Display only positive values for a particular Keyfigure
Hi..
(Sorry, I accidentally posted this also in Datawarehousing forum, actually it related to BeX forum).
For a particular column(keyfigure) in my report, the user wants to display only positive values.
I used the formula from the one of the forums
(Keyfig > 0)* Keyfig.
This displays only positive values in the column as required. But, the result for this column is also affected. As the result is negative, it shows, zero in the result for this column.
Is there a way in which the result will not be affected by the formula?
I went into the properties of the particular keyfigure and chose Calculate Result as -> Summation.
It throws out the following error message
'Calculating result as...' was not executed
Message no. BRAIN141
Diagnosis
The function 'Calculate Results as ...' could not be used in all
instances.
The recalculation of a result cell always occurs based on the set of
detailed cells subordinated to this cell. This is the most detailed
level of the drilldown. Therefore it is not posible to recalculate in
hierarchical lists. The calculation of a results cell is not performed
if a cell or column with an expand symbol is assigned beneath it.
Otherwise the newly calculated result is changed every time one of its
lower-level nodes is expanded. This is not supported for technical
reasons and would also only confuse users.
Note, however, that calculating with "Suppress Results" is always
executed because the restriction described above does not apply in this
case.
NOTE:
The query shows the keyfigure values for a selected title, for profit center and territory hierarchies.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sai.Hi Deepu,
Thanks for the reply. I tried with ur formula.
LEAF(keyfig) gives all values "zero" for that particular column including the result.
NOT LEAF(keyfig) gives all values "one" for that particular column including the result.
So, ur formula gives the same values as of the present column values.
I tried condition, but it's not working...it says the following errors...

Message no. BRAIN144
Diagnosis
Characteristic Title has an output condition and the 'Suppress Results
Cells' property is active for Profit Center. This generally leads to an
incomprehensible output list.
System response
As soon as an output condition is defined for a characteristic (here
Title), the system calculates the corresponding result cells and applies
the output condition. If a result cell of this type is later deleted by
the condition, all the lower-level detail and result cells in its
drilldown are suppressed. Because the result cell is suppressed the
Title rows are then omitted from Profit Center.
In extreme cases this can lead to an entirely empty list being
displayed, although the single rows or columns would be displayed if the
condition were deactivated.
Procedure
Check the query settings, especially results row suppression and the
output conditions.
Procedure for System Administration
You can deactivate this message Brain 144 with transaction RSRT1.

Positive Value only Display or Edit Pattern
Hello, could someone please explain how I can prevent a negative result in a calculation field? i.e., a result less than zero. In other words, how can I ensure that users only enter positive values in a numeric field, and that the subsequent simple "subtract" calculation will also remain positive?
HarryTHANKS NASSIA, this works for disallowing negatives by force, however it gives me script failed alert.
Would you know how to suppress "Script Failed" alerts, such as this:
Script failed (language is formcalc; context is
xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].SF_CalculationTable[0].acview[1])
script=(ac[1] / tr[1]) * 100
Error: arithmetic over/underflow.
. (+ 25 more...)
These seem to be only happening because the field is not yet populated, (except with zeros). How do I suppress this error, because the form works fine. -
Setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form
I'm having a problem setting non-displayed fields on the same table as displayed fields like last_update_date, last_updated_by, id's and other fields when creating new records or updating existing records in a Tabular form.
What is the best and easiest way to set these values without using database triggers?Hi Jes,
I'm a little reluctant to use database triggers as I used this product a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure I handled this problem in HTML DB without the use of triggers. I am therefore I'm getting a touch frustrated that I can't remember how to do it now !!
Do you know of any way of setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form without using database triggers?
Also, you seem to be suggesting that database triggers is the best way to do this?

How to display positive value with a trailing plus sign
I want to display positive value with a trailing plus sign and negative value with a trailing minus sign. How can I do it? Is there any character in custom format for this? I don't want to convert number to text and use case statement because I need two decimal places and thousands separator.
Okay, try this...
You will need to do a "UNION ALL" of three queries, one for positive values, one for zero values, and one for negative values.
In the "negative values" query, do the following:
1) Add a filter on the measure for values "less than 0"
(This will ensure all values are negative.)
2) In the Data Format tab, select "Custom" and type in #,##0.00-
(This will add the trailing negative sign.)
3) In the Edit Formula tab, add the absolute value function, ABS(insert measure here)
(This will take get rid of the default leading negative sign.)
For the "positive values" query, modify the above as follows:
1) Change the filter to "greater than 0"
2) In the Data format, change the custom format to #,##0.00+
Step 3 is not needed since all values are positive.
For the "zero values" query, just add a filter "equal to zero." -
Parameter List displaying all the values on Parameter form
Dear All...If I uncheck the "Restrict List to predetermined values" option, then report parameter form displays all the values on web parameter form instead of displaying those values in the List Item. Is it the Default behaviour of Oracle Reports 10g or Can I control it anyway because if I've 1000 entries in a list, then displaying all those values openly on the form is an ugly thing and it increases the size of parameter form very much.

A solution is provided in the Note :

Retain position on continuous form through requery
I have a continuous form that, for reasons of efficiency, must use an underlying query that groups records and provides totals. Therefore, the underlying recordset is (correctly) not updateable. However, I do need to flip the value of one of the (header)
fields from True to False or False to True. So I have a button in the detail section of the form that checks the current value, creates the SQL statement to change the value, and runs the SQL statement.
So far, so good. Now, to get the new data to appear, I must requery the form, but that, of course causes me to lose my position on the continuous form.
So I set a variable to the value of the current PK in the header table before my requery, then use Bookmark to return to the record that was current before the update & requery. Again, so far, so good...except for one thing.
The user may have the current record in any vertical position on the visible part of the list. That is, the record being edited could be at the top of the visible records, the second one down, etc, or even the last record visible (I have a vertical
scroll bar). Using Bookmark returns me to that record, but it automatically places that current record at the top of the visible portion of the record list (form's detail section) after the requery. This is quite confusing for the users, and they can
easily lose their places.
Is there a way, not only to return the current record after the requery, but to return that record to the same vertical position within the form's records in the detail section so that there is no apparent jumping around?Hi Brian
D. Hart,
In early 2000s I published the solution here:
http://am.rusimport.ru/MsAccess/topic.aspx?ID=24
That sample isn't English localized. That's why I redesigned it for you. You can download the ajusted version from here:

By the way, the key moment of it was discussed early here:

How to get the values of form valuess
Hi All,
Good Morning,
i create a page with some form valuesss
that form values are based on view attributes(vo)
i did some caluculations and store that values in form value variabless at the time of creating a row in table.
now i want to open that row in edit mode.
that time all text fields values are getting and displayed in text fieldss.
but that record form values are not getting.the form values store the null values.
how can u get the values of form value variables in the edit mode.
ThanksHi
ohh ,ok ,then as u said that u r storing twenty values ,thats y i aksed earlier ,are these form values part of tbale ,or as u said 20 values are there ,for these u r creating 20 form values ???.
My suggestion would be ,u do four calculation and put all your results in a hashmap ,and keep this hash map in to sesion ,using the following method
pageContext.putTransactionTransientValue("HashMapName",myHashMap);
and inside the PFR method when u want to display these values ,u can loop through your hashmap and can display these values.
like this
HasMap hm=pageContext.getTransactionTransientValue("HashMapName");
thanx

How to display top 10 values in a Webi report?
Hi,
I have the following requirement.
If the report contains 'State' and 'Revenue' columns, I need to display top 10 cities with highest revenue and the revenue of the remaining cities can be summed together and should be available in a separate cell.
I tried several formulae to achieve the requirement but was unsuccessful.
I created a variable using the formula: '= If (Rank(<State> ,<Sales revenue>)>10 ) Then Sum(<Sales revenue>) Else 0' and added it as a column in the report. This provides the required results.
When I add this variable as a column in the report, it displays 0 for the first top 10 values and only displays the remaining values. After that we can apply the Sum on this column to get the sum of the remaining (Other) sales revenue excluding top 10 values. However I cannot display this sum in a separate cell.
Please provide some suggestions on this.
Regards,
Aditya JoshiHi Aditya,
Could you please try the following solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution1:
In Oracle, there is a function called: RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY () ORDER BY ()) which can be used to define an object at Universe level to return a rank position when used in a report. If you can check with your DBA - there is a similar function available for SQL Server. It should be RANK() OVER (ORDER BY colname) AS () FROM.
Solution2:
Or you can also try returning all rows in query, apply sort at report level & apply alerter to highlight the top 10 values.

How to Display an Image on my FORM
Good Day!
I would like to ask some help from you guys with my problem on how to display an image on my form. I would like to display my uploaded image on my form but instead of an image, the get_blob_file is showing. By the way, I'm using Apex 4.1
I downloaded the Order Entry Sample Application and followed the Page 6, the Product Details. I even made snapshots of each details from Page Rendering to Page Processing in order not to miss a thing.
At the moment, I was able to upload or store the image on my created Oracle table and also able to retrieve it on the Download Link Text with Content Disposition value of Inline, provided by APEX Settings. If I invoke the Download link beside the file browser, a page with the image will be shown, below is the address:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/apex_util.get_blob_file?a=200&s=339877802936975&p=230&d=7107921433296839&i=7107601420296838&p_pk1=54&p_pk2=&p_ck=7D6512D967336C4B94258EEA3CDF1BE6&p_content_disposition=inline
However, instead of showing the image on a region, below is the one showing on my Form:
<img src="apex_util.get_blob_file?a=200&s=339877802936975&p=230&d=7107921433296839&i=7107601420296838&p_pk1=54&p_pk2=&p_ck=7D6512D967336C4B94258EEA3CDF1BE6" />
As you can see the parameter values are the same but I know I missed something that's why I'm here :)
I would highly appreciate all the help you can provide and many thanks in advance.
I tried to change gear by making an html region of type PL/SQL (anonymous block) and a procedure but still no image :(

Positive Value with Zero Stock
hi Experts
I noticed while doing a stock audit report that I had a positive value of £35.00 for a item code where the stock level was zero. How can I get the amount down to zero too? Stock Revaluation won't work because there is no stock and any in/out stock transaction simply result in outstanding amount of £35.00.
We are using FIFO for value . I would also be interested to know how I can query other items with this issue?
thanks
Geoff
Edited by: Geoff Lord on Jul 8, 2011 5:26 PMHi Goeff.......
If the stock of the item is zero and still it shows the item cost then this means nothing.
It does not affect anything in system.
The moment you book GRN the purchase value will be overrite on it. It only shows for display as last price......
You can try a purchase in demo DB and then run the Audit report you can find the difference.......

Displaying a trigger error in forms
In a before inserting table trigger, if inserted values are not correct, I raise an error :
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20001,'Error message !');
What I want is to display this error message in forms instead of the error 40508 - ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record.
How can I ?look at Dbms_Error_Code and Dbms_Error_Text.
You'll have to parse them, but you can grab the error messages off them.
Here's a similar question I asked on Metalink... I never received an error there, but the solution was to write an on-error trigger for the block and capture the form errors related to inserts, updates, and deletes. Here's the question though:
Oracle Forms/Web Forms Technical Forum
From: ERIC GIVLER 18-Nov-00 15:16
Subject: "Clean" capture of DBMS Error messages on raise_application_error
"Clean" capture of DBMS Error messages on raise_application_error
This is with Forms 4.5 Developer 1.3.2 (32bit)
Has anyone written forms level triggers, I guess ON-ERROR triggers to properly capture the error messages raised from a database trigger or procedure that uses a RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR?
I'd like to display the SAME message that I'm passing to RAISE application error, the message only, without all the other garbage.
I was thinking of capturing the dbms_error_code and dbms_error_text, and then based on the form error code - kind of like in the example code in the Forms Help. Then, I'd parse these strings and strip off my error message, because the dbms_error_text contains the entire "error stack", ie:
ORA-20100: SEASON DATES ERROR! Reservations exist in this date range
ORA-06512: at "SUNTRACK.SEASON_DATES_BR_D", line 19
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'SUNTRACK.SEASON_DATES_BR_D'
So... I'd like to just get "SEASON DATES ERROR! Reservations exist in this date range" message
Questions:
1. Is there an easy way to do this that I'm missing, or do I have to brute force, look for 'ORA'| |dbms_error_code| |': ' in my dbms_error_text, strip that off the front, and then grab the error text up to the first LINEFEED, chr(10), found in the dbms_error_text - that just seems a little "kludgy"
2. Anyone have a nice solution? IT seems like there should be a "standard" on-error trigger that handles this type of situation.
3. What would be all the form errors that I should look for that could have been the result of an error raised in a trigger???
ie. frm-40509 (unable to update), frm-40510 (unable to delete
