Disappearing Shapes/images/type in Preview Mode: InDesign CC

Having issues of parts of my designs "disappearing" when toggling from Normal to Preview Screen Modes. Everything is intact when in Normal Screen Mode. However, certain shapes/lines/type/images will not be visible in Preview Screen Mode or exporting of any kind.
Please help if you have any insight - this is driving me crazy!
Thanks,
Carrie

Sounds most likely that they are on a non-printing layer or have been set not to print at the object level in the Attributes panel. The other possibility is they are using a blending mode that would cause them to disappear against a background, or they might be white objects created in Illustrator which allows the overprinting of White if the color was changed from something else set to overprint (ID is smart enough not to do that).

  • Dragging a single image from mac Preview to InDesign CS6 doesn't work but 2 or more images does?

I usually take anywhere form 2500 to 5000 photos in any single day's session. Because of this, I need an easy way to sort through them and grab just the one's I need to import to my InDesign "book". I have been using CS3 for years now, and what I always did was open up Preview on my Mac to browse all my days photos. Then when I found a good one, I would simply drag that single image over to my opened InDesign screen and just drop it into a page. I would then go back to Preview and continue this procedure until I had looked through all the days images. I could even drag multiple images over and once I was over InDesign I can just click each image and pop them into various pages with ease. Then I upgraded to CS6 and I've hit a kink in the works. When I drag over a single image to InDesign, before I drop it into the page my mouse pointer looks like 3 tiny paste images (the little rectangle with the folded down upper left corner). If I release my mouse to drop the image into InDesign, it just flys back to Preview and doesn't drop into InDesign. Now if I get 2 or more images from Preview, this process works just like it always did. But 1 single image... never. I've tried holding down command, shift, control, option, and combos of those buttons to see if anything changes and it never does. I always get the mouse icon with 3 little paste icons. In CS3 if I dragged a single image it would only show 1 paste icon and 3 icons if I dragged 2 or more, but not in CS6. Is there a setting I'm missing or a preference? I've tried looking through everything that I can find to no avail. There has to be a way??? Thanks!

  • Data Disappears from Line Chart in Preview Mode

Help! Line chart data present in design mode, but disappears when in preview mode.  I have a dashboard that I update monthly.  Simple line charts.  Now, the line chart data is visible while in the design view, but does not show up when in the preview view or even when converting it to a PDF or Powerpoint.  SWF issue?  Inputs are needed!
    Thanks,
    Stan

    Hi Stan,
The answer to, why the data disappears in runtime mode, depends on how you retrieve the data in your dashboard.
It seems that you have some sample static data in your spreadsheet that shown in design mode. But chances are that this data is set to be overwritten in runtime mode, if you import your data using QAAWS, Live Office or similar.
I would suggest you to add a "spreadsheet table" component (found in the bottom of the Selectors category in the components browser) to your dashboard. Set the spreadsheet table to display some of the cells in the spreadsheet that you expect to get populated during runtime.
In this way you can verify if data is actually present in the relevant cells during runtime.
By the way - this is also a best practice method to test data-retrieval in Xcelsius.
    I hope this helps.
    Kind Regards,

  • Pixelated images when in preview mode on iMovie, but when I pause it the images become clear. How do I fix this?

I just bought the latest version of iMovie and I am on 10.9.4. I transferred my slideshow from the old iMovie to the new one and almost all the pictures become pixelated when in preview mode. Yet when I pause it, the picture becomes clear. What do I do? It's driving me insane!

After more attemps at cropping Im noticing that the saved version is unzoomed, so if I move the zoom bar just a tad the image becomes instantly sharp. But sadly that doesnt help me because iphoto will only let me save it and post it online as the unsharp pixulated version. Can anyone please help me!

  • Imported images clip in Preview mode

When I preview a layout several of the images either disappear or are cropped. I have an example of the cropping in these screenshots. This is happening in multiple files.

Another example. Note the "smoke " is cropped in preview, and the "man" disappears.

  • Type shift between design mode and preview mode in Muse.

My type shifts / moves positions between design and preview modes. It then justifies differently in differnet Web Browsers. This mean I end up positioning things incorrectly in design mode to accommodate the error when published. I am using the Droid Sans Websafe font from Typekit but it doesn't seem to matter which font is used as the bug still occurs. See the attached images; the left is in Design and the other in Preview. See how the formatting shifts within the software. Also the weight of the headline FORDNESS changes slighlty. On other pages, this headline shifts a few pixels across and down. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Text layout and rendering varies from browser-to-browser (and between Muse Design and Preview modes). This may come as a suprise if you have a Print background, but is the reality of the web medium. I'll point you to some previous forum posts that may be instructive.

  • Images are not loading - but work in Preview mode

    Hi -
I was wondering if anyone can help me.  I'm kind of new to Dreamweaver and I can't seem to figure this out on my own.
I'm using Dreamweaver 8.  I developed a web page based on a template in which everything works perfectly in "Preview" mode on all browsers.  But when I uploaded the files to my remote hosting, the template based images (found in the "images" folder) are not loading on the page. The images that I added to the template myself, found in the same "images" folder ($200,000 in ..., and picture at bottom) are loading.  So some of the images in the images folder are loading some are not.
I've checked the Images folder on the remote site, and they all seem to be there.  I've also checked for broken links, and I'm not getting any (I don't know if that would help w/ missing images or not, but I'm trying everything I can think of).  I also checked to see if there is a separate CSS style sheet, and there wasn't one supplied with the template (there is some CSS info in the code on the html page).  The image sizes are all small enough as well.  Can anyone help me with this?
You can view one of the pages at: http://www.200kin5months.com/squeeze-video.html
Thank you in advance to anyone who might be able to help!
    Stacey
PS - I've attached a screenshot from Dreamweaver Preview to show what it is supposed to look like.

Your Web server is running on an operating system that is case-sensitive. You appear to have uploaded an Images folder, but not an images folder.
You do not have a file here:
    images/squeeze-video_425x344_r9_c6.jpg
But you do have a file here:
    Images/squeeze-video_425x344_r9_c6.jpg
So you'll need to either change all your image/<whatever> links to point to Images/<whatever>, or upload another folder named images.
Or, if you want to use a single folder, and if your local file system is not case-sensitive, you might be able to do it in DW's file panel. Here is a method that you might use to have all of them in a folder named images.
    BACK UP YOUR SITE FILES
Rename Images to Foo (allow DW to update links)
Rename Foo to images (allow DW to update links)
Upload the images folder and any/all files that DW changed
    Delete the online Images folder

  • No images in preview mode.

For no apart reason, this one time when I was editing my website for the first time that day, the preview mode no longer shows images, backgrounds or text in the correct don't. This however does all work correctly in design and in browser after exporting. Any ideas as to what's happened and how to fix it?

    Hi
is it possible to attach few screenshot showing the muse preview, that will help.
    Thanks

  • Objects disappear in preview mode

I am using InDesign CS3. I have placed drawings from Illustrator CS3 on a page and also have text on the page. When I work in normal viewing mode I can see all the text and drawings. When I go to preview mode all of the objects are not visible (text and drawings). I have checked this on other files and I do not have the problem on any of my other InDesign files.
I have also made sure that Window > Attributes does not have any of the objects set to nonprinting.
Does anyone know what I have selected to make this occur?
Thanks so much for your help.
    Cathy

Go back to Illustrator and check the attributes there. Also check to
make sure you haven't placed them on a non printing layer.

  • Why do images change position in preview mode?

Everything looks perfect in my design mode - when i try to preview or publish the images and graphics move to different positions! Anyone know why this is?

Thanks for your reply! The first image is the design mode where everything is in the correct place. As you can see in the second one the images and grey bar at the bottom goes wonky !! You can also see this here: http://qasystemstest.businesscatalyst.com/management-team.html
    Any idea why this happens??

  • The type inside the footer drops down 50 px below the bottom of page in preview mode. I already tried unchecking the sticky footer in the site properties for that master page.

I need to fix this footer text on the home page. The type on the master page is centered inside a white 50px box. But in preview mode, the line of text drops 50px down below the bottom of page. I unchecked the sticky footer in the site properties and also set the line of text as footer item. The setting was the same on my second master and it comes out fine.

    Hi
The "content" div is styled to have 100px height and visible overflow. So the text is overflowing the div but the footer is  "unaware" / ingoring it and positions itself after "sidebar2"
Change the height of "content" to 100% and it should work.

  • My multi-state object disappear's when I export to PDF but works in Preview mode?

I created a multi-state object which is a series of logos that appear when a button is clicked. There are two buttons one is set to go the the previous state and one is set to go to the next state. When I view it in the preview mode it works fine but when I export it to PDF nothing happens when I click the buttons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Multi-state objects are NOT supported in PDF. The PDF standard preceded the development of multi-state objects. It's now under the control of the ISO so may be slow to adapt.
They work when exporting to SWF or with the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.

I recently upgraded to version mentioned above. I can see the data for the values in the chart in design mode but the chart does not show up in preview mode or exported formats.
    Thoughts?

    Hello
I upgraded to SAP Dashboard Design but face the same problem. I had traces of Office 2007 in 2 systems and removing it  and repairing office 2010 did help resolve the problem in one machine but not the other. Still looking for a work around.

  • Type display issue in Preview mode

The font I am using does not display in iBooks Author preview mode on the iPad. Is there a restriction as to what typefaces can be used?

The restriction applies to fonts that are supported on iOS and your iPad w/iBooks 2.
Thus is matters not which fonts you install on your Mac. You are obligated to work off of the list of fonts that iBA makes available to you. If you bring in content that uses other fonts, iBA will make substitutions.
When devs code iOS apps, they can apply additional font support, so perhaps this will be an iBA feature in the down the road. As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ibooks-author.html

  • Preview mode : 100% of the size/screen, no black margin

Let's say my screen is 1280x800 (rather small)
I make my inDesign document 1280x800 px
If i turn preview mode on (shift+W), the image showed will not fit the screen but will be a lilltle bit smaller by some pixels.
And of course if i added bleed, then the size shown is document+bleed+somepixels.
on my 1920x1200 screen (with 1920x1200 doc), i have a 7px vertical and 10px horizontal black margin.
Is there a way to make it disappear and have 0px margin, 100% of the screen used, etc (great for demos, recordings, slideshows with inDesign…) ?
