Disabling Edit Mode in Workspace

In the workspace, the "Edit Mode" is available to all users by default. Is there a way to disable or hide the Edit Mode option to all users?

The only thing I can come up with is that I found a blog that said that in the Trial version Photomerge does not work, however I do Not have the Trial version, I did at one time but I purchase Adobe Elements. Thank you.

The blog was incorrect. Photomerge should work in the trial, too.
When things get weird in PSE the first thing to do is to delete the prefs. Go to the editor preferences>general, click this button and restart the editor:

You have to remove modify rights for those users on that page. Component basis is possible but will create ACL complications. Please check http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/developing/components/boilerplates.html for that.

[iPhone] TableView in editing mode disables selection methods

When I put mu UITableView in editing mode, via setEditing:animated:, the selection methods from the delegate don't get called. In particular the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method does't get called.
If I don't put the tableView in editing mode I can select the row as usual. Has anyone else had this issue?

Found the problem. A tableview has a allowsSelectionWhileEditing property. Set that to YES and it works

Deleted Items Stay in Edit mode?

When Adding Items to a portal, for instance an Image... and then I want to delete that image... I can delete it so the image no longer shows on the finished page, but the Item still shows in the Edit mode. How do I delete the Item so it no longer shows in Item mode

Assuming that you are using 10g: 
Yes, you can disable this feature. Click on Properties of the Page Group that you want to disable this feature. Go to the third tab Items. 
On this tab you will see 2 options : 
Retain Deleted Items 
Display Unpublished, Expired, and Deleted Items In Edit Mode 
Either enable or disable based on your preferences.

ALV: columns in read-only mode look like editable columns in edit mode

My application contains an ALV table which should be toggled between display and edit mode like the rest of the fields.
The evident solution was to use
if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_read_only( abap_true or abap_false)
However, unlike the rest of the fields, when the application changes into display mode and the fields get grey like in any SAP application, the columns in the table which were editable remain white, and those which were not editable and thus grey, get now white, too, instead of the other way round. So it will look to the normal user, as if now all columns would be editable!
Of course, he would realize that they are not when he tries to edit them, but this is irritating.

through my books ("Einstieg in Web Dynpro for ABAP", "Praxisbuch Webdynpro for ABAP", ...)
through the wiki for Webdynpro for ABAP here in SDN as well as through this forum (by searching with "ALV edit")
through the notes in BC-WD-CMP-ALV
but could not find any solution. Most tables in those PDF articles found here in the WD4A wiki also show white cells although they are probabliy in read-only mode (e.g. the imitation of the SE16N browser article).
The attributes to the LO_CELL_EDITOR for both Inputfields and textview columns contain exactly the same values when toggling between display and edit mode (read-only in table settings), so also no chance to change here anything.
Also changing the cell design is not a solution as there is no design that looks like grey for not editable according to WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN ([SAP Help - WDUI_TABLE_CELL_DESIGN|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/56/5e9041d3c72e7be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm].
I do not know if I have made an error, as this is my 3rd Web Dynpro (after the first 2 of the introduction book), or SAP is really inconsistent in User interface between "normal" fields and ALV table fields.
Can you please help me?

In my application aslo, i have 30 columns out of which 10 are input fields. But, i'm showing the table as ABAP_TRUE incase of Non-editable otherwise to abap_false. Now i'm getting everything as in WHITE cells.
Do you want to show it is Grey mode with Non-editable feature. Is that so.
How many columns are there which has Input fields.
Get the column references.
Now, based on the mode of display create the object as Input or Textview field.
For that column -
If mode eq 'D'.
Create an object for Textview(cl_salv_wd_uie_text_view)
else.
Create an Object for Inputfield(cl_salv_wd_uie_input_field)
endif.
The Append row is a standard button or custom one on ALV toolbar.
Do you want to hide the toolbar or just disable these buttons.

Disable Editing in GL a/c in VKOA

but client setting is disable.
How can i disable edit GL accounts in VKOA.

Actually the settings will be controlled by BASIS team
It is not suggested to keep the VKOA settings in EDITABLE mode, which will impact a lot if something goes wrong.
Ask your BASIS team to disable, if chages required do it through DEV - QAS - PROD

Problem with window repaint and scrollbars in edit mode (LabVIEW 8.0.1)

I am running LabVIEW 8.0.1 in Windows XP SP3. For my main VI, I ran into a strange problem about 5 months ago. The front panel window - in both edit mode and run mode - stopped repainting itself on the right side which is most visible when you scroll up and down, but also visible with overlapping windows. Coincident with the repaint problem, both scrollbars look disabled with greyed-out arrows and no boxes in the bars that you can click and drag to scroll the window. The scrollbars still partially work if you hover the mouse over them and roll the mouse wheel but clicking and dragging doesn't work.
The front panel has lots of controls and indicators including tab-control containers and is larger in the horizontal and vertical directions so both scrollbars should be active. But I deleted all elements on the front panel and everything in the block diagram and the problem persists. So the problem is not directly related to some control/indicator display.
I saved the simple VI with this problem (using a wide text line and a tall rounded box to test), then created a new VI and copied the two elements to the new VI. This new VI does not have the repaint and scrollbar problem. The two VIs differ slightly in memory usage and in revision number (the bad one is revision 1785 and the good one is revision 3), but otherwise the two VIs are identical. I attached both VIs to this posting. When you first open the bad VI, you'll see the disabled scrollbars whereas the good VI has active scrollbars. To replicate the repaint problem, scroll the window up and down with your mouse wheel. If it's fine when you first open the VI, click on another window, then click back on the VI window and try the mouse wheel again. This clicking-away-and-back always causes the repaint problem for me. I tried the VIs on two different computers both running Windows XP SP3 and LabVIEW 8.0.1 with identical results.
Here's what I discovered from troubleshooting with the simple VIs:
* scrollbars always disabled
* repaint problem in main window for window widths larger then 680 pixels
* repaint problem in main window menu toolbar for widths larger than 646 pixels
* entire window becomes disabled for window widths larger than 1348 pixels
* can repaint window by minimizing and restoring, but only repaints that one time
* scrollbar boxes sometimes flicker into view but then disappear
* scroll left and right by hovering mouse over horizontal scrollbar and using mouse wheel
I found something similar on this forum (thread: Problem with front panel refresh) - it might be related to the CAR about the panel being offset internally. I don't have access to LabVIEW 8.5 or later and don't plan to upgrade - I haven't tried the trial version as that user did. I could try to copy and paste my entire block diagram to a new VI but the VI is so large I'm afraid something would break, plus I don't want this to happen again in a few months. The problem seemed to occur after a certain number of saves (or revision number). I save backup copies often and when the problem first happened, I was able to go back to a previous version, make the missing changes and save it with no problems, but this only delayed the problem and it came up later. So maybe it's the revision number. It didn't seem related to a particular addition or modification in the front panel or diagram.
The image attached shows the repaint and scrollbar problems in the bad VI.
This brings up a question I have - if this problem is a bug and was fixed in 8.5 and later, is there a way to apply bug fixes to earlier versions? Or do I have to pay for an upgrade to fix such bugs?

Seems something got corrupted with this VI. Copy things over to a fresh VI and things should be OK.

Disable Protected Mode Reader 11

I have found articles on Adobe's website about disabling protected mode -

With both these settings turned on when you start up adobe and view edit > preferences it displays protected mode as being disabled however if I open task manager then open adobe reader I can see 1 instance of AcroRD32.exe - when I then open a PDF file via file > open browser to a PDF file I can see another 2 instances of AcroRD32.exe inside task manager. I thought this behavior was down to PM being enabled as it would spawn multiple instances of this to ensure it runs in sandboxing mode? The problem I have is we use an application inhouse which whitelist's only approved .dll's and .exe's and because Reader continues to spawn multiple instances of Reader even with these registry settings enabled I continue to hit issues getting Reader to work with my whitelist application.
Is there a way that when you open Reader it will only ever open 1 instance of AcroRD32.exe or is the behavior I am seeing by design even with Protected Mode disabled?

[SOLVED] Disabling N mode: possible? (iwl4965)

Hey guys, I have an Intel 4965 802.11abgn wireless card.
I have been getting download speeds significantly lower than what I expect and what I get with Windows Vista on the same machine.
For example, with the easylist.com Arch mirror I usually get about around 1mbps on other computers. With this one, I get between 60-200kbps.
This happened in Vista as well, but I fixed the problem by disabling N mode in a device manager. I guess our router doesn't support it. So, my question is this: is there a way for me to disable N mode under Linux? It'd be great to get my regular download speeds back. Thanks!

JQuery-Script only working when WebPart is in Edit Mode

Hi there,
so I developed some custom functionality with SPServices that works fine in my dev-environment. Now Im trying to deploy it in the productive environment and Ive struggled for several hours but cant get it to work.

I insert the code inside of a simple form webpart.
When the webpart / website is in edit mode, the code executes fine.
When its not in edit mode, the jquery functions work, but the spservices functions do not seem to work. I get the error "Das Objekt unterstützt diese Eigenschaft oder Methode nicht." (in english its something like "The object does not support
this property or method."). Line number of the error then points to the first occurrence of $.SPServices(). (Firefox Screenshot of Console: http://imgur.com/QvozF38)
I searched nearly the whole Internet and tried different solutions.
I wrapped the $(document).ready(function() {}) like this: ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(function() {}, "sp.js");
And I tried writing the code directly to the webpart page via sharepoint designer. It does not work then either and I even cant enter edit mode.
I found out, that the masterpage-Template is also referencing a jQuery-Instance (v 1.4.2), so I tried disabling the reference in my script, but the result is the same.
I also tried referencing the scripts via absolute URLs, without success.
The references to the scripts seem to work (I can click them in sharepoint designer). I just dont know why it is not working. If you have any further suggestions or have any idea how to tear this problem down, or find out whats maybe causing it, please let
me know because Im really clueless right now...

C# COM server events "lost" when raising events while Excel is in edit mode

I have an in-proc COM server written in C# (using .NET Framework 3.5) that raises COM events based on this example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd8bf0x3(v=vs.90).aspx
Excel VBA is the most common client of my COM server. I’ve found that when I raise COM events while Excel is in edit mode (e.g. a cell is being edited) the event is “lost”. Meaning, the VBA event handler is never called (even after the Excel
edit mode is finished) and the call to the C# event delegate passes through and fails silently with no exceptions being thrown. Do you know how I can detect this situation on my COM server? Or better still, make the event delegate call block until
Excel is out of edit mode?
I have tried:
Inspecting the properties of the event delegate – could not find any property to indicate that the event failed to be raised on the client.
Calling the event delegate directly from a worker thread and from the main thread – event not raised on the client, no exceptions thrown on the server.
Pushing the event delegate onto a worker thread’s Dispatcher and invoking it synchronously – event not raised on the client, no exceptions thrown on the server.

Checking the status code of the Dispatcher.BeginInvoke call (using DispatcherOperation.Status) – the status is always ends with “Completed”, and is never in “Aborted” state.
Creating an out-of-proc C# COM server exe and tested raising the events from there – same result, event handler never called, no exceptions.
Since I get no indication that the event was not raised on the client, I cannot handle this situation in my code.
I have tested this with Excel 2010 and Excel 2013.
Here is a simple test case. The C# COM server:

This problem also occurs for a C++ MFC Automation server that raises COM events. If I raise the COM event from the main thread when Excel is in edit mode, the event handler is never called. No errors or exceptions are thrown on the server,
similar to my C# COM server. However, if I use the Global Interface Table to marshal the event sink interface from the main thread
back to the main thread, then invoking the event - it will block while Excel is in edit mode. (I also used COleMessageFilter to disable the busy dialog and not responding dialogs, otherwise I'd receive the exception:
RPC_E_CANTCALLOUT_INEXTERNALCALL It is illegal to call out while inside message filter.)
Knowing that, I tried to do the same on my C# COM server. I could instantiate the Global Interface Table (using the definition from pinvoke.net) and the message filter (using the IOleMessageFilter definition from MSDN). However, the event still
gets "lost" and does not block while Excel is in edit mode.

I’d like my C# COM server to behave in a similar way to the MFC Automation server. Is this possible? I think I should be registering the ManagerEvents interface pointer in the GIT but I don't know how to get at it? I tried using Marshal.GetComInterfaceForObject(this,
typeof(ManagerEvents)) but that just throws an exception: System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid.

I’ve found that when I raise COM events while Excel is in edit mode (e.g. a cell is being edited) the event is “lost”. Meaning,
the VBA event handler is never called (even after the Excel edit mode is finished) and the call to the C# event delegate passes through and fails silently with no exceptions being thrown.
Do you mean you didn't raise EventOne event? EventOne handler like following?
