Discoverer EUL for mutilple PROD database -- USER duplicates

I currently have an EUL that is using a database instance (PROD) but in the near future I will be needing to also use (preferably in same EUL tables) TWO other production database instances.
There may be DUPLICATE database user accounts between the THREE database instances; how does one handle this ?

Hi,
The reason the report fails with "Item dependency not found in EUL " error is most likely because the user does not have access to one of the business areas in the EUL or user in the database does not have access to a table/view or function used in the EUL. Is the EUL a database or Apps EUL? Check that the user can access all the EUL folders and items that are used in the report.
The users' settings such as fan trap detection are held in the PC registry and so usually not overwritten by a re-install.

  • Error while creating standby database for ebs prod database

    Hi,
We are getting error while trying to create a standby database for EBS database by using RMAN DUPLICATE commands,
    Steps followed:
1.) Backup the primary database (Ebs PROD db). This was done on 12-Mar-2012
***RMAN backups are scheduled to run @10:00 pm every night. Flash Recovery Area has been configured and backup is taken at this location
    everyday.
2.) Tar the backupset, autobackup, archivelogs etc in FRA .... and copy this to the target server (STANDBY).
*** Copy(oracle rdbms binaries and FRA) completed @12:00AM on 14-Mar-2012
3.) Tried to create standby database by using RMAN duplicate on 14-Mar-2012
    RMAN> rman sys/sys@PROD auxiliary /
    RMAN> duplicate target database for standby dorecover nofilenamecheck;
After, some time the RMAN DUPLICATE process errors out with,
ORA-19563: header validation failed for file
We are not sure about the cause of this error. While searching in Metalink, we got several notes (ex, 352074.1) but all the causes stated for this error
are not applicable in our case. We double checked our instance to confirm this.
We have also found that in PROD database there are 65 datafiles and after the RMAN DUPLICATE errors out in the targer server (STANDBY) the RMAN managed to restore 51 datafiles before erroring out.
    # Please note PROD database was also backed up on 13-Mar-2012. We have a suspicion that backup on 13-Mar may be a possible cause for this error but we are
    not sure.
Need suggestions if there can be any other possible causes???
We are in a fix and it would be appreciable if we get some quick suggestions..

When opening the file to be placed in a copy or backup set, to be inspected, or used as the target for an incremental restore, its header was not recognized as a valid file header for a file of the indicated type (data file, archived log, or control file) belonging to the current database.
Kindly Ensure that the correct files are being specified for the copy or backup operation.

  • 11G Modplsql Basic Authentication not working for globally identified database users

I have a modplsql dad that uses Basic authentication.  When I supply a username and password where the database user is locally defined in the database using the "identified by" syntax the authentication works perfectly and the modplsql app works.  When I try to authenticate a database user that is defined in the database using the "identified globally" syntax authentication fails.  Any idea on how to get modplsql app to work with users identified via OID?

  • MGMT$ view for a complete database users list?

    Hi,
Is there a MGMT$ view that lists all the users that exist on every database?
eg. mgmt$db_datafiles has a list of all the datafiles on every database. Is there a similar thing for users?
    Thanks in advance.

Enterprise Manager Extensibility Guide from Enterprise Manager Documentation in chapter 9 contains list of MGMT$ views. I dont think any of them list existing users in databases.

  • Discoverer 4.1.33 report fails Item dependency not found in EUL for 1 user

I support Discoverer 4.1.33 installed on number of Windows XP sp3 PCs.
Oracle database on Server is 10g.
We have a number of Discoverer programs/reports that have been running for years.
A particular program sales order report works fine for several users of Discoverer 4.1.33
but for one user the report fails with "Item dependency not found in EUL " error.
I matched the Discoverer settings for that 1 user with the others such as
Disable FanTrap Detection, disk cache and Memory cache big - 40 gig,
connect to standard EULs, and other similar settings. Standard TNSnames.ora.
The report fails on the one user's PC. It is a larger report maybe a thousand lines
but not huge. I uninstalled Discoverer 4.1.33 and legacy Oracle 8.0.6 on users PC.
Re-installed all. Curiously the Discoverer settings did not not go back to default but
stayed as previously set and reports fails.
Question: Is Windows Users profile folders used at all? I didn't think it was.
Why did the Discoverer settings not go back to default?
I cleared and deleted the entire Oracle folder with Discoverer in it!
May be the key to why Discoverer program/report fails.
    Any help appreciated,

  • Discoverer 4i EUL on 10g v2 database

    Hello,
Has anyone created Discoverer 4i EUL on 10g v2 database? Thank you.

Discoverer 4i is now completely desupported, the last certified database version for it was 9.2. Discoverer (9.0.2 and higher) is now part of the Application Server Suite and runs with 10g.

  • ERD for Discoverer EUL tables

Does anyone know if Oracle supplies an ERD for the Discoverer EUL tables. I would like to have such a thing to generate reports about system use etc.

    Hi Russ
    How are you doing?
I'm afraid Oracle considers that to be proprietary information and is concerned over folks being able to reverse engineer the product hence they won't give away the inner workings of the EUL.
However, they did allow me to publish some of the workings in my Discoverer 10g Handbook which are printed in Appendix A.
In reality, if folks get hold of and install the EUL5 end user layer that is supplied on the Discoverer Admin CD it is not too hard to decipher most of what is going on.

  • How to setup database user for windows NT SSO

    Hi,
We have a scenario where we have to setup a database user so that SSO can be worked in windows environment.
We have oracle 10g installed on UNIX server. Now we want to setup a autosys user which will also be a winows user for eg by the name kumaral and domain (which is Logon option in windows) will be FM, so eventually user name will be FM\kumaral. Autosys will be on windows machine and we have installed oracle client on this machine.
On oracle database we have created two user by following syntax:
    (1) CREATE USER "OPS$FM\KUMARAL" IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    (2) CREATE USER "OPS$FM\kumaral" IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
Also we have provided connect grant to these users.
    GRANT CONNECT TO "OPS$FM\KUMARAL".
    GRANT CONNECT TO "OPS$FM\kumaral".
I am login in windows through FM\kumaral user, but we are not able to connect to oracle through this user, we are trying to connect to oracle from below mentioned query:
    sqlplus /
but we are not able to connect.
Can someone please help me on this?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Discoverer EUL Workbooks - Query Statistics, Workbooks Queried By User

    Hi there.
I've just ran Discoverer EUL workbooks and found out a nice functionality on one of those queries. It's on EUL Query Statistics workbook, "Workbooks Queried By User" worksheet (and others).
If you take a look at the "Worksheet Usage" column, you'll notice that there's an effect that looks a lot like a "progress bar". According to the times that worksheet was used, this bar advances or retract.
I noticed it's a calculated column, but when I try to edit it, it shows no more than COUNT_DISTINCT("Date & Sheet"). I got a little confused on how this COUNT_DISTINCT shows that "progress bar"....
So... how can I implement this on my DM queries?
    TIA.

You need Desktop. When you format the data, there is a check box to show graphical bars. This option is not available in Plus, but the bars will show up when the report is displayed in Plus.

    Hi,
While launching OIM Bulk load utility, all steps are correctly executed but when java driver is called, I always got the same message:
Enter password for OIM database user again :
And I never got menu #2.
    Thank you for your help.
Is there any way to set it as parameter to the java program?

Basically twice you have to provide the correct DB password. are you using ojdbc5.jar in the lib folder?
you can set the password in oim_blkld_db_input.sh/bat script (just update oimpwd=<Actual password> and remove other lines under getDbPswd() method)

  • How to Use Discoverer Desktop without Database User ?

    Hi,
I am new to Discoverer Desktop,
How to Use Discoverer Desktop without Database User ?
    Suresh

You'll need to have access to some sort of database account to use the tool. If you just loaded the tool onto a machine, Disco is not going to be useful - you need to create an end user layer, and business areas.
    I suggest you start here:

  • Minimum seeded database users for portal

We would like to obtain the usernames of the minimum number of database
users that can be used for the portal to function.
In addition to the portal schema, we will be having a custom
schema in our database. So we would like to determine what
is the minimum number of database users that are needed for the system.
    These would be:
    1. Seeded users that come with the portal database
(Is there a list of minimum database users that we can obtain from some
documentation that are needed - are all the seeded users absolutely required,
or can some of them be deleted? )
    2. The user for the custom schema. (this would be the only additional
user to the seeded users provided).
    Thanks,

  • Confussing between Database User and Application User in Discoverer

    Hi All,
    I am new to Discoverer.
Please let me know the difference between Database User and Application User in Discoverer Administrator as well as in Discoverer Desktop Editions.
    1) While I am trying to connect to Discoverer Desktop, I am unable to connect to it with Apps Database User.
    2) Where the Discoverer compenent will be installed and what the configuration settings need to done work on it.
Please let me know the answers soon.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hello
I think a database user should pretty much be self explanatory - this is a user account that exists in the database. This account is created by your Database Administrator (DBA).
The second kind of user that Discoverer understands is a user that exists inside Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), formerly known as Oracle Applications, hence an application user. This user account gets created by the EBS system administrator.
Now, just because you're using EBS, it does not automatically follow that users will be application users. Let me explain.
Discoverer can be installed in one of two modes, standard mode and Applications mode.
The vast majority of organizations use standard mode which means they allow database users to access the system.
The only time that you will need an applications account is under the following two rules:
    1. Your organization is using E-Business Suite, AND
    2. Your Discoverer administrator has installed Discoverer in Applications mode.
Applicatons mode does not happen automatically, even if you have EBS, and you cannot install that mode by accident. You have to tell Discoverer that it is operating in that mode, provide some additional EBS account information, make security assignments and set users have to deliberately tell Discoverer they want to connect using an applications account.
May I suggest you get hold of a copy of the Oracle Discoverer 10g Handbook that I wrote. That book explains in detail the differences between the modes. I also have a free white paper on my website that describes how to install Discoverer into Applications mode.
    I hope this helps
    Best wishes
