Displaying Runtime Generated Files
We have a servlet that creates Excel Spreadsheets during runtime and deposits the
files on the server. Since the files are not part of the war file, how can I
create a html link to display the files in a browser?

What do you mean display? Are you sending PDF content directly? Because I don't think this is going to be possible to do it that way...

How to serve runtime generated file on WAS?
Hi,
In short: where (local path on application server) should I store a file (generated at runtime) in order to be able to offer it for downloading (via WAS)?
Context: I have a BSP application and I want to generate a PDF file (in the BSP app) and store that PDF locally on the server. In which local folder do I need to store that pdf so that it will be available remotely via WAS? Is there some folder in the local system that serves as WAS root folder?

I wouldn't open the file system of the WAS for the public and let the WAS read the file itself and serve it to the client.

Als take care when converting to PDF that you use unique file names in case you want to keep the files.

WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT sometimes doesn't display the generated PDF file

Everything works fine except the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT part. In some clients, this command does what it required from it and opens a new browser window with the PDF report displayed on it. In some other clients, this command does nothing: now window dispalyed. When I refer to the Application Server, I see the PDF report successfully generated there. When I put the URL of the generated report manually in the browser address, I can see the report.

<b>Why the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT doesn't display the generated PDF report in some clients?</b>I agree with the previous 2 posters.
Also firefox and ie handle it differently. Make sure you test on what your clients use.
Sometimes acrotray.exe is completely retarded and doesn't work. -

Solution
Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
Note: [OraHome] is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
[OraHome] with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
[JacobStage] is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
cd [JacobStage]
copy jacob.jar [OraHome]\forms\java\.
copy jacob.dll [OraHome]\forms\webutil\.
The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
Open a DOS command prompt.
Add [OraHome]\jdk\bin to the PATH:
set PATH=[OraHome]\jdk\bin;%PATH%
Sign the files, and check the output for success:
[OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
[OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\jacob.jar
4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
you may skip this step. Otherwise,
Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
Open [OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
errors.
Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
CONNECT webutil/[password]@[connectstring]
@[OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql

CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
grant execute on webutil_db to public;
5) Modify [OraHome]\forms\server\default.env, and append [OraHome]\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
to the CLASSPATH entry.
6) Start the OC4J instance
7) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in
Note 303682.1
If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
8) Create a new FMB.
Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
NULL;
to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
show_webutil_information (TRUE);
in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
9) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
the "Application Server URL" is empty.
Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil

Crystal Report 11, List of Runtime DLLs, Runtime.hlp File
I am using Crystal Report 11 with my Delphi 7 application.
I need the list of runtime dlls which I will need to distribute with my application.
The Help file which comes with the Delphi 7 VCL Component (UCRPE32.hlp) says :

and make sure you have all the files.

I could not find the RUNTIME.HLP file in any folder/subfolders on the machine where Crystal Report 11 has been installed.
Can somebody tell me where I can find RUNTIME.HLP file or the list of runtime DLLs which is required to be distributed
along with my application(which is written in Delphi 7).

Business Objects does not support manual deployment of their runtime files. This started with the release of CR XI (v11.0). Please see [Business Objects Note 1218571|https://bcp.wdf.sap.corp/sap/sapnotes/display/0001218571] - How to distribute the Report Designer Component (RDC) in Crystal Reports XI for more information.
You may also want to review the RDC deployment article - [Creating an RDC Distribution Package|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/901c0761-cf1d-2b10-dea4-8e83937a9337] - that can be found on the SAP web site as well.
The RDC merge modules do not include the CRPE32.dll. Since you're using the VCL you'll probably have to add that file manually to your deployment package.
The merge module links in these articles have probably changed. Go to the [Business Objects Support Software Download|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm] page to find the RDC merge modules.
Change the Selection Criteria to this:
Software Product: Crystal Reports
Product Version: XI, XI Release 1, or XI Release 2 (depending on your version of Crystal Reports)
Software Type: Utility
You should also be aware of the fact that the VCL is not being updated any longer. I think the XI (v11.0) version is the last one that will be available. Additionally, the Report Designer Component (RDC) has been retired with the release of CR 2008. Going forward you'll have to migrate to .NET SDK or the Crystal Report Java SDK.

Want to display a .bmp file in reports
Hello there
I am trying to display a .bmp file on reports which I think is simple.the main problem is that After making changes to report we transfer the report file to Unix and then generate the report in unix and print it and in that process the report stops printing.

Jhamake sure SOURCE FILENAME is valid in your LINK FILE pointing to the image.bmp
Report compiles nicely even with wrong source filename, only when opening layout editor an error message will appear. -
Not generate file using ItemAdded Event in SharePoint Online
I develop a list item event receiver For Sharepoint online.I upload the .wsp file in solution and activate the feature On ItemAdded event I create/generate document on 15 document library based on library template.
Some time it generate all 15 files and sometime it generate 8/10/12 files.
i.e not generate files in all the document library.
It work fine in my local server.

Filespaces in generated file names - unfortunate
I'm trying to upload all the files generated by an export to directory. Many of the auto-generated file names use the name of a page (which is displayed in the navigation - so i don't want to remove the spaces).
This creates files with blanks in the name, and most FTP implementations will choke on this.
#1 - this should be fixed
#2 - does anyone have a workaround for managing this?Spaces are not valid in web pages. If used, they have to be escaped with %20
If you want to change the names of files before trying to use them with some web publishing program, this shell script might be of use. It changes spaces to _ makes upper case letters lower case, etc.

we are generating a tree.xml file in server side as follows.

P MYou can use a servlet to deliver the image data to the <img tag, which allows you to get the data from something other than a file on the server (e.g. store the image data as a session attribute with a generated attribute key, the key being given in the serlvet's query string).

JSP Registry could not locate runtime property file
At runtime, my JSP is throwing an exception claiming to be not able to find the property
file. I have found the exact property file in the jar located on the server. I've
tried extracting it and placing it in different places and adding the file and directory
to the WebLogic classpath. I'm not sure what else to try.
Here's the exception:

When you generate a webapp or use the JSP element wizard , a property file is created for you that contains some startup parameters. This file needs to be available in the classpath. This errors comes up becuase the file is not avalable in the classpath.

Display MS word file in Office control
Hi all,
I am using the Office control UI element to display a MS word file in WD application. I have created a Mime object for the word file and get this file data into a Xstring attribute, and bind this attribute with the datasource property of the Office control.
But at the runtime I am not able to display the Word file, it displays only a White colour container with text SAP IOS. Can anyone suggest me how I can get the word file in WD component using office control.
I have also checked SOIS pakage, but didn't get any solution from the example given in this package.
For your reference I am using the below code to get the mime object in Xstring attribute.

Sending Email after generating Files
Hi Experts,
My requirement is very specific , I am using PI 7.0 and the scenario is outbound proxy to file.
I am required to generate some files from the incoming XML structure and place them on a destination folder.
But it is also required that there must be an email sent to a set of id's as soon as the files are created , I have three questions :
a) What is the mechanism by which SAP XI can get an acknowledgement back from the folder after the file creation to send an email ?? Is it possible to receive an acknowldgement in this scenario and send email via mail adapter
b) Should SAP XI send an acknowledgement back to SAP after generating files or after the File receiver Adapter bean is excuted for SAP to send the email ?
c) Do i have to use BPM essentialy for this ? and if yes .. can you please forward some links specific to this scenario , i have never done BPM

I need my page to display programmatically generated SVG image. but if i directly pass SVG string to the page like <h:outputText value="#{MyBean.SVGresult}"/> it will pop up a download dialog box. what should i do to properly include my svg into the page by using embed tag??The h:graphicImage does not appear to handle svg; maybe it should be extended. I am posting a fragment from my XSD. JAXB generates the files and compiles fine, but during runtime, I get a NoClassDefFound error when it tries to look for a particular file. This is the xsd :

I see all the generated interfaces. But in impl folder, I do not see the class for AddressLine. Thus I get this error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.abc.my.generated.files.impl.BillingAddressTypeImpl$AddressLinesTypeImpl$AddressLineTypeImpl
I see the interface for BillingAddressType$AddressLinesType$AddressLineType but NO impl.
Anyone know what the issue is. I am certain it is related to the way xsd is defined for AddressLine but am not sure whats the issue.
Any help will be appreciated.

AshishDont bother looking into this. I found the issue.
I saw that jaxb is generating the files and compiling them all well. But then, when i try to jar them or zip them, the files with names > 128 chars do not make it to the jar/zip. Windows does not recognize files name >128 chars. U cannot name a file that long. So, there were 2 files that were > 128 and thus were not making into the jar and thus NoClassDefFound error.
Very interesting. Took 2 days of my time.
