Display menu based on sharepoint user roles

Hi,
Could anybody please help me how to display custom navigation menu in sharepoint master page based on user roles
Eg: supose the loggedin user belongs to approver group then it should display entire menu,
if logged in user belongs to designer group it should hide some "ui item" (ex: Report)
Thanks in advance
Rasna

Hello,
If you are using sharepoint server/enterprise then you can also consider audience targetting for the links. You just need to enable publishing feature then set target audience from site action-->site settings-->navigation.
See this to enable publishing feature:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/sharepoint-server-help/enable-publishing-features-in-sharepoint-2010-HA010378243.aspx
Hope it could help

  • Dynamically changing the functions in a menu based on the user (in SSHR)

    Dear All,
    I have a requirement to change the functions in a menu dynamically.
    For Ex: An employee is allowed to apply Advance only in the first one month of his/her joining. I created it as an EIT and attached the function, to the menu. Now, i want to remove it automatically from the menu if his/her term in the company crossed one month.
    Can any one tell me how to automatically disable it after one month.
    Thanks and Regards

    The following code should do it. In this example, MyCellRenderer is the renderer class implementing TableCellRenderer, used for displaying combo box.
    TableCellRenderer renderer= new MyCellRenderer();
    (JComboBox)renderer.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            //Your event handling goes here
    });

  • Display Templates based on Roles

    Hi,
    I have a requirement in which i need to display different template based on the user roles(eg : Manager, Clerk ..) .Is it posible??
    Thank you

    Hi,
    perhaps you can use a single layout-rtf and use conditional regions to choose the layout you wish at runtime. If you have different layout-rtfs I would say it depends on the calling application and how you call BI Publisher.

  • Restricting values of a dropdown based on user roles

    Hi,
    Is it possible to restrict the values of a custom metadata dropdown based on the user roles (assuming only 1 role is assigned to each user)? Say, based on the role assigned to a user, he/she should see only 3-4 values out of 10 values in a dropdown on the checkin page. Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    You can get pretty close out of the box using some configuration manager applet voodoo
    1)First off create a Table that will contain the options for your list. Create the columns e.g. label and id and then also create a column called dSecurityGroup
    2)Add a view based on the table you just created, choose the Security tab and select "Use standard document security"
    3)Add some values to your view - make sure that you populate the dSecurityGroup column with real values of security groups
    4)Once it is all published, have a look at the checkin and search screens. You should find that UCM will evaluate the options in the same way it would documents - based on the dSecurityGroup value you applied to the row - e.g. you will see an option on the search screen if you have at least R permissions, you will see an option on a checkin screen if you have at least RW permission
    Try it out :-)

  • Can you create a javascript dynamic menu based on security data in oracleDB

    I am looking for a dynamic javascript menu that is generated based on the user role... basically i get the user role from ldap and then I have a Security table in oracle data base that has the permission info and i want to generate my dynamic menu based on the data in the database table.... the table has the following columns
    private String userId;
    private String security_level; // page level , field level
    private String permission; //CRUD
    private String permissionType; //ALLOW, DENY

    Hello Suzie,
    It is possible but you have "many" ways to do it, since what will happen is the javascript will be generated by an application.
    Are you developing a J2EE application? with or without JSF?
    The best way will be to Google to find a good Javascript menu library, and adapt the generation of it based on the content of your database.

  • Checking user roles in FI Module

    Hi,
    Please let me know the points to be considered while checking the security and authorization in FI modules based on a user role.
    Thanks,
    Sridevi

    Hi,
    While defining the security roles, as a first step Composite roles, Single Roles are created. Transaction codes are attached to Single roles. A group of Single roles are attached to a Composite roles.
    Based of Business requirements / Orgnaization structure in the Company  in the sense VP. Finance / Controller / Sr.Manager / Manager etc., the composite roles and single roles are assigned to the positions. For example Vice President Finance will have full authorization to all composite roles.
    Some of the users require only display authorization, in which case a role is created only incorporating transaction codes which display documents.
    Thanks
    Murali.

  • Easy Question: How to identify user roles within form?

    Hi folks,
    I would like to display/hide button which calls static data maintenance form (from other form) based on current user roles.
    If user has role "STATIC_DATA" granted then DISPLAY button (which calls static data form), else DO NOT DISPLAY it.
    Any example, how to get user roles within form?
    Thanks,
    Tomas

    I can do it with below code:
    declare
      l_cnt number;
    begin
      select count(*)
         into l_cnt
         from user_role_privs
      where granted_role = 'STATIC_DATA';
      if l_cnt > 0 then
            -- display it
      else
         -- do not display
      end if;
    end;I think, above should work.
    Thanks,

  • How to hide custom fields in Shopping cart depening on user role

    Hi,
    We have some custom fields in shopping cart for basic view. Every thing works fine. Now client is asking to hide all the custom fields based on user role.
    I found some function module to fund roles. now my main problem is unable to find the cusotm filed screen field name.
    When I tryed to find the screen field name using BBPSC02/03, its giving 'GT_DISPLAY_100-FIELD'. If I try to use this field, its not working.
    Could you pls tell me how to find custom screen filed name to hide in shopping cart.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
    As Laurent suggested,to hide the custom fields based on the user role,you need to implement the logic in BADi "BBP_CUF_BADI_2".
    You have the importing parameter IV_USER in this BADI.
    Pass this parameter to tables AGR_USERS and AGR_USERT  to get the user role
    OR
    Use FM: BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
    with USERNAME= user id and can retrieve Table: ACTIVITYGROUPS Field:AGR_NAME
    if you want the otherway around
    you can also use FM: RSRA_USERS_OF_AGR_GET
    with I_AGR_NAME= role and you can retieve Table: ACTIVITY_GROUPS_USERS Field: UNAME(usr Id)
    Then check the value for the User role as obtained using the above steps and accordingly set the property for the custom fields to hide them.

  • Display interactive report rows based on user role.

    Hello,
    Can anyone please help me out with this issue. i have an interactive report and now i want to make this report as conditional based on user role. Like i want to dispaly all the report rows for an Admin user role and for a developer I want the report to display only his/her rows. Can anyone please help me how can I resolve this issue.
    Do I need to have two separate reports for each role or can we make achieve this with only one report.
    thanks,
    Orton

    Here is a possible answer.. Build your Interactive report off of a collection. And when you build the collection you can build an if statement to either build your select with or without the filtering of user_id..
    See this blog entry for how to build a interactive report from a collection: http://www.oracleapplicationexpress.com/tutorials/71-oracle-apex-interactive-report-based-on-plsql-function

  • How can I filter a Sharepoint 2007 libarry list based on current user login?

    Hi all.
    I would like to know how I can filter a SharePoint library list based on current user login.
    Suppose I have created the followings:
    1) A SharePoint form library containing bunch of uploaded InfoPath form data.
    2) The InfoPath form template contains a promoted text field called "TargetUser" to store user domain login (ex: DOMAIN\JOE) and every InfoPath form file in the library has a valid domain name stored in the "TargetUser" field.
    I have created a custom view for the form library and would like to filter this view so only items whose "TargetUser" field matches current user's login ID are displayed.
    I went to Edit View page to customize the view and tried to use the [Me] function but I got a "Filter value is not a valid text string" message instead when clicking OK. Apparently [Me] returns a Person/Group data type and the filter cannot compare its value
    to that of "TargetUser".
    I tried using text functions (ex: TEXT([Me],"") hoping to extract default string value from [Me]. The filter accepts the parameter without any error but the resulting fitlered list does not display any items at all.
    I have googled this subject for hours but I have not found any solution.
    It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me to create a functional filtered list.
    FYI, my SharePoint 2007 installation is just WSS 3.0 + Form Server. I do not have MOSS 2007 (so no MOSS 2007 web parts or web services).
    Thank you.
    Jason

    Here's what I usually do in order to accomplish this.  Ultimately you'll need to have 2 different fields.  There's the one you already have, with DOMAIN\username stored in it.  Then you'll need an additional field as a "person" column type.
    Call it "TargetPerson" or something.
    Create a sharepoint designer workflow that runs each time an item is created or changed.  One action:
    Set FIELD to VALUE.
    The first FIELD is "TargetPerson", the VALUE is your "TargetUser" field.
    Once this is done, then the person value is stored in the person field.  This is the field that you can filter by "TargetPerson" is equal to [Me]

  • Editing the BW Frontend User Role Menu

    Hi All,
    I am struggling to identify where it is possible to modify the front end role menu on the web. We currently have a web page which launches once the user as logged in. It displays our company logo in the left hand corner and then shows (user specific) roles with a drop down option to display the queries available within those roles.
    This page has obviously been customised at some point in time in our system but no one can seem to remember how it was done (our original project team is long gone). It has never caused an issue but it's not very attractive and we would like to improve it.
    Does anyone know where to start? I suspect it is somewhere in SE80 but I don't know what or where.
    I have found this thread (Access BW (web) role menu outside of the Portal) which points to two "how to" documents but one doens't work anymore and the other one points me to SE80 but seems to be not quite what I am looking for as it allows me to edit the screen which has the login details (rather than the menu once they have logged in).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Ole Paludan,
    Hi R. Huisman,
    Its a very old thread .I am facing the same problem. It may help me in sort out my problem.
    But I could not find as per my below comment which huisman replied to you..
    Please let me know where i can find these.
    First of all you need the portal/java environment to execute the 7.0 Webtemplate.
    Open the webtemplate where your BW 3.5 rol menu resides. In the properties of the rol menu change the target frame to new page. --> I could not find setting called Target Frame in Role Menu BW3.5 WAD
    Open the 7.0 WAD execute your template(s) and copy the full URL.
    In PFCG select the object BEx Web Template and past the URL. Make sure you use the full space to past the URL  - I am not able to find object BEx Web Template in PFCG transaction.
    Now start/execute the old rol menu and click on the 7.0 report item you've created in PFCG. Now from the 3.5 role menu the new 7.0 report will be openend in a new window.
    Can you please provide some screens which help me in understand properly.
    Regards
    Gunpreet Singh

    How to hide cut/copy/paste/Replace… menu on the UIWebView when it is being displayed over the keyboard.
    Detail: I am having a HTML from, having text box, displayed using UIWebView. If user types in text box it shows the keyboard. Now If user tap and hold on text box it shows a popup menu. Now while keyboard and pop up are being displayed user scrolls the view. At this time it shows pop up over the keyboard which I need to hide.
    I tried setMenuVisible of UIMenuController when popup rect and keyboard rect intersects each other on viewDidScroll but it didn't help me.
    Any clues will help a lot.

  • Data view web part to display the most frequently accessed pages based on the user that is logged in

    I am working on a project in which I would like to display the top 5 most accessed pieces of content as links, based on the user that is logged in. Our MOSS 2007 implementation has subsites for all regions that we do business in, as an example North, South, East, and West. When a user visits the North region homepage, I would like a web part to display:
    Hello, <username>, here is a listing of your most accessed content:
    Link to One
    Link to Two
    Link to Three
    Link to Four
    Link to Five
    So each user would get a customized list based on their content access. We are not using my sites, but these would not work as we want the list to display on the home page of the region site.
    I am thinking that a data view may work here, but I am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    If you are running MOSS you may want to take a look at the Relevant Documents web part too.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointserver/HA102410251033.aspx
    The Relevant Documents Web Part helps you create a personalized view of the documents that you create, check out, and change. In a large Document Center, the Web Part can save you time and effort by making files easier to find and use. The following figure shows the Web Part:

  • How do I display or hide a Java menu based on current url in a php page

    How do I display or hide a Javascript menu based on the current url in a php page?
    I want to specify when a java menu appears on a page based on the current url - does anyone have a script for the vars and conditional statements to make this happen - it would be something like this in natural language:
    <javascript>
    if currenturl = http://jemmakidd.com/categories.php
    then displaymenu
    else if currenturl = http://jemmakidd.com/categories.php?cat=14 (or 15,16 etc)
    then DONOTdisplaymenu
    What is needed is that, if you look at this page there is a java menu under the first category:
    http://jemmakidd.com/categories.php
    I WANT the menu to appear on that page so that is working, however if I look at one of the store categories, like on this page, I do NOT want the menu to appear - it may be that this can be done without using a java current url type function - thats why I'm asking...
    http://jemmakidd.com/categories.php?cat=14
    So to summarise:
    http://jemmakidd.com/categories.php (If this url is used DO display menu - if any other url DONT display menu)
    Thanks again...any ideas?

    This is a Java forum, not a Javascript forum. Google the differences.

  • On the web how can I check the user role to display the form suitable for this role i

    Hello
    How can I check on the web the use role to display the a form for each role
    Example
    If the admin login I display admin_form.fmb and if user login I display
    user_form.fmb
    Thankx
    Tamer

    In my forms I hide tab pages according the role using something like the following script in the WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE trigger.
    So the user can not navigate to tabs which are vorbiden by his role.
    CURSOR users_roles_cur IS SELECT granted_role FROM user_role_privs
    WHERE username=(SELECT user FROM dual);
    user_roles_rec users_roles_cur%ROWTYPE;
    IF users_roles_cur%ISOPEN
    THEN
    CLOSE users_roles_cur;
    END IF;
    OPEN users_roles_cur;
    LOOP
    FETCH users_roles_cur INTO user_roles_rec;
    EXIT WHEN users_roles_cur%NOTFOUND;
    MESSAGE (user_roles_rec.granted_role);
    PAUSE;
    IF RTRIM(user_roles_rec.granted_role,' ') = 'BLA-BLA'
    THEN
    tb_pg_id := FIND_TAB_PAGE('activity');
    IF GET_TAB_PAGE_PROPERTY(tb_pg_id, visible) = 'FALSE' THEN
    SET_TAB_PAGE_PROPERTY(tb_pg_id, visible, property_true);
    END IF;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE users_roles_cur;
    Other solution may be is to use an initial form which only will detect the user role and run the appropriate form.
    Other solutions are also possible.
