Display random shift promblem

I have a new issue with two of my three macs. on one of the imacs (24") and a G5 desktop (w/cinema display) the screen move a few pixels with the mouse...in other word if I wiggle the mouse back and forth the screen image moves a few pixels in each direction. If I move the curer up and down the screen seems to stretch a few pixels downwards making the type blurry. the third imac (24") does not do this ... any thoughts?

The screen is slightly zoomed. Hold down Control while turning the scroll-wheel.

Display Random Tables in Siena

Hello. I am wanting to display random quotations. So I was thinking about creating excel tables and then displaying them...but how do we leverage the Random function? My apology for the newbie question...I am an analyst, not a programmer, but I would think
this would be easy to do.
Essentially, every time the user opens the application, a random text table is displayed.
Also, I want to have a button to refresh the quote.
Can anyone provide an example or point to an example of this happening?

We are definitely happy to have you here! Your question is definitely welcome as Siena is not about being an analyst or programmer, but about having ideas.
Another approach for this would be to leverage the
Shuffle() function on your excel data source. Consider the following:
1) Add a horizontal 'Text Gallery', called Gallery1
This will allow you to view the quotes data you have stored in your excel data sheet. We also assume your data is in a table called "myQuotes" and therefore, the
'Items' property of this will be Shuffle(myQuotes)
2) Add a 'Label', called Label1
This will be used to display your quotes. Say you have a column called "Quote" with the "myQuotes" data set. Then we will set the
'Text' property of Label1 to First(Gallery2!AllItems)!Quote. This way every time,
Shuffle() gives us a re-ordered list of the quotes,
First() takes the first one of the top and forwards that into Label1.
3) Taking this further with a button, we will add a Button to the canvas, called
Button1
This button will be used to switch to the next or new quote. We will accomplish this via the
Refresh() function, where we call thus function on the Data Source. Now the caveat here is that, excel does not work with
Refresh() since it is a static source of data. If you used the Azure Mobile Services data source for example and we keep the same name for the table, then you could do
Refresh(myQuotes).
This will allow us refresh the source, which in turn will be shuffled into the gallery, from which we pick the first one to display in the label.
4) Now that this is all said and done. You can now hide Gallery1
from your users via selecting Gallery1 and setting its 'Visible'
property to 'false'
Hope this inspires some other ideas.

Why does my mouse tracking speed randomly shift to the slowest level?

Since I downloaded Mavericks OSX 10.9.3, my mouse tracking speed randomly shifts to the slowest speed. Is there a way to change this?

If it's a wired mouse, check the battery level in System Preferences > Mouse often.
If it's USB, try a another USB port to test.

What kind of monitor are you using?
Have you tried adjusting the monitor display? Usually on the bottom of monitors are keys to be able to shift the screen left / right, up / down.
Have you tried resetting back to default settings?

It sounds like you have some sort of Backup software that mounts an external drive or network drive periodically.
Generally Macs become less responsive during backups -- and that might explain the jerky mouse movement.

Macbook display randomly garbles. Corrects for a while when I plug in an external monitor. What's up?

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro that has some random display issues.
1. The laptop display will put a 1-inch black bar down the screen and shift everything to the right. It fixes itself for a while when I plug an external monitor into the mini-display port, but then does the black bar thing again.
2. Screen just totally garbles and I have to do a hard restart. Plugging in the external monitor seems to correct this for a while, too.....
I went into System Settings and unchecked the box so that it would only use the discrete graphics, and it doesn't help.
Failing GPU? Discrete or on-board? I'm guessing failing discrete GPU......

Hi.
PC disks should be FAT32 formatted as they come and if you out the disk into an external drive enclosure be it USB or Firewire, your iMac should be able to mount it and read it.
If you want to use this "re-convert" hard drive as your "permanent" external drive for your iMac and nothing else, I would advise you to reformat the disk to the GUID format (partition), which is recommended for all Intel Macs, because they read and write to external drives a little differently from their PPC counterparts.

External display with shifted screen

i bought Lenovo T520 with nVidia 4200. But when i connect external monitor (LG 245WP) via displayport (converted via dispayport to HDMI) i get shifted screen. And LCD is connected as TV, not as 1920x1200 monitor. There is nothing i can change, all drivers are up to date.
I'm using Windows 7 64b PRO.
Please, can you help me to fix it? When i use VGA, all is working.

The real support is via the phone to the support team. This is an unoffical support forum although there are some Lenovo staff on this forum.
It is a user forum primarily. The resolution should be selectable for the output device especially if display port to display port connectivity is used.

Page Displaying Randomly in Dreamweaver CS5

Has anyone had any issues with a page loading randomly and other times displaying the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". This is when you view the site in IE8 after highlighting index.htm and pressing F12 from Dreamweaver. I'm building the site using Dreamweaver CS5. Things I've done so far to try and work out where it is failing:
1. I have a number of other menu items working perfectly. I have checked the code against the other menus that are working perfectly. This includes comparing menu.htm, menu.js and checking the code at the top of page01.htm.
2. Copied the code into validator.w3.org and check it.
3. Cleared the cache, browsing history etc.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks so much Murray. Late yesterday afternoon, I fixed it the "hard" way by copying one of the working folders and replacing all the text from the page that wasn't displaying correctly. It seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks again for your offer to look at the code.

Display randomly falling asleep

My PowerBook has begun to randomly go into sleep mode while I am in the process of using it. The screen simply goes dark, the sleep light indicator on the front of the computer begins to slowly flash, but it is only half as bright as full sleep mode. If I close the lid, the sleep light indicator will immediately begin flashing at normal brightness. When I open the lid, everything is back to normal.
I have checked on my energy settings in System Preferences. This has happened about five times today. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem as well as possible solutions?

My five and a half year-old 17" G4—which until now has worked almost flawlessly—just started displaying this behavior on Thursday. Brief flickers to a black screen (usually twice in quick succession) followed by immediately going to sleep. I can always wake it up from sleep mode (for now), but it's annoying and makes it difficult to concentrate. If I close the lid and the computer goes to sleep for more than a few minutes, when it wakes up the screen is almost (but not entirely) dimmed out, and the only way to resume normal brightness is execute a forced shutdown, after which it's fine.
I've read everything here and on the other online forums, which suggest that the problem is tied to either the temperature sensor or the ambient light sensors. And I've come across two solutions (possibly related) that seem to work for me. First go to System Preferences and disable the trackpad when a mouse is plugged in (I almost always use a mouse). Since I've done that, there have been no random sleep episodes. Second, when shutting down for the night (or anytime), tell the computer to go to sleep (or let it go to sleep on its own, as dictated by System Preferences) but don't shut the case. This allows it to wake up normally with normal screen brightness.
A very helpful "genius" at my local Apple Store (whom I saw before hitting on the interim fixes above) said the problem could also be a failure of the mechanical switch that helps put the computer to sleep. The only permanent solution is to replace the entire top case (the piece covering the trackpad and keyboard), to which these sensors and the switch are attached. If your laptop is more than five years old, you will need to get the repair done by an authorized third-party company, as Apple no longer stocks the necessary parts.

Display randomly becomes too big

We have a new iPad mini in the family and we are owners of multiple Apple products. There is a problem we do not know how to fix. At what seems like random times tapping on the keyboard makes the over all display become huge! And basically unusable as those icons/areas that go out of view are inaccessible. Rebooting fixes this but it keeps happening. Please help!

Check to see what Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom is set to, and if it's currently set 'on' then turn it 'off' - with it 'on' double-tapping the screen with 3 fingers zooms the screen in/out. Also check what Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home is set to (potentially a triple-click of the button can also zoom in/out)

Display screen shifts to left and right

Hi, The display on my new iMac will occasionally shift about 1 to 2 inches to the left or to the right. It will hold that position for several seconds. During this time the system is unresponsive to the keyboard or mouse entries. If the screen first shifted left it will then shift right, still off center but in the other direction. The screen will then re-center itself and responsiveness returns. This may occur 4 or 5 times during the course of an evening. The problem was worse when I primarily used Safari as the browser. It happens less with Foxfire.
Suggestions or answers?

Unfortunately I was never able to figure out what it was that caused this! After several visits and several repairs and several escalations up the ladder - I finally got someone to authorize an exchange. They could not reproduce it on my computer either, but after extensive questioning, it turns out they do not actually sit at the machine and use it, they just run diagnostic software on it that is supposed to catch things like that, but clearly it does not catch this.
Overall though, this is a glitch that apple has not yet identified as a problem and in my experience, person after person will tell you they have never heard of it (or worse, act as if you are making this up). My experiences with this problem and apple's response (or lack thereof) has actually caused me to switch back to a PC after seven years as a die hard apple fan. That being said, Matt was extremely helpful and didnt act as if I was insane, so he may be able to be of help to you as well.

Durations of clips are Randomly shifting - HELP

I normally work in Final Cut Pro, and needed to do a piece in iMovie due to the fact I'm traveling and do not have FCP on the computer I'm working on. I've been building a cut out of still images, 3 different songs, fades, transitions, etc. and as I move forward towards the end and add images, music all the work I've already done keeps shifting, the timing keeps changing, and I have to go back and re-time everything - this is ridiculous. Durations of clips in the beginning of the cut are RANDOMLY changing - I just don't understand, but it is doing it. Everytime a clip randomly changes - everything after it shifts. I have no choice, this is for a family event and I do not have the time to redo in FCP or keep re-timing this piece - is there any way to lock the picture to audio as I go?? I am working in the latest versions of iMovie/OSX, etc. - thank you.

One thought immediately comes to mind. When inserting a new transition are you sometimes changing the default duration of the transition in the Inspector? If so, make sure that the box entitled "Applies to all transitions" is NOT checked (ticked). If it is ticked, then all clips with transitions may have their duration changed (depending on the type of transition) due to the transition's length changing. Some transitions use extra frames from the clips when increasing the duration of the transition, for example, Cross Dissolve.

Just a quick one.
How do I display a random record in DW?
I have a MySQL statement which is:
SELECT * FROM
tablename ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 0,
number of records to display
The error message I get is:
'Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression RAND()
LIMIT 0'
If I alter 'RAND()' to 'RND()', I still get the error. If I
remove the '0' I still get the error.
Any ideas how to make this work?
I'm using Access BTW.

NEED HELP!!! PHP include content displays always shifted down, WHY?

Hi, I am fairly new to using PHP and Dreamweaver together and
I have placed the attached code in my document and I have noticed
that the PHP generated table, div or anything else is always
shifting down in IE and FireFox as well. Why?...and what is the
solution to display and position dynamic content correctly inside
the "content" div without shifting and having control of it.
