Displaying lots of text

As you know a text item is limited to displaying 32767 characters. Does anyone know of a way to display a lot more than that (i.e.) a long. Is there a Java Bean or OJC that can be used?

Thomas , I know, the limit for char datatype is 65534(In Byte), I can be wrong.
and for number datatype hold up to 23 bytes (which is the maximum size of an Oracle number in native format). 2^23.
In add, length depend on Data Length Semantics: Byte or Char.

Ssure, it isn't what you are finding, but could you use CLOB/NCLOB
Used to store up to 4G of character data. This datatype stores the full character data in the database.

Advanced Antialias in combination with a lot of text does not show well

I am using embedded fonts in combination with antiAliasType ADVANCED which gives good results for smaller fontsizes.
But if the textField contains a lot of text (> 20000 characters) then part of the text is simply NOT shown. So the first couple of hundreds of lines are shown, then a couple of hundereds are not, then the next again are shown and so on. I have experimented with different values of the sharpness, but without results. Anyone any idea?

I cannot reproduce this issue with neither dynamic nor authoring font embedding approach. All text displays fine.
You may need to make sure that font you embed has all the characters first.

Photoshop CS5 can't handle lots of text..?

Recently migrated to CS5.
Was running Photoshop CS5 just fine for a week, working mainly on images... but now that I need to work on something that has more text in it (like a graphical CV) the screen isn't reflecting the changes I'm making.
I can click inside a text box, but I'll never see the cursor. I can type, but I'll never see what I'm typing. What was there before I clicked the text box is still there. It's like the viewport's frozen.
However, if I exit the text box, zoom out and zoom in... I see the changes I made. Ditto if I move the layer around.
There's something wrong with the viewport refreshing. I even turned off OpenGL, reloaded the whole thing... and it'll only work properly for a minute or two before nothing I do in this document gets immediately displayed. I always have to move the layer around, or do the zoom trick, to see what I did.
What's even more peculiar is that this file is only 5-6 megs in size. I've worked with 6 GB (that's right, GB) files in the past week without any problems, because the text was minimal. But the program can't handle a peanut-sized file if it's got a lot of text in it. It's the weirdest thing.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, what have you done to remedy it?

Unless you can identify which of your corrupt fonts is causing the problem, we won't be able to fix it.
It might be a bug in our code, or in Windows. But it is almost certainly going to be due to a corrupt font file.
We haven't seen that particular problem, or we would have already fixed it.
So we need to know which of your fonts is corrupt and causing the problem.
Font previews are created before you show them, in the background -- a corrupt font file can cause problems when creating the previews and slow things down for a while.

It is possible to Display HTML Formatted Text?

This is what I want to accomplish:
I created a system and now I want to add a help button on each page. This button will open a popup window which will display the help of the current page. (This is done)
But now I want to display a formated text (plain or html) just like this example:

And don't like this other:

This is still a problem...I'd like to add a bit to it.
The HTML Editor correctly places formatting tags around the text and the item is saved to the db (or whatever)...however, when displaying the formatted text on an apex generated page, and it doesn't matter what type of DISPLAY (saved, non-saved, escape, etc..) is being used, Apex places around the text in question which is apparently overriding the html tags, so the text displays in the CSS defaults regardless of the formatting used by the HTML Editor. The reason the formatted text displays correctly in a "report" is because this span doesn't exist.
I'd like to take the time to add a change request and request that item level classes are not buried within apex and the theme. It would be nice if they were displayed on the item, for example, so they could be easily removed or overrided...this span for example overrides even a TD level custom class because of it's placement, so there seems to be little or no way to override it.

How to get data from list of values (LOV) to be displayed in a text field ?

I am very new to Oracle APEX so please spare me if it is a silly question. How can I get the selected values from a set of list of values (LOV) displayed in a text field (or text area or so) ? Fox example, in my form I create 4 items: STATE, COUNTY, STREET, ZIPCODE and all of them are LOV (list of values). I also create 2 buttons (ADD & REMOVE). Then I create a test field (or text area name SELECTED RECORD). Now here is what I want to do with my form:
When I set the values for all 4 fields, I will click on the ADD button then I want those values be displayed in the text field.
For example, if the selected values are:
STATE = Alabama
COUNTY = Abbeville
STREET= 1 Street
ZIPCODE = 36310
And the ADD button is pressed. Then in the text field I want it displays like this:
Alabama,Abbeville,1 Street,36310
If I choose other values and click ADD again, a new line will be added into the text fields (text area). If I click the REMOVE button, then it will clear those two line in the text field.
Would it be possible to do it? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you can live with the page being submitted and refreshed, make your ADD button do a submit with a request value of ADD and make your REMOVE button do a submit with a request value of REMOVE.
Then create two computations (one firing with a condition of Request = ADD and the other firing with a condition of Request = REMOVE).
In the ADD one, concatenate the values together into the text area (most likely a PL/SQL computation wiill be what you want). In the REMOVE one, set it to null with a PL/SQL computation.
If you want it done without submitting the page, make the buttons each do a redirect to a URL but instead you will have to write two short javascript functions in the page HTML header to manipulate the field values. Each button would call each javascript function in an onclick event.

If you want you can display this long text field in ALV but the allignment of the ALV not looks good. so generally we won't display them in the output,
instead, in the interactive list write the code to call that MM03 transaction, and the user can see that text in the transaction when ever double clicked on that MATERIAL field.

How Do I Display HTML Formatted Text From A Data Table In Crystal Reports?

I'm creating reports in Crystal XI. The information being displayed in the reports comes from data tables where the text is formatted in HTML.
I've worked with Crystal Reports enough to know that HTML text pulled from a data table doesn't appear in Crystal the same way it does in a web browser. Crystal Reports ignores all the tags (...unless I'm missing something...) and just displays the text.
Someone far more Crystal savy than I (...who I don't have access to...) came up with a Formula Field workaround that tricks Crystal Reports into displaying some basic HTML tags. Here's that workaround:

1. Right click on the field and select Paragraph tab.

Display key and text by WAD command in custom structure hierarchy

Hi everybody,
I have a query using a custom structure with hierarchy layout. As usual the structure does only display its text as descriptions but I can enable the display the key in BEx Web by right-click on the analysis item --> Properties --> Characteristic --> Display. Unfortunately these setting can not be defined directly in the structure within the Query Designer.
For a workaround I put the query into a web template, in which I used the Set Presentation (SET_PRESENTATION) command to enable key and text display from the start. Hence I put that command in the wem template parameters Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING). Everything is working properly and makes me very happy.
But... there is one thing missing, I would like to implement... I want a toggle button, which allows the user to switch between key and text display and text display. Unfortunately setting the same command from Action Before First Rendering (ACTION_BEFORE_FIRST_RENDERING on a various button does not working. The button command only affects data rows of the leaves of the structure hierarchy. All parent nodes do not change their appearance.
Any ideas how to solve this?

I have maintain the other message of the program in message class but the long message is not fitting into the message class. the message which I want to display is *"Data saved. Market group (&) and market super group (&) saved. Market (&), market (&) and market super group (&) saved" I have tried using text-xxx but it's not allowing after WITH only 4 field allowed.

'Purchase order text' tab displays purchase long text of particular material .
I coded as:

It displays Purchasing tab other than Purchase Order Text tab of MM03.
Please suggest me how can i solve this.

In a PO there are text folders available at Header and Item level. I want POs with type Purchasing document type u2018ZFu2019 ( First Article PO ) should display all the texts entered into any of these folders either at Header level or Item level during print preview and PO output like Purchasing document type u2018NBu2019 ( Standard PO ).

o I found out the differences in debugging of 2 types of Purchasing document type u2018ZFu2019 and u2018NBu2019 .
o Only Purchasing document type u2018NBu2019 the print program processes Text Elements (HEADER_TEXT, ITEM_TEXT, SUPPL_TEXT) to display all the texts entered into any of these folders either at Header level or Item level.
o To control the displaying of Text Elements as I know I need a print program, however, our print program is standard print program of SAP system in this case. So I can not make any changes there.

Problem displaying dynamically loaded text in Flash CS3

I created a Flash CS3 application that does not display
dynamically loaded text (from internal AS3 scripts) on 3/6 of my
client's computers. All computers run IE 6 and Flash Player 9. I
cannot replicate the problem on any computer in my department. The
problem seems to be related to Flash Player 9 or a browser
setting/IT restriction. Has anyone encountered this? If so, have
you found a solution?
If I cannot find a solution, then I will need to almost
completely redo the application.
One slightly insane idea I have considered is to, if
possible, convert dynamically loaded text to an image real-time. Is
that possible?
Btw, I have created a font in my library. Should I try
manually embedding the font from the Properties menu and selecting
all characters?

yes, even though you may be using a font from the library,
you still have to specify that each text field that uses that font
embeds the font, and you'll need to select all characters(well not
all, unless you require all the different scripts of the world -
upper-case, lower-case, numerals and punctuation usual suffices).
I bet if you checked, the computers where the font did not
appear did not have the font on their system.
