to .swf and packaging up in Acrobat has been a complete waste of time. Worse than that I now have several PDFs out there, that do not work. Good advertisement for my business? I don't think so!!
The document that Stefan provided (Managing JavaScript Execution in the Acrobat Family of Products) does not mention Flash/.swf as being a problem. However I would recommend that you go through this document, as it may help you.
So, where to now? I don't know. The previous posts and Stefan's responses have several urls that may help. You should maybe consider logging your experiences as a bug (log at Adobe).
    In the meantime good luck,
    Niall
    UPDATE:
This behaviour (.swf playing for only a few seconds) happens in PDFs where the .swf is inserted as legacy media to run in earlier versions of Acrobat/Reader. In this case Acrobat/Reader is making an external call to Flash Player. Hence the yellow bar. However it does not explain why the Flash video still does not play when trusted.
If the .swf is added into the PDF as Flash media to run on Acrobat 9 and above, then it works without displaying the yellow warning bar.
So maybe any feature of your PDF that calls an external resource is likely to show the yellow warning bar.
