Displaying Success/failurre messages in a struts landing page.

Hi,
I am selecting some values from a landing page, going to add/update page andthen submitting the data from add/update.
After that the control comes to the landing page and I am displaying the message " successfully edited" in the landing page.
Now the problem is if I come to landing page from any other page after this operation, the old message is still retained.
how to overcome this?
I am writing the messgaes to the session and retrieving it in the JSP page(Struts).
Thanks,
Dommu

DommuWell if i were you i'd have define and ActionError object and would have have added respective status message under respective action method and could have forwaded it to the respective landing View and render it accordingly using <html:errors/> tag.
or to put it in simple in struts 1.3 i'd have used the below methods.
[http://struts.apache.org/1.x/struts-core/apidocs/org/apache/struts/action/Action.html#addErrors(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest,%20org.apache.struts.action.ActionMessages)]
[http://struts.apache.org/1.x/struts-core/apidocs/org/apache/struts/action/Action.html#addMessages(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest,%20org.apache.struts.action.ActionMessages)]
And i'd advice you to go through Best Practices which we can follow at the time of Application Devolopment using struts-1.2 framework in front-controller tier.

Hope that might help :)

    Hello,
    We can use an exporting parameter like single character field like 'S' for success and 'E' for error instead of a message.
    Another option is you can use the Tables parameter and populate Return table with error or success message. Return table of type 'BAPIRET2'.
    Hope this might help you!

    Hello,
    Dont think you can use custom message classes in RFC's. Try using a generic message and check if the message is being populated.

  • ICI - How to display custom error messages in SAP CRM

    Hello,
    we are working on a custom Contact Center which interfaces with SAP CRM Version 7 with Enhancement Package over ICI.
    The basic call functions like accepting, hanging up, holding and retrieving are fully implemented and are working already.
    Our goal is to display error messages in the CRM so that clients know there is something wrong, for example why he can't be log in successfully (e.g. the telephony server isn't reachable).
    We already found the ICI Documentation file which provides us the CRM SOAP error codes and tried to send SOAP Fault messages, but never got
    them to screen.
    Please find an attached example screenshot what we mean exactly, reproduced by trying to make a call with CRM user while BCM CDT isn't
    running in the background.
    Regarding to this topic we've the following questions:
    - Is it possible to display custom error messages on the CRM or is this functionality limited to SAP?
    - Could you provide us some further information on how to use this feature exactly (implementation details?) and how the SOAP XML should look like to get it work?
    Thank you in advance!

    I need to create an entity adapter and attach an error handler with the adapter? or can i handle that in the event handler itself. I coulnt find any api for handling errorsYou can do it both ways but since we are talking about event handler now, then in 9.x you need to extend com.thortech.xl.client.events.tcBaseEvent class for creating a event handler. In tcBaseEvent class there are various flavors of handleError method. So use that as per my note earlier and you should be good.

  • Javascript to Display message and return to home page

    Hi
    I have a requirement to display an acknowledgement message after a button has been pressed and return to home page.
    I created some JS and tested on a standalone button.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function GoToHome_ack()
    alert("Authorisation Created!");
    // goto to page 1
    location.href = "f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.";
    </script>
    Now the problem is I need to call this code after I have successfully executed 2 Processes conditionally on a Create Authorisation Button
    The only logical place I tried to place the call was on the conditional Branch URL, because I need the Processes to execute first.
    javascript:GoToHome_ack();
    Unfortunately this failed
    Anybody any suggestions ??
    Regards
    Ade

    Hi,
    Quickly what come my mind is that create blank page and place to HTML header
    <script type="text/javascript">
    alert("Authorisation Created!");
    // goto to page 1
    location.href = "f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.";
    </script>Then branch to that page instead javascript:GoToHome_ack();

  • Displaying Friendly Maintenance Message

    Dear All
    When we are carrying out maintenance on our SharePoint site, I would like to display a friendly message to our users to tell them that maintenance is underway.
    I have read lots of articles about using app_offline.htm but this will not work for us because I (and my team of 2 others) need to still be able to use our SharePoint site. For example, I might be making significant changes to the structure of our SharePoint
    sites and changing lots of hyperlinks in the menus, during which time I do not want our users to be able to access the site. They should land on the friendly maintenance message but I need to be able to continue accessing SharePoint.
    The app_offline.htm completely shuts down the application which is not what I am looking for here. Please could someone help me figure a way to display a friendly maintenance message whilst the site is still usable for administrators or users of a certain
    group? I can't find a way around it.
    Many thanks for your help
    Daniel

    Dear Ram
    Thank you for your advice, much appreciated. Would that work for short periods of maintenance, let's say if I wanted to take the site down for 15 minutes whilst I work on something?
    I don't have a good understanding of DNS but I thought that it has to propagate around the WWW. I wouldn't want any changes to the DSN to cause longer lasting access issues. Will things work straight away as soon as I change the DNS back?
    Thanks
    Dan

  • How displaying an alert message called from a database procedure

    Hi,
    How can I display an alert message that is called from a database procedure.
    I've tried the following code:
    l_al_button NUMBER;
    l_al_message VARCHAR2(80);
    l_al_id ALERT;
    Set_Alert_Property(l_al_id, alert_message_text,l_al_message);
    l_al_Button := show_alert(l_al_id);
    When trying I receive an error that says that the word ALERT need to be declared.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    leave the procedure without error handling.
    This is what you can do:
    1.Inside the database procedure-
    BEGIN
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20001, 'The chosen length of the Public Key Exponent ....');
    END;
    2.Into your Form -
    BEGIN
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    IF sqlcode = '-20001' THEN
    Display Your Messages.
    END IF;
    Monica
    END;
