Dispose Report closes all Excel spreadsheets

With Report generation toolkit, I am creating an excel spreadsheet. I create a "New Report", do stuff and "Dispose Report". When I "Dispose Report", it closes ALL excel spreadsheets that are open, including ones that are not part of the LabVIEW application, with no warning. Is this correct? How do I avoid this annoying behavior?

Henry,
As Zvezdana mentioned the 1.0 version of the Report Generation Toolkit does work this way. Since that behavior isn't very desirable it has been changed in the 1.1 version of the toolkit which released in March. The new version only closes the report for the particular reference being disposed. You also have the option of not closing the report when you dispose the reference.

  • Report output to excel spreadsheet

    Hi,
I have a matrix report which will be run through oracle apps by the user. Now the user will open the output file in excel spreadsheet for further analysis.
I can not create an ascii file as it is a matrix type report. What could be the best solution ?
    Thanks.

Thank you so much Marwim. Your suggestion is very helpful. But I have some other Oracle reports which have only one .rdf file giving output in both pdf and Excel. This doubt might be silly. Almost same features were existing for the rdf what I am working now. For the remaining reports, it was given that DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET , what this report lacks. I googled and found these links http://docs.oracle.com/html/B13895_01/orbr_paptoexcel.htm &
http://docs.oracle.com/html/B13895_01/orbr_paptoexcel.htm#CIHFDJAJ . But they are not intended for excel output. they generate only web layout in spreadsheet form. Could you please suggest any other ways to achieve this.
    Thank you in advacne.

  • Numbers automatically opening all excel spreadsheets

Help!  I had to restore all my data recently after getting a new harddrive and now all of my excel documents (Office:mac 2011) are automatically opening in Numbers.  I can't figure out how to "turn this off"!!!
    Steph

Solved by using finder to find an excel file and pressing cmd i to open the get info tab. In the middle of that tab you can choose which application will be used to open the file and also to select that you want all similar files opened with that same application, in this case excel.

  • Build EXE error in excel dispose report

I have seen much discussion about path-relative-to-current vi problems when building EXE apps.
I am compiling an EXE which happens largely successfully, but when it encounters the Excel Dispose Report vi at the end of my Excel report creation section, it stops with 'error 7 at open vi reference in Dispose report  ...excel quit vi   ... file not found'.  It works without a problem in the un-compiled version. I am just using the standard Excel Dispose Report vi out of the report generation library.
Can anyone enlighten me about how to clear this problem?

    Fred,
Did you include the dynamic VIs?  See: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C38CE3F30542D65B86256F0E00740DD8

  • IMporting Excel Spreadsheets

    Hello
We recently upgraded RH in our company from x5 to HTML 6,
build 099. In a project I worked on with X5, I had imported Excel
spreadsheets saved as html and generated a primary layout without
any problem. However, in 6, when I would generate a layout, it
would get to Updating Files and RH would crash without any error. I
narrowed it down to 10 html files that were all Excel spreadsheets
saved as html and imported into my project in x5. If I deleted
those 10 files, the project would generate the layout. If I
imported any of those files, it would crash again.
To recreate the spreadsheets in RH wold just be too time
consuming, and really inefficient as I expect to get regular
updates on these spreadsheets to have available on this website via
our intranet. Has anyone encountered this before? and
    recommendations?
    Thanks!

Hi BradPrid and welcome to our community
Did these spreadsheet files have any conditional text
applied? If so, I believe a problem exists with merged table cells
(which seem quite likely coming from Excel) when you use
    conditional text.
If you can't seem to sort it, one thought would be to simply
import the Excel HTML files as baggage files. Then simply link to
    them or maybe use redirects.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to get an effective EXCEL Spreadsheet as output for Oracle report 10g

    Hi All,
I am a newbie in Oracle reporting. I am using 10g. I have an oracle report whose output format is PDF from the user interface. User asked for Spreadsheet output. I changed the JAVA CODE "desformat" = Spreadsheet and got the report in Excel. But this report is not as expected as it has many blank cells, misplacements etc and looks really ugly. so Is there anyway to get an excellent spreadsheet as output.
If anybody needs any more information on this, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

  • LV 2009 Dispose report leaves Excel in memory

    Hello all,
I am hoping somebody can help, we think that the below problem is part of a larger problem where LV2009 is crashing on our server with memory is full errors.
In the attached vi which contains the excel portion of our larger vi with dummy data, it duplicates the issue where everything seems to run OK, but when you check windows task manager it appears the Excel is staying in memory after this executes. Despite the dispose report being at the end of the chain.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

  • Dispose Report.vi cannot release excel

    HI.
This is my first time to use the sub vi to generate excel file.
I have used New report.vi and Dispose report.vi from the report generation kit but I can see from the Window Tast Manager, the excel .exe is stil running after the Dispose report.vi.As a result of that, I cannot see the excel file when my LabVIEW programme is running.
Actually is it normal for that ?
    Thanks in advance.
    IO

    Dear Brian K,
    Thanks for your reply.
Actually I have used the VIs in the toolkit to generate the excel file.
My flow is : generate new excel file>make a new name to the worksheet to A>add a title to the data in sheet A>put the data in the worksheet A>save the file>select the other worksheet>name the worksheet to B>put some data to it>save the file>create graph >put data to graph>change the graph proporties>save the file>maxmize the excel window>dispose report.
I have setted the whole programme to be continously running.
What I suppposed is the excel file will be released after the first looping, then it will active again when the flow is reach to the VI to create excel file but in the real case, it doesn't behave like that.
So I don't know whether I have got anything wrong with my flow or it's normal for that in LabVIEW.
    Thanks in advance,
    Io Hui

  • Closing Report Preview window closes all parent windows

I have a form 6.0 calling a report 6.0 with several user parameters using run_report_object in preview mode. After the finishing previewing, the user closes the report preview window. Then the preview window closes all the parent windows.
    Need help!
    1) The parameters are char, date and number types.
    2) I don't have a parameter form. I take out the high-light of the parameters on the parameter form and the parameter form title.
    3) I have several user parameters and without the parameter form i'm still able to pass the parameters from the Form.
    Thanks

report_other parameter can only take 255? characters.
I use create parameter list and add_parameter instead.

I have a windows 7 system and use Adobe Reader XI, 11.0.05  All my excel spreadsheet files have converted to Adobe files and I cannot access my excel spreadsheets.  I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled the version all over, and I also downloaded a security patch, however, I am still having the same problem.  Does anyone know what is causing this to happen and what I might be able to do to fix this ?  Thank you

I don't understand; did you really convert all your Excel docs to PDF (how?), or did you merely lose/change the file association?
If the latter, that's really easy: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/windows7/change-the-program-that-opens-a-type-of-file

  • Download all the Dashboard reports to one excel tab

    Hi,
I have 2 separate reports in Dashboard, can i download this Dashboard reports to one excel page for user validation process.Currently i only see HTML and PDF options for complete Dashboard donwload.
    Thanks in advance.

You cannot directly download all the requests on a dashboard to Excel. A workaround is to click on the print dashboard button and select HTML. Save this HTML file as a xxx.mht. Now open the xxx.mht with Excel. Doesn't look great but is readable.
Hope this answers your question. Please award points if helpful.
    Thanks,

  • ALV Report output in Excel format

    Hi ,
I am facing a different behaviour in two computers , while trying to take an Excel format of an ALV report output. After generating the ALV output ,in one , when I click on the Excel Format button - the Excel spreadsheet opens with the output data. In the second computed , under the same action , a blank Excel sheet opens .
Could someone tell me a solution . What aspect is responsible for this ?
    Regards ,
    Sujata

Reduce the MACRO security settings in the Excel to Medium.
Open an execl sheet, Chose from menu Tootls->Macro->Security.
Chose the radio-buton medium. Close the file and all excel applications. Then try downloading again.

  • How do I show/refresh data from an Access Web App in an Excel spreadsheet saved in a Document Library on Sharepoint 2013 online

I have an Access 2013 Web App in my Sharepoint 2013 online website. It contains a query to report on its data (several, actually, but let's keep it simple). I want to connect an Excel spreadsheet to the query, visualise the data in pivot tables/graphs/whatever,
save the spreadsheet in a Document Library, and let other team site Sharepoint users open the spreadsheet (preferably in Excel online, but with Excel client if it has to be) and see/copy the data, refreshed with the latest information from the Access Web App.
    Simple, surely!
The way I'm doing it at the moment is to create an ODC file to connect to the cloud-based Access 2013 database, save that ODC in a Data Connection Library in the SP site, and use the saved ODC file as data source in the Excel spreadsheet. This works and
successfully keeps everything 'in the cloud' but I can't get it to refresh in Excel Online, and if I open the spreadsheet in Excel Client I have to enter the database password every time to refresh it. I don't really want to issue this password to everyone
who might want to view the data. There must be a better way than this ODC method, I suspect.
Googlings on this have led down various blind alleys - Excel Services, PowerPivots, Web Parts - but I'm stuck on which to follow through. Please, someone, point me to an article/book/website that explains how to do this step-by-step in simple language..
    thanks
    Jonathan

I don't see any quick way of achieving it - at least there's no such functionality exists in SharePoint. All you can do, develop an event receiver that will update the fields in the list item once the excel file is added/updated. You can use OpenXml API
    to manipulate the excel file.

  • Report Generation Toolkit - Excel Templates

Hi,  I've created an Excel Template with a single formatted
worksheet.  I need to generate a report with a varying number of
worksheets but all based on the same template.  I tried it using

How can I use the template's worksheet format for each worksheet that
    gets added?

    Hey Guys,
I know this post if kind of old but I hope maybe one of you can help me out.  I'm using an invoke node similar to what is above to print out an Excel spreadsheet to the default printer.  My issue is that when I try to print from the spreadsheet from the executable, the executable crashes.  I know it is that invoke node. The reason why I say that is because until recently I had two development computers, one running on Windows 7 LabVIEW 2010, and one running on Windows XP LabVIEW2010.  The original .exe was built with the XP machine, when I tried to make some changes with the Windows 7 machine and open the project it would say that there was a missing connection to the invoke node even though I did not touch that part of the application. I would then remove the invoke node, add it again and it would clear the error for whatever reason. I would then build the .exe with the Windows 7 machine and when it would run, the application would crash at the point where it goes to print the spreadsheet.  I got around this by building the .exe with the Windows XP machine, and it worked fine without any issues. However, my Windows XP machine cra**ed out so i'm no longer able to build the .exe on the XP machine .  I needed to make some changes to the .exe not anything involving this section of the code and for whatever reason when the application goes to print it crashes.  I get some criptic crash report from Windows that is pretty much useless.  I think its a Windows thing. This was workign correctly though until I did a build on the Windows 7 machine.
