Display Columns option reqd in report
Hello
I have created 1 report through report painter. This report is having around 14-15 columns.
I want to know wheather it is possible to create any variant as we do in Y reports so that
user can select the columns only those he wants to see.
Regards
Ashish
Hi Ashish,
Select the columns that are to be hide, right click and hide the column. Now go to Menu bar and click the report, there you can see save layout. click it.
You can save the layout in the report and create variant in the initial screen of the report.
Hope this may help you.
Regards,
Nag.

Display Columns from WBS and Activities in the same Report
Does anyone know how to display Columns from a WBS and an Activity together so that they can be output to Excel?
I need WBS Code, Actual Start, Actual Finish and Performance % Complete from the WBS and Activity Codes from Activities.
I can produce them in a report but this gives me all the activities in a heirarchical format which then necessitates deleting the activity lines in Excel
The Performance % complete which I want is available in Activities at the Summary Level but the Activity Codes are not at this level
I could put the Activity Codes in as Project Codes at the WBS level but this will require a lot of maintenance
Maybe someone knows an easy way to do this?

Your request interested me so I gave it the old college try. There are several ways to go about this task but here's one that is fairly quick and easy.
I carefully read your description of what you need from P6. I've built a test layout using the fields that you outlined. Here's what I came up with. This should bypass the issue of having to create a P6 export. My solution is to build a customized layout in P6 and copy that info and paste it into an Excel spreadsheet.+
Open P6
Open neccessary projects & open a new layout containing these columns:
....Project, WBS,Activity ID, Activity Name, Perf. %, & (any codes or user defined codes)
Group & Sort by: Project, WBS
....*Display Options* = "Show Group Totals" & "Show Summaries Only", Choose "OK"
....*Edit*, Select, All, Copy
Open Excel
....Paste Highlighted data into your new worksheet.
Hope this helps but it's usually hard to understand exactly what you need unless I can view your data,
Good Luck & let me know how it turns out,

How can i reorder the columns in the do not display section of the interactive report.
Hi,
My interactive report contains 185 columns, and the user requieres to build his customized reports with some columns, but the he gets lost between this amount of columns, this would be easier if the columns in the do not display section of the interactive report would be sorted automaticaly, Is this possible?
Thanks a lot,Hi Eva,
One solution would be to order the column names alphabetically. You can create a JavaScript dynamic action to handle the sorting.
The shuttle of the IR attribute "Select Columns" have the ID's "apexir_SHUTTLE_LEFT" or the Hidden colums and "apexir_SHUTTLE_RIGHT" for the displayed columns.
The function you'd need to create would look like:
var options = $('select#apexir_SHUTTLE_LEFT option');
var arr = options.map(function(_, o) { return { t: $(o).text(), v: o.value }; }).get();
arr.sort(function(o1, o2) { return o1.t > o2.t ? 1 : o1.t < o2.t ? -1 : 0; });
options.each(function(i, o) {
o.value = arr[i].v;
$(o).text(arr[i].t);
var options = $('select#apexir_SHUTTLE_RIGHT option');
var arr = options.map(function(_, o) { return { t: $(o).text(), v: o.value }; }).get();
arr.sort(function(o1, o2) { return o1.t > o2.t ? 1 : o1.t < o2.t ? -1 : 0; });
options.each(function(i, o) {
o.value = arr[i].v;
$(o).text(arr[i].t);
You'd need to find the propper timing for the dynamic action to run, I guess click of the button "Select Columns" would do the trick.

Substitution string used in custom Report column name does not display in PDF version of report
I am using Apex 4.2.6.00.03, Apex Listener 2 via Glassfish4 and have set up all my applications and reports on this system. We previously used Oracle 10.2, with Apache with a custom fopping document.
My issue is that I have a report that has custom column headings using a substitution string to pull in the begin or end date for the report. When the report is run and displayed, the column headings appropriately display the date. However, when I try to set up the Print to PDF option, the column headings are not displaying correctly.
Is it possible to use a substitution string in the column heading? I am able to use the substitution string in the Page Header and Page Footer and those display correctly.
In the Report Attributes setup I have set the "Strip HTML" to Yes and I have four columns that are using the &"ITEM NAME". string. See below for actual display:
The report column headings in APEX displays correctly (bold is the substitution detail):
Fund Account Description Balance 07/01/2014 Budget/Goal FY 14-15 YTD Actual 02/28/2015 Ending Balance 02/28/2015
In the Print Attributes setup, when I get to the Report Columns section, the Heading column displays the headings as set up in the Report Attributes custom and I am not able to edit these names. See below:
In the version of the report that is Printed to PDF I get the following for display:
Fund Account Description Balance %26amp;P347_BEGIN_DATE. Budget/Goal %26amp;P347_FY. YTD Actual %26amp;P347_END_DATE. Ending Balance %26amp;P347_END_DATE.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
PatFirst, the misspelled word is a test object and not data.
Second, all data display correctly.
Third, text object is displaying the old misspelled word.
Fourth, I have eliminated the possibility that problems in of my pdf export routine cause this issue by exporting directly from Crystal Reports Viewer. I print the report to the crystal report viewer. The report looks good. The text object is spelled correctly. Then I click the Crystal Reports viewer's export button in the left upper corner and I export to both EXCEL and PDF. The excel export looks good. The pdf export is misspelled. All the export occurs internally in Crystal reports.
Fifth, I found outthat all users who have this problem have the ADOBE PDF writer installed. I am just suspicious that ADOBE writer is interferring with Crystal export
Sixth, I cannot recreate this problem on any of our development and test machines. It only happens on end-user laptops.
Seventh, I changed the name of the report that had this problem and created a new version and installed on end-user laptop. The behaviour still persists. User saved the report as both RPT and PDF. RPT export looks good. PDF version has the spelling problem. Data on both reports is up-to-date and good. I copied the same RPT export to my PC and exported it to PDF, the pdf looks good. That is why I think something on the end-users laptops is causing the export to use some cached template.
One more thing I did was to change the report name in VB.NET project, recreated a new package and installed on end-user's laptop. The same exact problem is still there.
I have worked with Crystal Reports more than 15 years and I have never such a weird behaviour before. I know this sounds very weird. We are all baffled by what is happening. -
How to display hidden columns in Management Cockpit Reports
Hi all,
I need to display columns with zero values in a management cockpit report graph. I think the report had been set to hide columns without values and only brings charactesitics whose values are not equal to zero.
Could anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
SezinHI,
After you are executing the report, on columns right click & select filter options-> if 0 values will be there then you can filter it by 0 & get the report -
Display a blob column in a classic report
We are using Apex 4.0, and trying to display a blob on the report using: decode(nvl(dbms_lob.getlength(ci.photo),0),0,null,'<img src="'||apex_util.get_blob_file_src('P2_PHOTO',ci.ci_nbr)||'" height="75" width="75" />') img. What appears on the report is:

I am following the example in apex.oracle.com, your help will be much appreciated.
David.Thanks for the response Jeffe, I did change the attribute to standard report column and I think it is going the right direction but now I am a blank box with a smaller box in the upper left corner with a red x in the box. If you have any ideas about this one that would be great.

Conditionally displayed columns of interactive report not displayed
We have an interactive report in which few of the columns have been defined with conditions for display.
But on the interactive report page, when the conditions are satisfied these columns do not display in the report by default.
These columns are found in the 'Select Columns' -> 'do not display' pane. Everytime the report is run, these columns need to be selected using the select column.
Is there anyway to make the columns appear in the report by default, when conditions are true.Thanks Jari for your help.
For this issue, we finally came up with a work around.
we removed the conditions from all the columns then ran the application report page.
Clicked on Select Columns and moved the columns from the do not display pane to the right pane.
Ordered them as needed. Then saved the report as primary.
Then again went to the edit page-> interactive report and applied the conditions to the necessary columns.
and it worked.
When I went to the report these columns are displayed by default. -
The number of display columns in the report reached the limit. Help!!!
Hello Everyone,
This might be dumb question. But why do get this error with a IR report? and what is the solution for this. Please help me with this.
Error
The number of display columns in the report reached the limit. Please click Select Columns under Actions menu to minimize the report display column list.
Oh.. And also i have a blob column.. if the format is not given, then the table is fine.. but happen to get this error only when the blob download format is given.
Thanks and regards

Edited by: JB on Mar 30, 2012 11:08 AMHi,
i have set up a small test case on apex.oracle.com and I receive the same error if I use download format.
I have a table
test_blob (id number, name varchar2(10), blobcont blob)
If I create IR like
select
id,
name,
blobcont
from test_bloband then I define download format I hit the error.
If you want this to work you have to change your query to
select
id,
name,
dbms_lob.getlength(blobcont) blobcont
from test_blobAnd then again define download format for blob on blobcont column.

The number of display columns in the report reached the limit" Interactive Report
I get the error message of "The number of display columns in the report reached the limit" when trying to display less than 100 (100 is limit) columns when an aggregate has been created. This does not happen when an aggregate has not been added to the IR report. It seems to happen because I have a control break on as well. When I turn off the control break it works but is not the result that we want. Interesting enough, if I filter the results down to 500 rows it works just fine. Does oracle treat aggregates as columns!? This is a really odd issue that I really need to clear up.

Conditional display column in report
Hi,
If we have a single row report of 30 columns, and I want to display only the one with any values but null and hide the null ones, Is there a way to do it?
It's the same issue discussed in this thread conditional display column in report
thanks,
Fadi.Samara - I suspect there are a few ways to do this, but none obvious or very easy as far as I can see.
You can create dynamic SQL (as Arie and others have suggested) to only include the columns that are not null.
You can build and output the HTML directly to the page, choosing only to include the values that are not null.
You can create a set of conditions that you can apply to the report columns. A very crude example might be 30 hidden page items like 'SHOW_COL1' etc. (not great, I know), or perhaps you could set a hidden page item to a value like '01:02:03:'etc., with the number only being included if the value is not null (so that col3 being null gives you '01:02::04'etc.), so that the condition for each column is 'Text in expr 1 in contained in Item in expr 2', where expr 1 is '01' for column 1 etc.
Sorry, that is a very contrived example, but it's just to illustrate that there's generally a way of doing pretty much anything in APEX. You might create your item containing the comparison expression by requerying the data in this kind of way:
SELECT NVL2(column1, '01', '') || ':' || NVL2(column2, '02', '') || ':' etc.
FROM table
WHERE condition
However, wanting to create a single-row report with nulls hidden makes we wonder what you're actually trying to achieve and whether there's a better way? Could you use a series of page items, for example?

Hi, I'm newbie, so I need help. I have SQL query report, which always return just one row.
SQL query: SELECT user_id,first_name,last_name,active FROM my_accounts
where user_id=:P5_user_id
Now, if value of field active is 1, then don't display column active, in other case, display column with value 0 (no active).
Please give me working example.
Thanks
Igor
PS: Sorry on my broken EnglishI figured one way to accomplish this. Of course there may other ways as well. Basically what you have is one query for ACTIVE values of "0" and another query for ACTIVE values not equal to "0". Do the following to accomplish it:
1.) Change your query to be of type "SQL QUERY (Pl/Sql Function Body Returning Sql Query)".
2.) Under the Region Source click "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)"
3.) Define your Region Source to be:
DECLARE
v_sql1 VARCHAR2(2000):= 'SELECT user_id,first_name,last_name, active '||
' FROM my_accounts '||
' WHERE user_id=:P5_user_id';
v_sql2 VARCHAR2(2000):= 'SELECT user_id,first_name,last_name '||
' FROM my_accounts '||
' WHERE user_id=:P5_user_id';
v_sql VARCHAR2(2000);
BEGIN
FOR rec IN (SELECT active
FROM my_accounts
WHERE user_id=:P5_user_id) LOOP
IF (rec.active = 0) THEN
v_sql := v_sql1;
ELSE
v_sql := v_sql2;
END IF;
END LOOP;
RETURN (v_sql);
END;
I hope that helps,

Displaying the Row and Column number in the report
I am trying to show row and column number in the report (not just web preview). I am using Hyperion Reports Version 7.2.5.168
use a formula column/row. use RANK function in that. (e.g. Rank([A], asc) will sort the rows based on column A values in ascending order)
you can use this rank in your heading.
But frankly this is not so easy. You have to do it in a very intelligent way, so that rank gives you column number/row number any how.
Have a try and let see if you find a appropriate solution.

How to expand the hierarchy column automatically when delivery reports by a
Hi Experts,
In OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0,how to expand the hierarchy column automatically when delivery reports by agent?
For example:
In SampleLite RPD, when we drag "Time Hierarchy" and Sales column into the report , and sent it by agent ,it will only display "Total" sales, not show all level value,such as Year,Month,Day.So how to expand the hierarchy column automatically when delivery reports by agent?
If we expand all levels and save them, it will be ok, however, when we add new data, it will be collpased automatically and not show the lowest level data, requiring Users or Developer to modify this report for expanding the hierarchy. We think it is very trouble, is there any good suggestion or method for achieving our requirement?958054 wrote:
Hi Dpka,
Is it any difference? I look at the result is same.
Firstly, you said it is 'Add member of ',
Now, you said it is 'Keep member of'
Could you please tell me which options I must select ? Thanks very much.Here is some notes from the documentation to make a better sense of how those two options would work:
•Selection steps — When you create selection steps, you can add a group or a calculated item in a step. Subsequent Keep Only or Remove steps might reference members that were included in the group or calculated item.
◦A group list is affected by members that are kept or removed in subsequent steps, but the group outline value remains the same. For example, suppose the MyNewYork group contains Albany and Buffalo and its value is 100. Suppose Albany is removed in a later step. The value of the MyNewYork group remains at 100, but Albany is no longer listed with the group.
◦A calculated item is not affected by members that are kept or removed in subsequent steps, because removals can affect the components of the formula.
•Groups and calculated items — A step can include a group or calculated item. Groups and calculated items can be used only with Add steps; they cannot be used in Keep Only or Remove steps. -
