Disabling System Beep

I'm trying to disable the beeping that my swing application is doing. I've searched the forum and I've found where you subclass the WToolkit and implement a do nothing on the beep method. I've also set the system property. However, it's still beeping. I've placed my customized toolkit in the same package as my JFrame.
package framework.globalwindow;
import sun.awt.windows.WToolkit;
public class ToolkitMvr extends WToolkit
public void beep()
}My JFrame does the following
System.setProperty("awt.toolkit", "framework.globalwindow.ToolkitMvr");But my application still beeps.
If I do a System.out.println on getToolkit of my JFrame, I get the sun.awt.windows.WToolkit class name back. That leaves me to think that my setProperty isn't correct. I've played with it but I'm unable to get it to work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Yigit,
Thanks for grabbing my attention on this...
r4z0r,
Is this the beep / alarm that occurs when your battery drops to 10%(?).
We've raised these issues to development on other models and so we can do on this one as well.  Typically the update is to disable this function through a future bios update.
Updates can take a few weeks.
In the meantime, you might check in BIOS under the configuration tab for Power Beep, which can be set to disable.  See if this mutes the beep, or only mutes the beep that occurs when you plug / unplug AC while the system is running.
Best regards,
Mark

  • Thinkpad Yoga - disable f12 beep on boot

    Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to fully disable system beeps on the Thinkpad Yoga. In particular I'm interested in disabling the loud beep that you hear by pressing the f12 key on start up (in order to open the boot menu).
    Thank you

    Hi
As far as I know you cannot disable this in the BIOS.
But the F12 boot menu option belongs to the BIOS and maybe you could secure this setting using the supervisor or user password.
Please check the Toshiba preinstalled Toshiba Assist and there go to tab Secure.
There you will find the tools for user or supervisor password.

  • How do you disable key beeps?

Is there a way to disable key beeps on a device (NGage) using J2ME? When a user hits the softkeys in my application the system still plays a beep sound, which I want to disable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Someone out there must know?

  • Lion disables system info and software update in about this mac

hey guys I have problem with lion when I reboot lion,
it disables system info and software update in "about this mac"
actually it says "this button is disabled because there is no system profiler application" or  "this button is disabled because there is no software update application"
and also everytime when I reboot my computer it always changes default applicatons. for example
it changes from VLC player to quicktime,  from Archive utility to textEdit and so on.
each time i got to reinstall "Afloat application" if i want to use it.
for making them ok I just need to open software updater from system pref. and the button becomes visible again.
it is same with the system info. I gotto search system profiler via spotlight search and I run, button becomes visible again.
for the archieve utility i got to go to coreservices and open Archieve utility then automatically it becomes default app for .zip files again.

Did you just install Lion? If so, you might need to try to reinstall as something got messed up.
Alfoat uses SIMBL which will break at just about every update. The reason you may have to keep installing Afloat is because the Resume feature of Lion is not compatible with SIMBL. See here: http://roaringapps.com/app:383
SIMBL is a low-level system hack and may be causing your problems.

  • System beep every time I mouse to the lower left hand screen corner

Can anyone help me with this?
Every time I mouse to the lower left hand corner of the screen, I get a system beep.
I am using a Mac Book Pro with a 24 inch Cinema Display attached.
I do not use Expose or Spaces, I have no hot corners set.
I have no hot corners set for the screen saver.
    Any suggestions?

Sounds like the beep I get when I go to the upper right corner, for which I've set the "All windows" in expose. Try this: go to System Prefs >expose&spaces, and set your lower left corner for all windows. Then close system prefs, and throw your mouse into the lower left corner to activate expose. Then go back to system prefs and set that corner for nothing (just the dash). Now try it and see if that beep still happens.

  • Systems beeps on wake - x200s

since the day i have had this system about 50% of the time i try to wake it by opening it after it's been closed i get the following system beeps and a blank screen that doesn't even have power to it.
    these are beeps:
one..... one, two three... one, two three..... one
so 8 in total, two are single (the first and last) and the other six are in tight groups of 3
anyone have an idea of what this could be? can it be fixed? i've checked web documents and haven't found anything re the beeps.
    many many thanks!

To reseat the memory DIMM cards, remove and then reinstall them. While you have the cards out, inspect the gold connector pins along the edge of the card, and the socket into which it plugs, for debris. If you have a can of air, clean the cards and the socket.
The Hardware Maintenance Manual describes how to remove and reinstall the memory, but it is probably easier just to watch the movie!
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • System Beep when I try to delete

I'm using Aperture 3 and when I try to delete a photo with CMD+Delete the system beeps and the photo is not deleted. I have tried this with both referenced and managed files and get the same result. I'm able to delete the photo if I go to the menu and choose delete but prefer to use the keyboard shortcut.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to disable system keys like alt+ctrl+delete...

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way to disable system keys like alt+ctrl+delete and windows logo key etc... I would like it to get disabled when ever my java application is visible and I want it in pure java.
    Thanks,
    regards,
    Jay

Thanks for all your replies but hey I've seensome
program ( downloaded from google ) do suchthing.
What they do is some kinda image thing appearsin
    the
full screen mode and do all the tasks what I'veopt
for. So, I'm confused what is being done in
    those
    programs.
Even if it is doable (Ctrl, Alt Delete I don't
    think
will be, Windows Key should be) It will not via
    Java,
but JNI. So you would be better off hunting overthe
    MSDN.137256 speaks the truth. Ctrl-Alt-Delete is a
HARDWARE interrupt caught by the OS. In modern
Windows it launches a widget that can be used to
shutdown, logoff or run task manager. I have many
doubts about what the OP is saying.
All hail Sun.Indeed 3021. CAD is active even when Windows isn't. I experienced this recently, and never want to again.
All hail Sun. We love you ...

  • System beeps at startup

Starting today, my system beeps when I start up.  When I power on, I hear approximately 3-4 faint beeps.  It stops after that.  It sounds like it's a system warning beep from the K8N.  The beeping stops after those first 3 or 4 beeps and the system boots up fine.  I'm confused and have no idea what this beep signifies.

    AMI Beep Code
    Beep Code         Description
    1 short         DRAMS refresh failure
    2 short         Parity circuit failure
3 short         Base 64k RAM failure
    4 short         System timer failure
    5 short         Process failure
6 short         Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
7 short         Virtual mode exception error
8 short         Display memory Read/Write test failure
9 short         ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 short         CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
    11 short         Cache Memory error
    1 long, 3 short         Conventional/Extended memory failure
    1 long, 8 short         Display/Retrace test failed
I have 3 short beeps.  What the heck is Base 64k RAM failure?? I'm going to email MSI for tech support here, but as we know, they don't have a perfect record in answering tech emails.  So, in the meantime, I'd really appreciate everyones' help.
    Thank you.

  • How to enable system beep?

Hi, I just installed Arch on my (new) computer, and the system beep doesn't seems to be working.
In alsamixer, all is unmuted and lsmod gives
    $ lsmod | grep pcspkr
    pcspkr 1795 0
I have not blacklisted any module, and my DE is LXDE.
Other sounds works well, and I have problems with udev, don't know if this could be related.
    Thank you
    Fractal

See if it is activate in the gnome sound panel.

  • How to disable system triggers?

I'm in the process of applying patchset 8.1.7.4 and the documentation here says to disable system triggers by setting the systemtrig_enabled_ to false in the pfile. The problem is that I cannot find this parameter in the pfile!! Is this normal?

put this line in the pfile and bounce the db and start it. If you dont get any errors while starting up db then you can go ahed with the process.

  • GT627 system beeping

my laptop is beeping constantly upon login in vista.  this issue was discussed previously  on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=130745.0 , but it has been locked by one of the moderators  i hv disabled the beep function in CMD but it does not help at all. my laptop is not overheating too.. the beeping usually stops when my laptop gets hot enough (after using it for 30 mins)
my laptop is not under warranty too  i am currently reside in Australia and i bought my laptop from EBAY US. i rang MSI Australia and the dude said they dont repair any US model. but MSI global website states that every laptop comes with  2 years global warranty if i am not mistaken.

After a little more use, I've observed that in XP it barely beeps. Like, after an hour of being on I heard one beep and nothing more. Also, in Vista sometimes the beeping will go CRAZY, other times it is completely silent. I think the problem is the attempted access to a malfunctioning device... any way to test every single piece of your hardware and see which thing is screwed up?

  • Unexplained system beep at logout/restart/shutdown

For some time now, whenever I logout, restart, or shutdown my iMac, the system beep would sound. Is this normal? Why does it do this? Other than that, everything seems fine.

Mine does this too, not sure why.. Also, how to post discussions?

  • Disable System Sounds [3000 N500]

I hope this is not a double post
Please advise on how to disable the system sounds on a Lenovo 3000 N500. I'm reffering to the very annoying "beep" at critical battery power, or plug/unplug of the AC Adapter.
I have disabled all the sounds in Vista CP, but that didn't solve the problem.
    thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This worked on my Lenovo 3000 N500:
In "Control Panel" open "sound",Then in sound, in the "Playback" tab, double click on the "speakers" icon. This will open up a "speaker properties window. Click on the "Levels" tab and this will show two areas, speakers and PC speaker, click on the little speaker icon for the pc speaker and it should show a circle with a slash through it showing that the pc speaker is disabled. Click OK or apply whichever is highlighted.
