Displaying query values horizontally

I have a subreport with a query that returns a single field.
WHat I'd like to do is display it as a list on one line, as opposed
to showing each item on its own line. I couldn't find a
straightforward way to do this, so I tried to come up with a hack
but it's not working too well. What I did was simply output one
field with ValueList(query.FieldName, ", ") and then set the Print
When on the band to query.CurrentRow EQ 1 . Unfortunately the
ValueList() function doesn't seem to be working properly for this.
I tried setting the query to advanced and specifying a query name,
then using that query name in the function and that doesn't work
either. Anybody has any idea how to get ValueList() working or how
to solve my particular problem?

I came up with a solution for this, here it is for the
benefit of others. Basicaly, I created a report function that would
build the list for me. The function is as follows:
<cffunction name="outputAsList">
<cfargument name="qData" />
<cfargument name="col" />
<cfset list = "" />
<cfloop from="1" to="#qData.recordcount#" index="i">
<cfif i GT 1>
<cfset list = list & ", " />
</cfif>
<cfset list = list & qData[arguments.col]
/>
</cfloop>
<cfreturn list />
</cffunction>
Then I set Print When on the subreport band to
query.CurrentRow EQ 1 so that the list would only get output once.
Then in the field I put the following expression:
report.outputAsList(query, "MyColName")
Works fine. Yet another hack, of course, but that's the way I
managed to get what I needed, since ValueList just won't play
nice.

    Hello Sudhir,
    In the LOV part of the 'Edit Page Item' screen you can set the 'Number of Columns' to something else than 1 to layout the item horizontally. You need to enter a fixed length (for your dynamic query), so use something 'big' like 5 or 10 or so.

  • Query values in a form

    I'm trying to use a form to display query values and then pass a value to another page for processing. Here's part of my code
    <%
    rs = statement.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM users WHERE start_date > '7/1/2001');
    %>
    <table>
    <form name = "form1" action = "xyz.jsp" method = "get">
    <% while(rs.next()) %>
    <tr>
    <td><%out.println(rs.getString("user_id);%></td>
    <td><%out.println(rs.getString("user_name);%></td>
    <td><input type ="hidden",
    name="user"
    value="<%out.println(rs.getString("user_name));%>">
    <input type="Submit" value = "Do it">
    </td></tr></form></table>
    In the form that I'm calling I have this code to receive the value:
    String user_in = requet.getParameter("user");
    The problem that I'm having is if the query returns 10 records and the user_id are numbers 1- 10. When I select the second user_id (user_id = 2) to submit, it is always passing the value of the first record (ie user_id = 1). How can I code this to make it pass the correct value?

    How are you selecting second user ? I dont see anything relates to that in your code.
    I dont under stand problem completely but when you create hidden fields in a loop with same name it create create duplicate hidden fields with same name and different values
    replace hidden field code with this
    <%int i =1; %>
    <input type ="hidden",
    name="user"+'<%=i%>'
    value="<%out.println(rs.getString("user_name));%>">
    <%i=i++;%>

  • How can I display the value of the Target Currency variable in my query

    We have a query which has a key figure set to prompt for a Target Currency at runtime.  Because the user did not want the currency displayed in each cell they used the NODIM function to remove it. They do however want to display the Target Currency in a cell within the report.  Using Report Designer, I've tried to set up a Text Box to display this value, however, it is not in the list when looking at Constants, Filters or Variables or trying to display it in a Text box.  Has anyone found a way to be able to do this?

    Hi and thanks for the reply.  I should have stated that because this was a validated query, we'd like to do this without modifying the query and thus having to go through another lengthy validation process. That's why we did not go the route of adding Unit to the query but we may have to.  Another thing we can do is use a text variable in the headers that displays the currency. That works but, again, it's a query change whereas finding it in Report Designer will not require a query modification.

  • How do I get a recordset to display three images horizontally?

    Hi,
    I'm using DWCS3 with MAMP.
    I want to display three images horizontally in a recordset. I have downloaded Tom Muck's extension horizontal looper and followed the instructions.
    However when I tried to add the recordset navigation bar I ran into some problems.
    If I add a repeat region to Tom Muck's extension then the page doesn't load.
    If I don't add a repeat region to Tom's extension everything works really well except only one image displays rather than three.

    Hi Charles,
    Use [Dr%] Variable formula as =if(IsNull([Dr%]);0;[DR%])
    Here IsNull returns the Boolean value of variable [Dr%] if its true then inserts 0 else the percentage values of failed tests based on the  total number of assembly tests performed.
    I Hope this is what you want to achieve....
    Thanks....

  • How to populate right side of Shuttle with display/return values?

    Hello,
    I know, that the proper way to populate the right side of shuttle is that:
    declare
         v_list     apex_application_global.vc_arr2;
    begin
         select profile_name return_value
           bulk     collect
           into     v_list
           from     user_profiles
          where     user_id = :p61_user_id;
         return (apex_util.table_to_string (v_list));
    end;It is comfortable for the user to see the name of the profile.
    However, I need a profile_id as a return value, like I have it on the left side of the shuttle.
    The left side of the shuttle is populated with a select list with display/return values, as you know.
    I need both sides of the shuttle to return profile_id in order to create a merge.
    How is it possible to populate the right side of the Shuttle with display/return values?

    All you have to do is to use the subset of shuttle query to assign value to the right side shuttle.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=50942:95
    I have created a dummy page with shuttle query
    SELECT ename, empno FROM emp ORDER by 1then I have defined a pl-sql before header process to assign values to shuttle variable
    using the code
    begin
    :P95_SHUTTLE := '7566:219:7900:7782:90';
    end;since 90 is not one the result set of the shuttle query it is getting displayed as number, and for others it is displaying the text. Thanks.

  • Display Variable Values in 7.0

    There was an option in BW 3.x to display variable values using technical settings -> display -> variable values.  I do not see this option in 7.0!?  Showing the variable values is a great way to figure out whether or not a customer exit variables are working as expected.  Could someone please help me with finding this option in the BEx analyzer?  Points will be assigned for useful posts?  Thanks for your time.

    Dear Sameer,
    As I understand from your question that you want to debug whether the customer exit variable logic is workinig fine or not. For that you can set a session breakpoint for the variable exit in CMOD. Now use the transaction rsrt to run the query. This will take you to the debug mode and here you can see the variable values and whether the logic is performing as expected or not.

  • Display Filter Values in BEx Report

    I have a BW query that has a dimension (Unit of Measure, UoM) in the filter area.  The user can only select one value for UoM.  The user selects "Z03" which corresponds to a UoM text value of "lb/1000 gal". How do I  display "lb/1000 gallons" at the top of the BEx report.
    If this is not possible, I would like to at least display the value Z03 at the top of the report.  I prefer not to devote a whole column in the BEx report to UOM, since the user can only select one UOM.  I am new to BW and this is my first posting.

    Hi Jeff,
    if you have a variable for UoM you can add the value/text of the variable via textvariable to the query title.
    Please ask if you need more advice on this.

  • Displaying parameter value in the report output

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to display the value 'All' in the report when the user selects 'All' from the list box. Can anyone suggest a way?
    E.g.
    My LOV input to the report has following values, 'A', 'B', 'C', 'All'.
    If I select 'All', all the values A, B, C go into the query . But I need to display this I/P parameter as a field in the RTF showing 'All' in it.

    u can try like this
    if they select all u will have 'a,'b','c' as value in the xml tag right so always the string length of that xml field will be same when you select all . SAY STRING LENGTH WILL be 10 when user select ALL
    ( check the string how much is the value when you select ALL and implement this)
    we can try using string length
    <?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length(XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
    or
    <?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length(//XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',//XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
    So it will display ALL when user selects ALL else the selected value.
    if you are not having parameter values as xml tag then you have use like this
    <?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length($XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',$XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
    assign some points if helpful.

  • Display decimal values in report

    Hi all,
    I have one question concerning the display of decimal values smaller than '1' in a report.
    In an SQL query some calculations are done and the result is displayed in a report.
    The problem is, that if the value of the result is smaller than '1' it shows for example ,8 instead of 0,8
    Does anybody know how to display decimal values normally?
    kind Regards and thanks!!
    Patrick

    Hi SWED!
    1.) Click at the name of your report region (in application builder) to edit it
    2.) Select the "report attributes" tab
    3.) Click at the column you want to format
    4.) Look for the "Column Formatting" region
    5.) Select the proper format from the "Number / Date Format" list or enter your own format like "0.0"
    I hope that will help you along.
    yours sincerely
    Florian W.
