Display Item Link Based on Login

I'd like to display an item based on the login name of the current user.
Seems like that would be relatively easy but I'm running into snags.
Any help appreciated.

Make sure you enable in page options and access options for the region that you have enabled item level security and then select access and add the appropriate user.

  • How do you display an item value based on other items?

    Item C's value depends on item A and B. If both A&B are null then C should display null , if A is null but B is not null then display 'Ok', everthing else display ' problem';
    3 items on page 5
item A: name p5_A, display as text (saves state). source type is a dabase column
item B: name P5_B, display as text (saves state). source type is a databbase column
item C: name P5_C, display as text (based on PLsql doest not save state), source type pl/sql anonymous block ? like the following
    if :P5_A is null and :P5_B is null then :P5_C is null; else if :P5_A is null and :P5_B is not null then :P5_C := 'OK'; else :P5_C := 'Problem'; end if;
Can someone tell me what did I do wrong on these stements unde apex? Thanks a bunch.
    Tai

Alternatively, you could do a add a computation for that item - same source as mentioned in the previous reply, but each will work.
Also, in your anonymous block, you have:
if :P5_A is null and :P5_B is null then :P5_C is null; else if :P5_A is null and :P5_B is not null then :P5_C := 'OK'; else :P5_C := 'Problem'; end if;should probably be
if :P5_A is null and :P5_B is null then :P5_C := null; elsif :P5_A is null and :P5_B is not null then :P5_C := 'OK'; else :P5_C := 'Problem'; end if;so instead of :P5_C is null , assign it a null - :P5_C := null. Also, else if in pl/sql is written as: elsif

  • Portlet Item Attr: "Link That Displays Item in New Browser Window"

I have been searching the forums for a similar experience, but haven't found anything quite like this:
I have a couple of portlets. One is a Discoverer Portlet, the other is something more basic: The "Developer News" portlet from the 9iAS Community portlet provider.
After defining the portlets and looking at them, I edit the page and click the Edit button (little pencil) to edit the attributes.
There are radio buttons for Display Options.
One option is: "Link that Displays Item in New Browser Window."
When I select this, OK, and then go back to the page, **the portlet doesn't show at all any more! There is no link, no nothing. Note that I have defined a Display Name, which should be the text for the link.
It would seem that this feature flat out doesn't work.
This technique for a popup works fine for an "Item" defined in an item region.
    Anyone?

Yes -- I did do that after reading an article on metalink about such issues.
    This actually changes the problem.
When I add the "Display name and image link" attribute to the region, I now do get a link.
However, clicking it brings up an undefined Discoverer portlet.
It works great for non-Disco portlets. For instance, I was able to pop up the "Developer News" portlet from the Oracle 9iAS Community portlet provider.
I think the problem is that the link that Disco produces does not provide enough information to bring up the particular portlet. For instance, the URL does not have the workbook name, the worksheet name, the parameter values, etc.
If anyone uses Disco w/ the portal, I would be curious to hear if anyone can reproduce this apparent bug / limitation.

  • "Link That Displays Item In Folder Area " option for a Text Item not there in 9.0.2

    Hi,
In the previous version of Portal when you created a content area item of type text. there were four display options
    1) Item Displayed Directly In Folder Area
    2) Link That Displays Item In Folder Area (i.e on a page for a folder)
    3) Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
    4) Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window.
In release2 of protal the option number 2) is removed.
We were using option 2 as we added different portlets and style sheets on content area page because of which we were able to get the desired page.
Now in the new release this option is not there.
    Any pointers to the issue.
or Is there a default style and page design which is used while opening the details of the text and whether that default can be modified or not?

    Hi,
Please post this question in the content areas discussion folder.

  • Action Items link in email displays a 404 error

Just installed a pair of Exchange 2013 servers in our organization and have configured a load balancer for access.  Mail flow, Activesync, calendar, etc.. are all working as expected but some emails display the Action Items link in Outlook.  When
I click on it, the section expands and a 404 error is displayed.  If it were a connectivity issue with the load balancer I would expect to get a 'cannot access page' message.  This page is obviously generated by Exchange (if I scroll down it shows
the same visual style as the Exchange 2013 OWA page).  I've tried searching solutions online and find plenty of information on developing Mail Apps but not much on administering them.  Anyone else run into this problem and/or know how to fix it?
    Thanks!
    -Nick

Disable and Re-enable the apps had no effect.
Setup a profile with my admin account and get the same behavior.
I tried opening an app from within the OWA page instead of Outlook and the error message is different, "App ErrorSomething went wrong and we couldn't start this app. Please try again later or contact your system administrator."
After searching for that error there was a suggestion this was an authentication problem.  I tried switching the OWA auth to Integrated Windows and I get single sign-on to OWA now but still get the error.
Oddly the path in the logs shows the actual server name instead of the load balancer VIP DNS name that i'm entering into IE.  This despite having configured the OWA internal and external URLs to use the VIP DNS name.
Here are IIS logs showing the 404 error I see in Outlook:

  • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

    Hi,
We use Oracle Portal Version: 10.1.4.0.0 (Build: 594).
We've found that the following setting doesn't seem to work.
Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window
Even with that set on items, items ALWAYS open up in the same window,..not a new one.
Has anyone else experienced this or is it just us?
    thanks

Hi, this is a "bug". You need patch 5026969 to solve it.
More info is in note 358722.1 - Items Are Opened In The Same Browser Window Even Though The Option 'Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window' Is Set.

  • Need help displaying item based on pl/sql anonymous block

This is probably something really simple but I'm stuck.....
On purchase order, I want to show related parent project name and ID. What is the best way to do it? I have created a region based on pl/sql anonymous block, and that works, but the data is above where I want it. I want the project name and ID to show up in the region w/ all the other fields.
I have created an item in the region that has other form fields, item is based on pl/sql anonymous block, w/ same code as above region, and the item doesn't find the data. What's the difference? Is it because the item doesn't save state? In order to choose for the item to be based on pl/sql anon block, APEX made me choose Display as Text (based on PLSQL, does not save state).
    Please see this picture:

How can we set "Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window" property? I could not find it. Thanks...

I assume you're using Portal 3.0 (it always helps to mention which portal version you're using).
I suggest you search this forum for "new window". You'll find several threads discussing how to implement this feature in Portal 3.0.

you can use either SPQuery to filter your list or Keyword query to search this specific library or
instead of creating custom webpart use content by search webpart
edit the query and add the below query
    (contentclass:STS_ListItem OR IsDocument:True) ListID:{5512071B-936A-4286-8C5A-AC2EB969306D}
    Your_category_managed_property:'category A'
change the item display template to display path as the link

  • Display item with HTML affected by dynamic action

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.1.1
I have a item P1_TEST set as "Display only", escaping special characters "no", and the source as pl/sql expression of
'hello <b>world</b>'I then create a dynamic action executing PL/SQL on click of a button.
    P1_TEST is listed in both "page items to submit" and "page items to return", and it doesn't matter what happens in the pl/sql code - it could just be null;
When opening the page, I see
    hello world
    as desired.
After clicking the button, the field contents become escaped and I see hello <b&GT;world</b>which is not desired.
Is this expected behaviour / a bug? Is there a workaround?
    Cheers
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
This was indeed a change of behaviour from 4.1.1 to 4.2 and has to do with how APEX handles input escaping (or when saving values into session state). I should say, we plan to revisit the current behaviour to make this more transparent and obvious, but that won't be for 4.2, for your information.
As you identified, the escaping is happening as part of the 'Page Items to Submit' functionality, so in other words when the item value is saved in session state. APEX has some predefined rules about when and when not to do input escaping based on the item type, and this is what has changed slightly from 4.1.1 to 4.2.
In 4.1.1, regardless of whether item values are set via the URL or via an Ajax call, the same rules applied for when APEX does input escaping. We always input escape the 'safe' item types. These types used to be documented in the 3.2 documentation, here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/sec.htm#CDDBBECI
(Obviously the item types have changed slightly with the consolidation of some of those into single items, with different settings. But hopefully that is still of use, and we no longer cite them in the same way in recent documentation so I couldn't link to something more recent.)
In 4.2, this behaviour was 'relaxed' slightly, such that this logic only kicks in when setting values over the URL, not for Ajax calls. This is why this is no longer an issue with your DA, because we no longer obey the same item type escaping in the context of an Ajax call.
As a workaround for 4.1.1, I would suggest to use a non-safe item type to set your value into (eg a 'Hidden' type), then use JavaScript just to copy that over to your displayed item. The 'unescape' function didn't work, because that does URL unescaping, not HTML unescaping.
    Hope that helps,
    Anthony.

  • How display attachment links in a list view in SharePoint 2013?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to display attachment links in a list in SharePoint 2013. There are few resources online to achieve this in SP2010 and SP07. Your help is much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ram Sampath:
You can use Event Receiver and create another list(ListA) to record your attachment link.
    Maybe your process is:
Users add list items and attachments
    List event will be fired
Use Event Receiver to get attachment url and then Write into ListA
You also can refer to the following web site:

    Mohamed Abdeen

    Hi,
The “Add new item” button will redirect users to add new item with the default Content Type of the current list.
So a workaround can be like this: We can change the default Content Type of this list every time when users open this list view page, then the “Add new item” button will work
    as you expected.
Here is a link with code demo about how to programmatically set a content type as default content type in a SharePoint 2013 List:
    http://www.ashokraja.me/tips/How-to-programmatically-set-a-content-type-as-default-content-type-in-a-SharePoint-2013-List
We can put the code into a Visual Web Part and add it into your two views, then when users open a list view page, the code will be executed to change the default Content Type
    of the current list.
To develop a custom web part, you can take a look at the links below with steps in detail for a start:

  • Display as text based on pl/sql - how to return value

    Hi,
I have a item set as "display as text based on pl/sql". How do I get the PL/SQL anonymous block to return the value of the item?
My function declares and populates a variable called t_output which is the value I want displayed in the item. The PL/SQL I have written is correct as I have tried it in SQLPlus* with DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE and I get the correct output, but I don't know how to set my item to the value of t_output. I have tried adding ":P73_ITEM := t_output;" into the end of the PL/SQL block.
    Thanks
    Lucy

    Hi Lucy,
    Try this and see.
make the display as:display as text(saves state)
    source type: sql query
in source value or expression type
    select func(arguments) from table name;
    Good luck

  • Display as text (based on LOV) not working

    hi --
I've not used this kind of item before, so there's probably some really simple thing I'm missing....
    Have the LOV:
    select objecttype_name display_value, objecttype_id return_value
    from hdb_objecttype_syn order by 1
Return value is going into page item :P3_objecttype_id (a popup LOV). Have another item, :P3_objecttype_name, which is a display as text (based on LOV) item. When/how is this item supposed to get populated? When I select a value from the LOV, I'd expect the text item to be set to the display value of the LOV, but it is always []. The source type of :P3_objecttype_name is Sql Query, and the query is:
    select objecttype_name from hdb_objecttype
    where objecttype_id = :P3_objecttype_id
Does the page have to be submitted before the display item is populated? Seems like that wouldn't be very helpful...
    Thanks,
    C

HI Varad -- I'm afraid I'm new enough to all this to not know how to implement either of your solutions... and that's after scanning the forum for additional info.
How do I get the page to submit? Is there any way to do this w/o forcing the user to explicitly press a button? (which would be way too much, as there are probably 10 LOVs on this page).
If I choose to use javascript, 1) on what item and under what attribute do I put the script (is it on the objecttype_name that needs to be populated?), and 2) where can I find an example of what this might look like? I'm not familiar w/ it at all.
My goal is ultimately to have an LOV that displays both the key value and the name (which I guess can be accomplished by concatenating those together in the LOV select statement), to return the name to the page, and then have the ID automatically filled in to match the key (the example I sent you is backwards, simply because I started building this page w/ only key values displayed, added the name as a test later.) And, I also want the user to be able to type in the ID (no LOV would be attached to it), and have the name automatically populated. I'm guess this could be accomplished in a way similar to having the name filled in after the value is chosen from the LOV... If I can just figure out how to do that!
    Thanks,
    Carol
