Displaying Japanese text in Bex window
Hi,
In one of my reports, the text is in Japanese language and is shown as ######### in BEX window. Is there a setting, whereby I can display the Japanese fonts in BEX window ?
Would appreciate your help with points.
Thanks,
Abhishek
Hi
Have you mapped 0LANGUAGE in transfer rules and loaded Japanese fonts in BW
For that , you have to maintain language dependent text settings for the related master data
If you done this, any text can appear in BEx window

How to display Japanese text from an XML file
Hiya,
I have various adapted mp3 players [called playlists on my site] which retrieve the songs and song titles/artists from an XML file. One of them plays Japanese music.
Most of the tracks are in English but I now have a couple of songs with Japanese titles and file names which I can't get to preview/display in Flash Pro CS5 [Mac]. I can type static Japanese text and it displays fine but Flash seems to be having a problem with the Japanese from the XML file.
Though I can find the English titles, etc, it would be nice if there were a way to display Japanese text from a 'multi-lingual' [English and Japanese] XML file [probably something really easy].
Thanks a bunch.

Will not display Japanese text only boxes?
how can I get it to display any Japanese text from websites with out it only showing boxes
any input would be appreciated!
The Japanese text I would love to see is
Hiragana
Katakana
KanjiQuite honestly, I think you need to go back to Flash 10.3.183.90, a version that was kept alive specifically for WinXP users. The Flash 11 and later versions have a separate plugin container that isn't available for anything below Win Vista with feature you can't even use. I see no advantage to anything newer and on the down side the newer versions are a lot more likely to crash frequently.
First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download Flash 10.3.183.90 from here - about halfway down the page:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
(Released 6/11/2013) Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (61.1 MB)
IMO, the best version of Flash for WinXP. Adobe kept up with security updates for 10.3 for WinXP users long after Flash 11.0 came out in 2011 for Vista and newer versions of Windows.
Run the uninstaller, then reboot your operating system.
Then you can run the Flash installer, with Firefox closed, of course.
''Note, if you still use IE, you'll need to reinstall the ActiveX version of Flash for IE. That uninstaller removes all versions of Flash that might be installed,'' -
Displaying bottom text of main window in box?
Hi all ,
I am working with a sap script, where i need to display standard text in box at end of the main window.
The problem is i am unable to set the dynamic position of the box at bottom of the main window .
please help me to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Vamshi.
Edited by: VAMSHI KRISHNA on Oct 29, 2008 12:04 AMHi Gustavo,
Thanks for your reply.
But here my requirement is the text should be displayed immediately after the data in main window is printed . If i used the bottom window , then it will display exactly in that position despite of the main window data.
So Is there any way to display text in box dynamically, after main window data is completed?
Thanks,
Vamshi. -
Report Viewer Control not displaying Japanese Text fetched from a file.
Hi,
I am using Crystal Report 2008.
I want my report to display values read from text file ( this file contains key = value pairs ), for this I have created a ufl ( created as .net dll and also tested correctly). The text file contains keys in english and theirs values in Japanese hence this text file is in UTF-8 format.
As said above the .net dll was tested with a .net application and the japanese values were returned correctly.
But using the same function as ufl in crystal report displays ???????? for same japanese text.
I have already installed the Japanese language pack for crystal report.
Please help as soon as possible.
Thanks.Hi,
I solved the above problem using setContentLocale method and passing it desired locale.
Thanks! -
Crystal Report for Enterprise not displaying Long Text from BEx
Hello,
I am creating a report using SAP Crystal Report for Enterprise 4.0 (Version 14.0.2) and the source of data is BEx query via OLAP connection created using IDT. I am using SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4.0.
The Characteristic (which is hierarchy) in the Rows section of the BEx Query is set to display long text and as such, it displays long text when the query is executed in the BEx Analyzer. However, when it comes to Crystal Report, the short text is displayed in the report. Can I display long text in the Crystal Report? How?
Thanks,
KPVenkat,
Thanks for your response. Please note, however, the transaction RAD1 does not exist. Let me provide more details about the current settings of the InfoObject.
The Characteristic is 'Item' (0CS_ITEM) and upon going to RSA1 > Modeling > InfoObjects > Item (0CS_ITEM) > Right Click > Display > Business Explorer (tab) > Text Type is set to 'Long Text' and BEx description is set to 'Long description' already.
When I run/execute the query with this Item characteristic, the results in BEx Analyzer is showing appropriate long text, however, Crystal Report for Enterprise shows short text only

How to display Japanese Text in web page?
Hi,
I am trying to get this i18n stuff right for a few days but don't seem to find all answers.
I am using Sybase databse to store Japanese characters. A perl script inserts the chars in table. Then I use a test JSP program to display the chars.
<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %>
<%@ page language="java" %>
<%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
<%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
<%@ page import="java.util.*" %>
<%@ page import="javax.sql.*" %>
<%@ page import="javax.servlet.*" %>
<%@ page import="javax.servlet.http.*" %>
<%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
<%@ page import="java.text.SimpleDateFormat" %>
<html>
<head><title>testing for utf string</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
</head>
<body>
<%
Connection conn = null;
Statement stmt = null;
ResultSet rs = null;
try{
InitialContext context = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) context.lookup(System.getProperty("TESTDS"));
conn = ds.getConnection();
stmt = conn.createStatement();
rs = stmt.executeQuery("select comment from TestTable");
while(rs.next()){
out.println("<br>");
out.println("the comment is : <Textarea Cols=\"90\" Rows=\"5\" Name=\"Comment\">"+rs.getString(1)+"</Textarea>");
out.println("<br>");
out.println("the comment is "+rs.getString(1));
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}finally{
try{
if(rs != null) {rs.close();}
if(stmt != null) {stmt.close();}
if(conn != null) {conn.close();}
}catch(Exception e){}
%>
</body>
</html>But the page does not display correctly. If I change the charset as JIS, then it seems to work. But my web page will be having chars from multiple language and I think utf-8 is the right charset for that.
Any pointers?
ThanksWhat JSP/Servlet server are you using and what version?
Try this just for debugging:
Remove the rs.getString(1) from the out.println() call. Just assign the returned value to a local String variable and display the variable using (I hope I'm remembering correctly) this:
<%= myVariable %>
I'm curious whether directly inserting the text into the page is somehow different from sending it via out.println.

How do I store and retrieve the Japanese characters into and from a database. My database supports Unicode characters.
But, how do I read the content and put it onto the JSP, and store it back into the database, if required.
I've tried this and my browser doesnt display all the characters even though I select the appropriate encoding in the browser and writing for the same in the JSP too.
Any help with a sample application would be highly appreciated.
cheers,
fun_oneThat will work on both MySql and Microshit SQLServer,
It works for me using Hebrew Charest with UTF-8,
I used this page to convert data from SQLServer to MySql with some manipulations on the way,
the important thing for you to understand the code is to follow the Class.forName and the con/conMY.
you need to install JDBC driver for the database you are using, and that's it you will have it up and working.
I'll be watching for any other questions :-) , have fun,
Mobee.

Japanese text display problems in applet using plugin
Hi,
We've been beating our heads against the wall on this one for quite some time, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Our product uses a third party applet (Kavachart from Visual Engineering) to display graphical statistics from our database. We are currently localizing our product to support english and japanese. With Japanese enabled, all pages use euc-jp encoding. The problem we are running into is in the display of japanese text inside this applet in IE 5 and NS 4.7x when using the java plugin (1.3 or 1.4). If the default jre of the browsers are used, the text in the applet renders fine.
On a suggestion from the supprot folks at Visual Engineering, I modified our code to set the defaultFont parameter on the applet to "serif, 14, 1". With this set, the text in the applet renders ok in IE, but NS on windows and unix is still broken. Given that we are doing all these tests on machines running a native japanese OS, it's not even clear to me why setting the defaultFont should even be required, but at this point, I'll take anything :-)
Has anyone else run into this and either solved it or proven that a solution is not feasible? I'm at my wits end here....
Thanks in advance,
Mark Evangelisto
Synchronicity Inc.If you are using different java plugin, you need to install the international version of the JRE; otherwise, some characters may not be able to display correctly since some of the properties files are missing.
As for Visual Engineering's suggestion. I don't know why they tell you to set the default font on the applet because it may cause the browser to use the font specified. Your applet works on IE because it will try to use the best font to match the web page's content. For NS anything less then 6.0 (technology based on Mozilla), they never display web page correctly especially if you did what VE suggest.
If you are running the applet on the native langauge OS with the international version of the JRE installed, the applet should display correctly without setting the default font. If it is not the native langauge OS, first you need to install the international version of the JRE and have the fonts that are able to display the language the applet use. -
I have just intalled PSElements 12 on a new PC with windows 8.1. It installed ok but when I open it up it displays different than on my windows 7 PC. The buttons and text are tiny and almosy impossible to see even when I drag it to full screen. How do I adjust it to look normal?
Hi Paul ,
It could be a compatibility issue as well as Acrobat 8 is an older version.
Do you get any error message while registering for the product?
Try repairing it and once and also check for updates as well.
Is it happening with all the word files or any specific one'?

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please.
ThanksHello,
Setting up the BEx Property for Object, is not sufficient enough to display in the query output. You can always overwrite the object level settings in the query designing.
Moreover, when you create a query, system always overwrite your object level settings and apply the query level settings.
Make sure, you have selected Long Text in the query for that characteristic.

Offline preview differs from online display of Japanese text
I can't figure out why my web site in English and Japanese cannot correctly display the Japanese type when uploaded. The offline preview is fine, but the online version turns the Japanese to gibberish. I have set the charset="UTF-8" in metatags and in the javascript code.
Thinking that I may have missed a supporting file in the upload, as a test, I downloaded the entire directory and opened the file offline, but it again works fine on my desktop. The same browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox) used for online and offline viewing.
Why won't my Japanese text display online when the offline preview is fine ?Have you set the correct charset on your webpage? If not try to put this within the head tags on your page:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=shift_jis">
Hope this works. -
[Bug Report] CR4E V2: Exported PDF displays Japanese characters incorrectly
We now plan to transport a legacy application from VB to Java with Crystal Reports for Eclipse. It is required to export report as PDF file, but result PDFs display Japanese characters incorrectly for field with some mostly used Japanese fonts (MS Gothic & Mincho).
Here is our sample Crystal Reports project: [download related resources here|http://sites.google.com/site/cr4eexportpdf/example-of-cr4e-export-pdf]
1. PDFExportSample.rpt located under ..\src contains fields with different Japanese fonts.
2. Run SampleViewerFrameClient#main(..) to open a Java Report Viewer:
a) At zoom rate 100%, everything is ok.
b) Change zoom rate to 200% or 50%, some fields in Japanese font collapse.
c) Export to PDF file,
* Fonts "MS Gothic & Mincho": both ASCII & Japanese characters failed.
* Fonts "Meiryo & HGKyokashotai": everything works well.
* Open PDF properties, you will see all fonts are embedded with built-in encoding.
* Interest to note that copy collapsed Japanese characters from Acrobat Reader, then
paste them into a Notepad window, Notepad will show the correct Japanese characters anyway.
It seems PDF export in CR4E mistaking to choose right typeface for Japanese characters
from some TTF file.
3. Open PDFExportSample.rpt in Crystal Report 2008 Designer (trial version), and export it as PDF.
The result PDF displays both ASCII & Japanese characters without any problem.
Test environment as below:
* Windows XP Professional SP3 (Japanese) with MS Office which including extra fonts (i.e. HGKyokashotai)
* Font version: MS Gothic, Mincho, Meiryo, all in Version 5.0
You can download MS Meiryo from Microsoft's Site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=F7D758D2-46FF-4C55-92F2-69AE834AC928&displaylang=en)
* Eclipse 3.5.2
* Crystal Reports for Eclipse, V2, 12.2.207.r916
Can this problem be fixed? If yes how long will it take to release a patch?
We really looking forward to a solution before abandoning CR4E.
Thanks for any reply.I have created a [simple PDF file|http://sites.google.com/site/cr4eexportpdf/inside-the-pdf/simple.pdf?attredirects=0&d=1] exported from CR4E. Look inside into this simple PDF file (you can just open it with your favorite text editor), here is its page content:

It seems everything OK except CR4E failed to choose right typefaces from the TrueType file (msgothic.ttc).
Is it any help? I am looking forward to any solution.
