Distiller 9 Font Dropping Off in some places

Our work flow is as follows:
.ps files are created in Quark 7.5, exported to a watched folder and distilled (all fonts embedded) generating a pdf.
Said pdf files are then placed into a new multi-page Quark document (the pdfs are ad files in a newspaper) and the whole document is exported as multi .ps files and distilled on my computer in distiller 9.2
This is where the problem starts. Some glyphs are missing from ad files at random in the final PDF'ed piece. Pre-flight does not catch this problem and re-pdfing the same postscript file always remedys the situation. I am trying to find a way to erradicate this problem because I do not always catch these missing glyphs and the paper goes to press like this.
I have included a file. The ad in the lower left is missing part of its title. What is strange is all fonts on these placed pdfs are embedded so the re-pdfing process should not change the overall result. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if we can just get prefllight to spot this problem (it's blind to it thus far).

Yeah, I see the missing text. This may sound crazy but have you tried taking the hot folder out of the equation? You might consider a way of streamlining that workflow. As strange as it may sound I have had instances where text dropped off when sending an .eps through Distiller, yielding different results then having the preset I wanted set in Distiller and dragging and dropping the .eps onto the Acrobat icon. The different was, going straight through Distiller made text disappear. I posted a question about this happening on this very forum and was told there is no difference in what occurs when these two different ways of creating a PDF are implemented. These .eps files also had fonts embedded.
When I make PDF files from Quark I always use File>Export>Layout as PDF. Sounds like you may need to do some testing with this problamatic file. The up shot is, you may be abel to work up a better workflow and reduce your cycle times.

Im trying to create an Applescript, as a Droplet, that copies all Files or Folders that i drop on it, to a predefined folder.
This is what i did:

I've tried several ways but they all end up with error messages, or with only working on one file,
but not in 2 or more files.
I already had a look on shell commands like this "-cp" shellscript, but i dont know how to use them.

Take a look at the Finder's scripting dictionary. The copy command is not implemented yet, and when/if it is, it will be for the clipboard. The command you are looking for is duplicate (or move).

Why do some songs "drop" off a video clip???

I purchased songs from ITunes to add to video clips in an IMovie project. However, some of these songs always drop off the clips. The timeline shows the name of the song, but there is no audio. Other songs work fine. Just about every affected song shows a yellow warning with an exclamation point on it.
Anything you can help me with?

This may be happening because there is no album name for those songs. Since the song with an album title does show up, try naming the albums for the other three songs. They'll probably show up.

When I try to open the "markets" page on the Firefox hompage, it displays for 3 or 4 seconds and then drops off; I get a white screen; this does not happen with Explorer.

Unknown font name appearing in some styles

After importing xml and applying fonts with XML rules, there are some places in my document - typically, lines with nothing but an insertion point from a \r above - that have [No Paragraph Style] or an existing style applied, however, the Font and Font Style are [Times] and [Roman] respectively. I don't know where these come from, and do not know how to get rid of them.
So, when I save and reopen the document, I get a missing font dialog.
At first I thought it was only with [No Paragraph Style] instances, so I could solve by replacing those. However, it seems to be wherever an carriage return is added in the text at the end of existing styles. So, replacing all of a specific style with an existing will not work.
I need to find and replace all instance of the Font - and yet, I see from other posts that in InDesign CS 3 5.0 I cannot find missing fonts with a script.
Does anyone know of a solution?

Perhaps it's some sort of incompatibility with Quicktime, which is the foundation of the iLife apps.
A workaround might be to create your menu background in Photoshop, using your new font, and export a jpg version. You'll be able to drop this onto iDVD's background (not into a drop box) and it will replace the existing theme background.

Drop Off Library and Content Organizer Rules allow bypassing of destination permissions

I had a test scenario where
User Betty didn’t have permissions to a destination library (only I had permissions to it)
Via the Content Organizer rule and the Drop Off library, Betty could send a document to a library where she didn’t have access.
Anyone addressing this issue and how? We just don't want people to be able to send things to a destination where they don't have access, but looks like the Content Organizer Rules impersonate some part of the move.
What's odd is you can see the "CreatedBy" as Betty, but she can't go to the library and even see the moved document...permission is denied.

This is the known and documented behavior of the content organizer. To prevent someone from using the content organizer in this way, you'd need to prevent them from having access to add documents in the drop off library in the first place, or else
use some other process, such as workflows, to move the documents using the creator's permissions.

Image dropping off the screen

I am new to Photoshop (CC). I have been using some tools successfully, but now when I try to use the Healing, Tool, Patch, Type and some others, the image drops off the screen as soon as I place the tool onto the screen. Then I cannot work on the image. It just started today. Amy ideas???

Usually any issue thats have to do with the displaying an image or any part of photoshop for that matter, is due to an out dated video driver. Try updating it and see if that fixes the issue.
If the image is just too large to display, you can hold the ctrl key and the 0 on the numeric panel to zoom out to the full size of that image.

My airport express connects then it drops off i am trying to set it up to extend my wifi, what am i doing wrong?

I can get it to recognize it, then it drops off. I am just trying to extend my wifi through out the house. I understand that there can be some interference from other things in the house. What else am i not doing? Thanks

AirPlay Speakers drop off iTunes list - help!

My 4 AirPlay speakers (Bose, JBL, iHome) have worked fine connected by wi-fi to my Netgear WNDR4000 router. I play from iTunes, and also sometimes stream radio directly from my iPhone or iPad.
I have had some issues with poor wi-fi coverage, so yesterday I up graded to a high end Wireless Access Point, the EnGenius EAP-1750h. This is a 802.1ac dual band high power device - the signal strength is amazing. I have turned off wi-fi on my router completely, and am using the access point for wi-fi connections.
The issue I am having is that the AIrPlay devices are falling off iTunes after a variable time (minutes to hours). If I click on them in the iTunes airplay list, they disappear and I cannot connect to them. At the same time, the "connected devices" lists of the access point and the router show that the speakers are still connected. There is NO issue with internet access on any devices. REBOOTING THE ACCESS POINT BRINGS THE DEVICES BACK, until they drop off again.
I am thinking that perhaps there is a bonjour port that keeps track of the devices that is not making it from the WAP to the router or something - and Apple in its wisdom makes it really hard to find out such info. I am an experienced user, and do not have any gross mistakes in my device configuration; I have read the relevant Apple support documents. I am not an IT tech, however, and I am not familiar with some the advanced settings, particularly of the WAP, which is a high-end business-oriented device.
All the AirPlay devices are connected on the 2.4Ghz network. The base PC is hardwired by Ethernet to the router. Turning off the 5Ghz band completely and using only a single 2.4Ghz network does not help. All software and firmware of all devices is up to date.
Does this ring any bell to anyone? I sthere a setting that will fix this? I love the WAP, but I will have to bring it back if I can't get AirPlay to work! I'm sure it is not a hardware defect issue - it is an Apple AirPlay configuration issue - that's why I am posting here. Help appreciated!!

Recreating the speakers didn't work for me. I am not sure what the issue could be at this point. Any help would be apreaciated.

[JS][CS4/CS5] Images dropping off in scripted pdf export

I've encounted a bug that I wonder if someone could try to replicate or suggest a workaround of some sort for.
Some background: we often need to batch-export a number of versioned InDesign files to pdf. These files will often share a lot of content, particularly placed images. We've used Peter Kahrel's export script for this purpose, as well as a number of scripts of my own. The specifics of the script don't seem to be important. I've seen the problem in both CS4 and CS5 on the Mac.
The problem: Placed Illustrator files (and pdfs) drop off of exported pdfs, without any kind of error being raised, after a user tries to interact with InDesign while it's tied up during a script which opens and exports one file after another. Once an image drops off, it will be missing from every subsequently exported pdf until the script completes. The pdfs are valid—they open and display just fine—they just don't contain all the images they're supposed to. Placed raster images are not affected.
If anyone cares to try to replicate this for me, the script I used to trigger it was:

The InDesign file can simply be a single page with any (as far as I know) placed Illustrator file or pdf. I used an .ai file with one black rectangle in the middle of the page.
After getting the export script going in the ESTK, I Command-Tab over to InDesign. As soon as I try to click on any UI element (which will get me a spinning beach ball), the placed vector image drops off of the exported pdf and stays dropped off until I stop the script.
While the solution seems simple—don't mess with InDesign while it's batch exporting pdfs—it's easy to forget that it's tied up, and the consequences of an image silently dropping off of an exported pdf could be quite dire.

Easy to reproduce, just launch script and click any toolpanel header while indesign running script..
test_document.indd includes those black rectangles in linked .ai file.
Right after InDesign ui-element is clicked, that linked .ai is dropped from rest of exported pdf's.

Web part created on a subsite for a sharepoint list in another site using sharepoint designer, to show only the subsite's reports. Connection dropping off and showing all the reports

I crated web parts in the sub-sites (we have about 10 subsites) using sharepoint designer from a main list in another site. Then used web part to show only the ubsite's reports - using connection to the main list. Problem is, the connection
is dropping off and showing all the reports on the main list that are confidential. this has happened 3 time lately. Could someone explain why it happens some times? I had to fix it by adding the web part again and connecting it

If you want to use a top level site "department" list column in all sub-sites, you can go to top level site and create a
lookup type "Site column" to look up the value from the department list, then all sub-sites can use this lookup type site column created in top level site.

Audio suddenly drop off when Airplaying video into Apple TV

I´m trying to stream the content from my MacBook Air into my TV via my Apple TV using Airplay. Both audio and video work fine the first seconds on the TV then, suddenly, the sound drops off.
All the sw is updated, the problem began after the latest Apple TV update.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to solve this ?? (The solutions exposed in other threads doesn´t solve my problem)

No doubt the wireless transfer is the weakest link in the chain. Firewire 800 is substantially faster than 400, so you would gain some future-proofing by going with it. And the 2009 Minis come with Wifi-N, while the older models come with G/B.
A used Mini will usually lack the Apple warranty.
Minis are so handy that you have to ask yourself, why is someone getting rid of it? My somewhat cynical answer is that many Minis being sold on the used market are being gotten rid of because of some lurking problem issue that the owner hasn't been able to resolve.
If you must buy an older model, consider an Apple refurbished Mini, which comes with full warranty and current software.

Drop off SoS/Supplier in the new SC while referring SoS changed Template

We have Shopping Cart Template created for Products with assigned SoS ( ECC Contracts or PIR or just Supplier if SoS not exists ) .
When we do NOT change anything in already created Template for SoS and create new Shopping Cart w.r.t. Template who have SoS assigned , then NO problem !
But when we do some change in Template in SoS List ( Normally we do it to reflect/refresh the Changed Price of the SoS in ECC ) by removing already assigned SoS / Just Supplier and reassign the same..) and create new Shopping Cart w.r.t. this Template, then in Shopping Cart, the assigned Source of Supply removes /drop off automatically and this is the problem .
Due to this, the End User need to again assign it manually which is wrong, since selection of the Source of Supply is the strategic decision and that is done by Buyer in the Template . User just have create the Shopping Cart from reference of the Template w/o any additional efforts/changes in it.
For creating New SC while referring already created Template with assigned SoS , system should copy the line item with assigned SoS and should NOT remove it , otherwise there is no meaning of Template.
It do not happen if we there is no any change in SoS in the Template .
Can anyone please suggest what should be the issue a nd remeady on ot. It is clrealy Prouct problem.. is any Note on this ?

Concerning the express replacement service, i was wondering if i had to personally drop off my old iphone at a nearby apple store or can a freind do it for me?

since the nearest apple store is a couple hours drive, i was wondering if i had to personally drop off my iphone for the express replacement service or if a friend could do it for me in my place if they were in the area?

Express replacement is generally handled through the mail. They ship you a phone and a box and you send the old one back. However, you can also take the old phone to the Apple store and they can replace it in the store. That would be much easier and less expensive than the express service unless it is that much trouble for you to drive to the Apple store.

Report router rules and drop off library in Sharepoint

Hi,
I am running the report from the Report Setting link in Duet Enterprise. I get the message saying, 'The report has been submitted for processing and will be delivered to your Reports page".
But i am not getting any reports in the reports page. After googling, i got to know that i will have to confiure the Report Routing rules for the same. Also a Drop off library needs to be maintained.
Could anyone please explain the detailed steps for doing both these activities? Being a SAP expert, i dont know much about SharePoint sites.

lets perform some checks to see where we are actually failing.
The error
User may not be a Duet user.
SAP system not configured or changed on add-on.
SAPID passed was not present in the master system.
means that somewhere on the server where the report is running the information that is retrieved from the SCL server is not correct. In your case these two systems (the server that is running the report and the SCL) are the same, but technically the flow is similar to the case that both would be on seperate system.
So the first thing I would check is if the RFC destination and the logical port that was configured is correct.
(all the following steps are done on the SCL in your case):
At first go to LPCONFIG and search for the Proxy Class: /OSP/CO_REP_ADAPTER_WSVI_DOCUM with Default Port checked.
Make sure that this logical port is active, then go to the Call Parameters tab. Here you should see in the HTTP Destination an entry IWCNT_REPT_ACT_HTTP_DEST.
Double click on that (don't save any changes if you get a prompt) and you will end up in SM59. Here you should see in the target host field the hostname of the SCL server. Under Service No. the HTTPS Port of your SCL system and finally in Path Prefix you should see something like this:

Before performing a connection test, go to the "Logon & Security" tab. Here you should see in the "Logon with Ticket" secion "Send Assertion Ticket for Dedicated Target System" checked and also SSL Active in the Status of Secure Protocol. The SSL Certificate is set to "ANONYM SSL Client (Anonymous)".
If that is all the case, then click on "Connection Test". The result should be a HTTP 415.
