Distortion with cassette car adapter

I've noticed that when I connect my iPod Classic to a cassette car adapter and turn the volume down to around 50% or lower I get all sorts of clicks & pops that are not in the music. This doesn't happen with the earbuds. Full volume is too loud for clear reporduction and while I can find a level that's loud enough not to include these effects it still seems rather odd. Anyone else notice the same? I've not noticed anything similar with either the 30gb video iPod or other mp3 players. Is the Classic overly sensitive to the impedance of whatever is plugged into the headphone socket?

I find that setting the iPod at about 75-80% volume seems to work well with car cassette adapters.
I just set that in the settings as my volume limit and I can crank the Pod up its new "maximum" limit easily rather than worrying about riding the limit to the sweet spot.
Has anyone noticed that the iPod's output seems to get progressively more bass-heavy as you increase the volume? It's noticable when using cassette adapters because if you turn the volume of the stereo down and the iPod up you get more bass. I sometimes use this as a sort of bass equalizer when the car stereo's equalizer doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard.

  • My iPhone 4 won't work with my car adapter but all other iPhones do. What's wrong with mine?

I have an iPhone 4 ad I have a car adapter that says it is compatible with my phone. Every thing else works fine with the adapter. All different kinds of iPods and anyone's iPhone that I try on the adapter works except mine.
Could there e something in my setting that isn't letting my music play? What could it be?? I honestly dot know what it could be.

Could be a problem with the contacts on your iPhone's connector.  Try cleaning the contacts using compressed dry compressed air, blowing on the contacts using your mouth being carefully not to spit, or using a very soft dry brush.

  • Blackberry torch does not get charged with a car adapter?

Blackberry torch 9800 gets charged from laptop and wall mount.
When I tried using thru car adapter it would not work.
I have checked the adapter, it charges the other non blackberry mobile.
My Question, do we need to have a special car adapter for blackberry touch OR
do we need to make some changes in the setup

That would be unlikely for a couple of reasons:
    1. The handset is only 4 days old.
    2. It charges flawlessly using the same cables on every other source - AC wall charger, laptop, PC, BB charging cradle, aan also an AC wall charger plugged into a cigarette lighter inverter! It always works in these scenarios.
The only time it fails (and quite consistently) to charge is when the charging source is a car cigarette lighter USB adapter. And it fails whether you use it in a car or with an AC wall cigarette lighter converter.
Please take a look at my other post from last night - I described all the things I tried.
If u still feel it is my handset, I would appreciate a referral to at&t. Minimally, I would like to try a new handset before replacing this one. It takes a long time to get it configured the way I want it.
    Thanks,
    Ashoke.

  • Problems with a car adapter?

I have an ipod nano along with 3 other members of my family who also have ipod nanos. We purchased an adapter for the car to listen to the music through the radio. The adapter we bought wasn't apple brand, but 3 of the ipods work fine with it. When I plug my ipod into the adapter, it doesn't play even when it says it's playing on the ipod. I turn both the sound on the ipod and radio up, but it doesn't work. What might be the problem with my ipod and what should I do?
    ipod nano   Windows XP

I've used radio-type iPod adapters that recognized any file format the iPod would play--in my case, most of them are not MP3, they're AAC or even sound from MPEG movies. The radio adapter simply receives an audio signal from the iPod and broadcasts it on a low-power transmitter. It probably never knows (or cares about) the format of the file in the iPod.
I would first plug in earbuds to make sure there is audio playing. Next, I'd make sure the connector is properly and firmly connected. Finally, I'd make sure that the frequency your adapter is broadcasting is the same one the radio is tuned to.
I found the sound quality from the FM radio adapters disappointing and switched to a cassette adapter, which sounded much better. If your stereo has an auxiliary input, using that would give even better sound quality. I hope that helps.

  • Nano works with PC but not car adapter or isounds??

My nano (3rd gen) was working fine with PC, car adapter and isounds clock radio but now when I plug it in to the car lighter it stops responding. Also tried isounds clock radio which it's worked on before but now it stops responding to that also. It will charge and play when connected to my pc. Need help... Any thoughts??

I have the same problem. I have a Monster FM Transmitter that worked just fine until the latest version of the the Ipod firmware now when I plug it in the backlight won't come on and it is stuck in pause. I have had the Monster FM transmitter replaced by Futureshop plus they tested the first one and it works just fine. The Ipod they tested it with had not had the firmware updated.

  • No connection between iphone 4s and car-adapter

    Hello,
Have a question to iphone 4s in connection with my car - adapter for Volkswagen (Adapter-Article.No. 3C005143CD)
My phone, updated to 5.1.1 (9B206) and since then is that impossible for bluethoth-connection.
Is that correct or anyone to find a solution for my problem? The adapter has cost roughly 100 euros and now is it for garbage!
    Thank you help,
    Gerdi from Schleswig-Holstein, North-Germany

Try "forgetting" the car adapter on the iPhone and reset the car adapter, reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears, then pair them again.

  • Using Cellphone charger/car adapter with Creative

Can I use my Motorola Cellphone charger and car adapter with my new ZEN 4GB? It has a mini USB plug and the following specifications:
    Input: 00-240V~50/60Hz 0.2A
    Output: 5.0V DC 550mA
I would appreciate it if somebody who has a Creative charger would check the rating plate on it and see how it compares to my Motorola. I am going to Asia for a couple weeks and I won't be taking a computer but want my music.
By the way I did a search on this and this question has been asked before but never answered. Hope I get a better response. Thanks!

Let's see. How does that old song go? Going to set right down and write my self a letter.....
I tried both the 2V car adapter and the home charger that came with my Motorola cellphone and they both appear work just fine on my ZEN. Might not be a good idea to leave them plugged in unattended for a long period of time because I am not sure they have a way of sensing the charge condition of the ZEN battery the way *I assume* my computer's Creative ZEN USB driver does.

  • Volvo car adapter with iPod

Recently had Volvo car adapter for iPod installed. Worked great, including the ability to use the scroll wheel to access songs/ albums beyond the nine operable from the steering. Then I updated with 1.2.1. Now I have no scroll wheel functionality at all in the car. The iPod works fine when not connected to the car, and all nine playlists can be accessed when connected to the car. Just would be nice to be able to use the wheel as well, especially since it did work prior to the update.
    G5 1.8 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   60 G 5 gen iPod

I'm having a similar problem. It will play from the steering wheel, but I only get about 7 song then it locks up. The problem is version 1.2.1. I was able to re-load version 1.1, but now I have all the problems with that version. I agree, it seemed that version 1.2 was almost perfect but since they have iTunes upgrading the iPods now, you can't just re-install version 1.2. It can't find anyone with an answer or anyone from apple offering a good solution. The older version is almost as big a problem as the newest version.

  • 3g Nano wheel does not function with car adapter

I have a new nano that when used in my car (which has a dock type cable that plugs into the nano) does not work. It turns on and everything functions but the wheel stops working. The menu button, the start/pause button work but I cannot scroll through anything. Unplug it and it works. Plug in a video ipod or a 2g nano to the car and it works but not the new nano. Anyone encountered this?
The car adapter is a Peripheral devices ipod adapter for an acura
    Thanks,
    Brian

I am having the same issue and my interface is a Peripheral iSimple product. There is no wheel functionality on my new 3g nano, but buttons function fine. I'm now extremely unhappy I upgraded from my 2g nano since it worked great in the car. I am seriously thinking of returning this one and paying the restock if necessary. Apple must have used a different firmware in these new nanos. New features and design are great, but when my interface quits working and I have to upgrade my whole musical life it gets rediculous. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS AND QUICK!

  • My ipod won't work with any car adapters!!!!!!

can someone please tell me how to get my ipod to work with car adapters??????

it depends on what kind of car adapter you have. Cassette adapter? FM transmitter? AUX input plug? Alpine head unit with their adapter? Icelink+? The BMW adapter (which is in other cars as well)? or what?

  • XPlod car adapter no longer works after installing OS 4.0

I have a Sony car stereo with the Xplod adapter that allows me to hook up my iPod to my stereo and control it from there. After the recent update to OS 4.0 this no longer works.
Now when I plug it in; the iPod stops playing sound through it's speaker, but I get no control through the Stereo and nothing plays. It just seems to freeze.
This has worked perfectly for 2years, and now it's dead. Anyone have any suggestions or fixes?

I had this same issue after upgrading to iOS 4.0. I could play my iPod touch to the xPLOD through the USB cable but could not control it with the xPLOD, and there were a few other issues too.
I tried the recommendation to power off the iPod Touch, then connect it to the xPLOD.
I pressed the top and home buttons until "slide to power off" appeared, which I did.
I connected the iPod Touch to the xPLOD and set the xPLOD source to USB.
The iPod started to wake up. The xPLOD timed out with a "No device found" message while the iPod was waking up.
When the iPod woke up, the xPLOD detected it and displayed "Reading device", then, everything worked fine.
    YMMV...

  • Old Cinema Display 22" won't work with DVI-ADC adapter & Mac Pro

So, I want to use my old 22" ADC Cinema Display with my new Mac Pro with the Radeon x1900 card.
And I was told to buy the DVI to ADC adapter, which I did.
But it doesn't work! The adapter powers up my monitor, and it shows up in the Display settings of system prefs, but the monitor remains DARK.
Anyone hear of this happening? I spent an hour with Apple Care phone support. They have no idea what to do.
Is the 22" (model #M8149) just not compatible with this adapter? I'd hate to have to buy a whole new monitor!

Yes, I tried re-setting the PRAM as well. Didn't work.
I've gone into the Monitor display settings and clicked "Detect Displays"...I've changed the Hz on the VGA monitor that I have plugged in simultaneously (a Gateway FPD1510). Not working.
As I mentioned, the computer does detect the monitor...it shows up in the Display Arrangement window and I can change its resolution, etc.
And the power light is on.
It's just that the screen in black.
Is this monitor just incompatible with this adapter?
Sounds like someone else is having this issue too, right?

  • Ipod Nano and Icelink Car adapter

Well i recently installed the Icelink adapter on my BMW's Bussiness CD. I bought an Ipod Nano and i am facing a weird issue that noone can explain.
Though the Nano works fine with the CD player in my car, in certain songs "Warning" is displayed in the CD player's screen and either Nano or CD Player turns off and back on.
If i skip the song within 2-3 minutes moving forwards/backwards it works until i reach a song that can be played.
Note that i controll the Nano from the CD Player's menu buttons.
I have also upgraded it to software version 1.1.1 but still it does the same thing and only in certain songs.
It's weird cause all of these songs play fine in any player in my laptop and through Nano connected to my home stereo or earphones.
An other funny thing is that i connected another regular IPOD which interacts with the car's CD Player fine without having issues like the ones i mentioned above.
Does anyone have any idea why this issue occures??
    Thanks in advance.

    Well i figured it out.
In order for icelink to transmit the song played in Nano to the CD Player, all songs must have information related both to the Song title and artist name. Otherwise Icelink can not work properly and interact completely with the CD Player.
The info should be added through Itunes only.
