Display error messages from Stored Procedures through ODBC

I am working on a C++ application that uses an Oracle ODBC connection. In the exception part of a stored procedure I am using dbms_output.put_line ('error message'). Is there any way to display this message in the C++ application?
Thanks.

There are two parts.
The stored proc must 'throw' an exception.
And java must catch it.
You probably already have the java part. That is the catch(SQLException).
As for the stored proc you can use the following search string in the jdbc forum
raise oracle
You need to use 'raise' in the stored proc but I am not sure of the exact form, but one of the threads using the above search string is likely to have it.

    Hi there,
How do I capture a stored procedure calls error messages provided the stored procedures does not have output parameters? This questions applies to Oracle 7.3.4 stored procedures calls.

  • A way to display error messages from the program

    Dear all,
I am looking forward to display a set of error messages(in a internal table) during the execution of the program to the user.
I wanted to know the better way of displaying error messages from my program with more options.
Well I tried out using displaying errors as ALV list/Grid or as simple list processing.
But I found some  stanadard transactions (Like in MM and FI  where errors are shown in a better way, but failed to find out how they are done.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks in advance

  • Display error message from SLG1 on shopping cart screen

I have implemented a 'BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER' badi. I am adding all the custom error messages in ET_SC_MESSAGES export parameter of this badi. As a result of this, all the custom error messages added in the above parameter, gets logged in the application log SLG1 automatically and I can see those custom messages in SLG1. Now how to display this message from SLG1 on the shopping cart screen on the top where you normally see standard error messages in red.
Can anyone please help me on this?
    Thanks,
    Krupa

    Hi
Which SRM version are you using ?
I have not tried this... but I think this is not possible to display error messages
    using BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER BADI.
<u>Try to code your logic in using BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI for filter type - BUS2121 (shopping cart). You need to add your custom message in ET_MESSAGES [] table.</u>
<b>For sample coding, refer to the link below -></b>

    <b>Hope this will definitely help.</b>

    Hi,
I am using the function module RV_DELIVERY_CREATE for creating delivery in my program. If the sy-subrc is not zero i.e if delivery is not created, i have to display error messages collected inside the application. How can i do this ?
The object nd subobject are existing in SLG0 but when i

    Hi Vartika,
you need to save that log after creating and appending to it.
here is a code to save that log.
If log created, save to database

        refresh: bal_hndl.
        append e_bal_hndl to bal_hndl.

  • Tools XL Reporter displays error message 1/2 way through startup of XLR

My tech guy was able to fix a clients XL Reporter problem by doing a DELETE FROM xrdbv in Query Manager. When I tried that same fix in my 2007A SP0 PL11 database, starting XL Reporter from the tools menu displays a nasty error, then hangs SAP Business One.
My thought is I need to re-install XL Reporter, but not how to do that. I didnt see a setup or install executable in C:/Program Files/SAP/SAP Business One.
Here is the error message I am getting now:
    [link]http://www.screencast.com/users/mikewhite949/folders/Jing/media/0afba96c-2315-4ba3-bd58-56496ad5a34f[/link]

    Hi,
The installation file will not be available in the path that you have stated, that is the installed file for xl reporter.
From the B1Shr folder(from sap server) find the client and run the setup, first it will uninstall the client, again run the client setup, this will make xl reporter to work properly.

the schema owner which youre using in your jca to connect with the db got all the privileges for this object?
when you connect with the schema owner in which the object itself also exists, does it work in that case?

  • 'Cannot obtain error message from server' when trying to use ODBC

    Post Author: Grant C
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Hi, I'm developing some reports using Crystal XI on my local PC, using an Oracle 10i back end on a separate server.  The SQL for the report is in a method in an oracle package.
When I set the datasource location, selecting 'Oracle Server' then entering the details works fine, and the report runs.  However, when I try to use an ODBC connection I get the following error:
Database Connection Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.'
The ODBC link is set up as a System DSN, which works fine when I test it.  I think I need to use ODBC as some of the reports (which I inherited) seem to fail when run on the Crystal Server, and it seeme to be the ones set up with ODBC which work.
    Any thoughts?  Thanks.

    Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx 7.4 driver to correct this problem and ensure that you're up to date. This download is available here: NI-DAQ 7.4
If the problem persists you may want to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW and then NI-DAQ in that order. The error message will usually give an indication as to which VI the error occurred in. Please let us know which VI is failing if you're unable to avoid the error with these suggestions.

It would not. It will always throw an error. SQLPLUS is a Utility and not a Command/Construct, that it would be available for a Stored Procedure

Please let me know whether it is possible to do or not.
If there is possiblility how can does this be done?If you are at DMIP, you need not Login again. You can Login Manually to the Database and Execute the Procedure (in which you intend to create a User 'kkk').
However, if you are trying to Create a User in a Different Database, You will first require a DB Link to exist to connect to the Remote Database. You will also require Explicit privileges to create any user (Although I am not sure if you can create User onto a different Database.)
I would like to ask you, why are you creating a User on a Remote database? Can you not execute the same procedure on the Remote database and create User? Also, you are using SYS login to perform the activity. Ideally it should not be allowed. You must create a user and grant DBA rights to perform such activities.

  • Error message from database stored procedures

I would like to have some error message show at client side from stored procedures.
I use MS SQL Server and use RAISEERROR, but ColdFusion does not bring the error message just ignore the error continue to run the other part of code.
I just want to know are there any way to bring stroed procedure error message to client, or I have to trap the error at Web Server or JavaScript level.
Your help and information is great appreciated,
    Regards,
    Iccsi,

Just wrap your cfstoredproc in a cftry/cfcatch.  See this for an example:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1879754/accessing-raiseerror-message-from-cfstoredproc
There's no way your javascript can trap this server-side error though, unless you were calling your CFM page that calls the stored proc via an AJAX request.

Trying to view/print PDF documents from website. Print looks like gibberish and is unreadable. Problem is with the embedded fonts. Error message from Adobe says cannot extract the embedded font 'LICCMC+MyriadPro-Light'. some characters may not display or print correctly.

Try Adobe support, that's not a Firefox support issue. <br />
