Disk utility- can't apply change to disk partition
I deleted the data on my bootcamp drive. When I resized the main hard drive the capture the freed up space, the "apply" button remained greyed out.
Disk Utility is not able to work with a BootCamp partition
In all likelihood you are going to have to completely reformat the disk drive back to a single partition again.
Of course since that destroys everything on the disk backup first.
Then install everything from scratch on the reformatted disk.

PL/SQL problem with too many lines - can not apply changes
I have a complex PL/SQL that requires checking 90 check boxes and the query works to a certain point then it just stops being able to be saved (apply changes) after a high no. of lines has been typed in. (The PL/SQL query is to check against a file, that the file has all the check boxes as yes. If there is only 1 or 2 boxes checked, then the sql created only checks those 2 fields for yes.) Is there a way to increase the coding space (or number of lines) that APEX can save/use.
This is the whole PL/SQL coding. At this point, we cannot add any more lines or it will come up with "web page cannot be found" message.

Newbie: how can I apply changes?!
Hello, using Windows version.
I'm a newbie in photo editing..so, I just selected a folder, photos appeared and I started modifying them, say correcting red eyes and the like.
Then nowhere I found a way to apply changes to the folder I was working in!
I closed the program and I wasn't asked anything; I went to the pics folder and they were untouched O.o
I re-opened Lightroom and I saw the changes O.o
..so simply..where are my modified pics? Can I set lightroom to directly modify them in the folder I'm working in?
Thanks a lot for your help and sorry if my question seems stupid :/The changes you made in Lightroom aren't visible in other picture viewers until you EXPORT the image in LR to a TIF, PSD, JPG... Doing this preserves your original image and the exported copy will show the result of your edits.

Can't apply changes in SRM-MDM UI APP
Hi all.
When I make changes in MDM_SRM_UI_App, they don't apply on catalog interface.
for example: I add new field to view of shoping card in MDM_SRM_UI_App. Then I logon to SRM and searching new position in my MDM catalog. But I didn't see new added field in grid.
Restart of JAVA didn't help.
version of srm-mdm is the latest: SRM-MDM Catalog 1.0 SP01 Patch00 Hotfix 01I know this post of yours is old, but we are having the same issue. We have a message out to SAP, but they cannot figure it out.

How can you change the primary partition in Disk Utility?
I have made another partition using Disk Utility to install Snow Leopard. On my main partition Lion is installed but when i boot into Snow Leopard and try to delete the Lion partition it comes with an error "This operation requires a newer version of Mac OS X for this disk". I tried deleting the partition from Recovery HD but it says it couldn't unmount the disk.
Is this because Lion is the main partition, can you even delete the main partition?
And if I do delete the main partition will i be able to move the Snow Leopard partition "upwards" in Disk Utility?ralphfromhome wrote:

No, you need something to boot off of and remove all data off the internal drive that's going to be reformatted with a new parttion, that's why you use the free Carbon Copy Cloner, it does both in one shot and it "blesses" the drive to make it bootable.

It copies everything in your Snow Leopard partition to the external drive, files, programs the OS everything except whats in the Trash.
4) In your 8th step you mentioned repairing permissions on both. Both of what?
Both drives, the internal and the external clone in Disk Utility (ignore the long list that appears)
It's a safety check to make sure your permissions are set back to original settings, I think the newer version of CCC now does this, but I havent' checked, doesn't hurt to do it again.
5) If you still feel like typing can you tell me how long this whole process might take?
Formatting a external drive
You should Erase with Zero option first, that will take a hour per 500GB
Formatting shoud be rather fast, a few minutes.
Cloning Snow Leopard to the external drive should take about a hour per 500GB
Formatting the internal drive a zero erase first for safety should take another hour per 500GB
Reverse cloning Snow Leopard back onto the internal drive should take another hour per 500GB
Good thing about it, it's pretty much all ciick and go watch TV while it works.
I was actually planning to make a Genius Bar appointment to fix it, by the way does that cost much?
No idea, but you don't have to pay if you get a external drive for $70 or so, CCC is free.
You get to keep the external drive and use it later for cloning as hard drives die all the time, the clone would get you back to using the computer. -
After getting the dreaded gray/blue screen, I tried to run disk repair on the internal disk. I got an error message saying "Disk Utility can't repair this disk and restore your backed-up files. The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely." What do I do now? This is an iMac and I'm running 10.6.8.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it. See below for how to clone a drive.
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
You may be able to backup your data if you have an erased external drive you can use. Before you do the above but after you have opened Disk Utility you can try to clone your drive:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Open Disk Utility.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Now this will only work if the drive is accessible and can be cloned by Disk Utility. Otherwise, you would need to access your drive from another Mac that you can connect via Firewire - Target Disk Mode. -
Partition errors - "Disk Utility can't repair this disk"
I partitioned my external 1TB WD HD into two drives (950GB + 50GB) using Disk Utility (OS X Mavericks 10.9.1). However the 950GB partition will no longer mount. It is recognised in Disk Utility, but grayed out. "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk" in Disk Utility lead to the worrying error message "Disk Utility can't repair this disk."
From the Disk Utility logs, the initial partition was successful:
Partition 1:
Name: “Media Centre”
Size: 948.13 GB
File system: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Do not erase contents
Partition 2:
Name: “Media Centre 2”
Size: 50.03 GB
File system: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Do not erase contents
Mounting disk
Partition complete
Afterwards, I changed the name of the second partition “Media Centre 2” to "BOOTCAMP" (I was going to try to install Windows 7), but then changed my mind and tried to remove the second partition. At that point the log gives the error "Mount of “Media Centre” failed".
Partition 1 ("Media Centre") now seems to be in limbo, stuck as 950GB, and "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk" in Disk Utility lead to the worrying error message "Disk Utility can't repair this disk". Also in Disk Utility, Partition 1 ("Media Centre") now has the format classification "Mac OS Extended" rather than "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
Any idea how I can get my hard drive to mount and get the data back?In Disk Utility select the Top most entry on the left, the drive model and or manufacturer name and size entry, then click the Partition tab and Repartition it to your liking. If that fails the drive is bad.

'volume check failed', and disk utility can't fix it
I was planning to create a new bootable backup today and ran 'repair disk' from an install disk before cloning.
Unfortunately I grabbed a Panther disk by mistake, and only discovered it was the wrong disk as I took it out. By then, DU had run through the 'repair' - changing quite a few things - until it showed 'volume cannot be repaired'.
I've tried to correct them using DU from the Tiger install disk, but without any luck. DU shows:
+Invalid catalogue record type+
+Volume check failed+
+Error: the underlying task reported failure on exit+
+1 Volume could not be repaired because of an error+
My iBook still appears to be running perfectly, but obviously I need to repair the disk before I can clone it. Disk Utility can't do it - could DiskWarrior?
I'd really appreciate some advice on the options open to me, and the best way to do it.Success!
I powered down and ran DiskWarrior a 2nd time to rebuild the directory. This time I skipped the recommended Preview stage and went straight to confirming Rebuild. Everything now seems to be fine again. DU finds no faults with the disk, and the iBook feels significantly quicker and snappier.
Two things I learnt that might be helpful - the first is, it's easy to be careless for just a moment and end up in a time-consuming mess. It's the first time I've done it, and I won't be doing it again.
Second thing is, when people say DiskWarrior is slow to boot, they mean it - it took at least 10 minutes to show up on screen, which is unsettling. And the Preview stage, for me, was equally unnerving.
Still, it worked - superbly - all my data is intact, the iBook is overhauled and working faster than ever. -
Help needed. I have a 3TB external hard drive partitioned into 1TB's. I used one partition as backup for the main computer hard drive. But now it is greyed out as shown in the disk utility and its name changed, i dont know how that happened, i tried verifying and repairing it but had no luck. I also tried mounting and unmounting it but still no solution. Anyone to help please?
Looks bad. I would strongly advise backing up the stuff on the other two partitions as soon as possible in case the rest of the drive goes wrong.
Beyond that, Disk Utility has limited abilities to repair disks, DiskWarrior uses a different approach and might, emphasis might be more successful. It has certainly done the job for me in the past when Disk Utility could not.

IMac Finder cannot see external hard drive but Disk Utility can
I have a WD external hard drive and it has been attached to my iMac for a year or two. About two months ago I upgraded to Lion 10.7.5 and hard drive still worked. Then suddenly about a week ago the iMac no longer sees the external hard drive in Finder.
I have connected the hard drive to the iMac with different USB cables and into different ports and it makes no difference so deduce there is no issues with the cables or the ports. I have connected the hard drive to an old Macbook and it can see the harddrive and read some of the info but I really need the hard drive attached to the iMac as I store all my music and photos on the external hard drive.
I read another thread and someone asked if you can see the hard drive in Disk Utility. I tried this and Disk Utility can see the hard drive.
What does this mean? Any suggestions as to how to get the iMac to see the hard drive so I can access the data on it?
I dont really know how Disk Utility works therefore if that is any help to me.

I have been working on a project using an external hard disk. I used my Macbook Pro (2010) to create this project and files (about 31 GB). Now I am trying to open the disk on my iMac (2014) and it doesn't show up. I can see the HDD when I use disk utility but get this message when I try to repair/restore the disc:
"error disk utility can't repair this disk...disk and restore your backed-up files"
The funny thing is that the disk works absolutely fine with my Macbook Pro. What am I missing?

Can I fix a disk with this message?
Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.Some problems can indeed be fixed this way. But working from Recovery_HD or Disk Warrior DVDs and working in the restricted environment those provide can be difficult. You can literally spend days working on this problem (while your regular work is unavailable) only to discover the old drive is unsalvageable.
There is no way to know up front whether you are facing a major Hardware failure or a minor software glitch, or something in between. Often you are forced to work from the drive you no longer trust. I continue to recommend you do this work from a different, fully functioning Mac OS X booted from a different drive.
If you have had the foresight to (as The hatter often recommends) clone your virgin install onto another drive for use in such situations, you will be able to recover from such problems in record time. If not, my previous recommendations stands:
Buy a new Drive. Or two. Install Mac OS X from scratch on a new drive, and get your Mac running again. Later, you can use the full power of Mac OS X to attempt to rescue your data, if needed. Then Zero the old drive, to see if it can hold data again reliably.
If the old drive eventually provides some needed data, and is salvageable, Merry Christmas. -

Hello, my macbook crashed a few days a go as well and after going to the recovery drive and OX Utilities tried to verify and repair disk it gives me this error "Disk Utility can't repair this disk...and restore the backed up files" is the second time that occurs after replacing the hard drive for a new SSD, i thought my problem was solved and is not. Any Ideas? the only other thing i can think of is the logic board?
