Disabling time-only monitoring for a method

Hello,
I have a namespace "MyCompany" with a class "MyClass".  MyClass has a method that is very CPU intensive (think loads of fast enumerations).  I want to exclude this method from all monitoring including time monitoring.
Can I do this by disabling monitoring for that method in the methods dialog box (resource methods) or do I need to disable monitoring for the entire class under namespaces?
Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Both variants will work.
But if you choose the second variant (disabling the entire class within namespaces configuration), you won't see all the calls of that class in stack unless you add some calls explicitly within methods.

  • IPad 2 as only monitor for Mac Mini

hello. I own a Mac Mini (2010) and will be traveling overseas. I do not own a laptop, but I do own a WIFI iPad 2. Is there a way to use the iPad 2 as a monitor for my Mac Mini? I would not need to access any of the touch screen features on the iPad, just simply use it as a small monitor. If someone could provide me with a link or a step by step solution it would be very appreciated.
    thanks.
    Gus.

There are apps that allow using an iPod as a secondary monitor for a computer. I do not think it can be the only monitor but maybe after you first use a regular monitor to setup the iPad monitor. You will have to look at the description of the apps/go to theri support site

  • Time sync monitor for all windows member servers

How to monitor time sync issue on all the member servers and domain controllers.  Can we monitor through scom 2007 r2.  Specially we need an alert when all the member servers are not in time sync.
    B John

There is no monitor for exactly your ask.
The AD management pack includes a Time Service Health monitor for DCs that makes sure the time service is running:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0c921fa7-45ed-4bee-8f53-c92c750f6cbf/scom-module-for-monitoring-time-sync-issues?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
Here is my "domain time tip:"
Select your preferred time server from this list
    http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/NTP/. For example 'tick.usno.navy.mil'.
Then run these commands on your PDC emulator of the domain:
    W32tm /config /syncfromflags:manual /manualpeerlist:"<DNS-name-of-time-server>"
    W32tm /config /reliable:yes
    W32tm /config /update
    W32tm /resync
    Net stop w32time
    Net start w32time
If you execute these commands, AD defaults will cause all your member servers to discover the domain time standard and update to it.

  • Mobileme Apple ID disabled. Only used for email/contacts/calendar.

    Hi all.
My Apple ID has been disabled for the 3rd time. I have never used my mobileme Apple ID for any iTunes purchases. I've only used it for email. I use my yahoo.com Apple ID for purchases.  To clarify,  I've used my yahoo email address as my Apple ID for purchases. I don't understand why it would be an issue for an account that was never used for any types of purchases whatssoever.
The spate of problems I've had with this account have been neverending. Email forwarding rules being abruptly changed, deleted contacts when I transferred from mobileme, delayed email, and now this.
Is there any end in sight?

    Hi,
Yes, thanks for asking, I switched to icloud.com, I am aware it was mandatory to switch to iCloud after June 30 2012, so I decided to embrace the change and took the plunge a few days after iCloud was announced. Thats when the problems began.
The issue has been persistent ever since the data hack was announced by the media. I reset my AppleID password last night and it wouldn't accept my new password, but accepted the old one.

  • Using the 23" HD for only monitor for Macbook

I just bought the 23" HD cinema display and when I am at my desk I just want to use the 23" display. I just want to close the lid of my macbook and use the HD screen. I also bought a wireless keyboard for that purpose.
But I cannot get the macbook screen to turn off. I turned the mirroring off, I still have two monitors on though. On my pc I can turn the laptop screen off and just use my LCD TV in the living room. I hope I can do this, otherwise it is not going to serve its purpose.
    Any quick response is appreciated.

Hi there, I just read this post because I have this same problem. I bought the 20" Cinema Display which is hooked up to the 2.2Ghz MacBook. And like the post says, the display on the MacBook stays on the whole time and I have to lean over and turn the brightness down. Apparently you have a different idea. Let me see if I get this right:
    1. You shut the lid on MacBook
    2. It puts the MacBook to sleep
    3. Then you touch the on button on the display which wakes up the display only
    4. Is that right?
    Thanks

  • Disabling the fragmentation monitor for SSDs but not for spinning disks

We are using SCOM 2012R2.  We have several servers and most of them have now been upgraded to use SSD drives.  The SCOM fragmentation monitor complains about their high level of fragmentation.  I would like to disable the monitor rather than
go and disable it individually for each of them, since there are about 40-50 of them.  But, I would like the monitor to remain working because we still have about 25 spinning disks left and would like to be alerted when these need attention.
    Suggestions?
    thanks, Rob Hutchison

    Hi !
You have to set the "% fragmentation" and set the "Use OS Recommendation" to False, for a dedicated taget.

  • Work order to consume time only

    Hi all,
Is there a way in SAP to release a work order to consume time only?
For example if a tub of parts is to be sorted how do we release an order for someone to book time against?
    Cheer,

You can create an order without material, and define in the operation the relevant work center and time that you want to book.

  • Disable monitoring for non-system disks.

    Hi all,
Our backup server dynamically mounts disks (with drive letters) when it's backing up a Virtual Machine.
These disks are giving a lot of alerts in our monitoring that we don't need, therefore we want to disable monitoring for these disks. What is the best way to disable monitoring for these non-system disks ? As I said, these disks are dynamically mounted and
    unmounted ...
Any experience with this case ?
    Kind Regards,
    J. Monnens

This is a bit surprising, since the logical disk discovery only runs once a day, plus it's not supposed to discover network and removable drives.
That means that your disks are mounted when the discovery runs and that they appear as "real" logical disks...
Unfortunately there is no "sync time" parameter for this discovery, which would have allowed you to specify the time of the day at which the discovery runs; thus allowing you to set a time at which you know the drives are not mounted.
Is there any other parameter that could help identifying these specific disks, besides their letter, so you could add them to a dynamic group?
Otherwise, what you could maybe try is to create your own logical disk discovery based on the native one, but with specific settings that would exclude your drives and then disable the native discovery.
But this again implies that you have something that would let you identify specifically your mounted drives... Also the native discovery is a quite complex VBS, I wouldn't actually recommend disabling/modifiying it.
Maybe I could have another idea with more details about your environment...

  • Possible loop deadline monitoring for a period of time?

    Hi All,
Here is our scenario.. We have a task sent to the managers inbox with deadline monitoring on it.  If the manager does not action this task, we set this task to obsolete and then we want to send a reminder email every day until the manager performs the required action.
So the problem.. originally this email was to be a task but the loop would not work with the task as it's waiting on action from the user.  We changed this task to an email and it looped as expected however the only way I could think to put a wait for a period of time before another email is sent is by actually counting down the time in a method.
However, the problem with this is that wf-batch is locking the worklfow so it can never complete, even if the event to complete the workflow is triggered.  wf-batch has it locked so the workflow can never complete, so it loops infinitely.
So my question.. is it possible to repeatedly send notifications to a manager at specifically defined time intervals without locking the workflow?
Below is how the workflow currently looks:
Any guidance on this would be most gratefully received!
    Thanks in advance,
    Liz.

    Hi Liz
in your wait step, do not count down the time.
Instead keep the method as a dummy method with no code.
In the wait step, use the deadline monitoring - Requested Start - set it to current date + 1 day
The step will start 1 day after 'today' , execute nothing in Dummy method and then go on to the mail step
I am sure that the deadline monitoring job is running because "Latest End" of the first task is executed in your system. So the same job will take care of Requested Start of the wait step.

    Modak

  • PB G4 Battery only charges for 5 mins at a time

I am using a replacement battery for my PB (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-PowerBook-15-inch-Aluminium-M9756GA/dp/B001EUSKC 0).
It worked fine for about 1 month.
Now the 'Full Charge Capacity' is reporting incorrectly (as 65,000 rather than 4,400) & it only charges for 5mins and then stops. I can get it to start again by removing the battery and re-inserting. I have managed to fully charge the battery with this method. The base of the powerbook is very hot most of the time which might be a problem. I have tried resetting the PMU. I can't recalibrate. It also powers off without warning. This problem started with the first battery. I am working abroad without much access to Mac hardware support.
    Any ideas appreciated, thank you.

That is an error value indicating a defective battery. Can't be healed though calibration, resetting, or incantations. You need to work with the vendor to obtain a replacement,
Not to mention that cycle count above 500.  I would reset the PMU once just to eliminate a glitch there, but that battery is definitely suspect.

The Utility transferred all of the AE's settings, so I still have to change the password, which leaves me with only 2 other questions, I think:
    1)  I assume it's just a matter of using the Utility, entering a stronger password and checking for it to be remembered in Keychain Access.  But do I have to  change the password for each individual unit-- the TC, the Extreme and both Expresses-- or will changing it just for the TC alone work for the entire network?
Resetting the password you will need to do for each device... the utility cannot even see those old units.
So you will have to do it for each one.. think it through.. because as you change passwords the others will lose connection.. so start from the express which are wireless extending .. change those first.. and go back up the chain.. as each one changes it will drop off the network.. until you reach extreme and change that. Then you might need to reboot the whole network to get everything talking again. If something goes wrong.. just pluck that one out of the mix and plug in ethernet.. reset and redo the setup. That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.
    2)  Who's the treasonous SOB who spilled the beans to you about the ICBM in my back yard?!?
    N.Korean hackers.
[Edit] Whoops-- one more question:  I want to partition the TC's disk, but Disk Utility doesn't see it.  What do I need to do?
You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).
    Look at Q3 here.

Mixing TM and data on the TC is worth planning carefully. They don't necessarily sit happily together.

  • Disabled mpxio only for I/O backup

    Hi,
I have an issue related slow backup performance,
Based on recommendation :  mpxio does not requires enabled for tape connection
In the list paths below :
    #luxadm -e port
    /devices/pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0/fp@0,0:devctl        CONNECTED   --> tape connection
    /devices/pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0,1/fp@0,0:devctl      CONNECTED --> disk connection
    /devices/pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0/fp@0,0:devctl        CONNECTED  -->disk connection
    /devices/pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0,1/fp@0,0:devctl      NOT CONNECTED
mpxio have been enabled when executed using stmsboot command except the following path only for tape  :
    /devices/pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0/fp@0,0:devctl
    or
    root@eccprod-DRC#grep /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pc /kernel/drv/fp.conf
    name="fp" parent="/pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@8/SUNW,qlc@0" port=0 mpxio-disable="yes";
    Means:
there is a existing one hba card with dual fc port which connected to each connection, one connection for tape and other for storage
    My question:
    1.  is this caused that the tape and storage connected at one hba ?
    2.  whether the tape should have a dedicated connection in one hba card ?
    Need your suggestion
    Best Regards
    -jodi

    Hi.
Disable MPXIO pon port for tapes - It's normal.
Disk and Tapes on same HBA on different ports - not should cause any problems.
You say about low performance but not show any informwation about perfomance.
iostat -xnz 5 5 at time of backup can give more usefull information.
    Regards.

I have an epson xp600 and a mac book pro. Wireless printing is OK if I'm lucky for one time only then a 'failed to connect' message so I have to delete and re add the printer to get it working again (but just once!) then the same occurs. Why?

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem.
