Displaying quiz results

Hello,
I've only been using the program for a short while, so
forgive me if I'm overlooking something basic. That said, can
anyone advise if it's possible to (easily) show some sort of bar
graph as a visual representation of the pass/fail percentage of a
quiz?
Also, I was wondering if there's a way to implement a timer
to countdown the time taken for the entire quiz, not just
individual questions?
I'd appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.
Kind regards,
Frozen...

Hey Arunbe,
To be honest I'm pretty new to the Action Script side of
things - I'm not actually very sure where and how I check that the
variables are declared properly?!
I would really appreciate any pointers you could give me in
this area!!
I have attached some code from the quiz - it might not be the
right thing though!
Thanks for any help you can offer!!!

  • Quiz Results Analyzer - Maximum Records can Display?

We have correctly configured Captivate 7 to store and retrieve records and display in Quiz Analyzer.
Is there any idea on how many student record data, or maximum records can be displayed, hundreds, thousands?
    Thank You

    Hi,
There is a link to the free Quiz Results Analyzer software at the bottom of this page: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/captivate/cp/using/WS365a66ad37c9f510-326cdb51265c9c0730-8000. html
It does not state whether you can download the results on multiple computers, but I would think so. It does state
"Note: To use Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer, you do not require Adobe Captivate installed on your machine."

  • Possible to display quiz time in results?

I'm using a timer interaction to count up to 10 minutes during a quiz.  The goal is for the learner to complete the quiz as quickly as possible.  Is it possible to capture the time when then submit the last question and display it with the quiz results?  For example, if I completed the quiz in 6 minutes and 45 seconds, could I have "Quiz Time - 6:45" displayed on a separate slide?

Should be possible with system variables, and advanced actions. Have a look at: Display Time information - Captivate blog  This post has been written for an older version. Some system variables have a changed name now, I don't know which version you are using, but since you talk about 'interaction' it will be a more recent one. A list with system variables in 6: System variables in Captivate 6 - Captivate blog  and new ones added in 7: New features in Captivate 7.01 - Captivate blog
Sorry, didn't yet publish the new ones in 8.

  • Display user entered textbox on Quiz Results Page

How can you display a the value a user entered on a "text box entry" stored in the Variable cpQuizInfoStudentName
on the Quiz Results slide?  I see the ones in there are "Scoring Result Placeholders" b ut I cannot figure out how to insert a new one that might display that variable.  Am I thinking about this right?

Insert a text container (caption or shape) on the results slide, and insert that variable using the X button in the Format accordion of the Properties panel for that text container. The variable will appear like this:
        $$cpQuizInfoStudentName$$
Because you are talking about a TEB, I hope that you replaced the generic variable (like Text_Entry_Box_1) associated with that TEB (same name as the TEB itself) by this system variable? You can use a similar X button that appears next to that generic variable in the Properties panel of the TEB.
Looooooong time ago I wrote an article about using variables (still for CP4/5): http://blog.lilybiri.com/curious-about-variables-in-captivate-4-5

  • Quiz Results Analyzer results not displaying correctly

We are using Adobe Captivate 6 and posting quizzes to a local server (configured with the .php files.) When we review quiz results using the Quiz Results Analyzer, some of the data is correctly reported. However, the Pass/Fail is not working right (either everybody who takes the quiz passes, or everybody fails.) Also, we are not seeing a total score.
Is there any tutorial for correctly configuring all of the quiz preferences, so that we get the results we are looking for?

Thank you for the link. I have viewed this video in the past.
The issue I'm having is that, in spite of setting the the quiz options for reporting, the data that is received in the xml files is not correct, therefore, it is not being correctly summarized in the Quiz Results Analyzer.
(It would also seem that the screen name I set here is not retaining its modifications.)

  • Want to open another project from Quiz Results - can't get it to work.

I have been trying to get my course to open another project (an instruction slide) after the user completes a quiz and it is not working. The course always closes after the quiz results. I have set the Project End Options and the Pass or Fail options to all open another project (the instruction slide), but instead, after the user clicks 'Continue' on the quiz results page, the course always closes. What could I be missing? (Am using Captivate 5.)

Just finally getting my head above water and am able to respond and update. Yes, I was using a tool called RELOAD to update the imsmanifest file. Actually a great tool that I can recommend now that I worked out the kinks with Captivate. Please see this post for more information. http://www.caddicks.com/blog/2012/02/17/how-to-publish-a-multi-file-captivate-project-as-a -single-scorm-course/#comment-249711
Here's a quick summary of how I ended up resolving this - I can't even remember all the different options I tried until I settled on this! I never resolved the issue with launching another project from the quiz results page, but found a workaround that works even better.
The course starts with a brief introduction module. The 'Continue' button on the last slide is set to launch another project, which opens the course's 'main menu.'
The 'main menu' project has several buttons that launch appropriate sub-topic projects.
On the last slide of each of the 'sub-topic' projects has the 'Continue' button set to launch the 'main menu' again. Each of these had quiz questions, but feedback was set at the question level only - no quiz results page.
The last option on the 'main menu' project was a 'Course Completion' button - which launches a project containing the final quiz. (NOTE: This was always the only project that had the "Show score at the end of the quiz" set to display under Preferences / Quiz / Settings. After a lot of hair-pulling, I realized that it wasn't necessary to open another project to accomplish what I wanted to do, which was return the user to some basic instructions before they retook the quiz.)Here is how the last project was set up.
The first slide is a content slide with instructions for the quiz. When the user clicks the "Back" button from this slide, it will launch the 'main menu' project. 'Next' simply goes to the next slide.
    Slides 2-5 are quiz questions
Slide 6 is the quiz results slide (turned on under Preferences / Quiz / Settings). Buttons are: Review Quiz and Continue.
Slide 7 is a content slide with instructions on what to do next. This slide has a text button that I called "Retry" and under Properties / Reporting for the button the "Include in quiz" is NOT checked. The Retry button takes the user back to the first slide in the quiz.

  • How do i prevent a slide that is after the quiz results page from showing?

HI guys, I am trying to achieve the following in Captivate 6:
    1) Users answer questions. They have 2 attempts to pass with 70% or above.
    2) At the quiz results page, if the score is less than 70%, users get a button to retake the quiz. After the second attempt, If the percent is 70% or above, they can click a button to view a certificate or click a button to see a transcript. If the percent is less than 70%, they click a button to get a transcript but NOT a certificate.
How can i accomplish this since i cannot add buttons to the quiz results page.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I am trying to implement a simple hide/show routine and it does not work. This is what I want.
I have two buttons (one to save a certifcate and one to save a course transcript).  I want to display those on the quiz results screen. The user has two chances to make a 70% or more on the quiz.
If the user obtains less than 70% score on the first try, on the quiz results slide I want to hide the button to save the certificate but keep the one for the transcript. If the user passes with 70 or more, then both icons remain on screen.
IF the user obtains less than 70% after the second try, the quiz results should only show the transcript button. If they pass with 70% or more, then both icons remain on screen.
I tried advance interactions to hide or show the icons in the "on slide enter" on the quiz results screen but that did not work.
This is an example of what i tried. if cpQuizInfoQuizPassPercent is less than 70% hide btncert. I also tried hiding the button and then assigning actions to show the button on passing the 70% but that did not work either.
    Suggestions?

  • How to get the output .pdf file of a quiz to report to the quiz results analyzer on my internal server (mamp)

    I created a quiz.
Created an internal server on my compute rising a MAMP.
When I publish my quiz using the multi-file publishing options...
I am able to use both the "HTML" and the "swf" output files to complete a quiz and reporting the results to the quiz results analyzer.
However, I am unable to get the output .pdf field to reporting to the quiz results analyzer.
Any help? Would this issue have to do with the Acrobat Professional setting? Captivate setting? My internal server setting? or output fuel placement?
I tired to put the .pdf file in the same MAMP root folder location as my "internalserverreporting.php and internalserverread.php files.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello Varun,
You cqan submit the report as a JOB and export the out put to memory, once the job is complete you can read the list to display the output.
    Cheers,
    Mano
Cut & Paste form SAP help.
    Submit report ....
    EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
Does not display the output list of the called report, but saves it in ABAP memory and leaves the called report immediately. Since the calling program can read the list from memory and process it further, you need to use the addition ... AND RETURN . Also, since the called report cannot be requested for printing, the addition ... TO SAP-SPOOL is not allowed here. In addition, you must not assign a function code to the ENTER key in the current GUI status. The saved list is read from the SAP memory using the function module 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY' and can then be saved to the database using EXPORT, for example. You can process this list further with the function modules 'WRITE_LIST', 'DISPLAY_LIST' ... of the function group "SLST".

  • How do I see email address (LearnerID) in Quiz Results Analyzer

    Useing Captivate 5.5
Reporting Quiz results to a local server.
Q: How can I see the "LearnerID" (students email address) in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer?
When the student clicks on "Post Results" and enters their name and email address in the pop-up window the email address is collected. You can see the email address (LearnerID) in the resulting XML file that's saved in the CaptivateResults folder.
Problem is I can't see the email address in the Analyzer, and don't see an option to include it. How can I see the "LearnerID" or the students email address in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer? From here I want to export a CSV file.

Thanks for your response. The quiz results analyzer is awesome, but without the display of email addresses it is not a total solution.
I'm using an internal server and what I found out is that the .xml file that Captivate creates in the CaptivateResults folder (that Captivate also creates) contains the email addresses.
So, rather than use the analyzer, I will have to figure out the best way to view email addresses from the xml file. If anyone has a solution that you are happy with, please let me know.

  • Quiz result not showing up in Edge

    Hi there Edgers
Really hoping someone can help me out with this problem. I've used Redesigns code(Seen Below) to design a quiz in Animate.
I have two problems, when the first question is answered, it skips to the 3rd question instead of the 2nd. I am not sure why this is as I have have checked for overlapping buttons, there are none and it does not occur on any other questions, only the first. Second problem is the quiz reult is not showing up at the end, I have the "grade" and "result" divs in my timeline but when they are reached they do not change to display the quiz results.
    Help would be much appeciated

    George

In you if statement you need to change  the if statement from i=7 to i==7;  when you compare you need the double equal sign.
    var FinalScoreHolder = q1 + q2 + q3 + q4 + q5 +q6 +q7;
              if (i==7){
                        //var FinalScoreHolder = q1 + q2 + q3;

                        sym.play("pass");
                        } else {
// play the timeline from the given position (ms or label)
                        sym.play("fail");

  • Dynamit Quiz Results Slide Messages

I have a quiz that gives two attempts to pass.  At runtime execution, if you fail the first attempt, the results page says "Failed, click retake".  If the user fails the retake it says "You failed the retake, close window.".  If the user closes the SCO and re-opens it, bookmarking kicks in and they're brought immediately to the Quiz Results page, BUT.......my dynamic text box messages are all garbled (they all appear at the same time).
Since re-launching the SCO makes the SCO player think it's "attempt 1" all over again, what kind of conditional messages / variables can I use to essentially hide the original dynamic messages, but display a third message basically saying "Here are your results, you have no further attempts allowed" ?

Figured it out myself.  If you relaunch the SCO and bookmarking is involved for failures, you're executing Quiz Attempt = 0.  Based on that, I can make my third dynamic statement!

  • Cap 4 Quiz Results page not restoring data properly

I'm testing a Quiz built in Captivate 4 SCORM 1.2 which allows 5 attempts to achieve a passing score of 100.  If the user fails, exits on the Quiz Results page, and then relaunches (bookmarked back to the Results page), the values displayed (score, number of questions correct, number of attempts) are not correct.  Score is 1 or 4 or a random number, attempts goes back to 1.  I am able to analyze the saved cmi data to see that the correct data has indeed made it to the LMS.  And if the user clicks Retake for another attempt, the Results page will then update and show the correct number of attempts.  So Captivate is reading in the saved number of attempts.  But it seems like Captivate displays the Results page before it has fully retrieved the cmi data.  Has anybody else had this issue?  Any work-arounds?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Adobe Captivate 6 problem with Review area text on Quiz results page

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 6 and I have a test at the end of my project with the built in 'Quiz results page' at the end.
However, the standard 'review area' provided always seems to play up for me. I have changed the 'quiz results messages' through the preferences and changed the font of the review area, but everytime I play my project the message displayed is in a different font that I did not set and the size is so large that the sentence goes off the screen. It has done this on numerous projects.
I have changed the font of the review area and it shows up on my normal view, but everytime I preview the project or publish it, the font changes back to a strange default.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thank you.

    Hannah,
That is a very well-known bug in the last Captivate versions... if you screen these forums you'll find multiple threads complaining about it. Some fonts will work, I think Calibri works (not all styles however) and all the other fonts revert to Times New Roman. I'm a bit puzzled that you call it a 'strange default'.

  • Incorrect fonts on Quiz results screen

    Hello,
I'm using font Frutiger for a captivate course, upon a client request. On my computer, everything is fine. On the client's computer, all screens show frutiger, except the quiz results screen. The labels do appear in Frutiger, but the variables ( {correct-questions}, {total-questions}, etc...) display a different font ( I think it's Times New Roman). Does this mean that the end-user must have installed the font type defined for the variable to see it as desired?
    Thanks

Yes - I believe Captivate does not embed fonts, so if the font is not installed, the Flash player will substitute a font for you.
If you have access to Flash, maybe if you embed the Frutiger font in a small Flash file, then place that somewhere within your application, then perhaps Captivate will pick up the font in the Flash swf and use it when published?
If this works, that should also help with the aliased text.

  • Capture Trainer in Quiz Results

We are using Presenter 6.1 and Office 2003. On our shop floor we have trainers that want to lead a trainee through a quiz and then in the Quiz results capture who the trainer was. We are capturing the trainee as that person logs into Connect to access their training and quiz. How do I capture the trainer in the quiz results and for further reporting.

Thanks for the response.  I have both a pretest and posttest in this project.  I have the pretest score variable set to appear in the results page so the learner can compare pretest and posttest scores.  I would like the post test results to appear on the results page as well, but those are displaying as NaN.
These are my Advanced Interaction pages. Not sure what I need to change.
    Pretest are slides 10-14.
This is the quiz properties for one of the pretest questions.
Posttest Slides are slides 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46.  (I created feedback slides in between.)
This is quiz poperties for one of the posttest questions:
What do I need to do fix the NaN?
