Discoverer 4i into 9i database which contains view into 10g database

Hello,
Would it work if I use Discoverer 4i into a 9i database which contains views to tables in 10g database? Thank you.

Hi,
Yes, if you have a database link from your 9i database to your 10g database then you will be able to view data from the 10g database. If you SQL that will work in SQLplus then it will also work in Discoverer.

    I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text  or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

    The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

  • HOW TO CREATE A VIEW WHICH CONTAINS A PARAMETER

    Hi all
    I am trying to create a view which contains paramaters.
    Lets assume that the view may look like this:
    STEP 1:
    CREATE OR REPLACE procedure Myproc(v_count in NUMBER) as
    BEGIN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
    'CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW myview AS
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DUAL WHERE ROWNUM like '''||v_count||'%'' ';
    END myproc;
    SHOW ERRORS;
    Procedure created.
    Elapsed: 00:00:00.31
    SQL> SHOW ERRORS;
    No errors.
    STEP 2:
    SQL> EXEC Myproc(2);
    BEGIN Myproc(2); END;
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00998: must name this expression with a column alias
    ORA-06512: at "MYUSERNAME.MYPROC", line 3
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Elapsed: 00:00:00.16
    It seems that doesn't really likes the third line: "EXECUTE IMMEDIATE".
    Can I get any help with this one ?
    Thank-you
    Robert

    Bear in mind that VIEWs are not supposed to be parameterised. That is why Nature gave us a WHERE clause. However, there is one, albeit slightly clunky, way of doing it....
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_view AS
      2  SELECT * FROM scott.emp
      3  WHERE deptno = sys_context('userenv','client_info')
      4  /
    View created.
    SQL>
    SQL>
    SQL> exec dbms_application_info.set_client_info(10)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM emp_view
      2  /
         EMPNO ENAME      JOB              MGR HIREDATE         SAL       COMM
        DEPTNO

  • How to display a view which contain interactive form in an external window

    Anyone know how to display a view which contain interactive form in an external window?
    I managed to display the view in an internal window with the following code:
    IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = (IWDWindowInfo)wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("PdfReportWin");
    IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createWindow( windowInfo, true);
    For external window, I tried this method : wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow(String URL, String title, boolean modal) but there are no parameter for view name?
    Maybe this is not the correct way, really appreaciate if anyone can help.

    Hi,
                U need to the following
               1.Create another window
               2.Create a view in it tat contains Interacive form element.
               3. call this window dynamically thru the first window by creating a context element of IWDWindow  type
    The code may help:
      IWDWindowInfo windowInfo =(IWDWindowInfo) wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("SearchEmpwind");
          IWDWindow window = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getWindowManager().createWindow(windowInfo, true);
          window.setWindowPosition(WDWindowPos.CENTER);
          window.setWindowSize(400, 250);
          window.open();
          wdContext.currentContextElement().setEmpSearchWind(window);

  • Save/Open dialog crashes on opening a folder which contains multiple app. alias

    Hi:
    This is my first post in Apple forum, I've been searching some pages here, obviously I'm not the only one having this (or similar) problem but all existing threads are suggesting "Safe Mode" or "Disk Util" these useless things and never worked for me.
    I believe this is a bug from os x / Finder, not sure if this has been filed or not against Apple bug db.
    The problem:
    Save/Open dialog hangs up when loading / opening an existing folder which contains multiple application alias
    How to reproduce:
    1) Use any browser (I use Firefox and Chrome) to open a page and  print the page / or download something, or print something as PDF
    2) When Save dialog ( some people call it file picker or location selector, whatever) pops up, select a folder which contains multiple application alias
    3) Dialog hangs up, and the application icon on those  alias will not be loaded successfully. Need to Force Quit the browser.
    4) Issue cannot be reproduced always, but frequently enough if you have many application alias and files / subfolders in the target folder
    5) By removing all the application alias, can workaround the issue.
    6) The icons of application on those alias are loaded slowly in a successful loading (seems there are some performance issues)
    7) This issue has not been observed before upgrading to Mavericks
    Env:
    27 inch iMac Late 2012, 2.9GHz i5, 8G DDR3, NVIDIA GTX660M 512M, OS X 10.9.1
    Please anybody (not sure if Apple monitors this community) who knows details in regards to this, share some info. (or maybe there already is a fix ? ) .
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Lyle.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Need help - How to load data which contains \r\n

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement wherein we need to load the data from a .dat file, with fields separated by | symbol and the line separator specified as '\r\n'
    INFILE '/scratch/xyz/abcd.dat' "STR '\r\n'"
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    Can you please help us load data which contains multiple lines in a single field to a database table field , keeping the line separator in ctl file as '\r\n' itself.
    When we try bringing the '\r\n' within a text field enclosed in "" , the '\r\n' , sqlldr considers it as the end of that record and not as a data which needs to go into a column.
    One option we have is to have the extraction process create the data in such a way that the fields with multiple lines , be brought in the .dat file enclosed in "" as
    "Test
    "|8989|abcd
    where the new line in the first field is just '\n' .
    Is there any other way in which the requirement can be addressed.

    Thanks,

    In addition, you would need to know the character set encoding of the csv files (e.g. the code page used).
    Basically you need to have the facts about both client (csv file) and database character set.
    As suggested, use the available documentation - it's there to help you!

  • How to read a line from a file which contains 45000 characters?

    Hi all,
         Iam a receiving a .CSV file which contains n number of rows ,each row has a data seperated with delimiter.
    These values based on delimiter it is seperated and certain validations are handled.
    Iam using UTL_FILE.GET_LINE operator to read the value and store it in a variable which is declared as l_text VARCHAR2(30000).
    when we receive a line which contains huge characters say 45000 then it throws an error(Unable to read the file).
    Only on rare cases we used to receive these kind of files with huge size.
    Kindly help to solve this issues.

    Hi Siva,
    Are you trying to use data from this .csv file into your realtion tables. If yes and If you are using 11g Oracle database. I would suggest you create External Tables using the below query,
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-mar/o21nanda-312277.html
    STEP1: You need a Directory where your SCHEMA has read/write access. Store the csv file in that directory.
    STEP2: Create an EXTERNAL Table script. Please refer the above URL. Examples are for coma delimiter (,); replace it with your pipe (|) in the code
    STEP: Once your external table is created you can simply create a relational table as below:
    CREATE  TABLE relation_table
      AS
    SELECT * FROM external_table;

  • How to display an HTML data which contains images in CR

    Hi Experts,
    I have a HTML file which contains images and text. I will store all this data in to the database as binary data(SQL server 2008). How can I display the whole  data in report.
    Thanks in advance,
    Salah

    hello all,
    most times when HTML is stored in a database there are many tags that will not work. the tags that will work are very basic and limited to the formatting types that you can do within a Text Object...so not much.
    if you need all of the HTML from a database interpreted, you need to activate pass-through html on your system. then if you put the field into a formula (one line in height) the HTML should be properly displayed. for more info on activating pass-through html see the beginning of the Users Guide for webelements that is in the main download [here|Crystal Reports webElements].
    please note that there are some major limitations in this method:
    1) you cannot print the html displayed when using the print button on the crystal reports toolbar as it will show up as text...you can try the browsers print functionality to see if that works for you
    2) you can not export the report and see the html displayed...it will show up as text
    3) pagination may not work for you...i.e. if you have an especially long section of html in your database, the page may not break where you want it to
    best of luck,
    jamie

    when I try to render report contains subreports from first time is not rendered but when i select regresh button the input screen is promb again and then i fill all input again and submit, as a result the report was rendered.

  • How to put a report which contains code for  BDC in background

    Hello Experts ,
    Please provide your valuable opinions on following issue,
    My BDC execution is taking longer time and it gives time out error. To avoid this problem i have created a separate report which l contains the BDC code (Call transaction ) and  i have put this report for background execution. But upon doing this My BDC code is not performing the transaction call which it was performing when it was executed individually.  In sm37 it shown the job that i am creating but nothing is actually happening as a result of transaction call.
    The code that i have written is :
    RFC code
    SUBMIT ZREPORT AND RETURN.
    RFC end
    Z_REPORT .
    PERFORM open_job.
    PERFORM get_print_parameters.
    PERFORM job_submit. here in Submit i have specified the another report name(zbdcreport) which contains the actual logic for bdc
    PERFORM job_close.
    Report END.
    zbdcreport
    The call transaction is as follows :
    ( CALL TRANSACTION TCODE USING BDCDATA
                         MODE   'N' "CTUMODE "N
                         UPDATE 'S' "CUPDATE "S
                         MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB .)
    end zbdcreport
    Can anybody provide the reason for the error .

  • How could I find which i-views/pages are being used

    Hello
    I am pritty new in portal area. I have to administrate an ESS/MSS portal during hollydays. I am trying to find everywhere the way.
    How could I find which i-views/pages are being used. Let say I can see which group I belong and which roles are behind.
    How could I know in which PCD folder they are taken into account (to e.g give permission to someone not in the group)

    HI,
    the user administration (UME) gives you the information about the user <-> group <-> role assignment.
    When you know the role, search in the PCS for it, open the role and you will see all the pages / iviews assigned to the role.

  • Java class names which contain unicode characters

    I need to create, compile and load java classes which have class names that contain unicode characters.
    I am using Win2k but will neet to support unix* in future.
    When I try to create a fooXbar.jar where X is a unicode character which is not ascii I get an error when creating the file.
    My question is: how do I map java class names and package names which contain non ascii characters into
    names that the files systems will like AND that the java VM will use when trying to load .class file from the class path.
    for example what would the .java and .class file be for the following class?
    class \u6587\u66f8 {

    You could make names for .java and .class that is understandable by the filesystem. E.g. you could prepend with % and then digits for the unicode character. The problem is then how to compile the class, and how to load the class.
    You can load the class with a custom classloader, which will translate the unicode class name to the escaped file name (using %).
    The problem is then reduced to how you can compile your code (you have to map the file name to the class name somehow). I think it can be done, but I don't know the solution to that.
    Alternatively you can use meaningful names for the classes, and then make an obfuscator that can change the bytecodes so the classnames are changed to some obscure unicode names. Perhaps there is already obfuscators out there you can use that will use unicode characters.

  • How to call a Oracle Proc,which contains Object Type as in Param, from java

    Hi
    Would like to know how to call a Oracle Procedure which contains the Object Type Parameter from java.
    Here is my code will look like...
    1. CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE emp AS OBJECT
    Empno NUMBER,
    Ename VARCHAR2(50)
    [COLOR=royalblue]In step1 I have created object type.[COLOR]
    2.CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE ref_pkg IS
    TYPE tab_emp IS TABLE OF emp;
    END ref_pkg;
    [COLOR=royalblue]In step2,I have created a table type which is of type emp;[COLOR]
    3. CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE p_emp(p_emptab IN ref_pkg.tab_emp) as
    BEGIN
    FOR I IN 1..p_emptab.COUNT
    LOOP
    Some code written here
    END LOOP;
    END;
    [COLOR=royalblue]In step3 I have passed tabletype which is of type emp as argument.[COLOR]
    Now I need to invoke this procedure from JAVA.
    Calling a procedure doesnt matter.
    But how I can map objecttype ? how will java recognize oracle object ?
    How can I implement this ?
    Any Help/Clues is Appreciated.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi Bob
    You can call a stored proc from a database control with the jc:sql annotation itself.
    Assume a stored proc taking one In parameter
    * @jc:sql statement="call sp_updateData({id})"
    void call_sp_updateCust(int id);
    You can even call stored proc with OUT parameters using
    * @jc:sql statement="{call sp_MyProc(?, ?)}"
    void call_sp_MyProc(SQLParameter[] params)
    You can also call stored functions via db control.
    More info and diff ways to call at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/controls/database/conStoredProcedures.html
    Thanks

  • Which table/view has the schema details?

    Hi All,
    In which table/view I can view the different schemas present in the database? Should I sign-in as SYS or any user can read from that table?
    Please help...
    Thanks in advance...

    DBA_USERS will tell you the users that have been created in the database. Some or all of those users may have objects in their schemas, which you can see via DBA_OBJECTS.
    You don't need to be a DBA to query those views, but you do need appropriate privileges. Depending on your Oracle version, you'd need either the SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE role, the SELECT ANY DICTIONARY privilege, or a direct privilege grant on the particular views you're interested in.
